I think it helps that not ALL necromancy is blood magic despite that tweet, and I've had issues with it since she said it.

By definition, blood magic uses the mana stored in a living person's blood to fuel it. If the caster uses their own willpower to connect to the Fade and cast, then it's magic, not blood magic.

Dorian's casting in DA:I only used his own mana, for example.

In the Mortalitasi skill above, the caster isn't using blood magic until their own mana is depleted.

I'm not saying they don't use blood magic sometimes (or even for some weaker Mortalitasi all the time). But I am saying the fact it's not always 100% certain they are doing blood magic just by being necromancers or mortalitasi probably helps them get away with it.

the mortalitasi may be the funniest mages in thedas because as far as i can tell their entire strategy is just to do blood magic with so much confidence nobody questions it

Dorian & Solas pretty please?

Here's a snippet from the third chapter of Humbling a God, which explores the weeks Dorian and Solas were fighting together in Minrathous!

He helps Solas over to his bedroll by the fireplace - unlit, because they can’t risk drawing notice, and a healer comes by, offering Solas a potion, which he stares at with distrust. 

Sighing, he takes the potion from Solas, uncorks it, gives it a sniff, finding a perfectly benign elfroot-based healing potion, takes a swig, and then hands it back to him. “It would be against our best interests to poison you, on account of your willingness to take an ass-kicking to protect the city.” Nodding, Solas tips the flask back and then sets it down on the ground beside the bedroll. He hesitates before offering to help Solas undress, considering it may be less awkward to leave it to Tarquin to help before deciding that Solas is liable to be more comfortable with someone he knows. 

Even so, Solas refuses, reminding him that the man is as hard-headed as they come, leaving him with the privilege of watching Solas slowly remove his own armour and then clean and bandage the puncture wounds on his leg. “You won’t be much good in a fight tomorrow so the Viper may want to pick your brain to figure out a strategy to take down the archdemon.”

“I am amenable to such a conversation but will be perfectly fine to fight come morning.” He opens his mouth to protest, but before he can get the words out, Solas says, “I was a war machine for ages upon ages. Pain is familiar and inconsequential.” 

He digs his nails into the palm of his hand to distract from the sudden onset of emotion because it wouldn’t do to cry over his best friend’s ex-boyfriend. “Iris would hate hearing you say that,” he says quietly. 

“That is why I say it to you and not to her.”

I: Tonight we're welcoming the cast of the 4th season of the famous Dragon Age show! Tell us, Klytus, how does it feel to be the lead actor of such highly anticipated season? Fans have been waiting for almost 10 years!

K: Hey, thank you for having me here. To answer your question- that's a lot of pressure. But also- I'm really happy. I never thought I'd be chosen for such a big role considering my career was relatively tame, and I'm very grateful. It was also amazing to work with such seasoned actors like Dorian and David, they shared a lot of their wisdom.

D: Oh yeah, we've been like mother hens for Klytus. He's a quick learner though, our young star will totally overshadow us in this season.

I: I see rings. So, is Davidorian canon in real life too?

D: Pfft, my dear, thought it was obvious. But yeah, we're engaged. You're invited to our wedding, Klytus too.

please give us vivienne headcanons the people want them

then the people will be given them! as a holiday present or something, idk, this has been in the drafts for a minute. i've got a whole bunch but have some off the top of my head

- vivienne struggles sleeping anywhere in a location she isn't used to. so the early days of both haven and skyhold, sleeping out on the road, settling into an inn for the night– it's all difficult for her. she's a mage, and notably one who does not like exploring the fade when she dreams. each new place she sleeps takes her to a new part of the fade, and it sometimes leads to her skipping sleep when she can risk it. she will also actively avoid solas if they happen to be in the same part of the fade while sleeping. he's tried tempting her to explore more of the fade and he is NOT defeating the pride demon allegations.

- her favorite place to sleep is in bastien's estate! she's very wary of any spirits she encounters there still, but she enjoys spending time in the fade's version of the estate's garden. she hated sleeping in both the monnstimard and ostwick circles, though.

- vivienne is an alcoholic. in the same way your aunt says that it's fine that she drinks so much and its not a big deal because it is Just Wine, vivienne usually has a glass in her hand more often than not. she very rarely drinks to the point of being inebriated, but she gets stressed when she hasn't had a drink and relies on it maybe a bit more than she should. she doesn't drink red wines, though. she won't even touch them.

- adding onto the previous one, dorian and vivienne are drinking buddies! usually it's just vivienne having a glass or two while dorian gets trashed, but there has been a few times where it has been the reverse. they don't talk about it afterwards.

- vivienne does have a favorite type of magic and it is her healing magic, not her ice or even her sword. being a healer means people rely on her, which she likes, and it also means she doesn't need to rely as heavily on other people when she can do it herself. the act of healing is also pretty therapeutic to her in a weird, morbid sort of way. feeling bones snap back into place, sinew threading itself back together, and burns fade to scars under her fingers makes her feel powerful in a way her combat magic just. doesn't.

- this leans more to canon, but vivienne is also an alchemist! her heath potions are potent as hell, but holy shit is there a kick to them. in general vivienne has several practical skills that a lot of other circle mages don't. she can make potions, she can stitch wounds, she can sew clothes, do her own laundry, cook– anything and everything to be as reliant on herself as possible.

- sometimes during down-time moments with sera she'll tap her nails against whatever is near her to get that scrape-y, crawly sound. skitter skitter.

- and one of my favorite ones, vivienne has worked with/hired the bull's chargers in the past before inquisition! she occasionally hired them when she needed some beast to be killed for an ingredient, a pelt/hide, or if it was generally causing problems and it would look good for her to stop those problems. she pays them well and, on one occasion, joined them to take down a particularly bothersome drake. bull missed that fight though 😔

Love the banters with Dorian and Solas where Dorian is like, "Do you have spirit servants? Spirit servants are great! You should get some! They're very easy to control." Because he has. No idea. He's still figuring out slavery is bad. He hasn't even tip-toed towards spirits are people, too.

And Solas is just like. The most calm yet passive-aggressive version of, "The Lord is testing me."

Fast forward ten years or so and Dorian is smacking at the pillars of his society with his staff all, "SOLAS TOLD ME TO FREE EVERYBODY AND, BY THE MAKER, I'M GONNA DO IT! >:["

i can't imagine how dorian feels hearing about that after his dad tried to use blood magic to make him straight
