NAHHH I DON'T WANNA GO HOMEEEEEE TvT
Basically I have been travelling since Tuesday, and today is finally the day I'm returning back to Mumbai. So, me and my family had come for a short trip to Delhi and one day to Agra, and it was so mesmerizing!! My mom was so elated when she could finally catch a glimpse of her childhood place, i.e, East of Kailash in Delhi! :D
These days were so fun, istg. I went inside Qutb Minar (and yeah, ofc Chand Sifarish was going on in my mind), Red Fort (Diwan-i-aam had the place where the Emperor sat and addressed his people, yk, an elevated area like we can see in the movie Jodhaa Akbar, his aasan was kept down so that we could have a glimpse of it, it was made out of marble. Entry wasn't allowed inside Diwan-i-khaas, but the intricate designs and carvings of marble there would just keep anyone wondering how the people of that time had such amazing skills when technology wasn't available, and yes, the most amazing part is, EVERYTHING WAS FREAKING HAND-MADE!!!!), Lotus temple (it's beautiful from the outside, but there wasn't really anything to explore inside since it's just a huge prayer room where people came to meditate and pray). We caught glimpses of the India Gate, Rajpath, Rashtrapati Bhawan, Supreme Court, and ofc, a posche area like Connaught Place couldn't be missed!! We explored well-known market places like Karol Bagh, Lajpat Nagar and Sarojini Market.
Now coming to Agra. Our travelling time from Delhi to Agra was around 3.5 hours as we travelled through the expressway. Visited the grand Taj Mahal that day itself, and that sight took over my heart! It looks even more beautiful in reality than it does in pictures! Got to know a lot about the place, the designs which were made of gemstones, visited Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal's tombs inside (photography inside wasn't allowed), and so much more which I can't really explain in detail via this post. The next day, we went to Agra Fort, which covered about 3 km in area (yes it's that huge). Only 25% of the Fort is open for public, the rest of 75% has been occupied by the Indian Army, but just the 25% of the Fort really told us about the history of the Mughals. Mehtaab Bagh, where Shah Jahan wanted to build a black Taj Mahal for him, was visible from the Agra Fort. Building Taj Mahal required 60% of their wealth, and the leftover could not have been used to build another Taj Mahal, hence it could not be completed, and today, we can only see the platform which could be built only.
Fact - their security measures were insane. The front side of the Fort had huge gorges where crocodiles and Gharials were kept. There was also a small area of dense trees having wild animals ahead the gorge. So that means, any intruder who came inside would be instantly killed by these animals. Wild! These animals were kept hungry the whole night and given food in the morning intentionally so that they remain vigilant, hungry and ferocious the whole night in case anyone tries to enter and attack.
Yep, the days went like this!!
😄😄😁😁

Exploring India's Heritage: A Journey Through the Golden Triangle
India is a land of rich heritage and timeless beauty, offering countless opportunities for travelers to explore its vibrant culture, ancient history, and architectural wonders. Among the many journeys one can undertake, the golden triangle tour India stands out as an unparalleled experience. This route connects three iconic cities: Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur, each offering a unique glimpse into the country’s past and present.
Starting the Journey in Delhi
The golden triangle tour India begins in the nation’s capital, Delhi, a bustling metropolis that beautifully blends the ancient with the modern. The city’s rich history is evident in its numerous landmarks and monuments.
A visit to the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Humayun’s Tomb and Qutub Minar offers an insight into Delhi’s Mughal and Sultanate past. The architectural brilliance of these sites is complemented by the serene ambiance of the Lotus Temple and the imposing India Gate, a war memorial that pays homage to soldiers who sacrificed their lives.
For those who enjoy vibrant markets and street food, Delhi has no shortage of experiences. Chandni Chowk, one of the oldest and busiest markets in Old Delhi, is a sensory delight. From aromatic spices to handwoven textiles, the market offers a plethora of items to explore. Sampling the local delicacies such as parathas, chaat, and kebabs adds a culinary dimension to your golden triangle tour India.
New Delhi, with its wide boulevards and colonial-era buildings, showcases a different side of the city. A drive past Rashtrapati Bhavan (the President’s House) and the Parliament House highlights the grandeur of India’s political center. Before leaving Delhi, don’t miss Akshardham Temple, a modern architectural marvel that embodies India’s spiritual heritage.
The Enchanting Beauty of Agra
The next stop on the golden triangle tour India is Agra, home to the world-famous Taj Mahal. This city, located along the Yamuna River, is synonymous with love and romance, thanks to this iconic structure. Built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, the Taj Mahal is a masterpiece of Mughal architecture, blending elements of Persian, Islamic, and Indian styles. Visiting this white marble mausoleum at sunrise is a moment of pure magic, as the changing light enhances its ethereal beauty.
Agra’s historical treasures extend beyond the Taj Mahal. The Agra Fort, another UNESCO World Heritage site, stands as a testament to the city’s strategic importance during the Mughal era. Within its massive red sandstone walls lie exquisite palaces, mosques, and audience halls, such as the Jahangir Mahal and Diwan-i-Aam.
For a more tranquil experience, the Mehtab Bagh gardens across the Yamuna River offer stunning views of the Taj Mahal. As you stroll through the gardens, the symmetry and planning of Mughal landscaping become evident.
Agra is also known for its handicrafts, especially marble inlay work, leather goods, and carpets. Exploring local markets like Sadar Bazaar and Kinari Bazaar is a delightful way to shop for souvenirs and interact with local artisans.
The Royal Charm of Jaipur
The final leg of the golden triangle tour India takes you to Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, fondly known as the Pink City. Jaipur’s heritage and architecture reflect the opulence of its Rajput rulers.
Amber Fort, perched on a hill overlooking Maota Lake, is a must-visit attraction. This magnificent fort, built with red sandstone and marble, showcases a blend of Hindu and Mughal architectural styles. The Sheesh Mahal, or the Palace of Mirrors, within the fort is particularly breathtaking.
Jaipur’s City Palace complex, located in the heart of the city, offers a fascinating insight into the royal lifestyle. The palace’s museum displays an impressive collection of artifacts, including royal garments, weapons, and paintings. Nearby, the Jantar Mantar, an astronomical observatory and a UNESCO World Heritage site, highlights the scientific achievements of ancient India.
Another iconic structure is the Hawa Mahal, or the Palace of Winds. This intricately designed five-story facade allowed royal women to observe street festivities while remaining unseen. Its latticework windows create a mesmerizing play of light and shadow.
Jaipur’s vibrant bazaars, such as Johari Bazaar and Bapu Bazaar, are perfect for picking up traditional jewelry, textiles, and handcrafted items. The city is also famous for its blue pottery, a unique art form that makes for a memorable souvenir.
Cultural Experiences Along the Way
The golden triangle tour India isn’t just about visiting historical sites; it’s also an opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture. From savoring authentic North Indian cuisine to witnessing traditional dance and music performances, every moment adds a new dimension to your journey.
In Delhi, enjoy a food walk that introduces you to regional specialties like butter chicken and dal makhani. Agra’s petha, a sweet made from ash gourd, is a must-try. In Jaipur, don’t miss the famous dal baati churma, a traditional Rajasthani dish.
Cultural festivals also add vibrancy to the golden triangle tour India. Depending on the time of your visit, you might witness events like Delhi’s International Mango Festival, Agra’s Taj Mahotsav, or Jaipur’s Elephant Festival. These festivals showcase the best of local traditions, crafts, and cuisines.
Practical Tips for the Golden Triangle Tour India

History of Agra’s Monuments
This city has a rich history, even mentioned in the great epic Mahabharata Agravan, meaning’the forest of Agra. But the golden age of cities began in the Mughal Empire. Credit goes to Akbar the Great, who built this modern city of Agra on the bank of the Yamuna River.
Agra Fort (1573)
During Akber’s era, this city became the political and cultural capital of the Mughal Empire. He built several monuments, which include Agra Fort (1573), which is also a UNESCO World Heritage site. The fort is made up of red sandstone and various mosques, palaces, and gardens are situated inside the fort. This fort includes various features include Diwan-i-aam, Diwan-e-khas, and Moti Masjid.
Itmad-ud-Daulah (1628)
Even During his son Jahangir’s regime, Agra remained an important city of India. But It was Nur Jahan, the wife of Emperor Jahangir, who was considered a de facto ruler. Itmad-ud-Daulah (1628), also known as the ‘Baby Taj,’ was built by empress Nur Jahan in the memory of her father, Mirza Ghiyas Beg. The structure is surrounded by a beautiful garden and various courtyards.
Taj Mahal (1653)
However, It was Shah Jahan, the successor of Jahangir, who built one of the most iconic structures and also a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Taj Mahal (1653), in the memory of her wife, Mumtaj Mahal. Taj Mahal is not just a monument but also a symbol of Indian tourism and contributes to the economy of the city of Agra. It is considered the seventh wonder of the world. According to some historians, Shah Jahan was also planning to build the Black Taj Mahal, but it didn’t happen.
Mehtab Bagh (Early 17th Century)
Along with the Taj Mahal, Shah Jahan is also known for the construction and design of a beautiful garden known as ‘Mehtab Bagh in the early 17th century. It is located on the opposite side of the Yamuna River from the Taj Mahal, where you can see a stunning view of the beauty of the Taj Mahal. The garden is designed in traditional Mughal style.
These beautiful monuments in Agra not only represent the grandeur of the Mughal Empire but also attract millions of visitors from around the world.
