got some merino combed top wool in beautiful colours to spin, and i tell ya, it's gonna be hard going back to the dorset felting wool, this stuff is sooooo smooth and silky and the fibres are so long, it just spins up incredibly fine thread so easily.

I take back all the bitching i ever did about merino being everywhere, this stuff is fucking delightful. I have the urge to do a burn test to make sure this is in fact 100% wool, my unfamiliarity with it makes me doubt lol

#Dorset is great stuff but it's a very frizzy kinky fibre compared to longer straighter wools #Great for felting and still very hand spinnable for laceweight yarn or heavy thread #And i get it very affordably from a wool spinning mill nearby #But their colour list doesn't fit for a project and i wanted to try spinning top instead of roving #For superfine thread top is the shit #I'm gonna get prolly 200m of 2-ply out of one ounce of wool at this gauge #That is *wild*#Thayle crafts
