Danny HCs (Part 1/?)

For context I base him heavily off AOD episode 0! I really like how he's characterized--He's such a deep, complex character with so many issues that he's struggling with and God. I just love him. He's not a pedophile, he's not a "creepy weirdo character", he's just a depressed, insecure man who doesn't know what to do when faced with love!!

Danny is severely uncomfortable with compliments and comments on his appearance. Even if he may not show it outright, if you make any comment about his looks--be it positive, negative, or neutral, he becomes uncomfortable.

Again, it doesn't matter what's said to him; it can be something as simple as "your hair looks nice today!" And he'd freeze, plaster on a fake smile, and then change the subject.

And dear GOD never compliment him. He completely shuts down, and not in the cute, flustered way: he starts sweating, goes pale, and tries to talk about something else, but if he can't, he just goes nonverbal.

The reason for this, of course, is because he doesn't believe it. What do you mean he's pretty? He looks nice? Are you kidding? He thinks he's a monster. He's not a human. Compliments, comments, everything, they're fake. They're lies. Why are you lying to him? Are you trying to make fun of him? He hates it. He feels horrible. He doesn't want to be here anymore.

He is SUCH a relatable character I adore him and I have SO many HCs for this silly little man

Finally got around to reading Vol 6 of episode 0 for Angels of Death and God it's so good an interesting this volume also solidified my love of Danny and Zack they truly are my favorite characters in this series they're just so interesting and fascinating as well. Plus it was interesting to see how Rachel and Danny met as well.

Dr. Danny looks up from his papers, which he seems to have doodled a few drawings on, smiling. "Yes, you could say we are friends! We did have our little... odd encounter, when we first met. Don't you remember that, Dr. Drevis?"

The mad father nods, brushing the hair of his latest doll as he explains "I find Dr. Danny's false eye to be marvelous. It looks like a beautiful doll eye, but with the extra bonus of it's own form of liveliness. It's something that will never have to change, if he doesn't want it to... Preserving it's perfection. Of course, he does have other glass eyes to switch it out with, each equally as marvelous. I am afraid, when we first met, I might've come off a bit... strongly... about my thoughts on his eye."

Danny nods, looking down at the paper in his hands. Drawings of various eyes, doll designs, and other related topics cover it. "You did, but after some thought, I am not sure I mind. At least you only have praises for it, unlike others who have mentioned my glass eye. Plus, we both have the love of beautiful peepers in common. I am glad you are letting me help you on your next project, by the way." Dr. Drevis chuckles, finishing with the doll's hair, before placing her on the shelf. "It is not a problem, Dr. Danny. You truly have an eye for beautiful designs. In fact, if I can find the right subject, I would like to make a gift for you. I know how much you like a very particular pair of eyes..."

Like Dr. Fate is a Lord of Order. Klarion is a Lord of Chaos. But? By their very natures? NEITHER are correct? Klarion is just both mischievous and more of a dangerous asshole day to day. Less consistent.

Absolute Order is a bad thing. It stifles, stagnates, and destroyes. Absolute Chaos is much the same. Destructive, formless, and self-cannibalizing. You need BALANCE. But??? Does Balance need THEM?

Or does he fuckin HATE those guys?

Are they the devil and angel on his shoulder? But shaded in Orange and Blue morality? Or was this whole fight BECAUSE Pariah fucking sucks and wasn't doing his job as mediator? Because Death is the great equalizer. The end of both Order AND Chaos, therefor supposedly impartial?
