There was always something about Kaiba that either made him shiver in pleasure or rubbed him in such a way that he wondered if the Gods were giving him a sort of punishment. Did he not do what was destined for him? Was there more he could have done? Mentally, he shakes his head and presently lets out a soft sigh. His lashes flutter as ruby gaze looks across the desk to the CEO, who again types away at whatever document or email needs his attention.
They always met in Kaiba's office. Always Atem sat in a plush black pleather chair, counting the minutes passing by or letting his mind wander as Kaiba's typing was the only noise to fill the silence between them. Of course, they weren't alone all the time. Kaiba's secretary, Nomura Hisae, often came into the room to deliver specific information in manilla envelopes or beige folders that appeared to be bursting. Although, Atem often heard her over the phone speaker. Her voice became a welcoming sound in the otherwise stifling office.
"Kaiba." He wet his lips as the typing continued as if the CEO didn't hear him, but Atem knew he did. There was a subtle change in the man's hand, a twitch on his cheek. Small things that many wouldn't notice if they weren't close with the stoic CEO or happened to observe him whenever the mood strikes like the ex-pharaoh did. Far too often. "Will you come home?" The typing pauses after a moment or two, azure hues turn towards him as cold as ever, yet that was just the surface like a frozen lake that still held a deeper unknown depth within.

In spite of Atem knowing that this was how their usual dance went, he couldn't help but frown. A frown that was too close to almost pouting. He lets out a little sigh and leans further back against the cushion to collect whatever sanity he had at that moment. There wasn't much left, if he was honest. Standing up on his heeled boots, Atem leans over the desk and glares at the CEO, annoyance finally rising.
"A 'yes, I'll come home' would suffice."
