Xenoblade 3 Future Redeemed lore recap (obviously, spoilers ahead) but it's all just what I remember:
Lucky Seven contains what amounts to souls, most likely from the XC2 cast, and Shulk's Replica Monado presumably contains XC1's cast's due to both being forged with Origin metal (implied for the R. Monado)
What we knew as XC1 Alvis, a.k.a. Ontos, split into two: a half being a powerful, god-like machine (Alpha), and the other half being compassionate, amicable and having Alvis' memories and feelings, along with future visions (A).
Ontos was the intermediary between Logos and Pneuma in the Trinity Processor; where Logos presented as a male and Pneuma as a female, Ontos was neither, both, the middle, etc.
Some people were not assimilated into Origin for unknown reasons, though it's presumably because they were needed for events to happen.
Origin's architecture is based on Ontos' core.
Speaking about cores, Ontos (or A) remains watching over the world, Logos is heavily implied to be embedded in N's sword and Pneuma is straight up shown in Matthew's metal fists. Whatever that means.
Alpha's intention was to creat a world akin to that of Klaus', and for that he needed the people of the City as "fuel".
SPEAKING OF KLAUS' WORLD!!!! Apart from the apparent social unrest due to some human rights trouble (the "Saviourite Act" pretended to protect them), the main city seems to be divided in 13 districts (one of them called Minos, with a Dmitri Yuriev as a political figure). There also had been shuttle launches: the Radamanthus (XC2's First Low Orbit Station) can be seen, and the Terrestrial Evacuation Project aka Exodus had launched at least eight motherships to ferry out people. The eighth one, called Icarus, was intended to transport 480k people to "Eta Carinae, in the Carina-Sagittarius Arm in the Milky Way". So far there were 3M people shipped out, with plans to take out up to 10M in a new model (Philadelphia).
Shulk and Rex bent the literal rules of the world so Glimmer and Nikola (their children!!!!) could actually live their lives by using their own life force or whatever
N never wanted to kill Ghondor, but he had to do it and accept it because Ghondor asked for it.
The worlds did end up fusing through Origin properly! Everyone is fine and happy :D
Riku is one of Riki's eleven children, and was a disciple of Melia (his masterpon). How he's still alive..... is still left unexplained. I assume it's fuckery on Melia and A's side.
Both Pyra and Mythra are theoretically not connected to Pneuma's core itself anymore, as per the ending of XC2, and we do see Pneuma's true core without them nearby. Glimmer's core is not Pneuma, it just has the shape to hammer in the connection.
It is left deliberately vague if Shulk and Fiona ever got married. Though it seems to be the case, as Rex calls Dunban his brother-in-law.
Still unknown where Matthew's surname comes from........ XC1's Vandham, perhaps?
Riku did help create the Ouroboros stone, which is basically Pneuma's role in XC3.

Albedo Piazzolla: Best Villain
If you’re a Nintendo fan, you’ve probably heard of the Xenoblade Chronicles series. Well, a couple of years prior, Monolith Soft released a trilogy of games known as Xenosaga on the PlayStation and later on, remakes were released on the DS only in Japan. This was Tetsuya Takahashi’s second attempt at creating an epic sci-fi story spanning multiple games, anime, and manga. I could go on and on about this game, but then this essay would never end. One of my favorite villains ever hails from this game. Let’s talk about Albedo Piazzolla. Also, there will be spoilers for all of the games, so please stop if you don’t wish to be spoiled. Anyways, I’ll start with the basics.
Albedo has a ton of qualities that make him unique, charming, and terrifying. First of all his design is striking, especially with the sharp shape of his cape and the overall white everywhere. The cape provides him with a unique silhouette. His English voice actor, Crispin Freeman, surely brings this character to light expertly. His theme is brimming with madness, which is fitting for a man as insane as Albedo. Most characters in fiction who are deemed “insane” are simply sadistic sociopaths, but Mr. Piazzolla is truly insane. This is seen in his encounter with MOMO, which I’ll go into more detail in the fourth section. He’s also hilarious at times, especially with “Yo, Rubedo.” It’s such a great line. Even his name is significant. Albedo is one of the steps of the alchemical process and he has relationships with Nigredo and Rubedo, the other two steps of said process. Now, it’s time for his backstory, as it ties to both Rubedo and Nigredo.
Albedo’s and Rubedo’s connected pasts is the main aspect of Episode II. All three of them are Realians, artificially made humans, created by Dmitri Yuriev to combat an entity called U-DO. Because they are unique, they’re bullied by the other Realians. Albedo, protecting his twin brother Rubedo, beats up one of the bullies. Alby doesn’t understand why it’s a problem, considering that he thought that all of them had the ability to regrow limbs. It is here that he realizes that both Rubedo and Nigredo will die before him, and he breaks down into tears while hugging his beloved twin. After a while, the encounter with U-DO arrives. Rubedo receives a vision of the destruction of the universe. This freaks him out and he cuts the link, leaving all of the others to die or to be driven to madness by U-DO. This gives a proper reason for this man’s insanity. While we’ve seen his past and come to know his general traits, let’s look at a few scenes to really illustrate my points in action.
Albedo Piazzolla has some of the best, most memorable scenes in all three games. In Episode I, he kidnaps a young Realian girl named MOMO, and he sits on a pile of her sisters’ corpses, holding one in his arms. He breaks the arm of the deceased girl and tosses her aside like a doll. In the Japanese version, he brandishes a knife, but it was removed in the American version, which honestly improved this scene. He dismembers both his arm and his head, showing his immortal power, all while a choir of haunting voices fills the atmosphere up with utter dread. Another significant scene is when Albedo learns that his healing powers are unique to him. First, he demonstrates his powers to Rubedo and Nigredo by blowing off his head and instantly healing. The two are surprised. Albedo realizes the implications and runs to his brother, hugging him and begging him not to leave him, tears leaking out.
This essay spells out Albedo’s backstory, specific moments, and overall character to showcase this insane mad lad. Usually, I’m not a fan of insane villains, but Albedo is the exception.

Oh there's a scene that shows the earth before klauses experiment, it's mostly just the party chilling in floridian suburbs but there's a newscast on the radio that mentions project exodus, the coalition government, HEAVILY implies the white whale, and namedrops Dmitry Yuriev from xenosaga. also the radio has the vector industries logo on it, and the post credit scene is cos-mos falling to earth just like at the end of xenosaga 3. i am not making any of this up
not gonna watch the dlc myself and i want to say youre lying bc this is just the worst fanfic sounding ass thing in the world but youre the second person to tell me theres a xbcx reference at the end. what in gods name is going on in there

Unprompted Xenosaga cut story ideations
While Omega Metempsychosis is obviously a calback to Deus, I always wondered what possible explanation there was for the two accompanying subunits tethered to its arms. It seems rather pointless to ponder, but...
Given that Xenosaga's plot was ill-fated by financial disasters, it feels at times like the story was altered in some way that left a ton of loose ends in order for Monolith Soft to be able to deliver an actual trilogy with the usual staples of video games, like progression and gameplay, which always gets me thinking where these loose ends might have once connected to form a cohesive world. (For example, the alpha trailer for XS1 shows another Deus-like mech, seemingly an early design for Proto Omega, which was cut from XS1 and moved to XS2 to fill out the journey from Miltia II to Old Miltia.)
Well, there is one other loose end I realized would paint a clearer picture of just what Metempsychosis represents—it very easily could have been the conclusion to both Jr.'s beef with Dmitri Yuriev, as well as Shion's promise to Febronia.
In XS1, Febronia sets Shion up with a quest to free her sisters, Cecily and Cathe. Within KOS-MOS's encephalon, Shion and Jr. are forced to face their conjoined trauma sustained from the Zohar Incident, representing Shion's fear of chaos/humanity and her resonance with U-DO, and Jr.'s fear of order after failure to suppress U-DO's waves and the subsequent corruption of the URTV. Together, their fears form the beast Tiamat, whose destruction reveals the imprisoning dream shared by Febronia's sisters, trapped on Miltia.
Tumblr media
Of course, it isn't until XS2 that we find them in a gruesome suspended animation, their fleeting subconscious forming a link to bind the limitless energy of the Zohar. Rather anti-climactically, Shion and co. eventually make their long and bloated journey so that KOS-MOS can put a bullet or 100 through the sleeping children, achieving... not much of anything, as the Bad Pope promptly appears to activate Proto Omega and escape with the Zohar anyway. Then there's another rather pointless dungeon that sets up the fight with Bad Pope, as well as Jr. and Albedo's temporary conclusion.
What probably would have made more sense from the standpoint of story progression would be for the Bad Pope to have not existed, and for Yuriev to have appeared much sooner. In which case, I feel like there would have been a much more... tense battle as he fused with Omega, the Zohar, and Cecily and Cathe to form Metempsychosis, with the two sisters represented by the tethered "mechs" on either side. (Although they're clearly modeled after Weltall and Vierge, I feel like this could oddly represent Jr. and Shion's conceptual parallels to Fei and Elly.)
It's a bit of a shame XS ended up as inflated as it did for the mere mistake of planning a video game trilogy without accounting for the actual gameplay aapect, necessitating all that repetition. (Seriously, Proto Merkabah, Merkabah, Miltia's destruction, Proto Omega, Omega Res Novae, and the appearance of Abel's Ark probably should've been combined into one major event in a single game, lol.) But at least it's fun to ponder how the pieces might have once fit.

My list of top villains antagonists (cuz one or two of these guys could be debated to not fully count as full-on villains) because @gavillain did it and I am shamelessly stealing the idea:
Bowser (Nintendo)
Jafar (Aladdin/Once Upon a Time in Wonderland)
Palpatine/Darth Sidious (Star Wars)
Jason Todd/Red Hood (DC Comics)
Takuto Maruki (Persona 5 Royal)
Frieza (Dragon Ball)
Wilson Fisk/Kingpin (Daredevil/Hawkeye TV series)
Eobard Thawne/Reverse-Flash (The Flash/Legends of Tomorrow TV series - would probably be considerably higher, like #3 or #4, if I deleted everything after Flash season 1 in my mind oh well can’t do that)
Cora Mills/Queen of Hearts (Once Upon a Time)
Ardyn Izunia (Final Fantasy XV)
Flowey/Asriel Dreemurr (Undertale)
Slade (Teen Titans animated series)
Kuja (Final Fantasy IX)
Barbara Kean (Gotham)
Heckyl/Snide (Power Rangers Dino Charge)
Rufus Shinra (Final Fantasy VII)
Peter Pan/Malcolm (Once Upon a Time)
The Batman Who Laughs (DC Comics)
Vanitas (Kingdom Hearts)
Scourge the Hedgehog (Sonic the Hedgehog Archie Comics)
I feel like I did some of these guys dirty and kind of regret their placements, and I’m sure there are villains/antagonists I am forgetting about.... but these are the names that jumped to my mind in the last few minutes while sitting down to type this out. I’m very tempted to add Queen (Deltarune), Lord Zedd (Power Rangers), and Zamasu/Goku Black (Dragon Ball), but I dunno, something held me back and I’m not quite sure where they’d all fall on here.
EDIT: Also Albedo Piazzolla (Xenosaga), Dmitri Yuriev (Xenosaga), Envy (Fullmetal Alchemist manga/Brotherhood), Praetor Amalthus (Xenoblade Chronicles 2), Cersei Lannister (Game of Thrones), Gustavo Fring (Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul), Fish Mooney (Gotham), Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow (DC Comics), Edward Nygma/The Riddler (DC Comics), Roderick Kingsley/Hobgoblin (Marvel Comics)... hooooly crap there’s a lot I forgot lmao. Might expand my list someday soon.
