DPXDC Prompt #58 Part 6
Everything happened so fast that when Danny finally got to flop onto his bed at the Wayne manor he let himself sink into the covers with a heavy sigh. Everyone broke off into their own rooms to change into more comfortable clothing once they had arrived. Jazz and Danny both had rooms, they started out as guest rooms but were quickly personalized since they tended to spend a lot of time here. Danny even brought most of his models and other various precious items that he didn’t want broken accidentally by his parents (again). His and Jazz’s rooms were set up just like the other bedrooms in the manor, with an ensuite bathroom. They both had dressers, walk-in closets, queen sized beds with ornate nightside tables, and decent sized desks with windows looking out to the backyard garden.
They were allowed to decorate it any way they chose so Jazz had her room painted a dark teal color with an extra shelf for some books she’d been studying, most being the field of Psychology. Danny meanwhile chose to paint his room a dark blue reminiscent of the night sky, complete with glow in the dark stars and some that didn’t glow, that were painted by Damian, they had all worked together to map it all out as accurately as they could.
Danny briefly let his thoughts wander as he tried to process the day's events. Was he okay? He wasn’t even sure at the moment, he was pretty sure he was a ghost temporarily and the weirder part was the cool feeling he felt from his chest was still there.
Danny with a change of clothes in hand went into the bathroom attached to his room. He looked at his reflection again and he looked rough, his eyes were red from crying and he looked exhausted.
He turned away and quickly got into the shower to wash himself.
The water felt hot on his skin but he marveled at the fact that he could still feel it. These thoughts helped ground himself as he finished up with his shower and got dressed in the comfy PJ’s he grabbed.
He found himself staring at himself in the mirror again. He couldn’t help it, his ghostly appearance from earlier had scared him and his normal looking reflection he now had was comforting.
He looked like a normal person, like he always did, his bags were now gone. Some small part of him thought maybe it was all a dream? That small part was wrong and Danny knew it deep down, but that small part still hoped.
Did he still have a pulse? He was still breathing and he was sure his heart was still pumping so he probably had one.
Going back over to his bed he picked his phone back up and after a quick Google search on how to check and what his rate should be he held two fingers to his other hand and counted.
He ran his hands through his hair and took a shaky breath. He counted his BPM at 29 BPM while the normal rate for him was around 60. So it was now less than half what it should be. He wasn’t sure how worried he should be about that or if he should tell anyone or keep his mouth shut. He couldn’t be a meta now either. Him and Jazz had spent hours discussing what it would be like to carry the meta gene and one day get powers.
He watched his reflection from the vanity above his dresser, would he turn back into that pulseless form?
A knock startled him out of his thoughts as he let out a small yelp. He almost didn’t register his eyes that flashed green for just a moment as he felt his heart skip a beat.
“Danny! Alfred called us down for dinner, everyone else should be down soon as well…” Jazz called from the other side of his bedroom door, her voice sounding like she was trying to keep up a sense of normalcy.
“Right… coming!!” Danny replied, his eyes lingered on themselves for a moment before he let out a small sigh and grabbed his phone and followed Jazz down the hall.
A few moments passed as they walked side by side in silence, Jazz kept sneaking glances at him, like she couldn’t believe he was here either. She hesitated for a few minutes before speaking, “...Danny? Are you… Okay?” She spoke slowly like she was scared he’d disappear and at that moment he wanted to do just that.
He wasn’t sure exactly what he should tell her, he felt okay but he wasn’t exactly sure. Everything felt the same but different, everything was the same as it had been before his accident but now he felt a weird dissociation with the world around him, like he wasn’t really there. He couldn’t explain that feeling to Jazz so he shrugged.
“Honestly your guess is as good as mine as we know about the same.” Danny answered with a sigh.
Jazz gave him a look that he couldn’t quite decipher, “are you sure you should be up and around then?” Her voice was quiet again like she was afraid he’d disappear. Danny couldn’t help but stop in his tracks as he thought about it.
“I mean, nothing has happened yet? I can’t really explain it.” He rubbed the back of his neck with his hand as he looked down and refused to meet her gaze again.
He continued walking after a few seconds of uncomfortable silence and soon they arrived in the Dining room.

clip clops in on horseback wearing a pointy little dunces hat n sipping frm a rly long crazy straw tht says ‘goblin’ w all of the swirls. Hlo. i’m nai n it’s rly nice to meet u all!!! 23 n she/ha pronouns. i’m one of the three admins here (cleo lazuli on the main) n i’m literally So Excited to get started i cld honestly beat my chest like caesar the ape over it. more abt lana under the cut!!! also like this or hmu if u wna plot n her pinterest is here 👺🌚
『KRISTINE FROSETH ❙ CIS-FEMALE』 ⟿ looks like LANA JAMESON is here for HER JUNIOR year as a DANCE student. SHE is 21 years old & known to be VIVACIOUS, ALLURING, CHILDISH & IMPULSIVE. They’re living in NOLAND, so if you’re there, watch out for them. ⬳ NAI. 23. GMT. SHE/HER.
AESTHETICS:
scalding your fingers in shower water until they glow like rudolph’s nose, cherry red gym socks tugged high and nothing else, stepping out into a cold breeze in just spaghetti strapped silk, a red lightening stripe painted over your eye like a new take on the scarlet letter, crowning each finger with a miniature raspberry, hugging a knee close to lick a stripe of fruit juice off the bruised cap, doodling penises in condensation instead of sitting still, a water pistol topped with rum and covered in glittery pin-up stickers, believable smiles that feel more like baring teeth, playing where’s waldo with your lipstick in the crowd of a party and finding red on at least six people’s mouths, a bumper sticker on the back of a convertible cadillac that says ‘SCRAPPY DOO IS A FILTHY SLUT’, prancing around in your underwear to a vinyl record with the curtains open.
HISTORY:
lana grew up in a big house in albany, NY. i picture it w dark oak floors n lots of light furniture. albums framed on walls. mayb some rolling stone covers too frm way bk when of the bands her dad’s label signed. kind of like… a rock star palace w no evidence of children at all. i think i described it best in one of lana’s self paras once when i said the garden ws “as big as it was unloved”
lana’s mum victoria (vic) ws a music journalist w a pretty fruitful career ahead of her when she met lana’s dad richard (rich). his record label ws jst starting out, founded on the coattails of his rich best friend’s (jensen peters) investment w his other best friend (who he jst calls knoxville). it rocketed to success when they signed poppy injects, a rock band w an electric stage presence, n victoria ws drawn to the glitz n glamour of a man tht ws at the helm of his aspiring industry. their love ws very impulsive, all or nothing right frm the start, n it ws almost like she ws mre in love w his accomplishments n what he represented than him. jst a leetle bit Fractured in its intentions.
anyway so jameson records repped a few big rock bands bk in the eighties, altho poppy injects r who they’re mostly known fr, namely bc of hw brightly they crashed n burned. they were a big chart success bt the lead singer hd quite an intense struggle w heroin (wsnt rly subtle abt it either while he ws in the public eye as u cn probably imagine frm such an on-the-nose band name) n he ws always in n out of the papers. it eventually brought down his career n it ws a big publicity nightmare
lana pretty much… grew up around figures like this throughout childhood. rly troubled characters who wld kind of… b extremely volatile n destructive abt their troubles. the jameson house was kind of an open one as welcoming clients went n a lot of parties took place there. a lot of the time musicians wld b snorting lines in the kitchen when she wnted to grab a bowl of cereal fr breakfast n it was just. a very strange environment fr a child to grow up in
her parents always kind of jst… didn’t like her much. her older brother caleb ws unplanned bt they sort of welcomed the surprise more bt… quickly realised they weren’t cut out fr parenthood n then when lana came as another surprise 3 yrs later they didn’t even try to hide their resentment abt the situation. her mum ws actually booked in to have an abortion bt cldnt go through with it at the last minute. once when lana asked her why shes so cold towards her she jst turned her head frm her dresser, looked at her, told her abt this n said “idk why i didn’t go”. lana didn’t kno wht to say to tht so she jst left her room n closed the door
(dissociation tw) bc of this growing up lana adopted this weird like…. she didn’t rly kno what it ws bt it ws a delusion of sorts where she thought she ws a ghost. she’d jst sort of… drift around the halls w noone acknowledging her n sometimes she ws jst convinced she wsnt actually there or they cldnt see her n she ws jst haunting the house frm a previous family
the one saving grace tho tht sort of?? gt her thru this n made her feel Seen ws caleb. lana quite genuinely hs always thought the sun shines out of her older brothers ass like she jst thinks. hes the best person in the entire world. wld b rly bewildered if anyone questioned tht. he wld always look out for her in the zoo they called a home n cut the crusts off her sandwiches (he’d cook fr them most of the time bc their parents were too busy/didn’t care to) n sometimes wld even sleep at the bottom of her bed curled up like a guard dog. it ws always lana n caleb n his best friend tommy against the world in tht house (tommy lived next door n was always over bc he had very strict parents including a military father tht he found suffocating)
SO when caleb n tommy announced tht they’d signed up to the army lana ws understandably…….. completely blindsided. she ws rly upset tht they were leaving bt she tried not to b mad at them n made them promise theyd b safe n back as soon as possible. she even asked if they cld somehow take her w them n they were jst like :/ it doesn’t work that way luv x
(death tw, ptsd tw, grief tw, trauma tw, hospitalisation tw, drugs tw) anyway caleb ended up getting discharged under grounds of severe ptsd when he witnessed tommy die in an explosion tht took place in a shock raid. caleb returned home sans tommy bt he was never the same after tht. he’s been in and out of hospital twice nw n he’s currently dipped off the radar after starting to use. lana kind of felt like two of her brothers died out there in a way n jst like tht it wasn’t them vs the world any mre, it was jst her. she doesn’t talk abt this tho. when she feels the urge to cry she usually jst smiles
ANYWAY whew tht rly…. took a dark turn there….. chuckles nervously at hw sad lana’s life is bt it’s fine it’s all fINE!!!!!!! ok. so on a mre lighthearted note the jameson family r pretty well off n bc of her relation to such a big music industry figure she’s hung out w a fair few relatively high rep ppl thru her teens. mostly kids of celebrities n stuff like tht. she amassed kind of an instagram following mainly fr her style (v penny lane-esque in some aspects aka lots of fur cuff trimmed jackets bt then also jst…. a wild combination of everything honestly. pastel faux fur coats, seventies style platforms, flame red cowboy boots, pink fishnet tights n glitter used like highlight Everywhere) n bc she’s undeniably Very Pretty
(trauma tw) after caleb got back he was rly withdrawn n depressed. he shut lana out n was kind of harsh to her a lot of the time, always telling her to leave him alone or pushing her away. it didnt help either tht lana had a rly traumatic experience w some of her dad’s colleagues at the label when she ws 16 n he was away n she cldnt even tell him abt it once he was bk bc of his own traumas. she kind of jst shut it all in n kept it to herself
(hypersexuality tw) this obviously?? made her spiral a lot. she was already a girl tht loved sex (she’d only rly done foreplay before tho) but since her trauma it got…. completely out of hand. it got to a point where she couldnt rly go 2 days without it, probably not even 1. her lowest point has probably been scrolling thru craiglist for anonymous encounters n meeting up w strangers on there fr a quick fuck jst for the thrill even tho it’s insanely dangerous n she cld wind up getting herself killed. it’s v clear at this point tht she has a sex addiction whether she’s ever admitted it or not. it kind of… almost mingled w tht same feeling she used to get when she ws younger of being a ghost?? like she jst. only rly feels Real when she’s being touched
(violence tw) a mre recent point of history is her involvement w danny nielsen (an evil npc of mine who is possibly the antichrist??? pending investigation). he attended radcliffe n lived in a house w a group of guys near campus. it wsn’t a registered frat bt he essentially…ran it like one it ws kind of a weird set-up where he ws the King Of The Roost. essentially he found out tht lana n a guy called zeke slept together n he ended up beating him to near death in front of her bc his pride ws rly bruised since they were meant to be dating (if u can call it tht bc danny’s idea of dating is very Warped). ANYWAY he ws found guilty n sent to jail so it ws like Intense n a gd example of the kinds of disastrous relationships she gets herself into. perks of being a wallflower voice: We Accept The Love We Think We Deserve.
PERSONALITY:
always smells vaguely of wild cherries or strawberry starburst or jst the candy aisle in general. if she ws a vinyl record she’d b this one n she’d only play good vibrations by the beach boys, dancing on my own by robyn, play that funky music by wild cherry, femme fatale by the velvet underground n (i can’t get no) satisfaction by the rolling stones
growing up lana was always a huge social butterfly. knew everyone n everyone knew her. she ws one of those girls tht ws kind of impossible to ignore or forget. very animated, always made u feel like u were the centre of the universe whenever she spoke to u, always made it feel like u were best friends even if ud only spoken to her once.
deliberately puts on tht kind of Magnetic Alluring Act tht femme fatales wear in movies w most ppl. kind of…. is always playing A Role of the person tht she wants to b seen as. chameleons to situations. feels like she’s performed as the vivacious n fun loving Lana Jameson fr so long tht she doesn’t rly kno who she is beneath tht bt she isn’t too keen to find out
she’s always been rly spontaneous n adventurous. always doing something weird n wild every weekend. she has ten thousand ridiculously absurd n chaotic stories
uncontrollably flirty. boundlessly confident. cld make a joke out a paper bag n her comedy is sometimes surreal / absurd. she tends to laugh when she feels like crying n has a smile brighter than a ray of texas sunshine.
always dapples her fingers thru the breeze when she’s driving in a car w the window down. she almost always has some sort of sweet on her, whether it’s sour haribo cherries or strawberry lollipops.
she adores david bowie n prince n madonna n anyone tht’s a vintage style icon w little care fr what ppl think.
daisies n poppies r her fav flowers bc daisies r wild n overlooked n poppies r the first thing u look at in a green field. she’s had like 8472493874 ‘relationships’ n none of them hav lasted beyond a month / hav been terrible / hav seen her being treated badly / she’s cheated on them. i dnt think she’s actually ever been w anyone she hasn’t cheated on in some form or another
PLOTS:
exes tht lana’s fucked over hideously. she’d probably cheat a lot and it’d be a whole…mess.
mayb someone tht flipped the switch and cheated on her?
a cousin plot cld b fun too. a friend tht lana fel out w bc she slept w their significant other.
a fake dating plot cld b fun honestly
someone tht’s getting lana into drugs?? she’s kind of impressionable/down for anything so tht’s a likely scenario she’d get into tbh
an unrequited crush!! (either way is cool)
someone tht is just hanging out w her/using her bc she has a lot of instagram followers or they want to b signed to her dad’s label
someone in a band!! she’d probably make like penny lane n b their groupie/sleep w them all fgjkshgkh
umm a good influence too mayb?
oh and a past summer romance/fling tht cld either have meant a lot or not have meant anything at all. bonus points if both of them hav a diff viewpoint on it.
honestly?? anything is fine i cld ramble for days. mayb even one of the high profile kids she grew up hangin w idk. world’s our oyster fellas!
#radintro#hypersexuality tw#trauma tw#hospitalisation tw#violence tw#death tw#grief tw#ptsd tw#dissociation tw#drugs tw#ok this is literally insatiably beefy bt. feel free to jst skip right to personality n plots#anyway shrieks in glee n hits post

Surprise
A few weeks past her honeymoon, and Jessica is back to the daily grind. Bills don’t pay themselves, and as freely as Danny likes to fling money her way, she as a little too much pride to allow him to cover more than the occasional vacation or night out. If she doesn’t like to accept money from Trish, she sure as hell isn’t about to let the guy Trish is screwing pay her way.
Work at Alias Investigations has been steady and monotonous for some time now. Cheating spouses, jealous spouses that wrongly suspect cheating spouses, runaway children or long lost relatives, bitter divorcees wanting dirt dug up in custody battles, etc, etc, nothing out of ordinary or that overly engaged her interest or emotions. Not that she liked to acknowledge having any. Jessica still felt the sting of her failure to protect the children in the case of Anthony Innis, and it was a relief to be able to simply take pictures of low lives and idiots for a while instead of get into something more urgent and engaging.
Of course, someone had to go and ruin it for her. There was always some client who would.
The woman across from her was carefully groomed, her hair perfectly styled, clothes expensive and tasteful, to the point that it took all of Jessica’s will power not to immediately scrunch her nose at her, because between her appearance and her age, she was strongly reminded of her adoptive “mother,” Dorothy Walker. And of course, to make it worse, the woman’s name was Karen White- an actual living internet meme in person. Jessica couldn’t wait to tell Luke about it later, but she had to control her urge to smirk in the moment if this woman was going to give her money.
But there were a few smears in the woman’s presentation that did catch Jessica’s attention, indications of her distress that marred her otherwise flawless exterior. Although her makeup was meticulous, the corners of her eyes were red, and her manicured nails were surrounded by chewed cuticles. The woman was in distress, whether or not she wanted to give the impression otherwise.
“Jessica Cage Jones?” she introduced herself, looking her over with a slight air of disdain that Jessica herself had wanted to give off in reaction to her. “I must say, your building’s lobby and the woman in the advertisements didn’t give off the impression that you had such a casual dress code.”
Jessica’s mouth opened, ready with a sharp retort, but the woman kept talking, essentially blocking her reply.
“My name is Karen White. My husband is- was- Dr. Heath White, and I want you to vindicate him. His name, his reputation, his entire legacy has been destroyed by false conclusions, and if your skills are as impressive as Ms. Walker states, then you can set things straight.”
“Back up a minute,” Jessica responded, eyebrows raised, holding one hand up as though in a stop sign motion. “Why don’t we start with you actually giving me some kind of details about what it is you’re wanting from me, and then let me tell you whether or not I’m going to accept your case. I don’t know what impression you got, because to be honest I don’t watch our ads, but you don’t waltz in here and tell me what to do or what you think I can do, and you sure as hell don’t tell me how I should dress.”
Karen White took a breath, her eyes shifting up towards the ceiling, before she met Jessica’s again, a more civil and composed expression crossing her features.
“Yes, of course. I apologize, Ms. Cage Jones-“
“Jessica,” Jessica interrupted, exhaling. “It’s just Jessica.”
“Jessica,” Karen said stiffly. “Forgive my bluntness. It’s just that…my husband is dead, Jessica, and the cause of death that has been determined is simply….I do not accept it. I would like your assistance in investigating it further and determining whether there is any further evidence to be found that more….traditional….authorities have overlooked.”
She swallowed, then further explained. “My husband was a surgeon, and a very respected, skilled one. Last month, he…he was killed. His body was…he was set on fire.”
Jessica’s focus on the woman sharpened at this unexpected turn of the story. She observed her more closely as Karen White continued.
“It was in his place of work, or rather, in the parking garage of the hospital, but no cameras caught any so called suspicious activity, or even were supposedly angled in a way that they captured what happened to my husband- what was done to him. They say…they say that he committed suicide, that there was no evidence of any arson, or an accident. But Mrs.- Jessica- I do not believe it. I refuse to believe it. My husband had a good life, he wanted for nothing. We were happy,” she said fiercely, but there was a note underneath the emphatic tone that was almost a plea. “My husband dedicated his life to healing and helping. He would never have done such a thing to himself, and certainly not in the parking garage of his employment, where he could have endangered patients or traumatized them. Does that make sense to you, Jessica? Does that sound like something a man like my husband would have done?”
Jessica shrugged, noncommittal. She had certainly seen a lot of things stranger than that kind of decision, and unstable people didn’t tend to think clearly. She should know. Still, suicide by fire setting sounded like an act of terrorism more than seeking a way out of a life of depression.
“I would say that it sounds unusual, and a little extreme, when all kinds of pills and medicines would be way more readily available to him in his line of work,” she said. “But, that in and of itself isn’t proof.”
“Then what about this?” Karen challenged. Digging into her large purse, which Jessica noted was, of course, prominently embossed with a Coach label, she pulled out what looked like some papers printed off the internet, pushing them towards Jessica. “Two other doctors within the city over the four months, also declared suicide via setting themselves on fire. Does that sound reasonable to you, Jessica? Something is going on here, something- something sinister. Someone is killing these men, and they are deliberately setting out to ruin their names in the process!”
Jessica scanned the articles, her brow furrowing as she registered the woman’s point. It certainly did look suspicious, viewed in this light. Looking up at her, she dug through her desk drawer, pushing some papers of consent in front of her.
“Okay, I’ll accept your case, here are my terms. I don’t guarantee any outcomes, only that I will provide you with the truth. If you don’t like what you hear, that’s on you.”
“I know the truth,” Karen vowed, barely skimming the papers as she signed her name at the bottom of each. “I just want it put out there by someone who can prove it, and I hope that person is you.”
Jessica gathered the papers and stuffed them back in the drawer; although Trish had many times commented on her lack of organization, she always knew where stuff was, mostly, so what did it matter. She showed the woman to the door, only to find that a young man, maybe in his mid twenties, was waiting outside it.
“Your son?” she asked the woman, who shook her head, barely glancing at the man, before going on her way out. Jessica raised her eyebrows at him.
“Busy day,” she commented more to herself than the stranger. “You got a cheating wife, missing dog, or what?”
The young man smiled, not seeming thrown by the flippant question, but there was some uncertainty, even apprehension, in his eyes.
“You’re….you’re Jessica Jones, right?” he asked, but it sounded more like a statement than a question. “You are,” he said with more certainty, something like awe in his tone. He stared at her, seeming unable to stop taking in every aspect of her face. “I can see it. All this time, and I still see it. It’s…this is crazy.”
“What’s crazy is how you think it’s okay to stare at me like I’m some kind of porn model waving her tit tassels,” Jessica said tautly. She took a few steps back, anxiety automatically rising, and took a breath, trying to regulate herself as she snapped her fingers in front of the man’s face, breaking his stare. “Hello, I’m a human being here, and a fully dressed one in a professional setting, at that. So if you’re confused about what kind of services are being offered here, then let me set you straight-“
“No, no, I don’t….I’m sorry, I’m already screwing this up, aren’t I?” the man broke off, shaking his head, but he was still smiling, almost grinning. He took a step back, taking a breath of his own, and then said slowly but clearly, “I’m not a client, and believe me, I’m not staring for any reason near what you’re thinking. It’s just…I never even thought this was possible, and now…here we are.”
Jessica took another step back, keenly aware of her pulse picking up further. She fought back the alarm wanting to take over at the man’s odd wording and strange, intense expression, reminding herself to control, before grinding out, “Well, don’t know if I’m glad to be making your dreams come true until I know who the hell you are.”
“You don’t see it yet, do you?” the man said quietly. He held Jessica’s gaze in his as he answered. “I’m Phillip, Jessica.”
When Jessica’s expression didn’t change, he added on, emphasizing the words slowly. “Phillip Jones. I’m your brother. The one I’m guessing you were told is dead.”
For Jessica, the room seemed to spin, and all its lighting seemed to flicker in and out erratically. Because all at once she could see it, in the man’s hazel eyes, an exact match of the color of her own. She saw it in the set of his eyes, the tall, lanky structure of his body and the sharp cheekbones, a male echo of herself. Someone, he was speaking the truth. This was Phillip, her brother, in front of her, and after sixteen years, he really was alive.

crash lands a giant animatronic john travolta (wild hogs era complete w a receding hairline n leather jacket) onto the dash n dismounts frm his back without any explanation as to my vehicle...... helo........ nw tht i’ve made the world’s most unsettling entrance i wil? introduce myself. i’m nai n i’m 23 n live in Manchestoh (typed w a fitting n blood curdlingly british accent). my pronouns r she/her n i currently want a pet baby yoda i can feed strawberries to n tuck into a tiny baby yoda sized bed. anyway. lana’s pinterest can b found HERE n more abt her is under the cut!!
KRISTINE FROSETH / CIS-FEMALE — don’t look now, but is that lana jameson i see? the 21 year old dance student is in their sophomore year and she is a rochester alum. i hear they can be exuberant, alluring, childish and impulsive, so maybe keep that in mind. i bet she will make a name for themselves living in murphy’s beach homes. the one saving grace tho tht sort of?? gt her thru this n made her feel Seen ws caleb. lana quite genuinely hs always thought the sun shines out of her older brothers ass like she jst thinks. hes the best person in the entire world. wld b rly bewildered if anyone questioned tht. he wld always look out for her in the zoo they called a home n cut the crusts off her sandwiches (he’d cook fr them most of the time bc their parents were too busy/didn’t care to) n sometimes wld even sleep at the bottom of her bed curled up like a guard dog. it ws always lana n caleb n his best friend tommy against the world in tht house (tommy lived next door n was always over bc he had very strict parents including a military father tht he found suffocating)
(trauma tw) after caleb got back he was rly withdrawn n depressed. he shut lana out n was kind of harsh to her a lot of the time, always telling her to leave him alone or pushing her away. it didnt help either tht lana had a rly traumatic experience w some of her dad’s colleagues at the label when she ws 16 n he was away n she cldnt even tell him abt it once he was bk bc of his own traumas. she kind of jst shut it all in n kept it to herself
this obviously?? made her spiral a lot. she was already a girl tht loved sex (she’d only rly done foreplay before tho) but since her trauma it got…. completely out of hand. it got to a point where she couldnt rly go 2 days without it, probably not even 1. her lowest point has probably been scrolling thru craiglist for anonymous encounters n meeting up w strangers on there fr a quick fuck jst for the thrill even tho it’s insanely dangerous n she cld wind up getting herself killed. it’s v clear at this point tht she has a sex addiction whether she’s ever admitted it or not. it kind of… almost mingled w tht same feeling she used to get when she ws younger of being a ghost?? like she jst. only rly feels Real when she’s being touched
(violence tw) a mre recent point of history is her involvement w danny nielsen (an evil npc of mine who is possibly the antichrist??? pending investigation). he attended lockwood n lived in a house w a group of other guys. it wsn’t a registered frat bt he essentially…ran it like one it ws kind of a weird set-up where he ws the King Of The Roost. essentially he found out tht lana n zeke van doren (full name it’s official business Babey) slept together n he ended up beating him to near death in front of her bc his pride ws rly bruised since they were meant to be dating (if u can call it tht bc danny’s idea of dating is very Warped). ANYWAY he ws found guilty n sent dwn bt the trial ws only recent so. it was just intense all around. crosses my fingers across my chest to ward off his Evil
PERSONALITY:
growing up lana was always a huge social butterfly. knew everyone n everyone knew her. she ws one of those girls tht ws kind of impossible to ignore or forget. very animated, always made u feel like u were the centre of the universe whenever she spoke to u, always made it feel like u were best friends even if ud only spoken to her once. she has this magnetic way abt her tht is kind of hard to find in real life. it’s something ud only rly expect out of a movie character n she like. deliberately puts tht on sort of. kind of…. is always playing A Role of the person tht she wants to b seen as. chameleons to situations. feels like she’s performed as the vivacious n fun loving Lana Jameson fr so long tht she doesn’t rly kno who she is beneath tht bt she isn’t too keen to find out
she’s always been rly spontaneous n adventurous. always doing something weird n wild every weekend. she has ten thousand stories tht always earn a laugh or a gasp over how ridiculously absurd they r
uncontrollably flirty. boundlessly confident. cld make a joke out a paper bag n her comedy is sometimes surreal / absurd. she tends to laugh when she feels like crying n has a smile brighter than a ray of texas sunshine. always dapples her fingers thru the breeze when she’s driving in a car w the window down. she almost always has some sort of sweet on her, whether it’s sour haribo cherries or strawberry lollipops. she adores david bowie n prince n madonna n anyone tht’s a vintage style icon w little care fr what ppl think. daisies n poppies r her fav flowers bc daisies r wild n overlooked n poppies r the first thing u look at in a green field. she’s had like 8472493874 ‘relationships’ n none of them hav lasted beyond a month / hav been terrible / hav seen her being treated badly / she’s cheated on them. i dnt think she’s actually been w anyone she hasn’t cheated on in some form or another
PLOTS:
exes tht lana’s fucked over hideously. she’d probably cheat a lot and it’d be a whole…mess. mayb someone tht flipped the switch and cheated on her? a cousin plot cld b fun too. a friend tht lana fel out w bc she slept w their significant other. someone tht’s getting lana into drugs?? she’s kind of impressionable/down for anything so tht’s a likely scenario she’d get into tbh. an unrequited crush!! (either way is cool). someone tht is just hanging out w her/using her bc she has a lot of instagram followers or they want to b signed to her dad’s label. someone in a band!! she’d probably make like penny lane n b their groupie/sleep w them all fgjkshgkh. umm a good influence too mayb? oh and a past summer romance/fling tht cld either have meant a lot or not have meant anything at all. bonus points if both of them hav a diff viewpoint on it. honestly?? anything is fine i cld ramble for days. mayb even one of the high profile kids she grew up hangin w idk. worlds our oyster fellas!
#huntingtonintro#trauma tw#hospitalisation tw#hypersexuality tw#ptsd tw#death tw#grief tw#drugs tw#dissociation tw#this is. kind of beefy honestly bt feel free to jst skip to her personality section bc that's all u rly need to kno unless ur Curious!!

Derek/Stiles | E | ~1900w | AO3
Summary: Stiles’s research spiral sometimes lead to the strangest thoughts. Like now, when he’s wondering about all the things that could possibly glow under UV light, and what it might look like.
A/N: Written for the @fullmoonficlet challenge - prompt #280: concede A/N2: Inspired by this Reddit post (nsfw)
"There's no way that's gonna work."
"There's science that..."
"Stiles, it's not going to work," Scott tells him, shaking his head. "There's absolutely no chance."
"Look, logically, it has to work," Stiles says, looking at the screen of his laptop. "I mean—" he turns and rolls away from this desk, then faces Scott. "—crime investigators use blacklists to look for evidence, right?"
Scott nods.
"And it shows blood, among other things."
Scott nods again.
"It also shows other bodily fluids, and unlike blood, they don't need to be sprayed with luminol, they just glow all by themselves," Stiles continues. "Thus, logic dictates, if you come, and there's UV light, your dick turns into a laser cannon."
"Dude, I don't want to have the image of your dick shooting glowing semen in my head," Scott tells him and shudders. "Truth be told, I can happily live my life without an image of your dick in general. I'm totally good without that."
"You'd only see the glowing bits anyway," Stiles says, turning back to his laptop.
"Still something I don't particularly want to see," Scott mumbles. "If it's even remotely possible. I still think it's not going to work."
"What's not going to work?" Derek asks, and Stiles yelps at his sudden appearance in the door.
"Oh fuck, that's it, you need to come with one of those beepers that cars have when they reverse. Or a bell. I can probably get a bell easier," he finishes, his heart slowing down to a normal pace.
"Not going to happen," Derek tells him, then he pushes off the doorframe and walks over. "What's not going to work? Did you come up with a plan for the harpy yet?"
"Nope, he fell down a research rabbit hole," Scott answers as he stands up. "Let me know if you figure out something new. Something that's not glowing," he adds with a pointed look at Stiles.
"Ass."
"Yeah yeah, whatever," Scott says, waving his hand absent-mindedly, eyes already on the screen of his phone.
Stiles sighs, then he turns back to his laptop and reads over the post that got his mind thinking. He's already half-forgotten about the harpy that the pack's been hunting down for the past week, but then Derek clears his throat, and Stiles sighs heavily again.
"Yes, Derek?"
"So? Did you find anything?"
"Only that under UV light, dicks can turn into laser cannons," Stiles blurts, mind still not entirely on Derek's presence in the room.
"What."
The lack of proper intonation is what gets Stiles's mind to properly register that he's no longer talking to Scott, and he looks up sharply, eyes wide.
"Shit, sorry, random research spiral. Don't mind me," he says, slamming the lid of his laptop shut as he's turning away from his desk. "I got nothing on the harpy. Too much myth and not enough useful information. For once, the internet has been disappointingly useless."
Derek stares at him. It's not a new or in any way surprising reaction, because Derek tends to do that when Stiles starts to ramble about something completely unrelated to what they're supposed to be talking about. Or even things that are related. In any way, the tiny smirk emerging in the corner of Derek's lips tells Stiles that he's at least amusing, if not helpful.
His mind is still processing the whole issue of UV lights and bodily fluids, but he's actively trying to push that thought aside, what with Derek and his super sniffer being in the room. Because no, Stiles has had enough pitying (Isaac) and unimpressed (Derek) and occasionally disgusted (Jackson and sometimes Scott) looks directed at him when his libido decided that it's the right time for a dick party. He's got no chance with Derek, no hope of his crush — his dick's crush, really — to come to anything but mild disapproval of Stiles not being able to keep things like his attraction to guys under control.
So he forces his mind to the current harpy issue, and he turns back to his desk, reaching for the copy of the Argents' Bestiary that he keeps right above his laptop.
"Wanna look through this? You might be able to spot something that would help us," Stiles says, glancing over his shoulder at Derek, who's still watching him with mild amusement.
The conversation continues in the direction of research that has nothing to do with UV lights or glowing bodily fluids, and Stiles doesn't think about those things until days later after they've defeated the harpies. It comes back to him though, on and off over several months that follow, despite frequent distractions. One of those things that derail his train of thought a lot is the fact that after one of the pack's battles against yet another thing that went bump in the night, he finds himself not only alone in Derek's loft, but more importantly in Derek's bed. Kissing Derek. Because that's a thing that they're doing. And then some.
Despite everything else that's happening, Stiles doesn't let go of the thought about how come would look under a UV light, and would he need anything to enhance its luminescence.
"No," Scott says when Stiles tries to talk to him about it again. "I don't want to know. Anyway, don't you have a boyfriend now whom you could discuss this with?"
"Well, we don't get much talking done, generally," Stiles mumbles in response, his mind immediately jumping to what they usually do end up doing when together.
"And I don't want to know about that either," Scott says, then changes the topic to something else.
-=-=-
It all happens when he's finally put the issue out of his mind for longer than usual. After he and Derek spent time not only talking more but advancing in their make-out activities. Or rather, moved on from making out to what Stiles calls sex.
"We've already been having sex, Stiles," Derek tells him. "This isn't that big a deal."
"It is for me," Stiles says, curled on his side, Derek's hands wrapped around his torso, come drying on their skin.
"Okay," Derek concedes. "Then we need to talk about what else is a big deal for you," he adds. "Later. After sleep."
They do. They talk, they do things, they relish in every free moment they get to spend on mutual handjobs, on blowjobs, and later on fucking each other every chance they get.
Like the party that the pack decides to throw in the loft after Derek's found a more suitable place to live in town. The loft is perfect for their gatherings, some small and involving only the pack, others... not so much.
Danny's done a fantastic job organizing a blacklight party, not dissimilar to the one that got invaded by the Oni, the one that Derek had very much not approved of. There are people dancing everywhere, teeth glowing white, speckles of paint all over the place, and some suspicious stains in places Stiles doesn't want to think about too much. At least not while he's busy trying to get Derek to dance with him, with the help of half their pack.
"I may have miscalculated," he mutters to himself when eventually Erica manages to drag Derek out of his grumpy shell and gets him to sway his hips in ways that get Stiles very much hot and bothered.
It doesn't take long before he joins them on the makeshift dance floor, his own dancing no match to what Erica has managed to coerce Derek into. Still, it gets him close to Derek, it gets Derek's hands on Stiles's hips as he's trying to match their swaying, and it very much also gets Stiles's ass in the close proximity of Derek's crotch. Which in turn leads to Derek leading him away from the crowd, and up the winding stairs to what used to be his bedroom back when he still lived here. At least after he moved the bed from the main area of the loft into one of the smaller rooms upstairs.
There are several bedrooms, all still with beds and the pack's belongings all over, because they do sometimes use the loft as a home away from home. Derek's room is, however, only sparsely decorated and looks barely lived in — he prefers to head out to his own place unless it's an absolute emergency. That also means that it doesn't have basic necessities — according to Stiles, at least — like condoms and lube, because when they do stay here, it's when the rest of the pack is around too. Werewolf hearing it the biggest cock blocker in the world — Stiles is a lot of things, but neither he nor Derek are too keen on exhibitionism and traumatizing their pack members.
Tonight though, tonight is different. Because there's a loud party going on downstairs, and that means the noise is loud enough to drown out everything else. Including Stiles's loud moans when Derek decides to rim him until Stiles begs to be fucked. And then the begging that follows.
The lights are out, and Stiles doesn't mind, even though normally he'd prefer to see Derek's face. But since Derek's behind him it's a moot point anyway and Stiles moans loudly when he feels Derek's dick rub against the cleft of his ass, sliding up and down, head catching on Stiles's rim.
"Condoms are overrated," he mumbles, sticking his ass up higher to try and signal to Derek that he's all about the barebacking as long as it gets him fucked.
Derek doesn't move in the direction Stiles wants him to. Instead, he grips Stiles's cock and starts stroking in the same rhythm as he's sliding his own cock between the globes of Stiles's ass, bringing them both to the brink of orgasm faster than Stiles would want to be there. The bass of the music downstairs sets the tempo, and Stiles can't do much more than grip the sheets under his fingers and breathe as his heart races, his balls draw tight, and his whole body trembles from the attempts to stave off his orgasm as much as he can.
But then Derek's thumb flicks over the sensitive underside of Stiles's dick, and that's it, Stiles falls over the edge and come spurts out of his dick right onto the sheets just as he feels Derek's come shoot across his back.
He's catching his breath while his body is still trembling a little when he hears the harsh gasp from the doorway. When Stiles looks over, he sees Scott standing there, barely visible in the dim light of a lantern that casts the room into violet light that illuminates Scott's body paint.
"Okay, point conceded, come does glow under UV light," Scott says into the silence, his voice cracking. "Not that I wanted to ever find out. Especially not like this. Sorry for barging in, didn't know you guys were here."
From behind Stiles, Derek growls quietly, but obviously loud enough for Scott to hear and to get the message. The door slams closed, and two beats pass before Stiles falls right onto the wet spot on the bed, his body shaking with laughter.
"Man, I wish I'd seen it," he says, voice muffled by the pillow under his face.
Derek's heavy sigh is enough to tell him not to pursue that avenue of thought any further. At least not yet. He lets Derek pull him to one side of the bed, and they fall asleep with their fingers intertwined and resting on Stiles's stomach. Before he drifts off completely, he promises himself to try and find a way to see the luminescence that Scott inadvertently walked in on.

Danny had pulled through the morning barely. He supposed having done it so long, he was operating on auto pilot. Which, growing up in a family that only cared about appearances had taught Danny how to do things his head wasn’t really in. Especially in front of crowds, paparazzi, reporters.
A few customers was no large task for him.
He listened to the girl in front of him stumble off an order, his face pinned in a picturesque customer service smile, and turned the screen towards her when she finally got her words out. Danny could tell he girl was just nervous, so he was patient as she continued to ramble as she paid, and let his dimples show in a real smile when he handed her an iced coffee. She blushed while taking the cup.
As the next came up to order, he processed the words next to him several moments after they’d passed. Operating on auto pilot indeed.
Danny jerked his head towards Fume. He heard the older lady in front of him shake the bills she held out as Danny ignored her for just a split second to look as he scanned Fume’s altered apron. Well, he supposed he couldn’t fight everything. If he was truly being honest with himself anyway, he wasn’t too displeased with it.
Clearing his throat and looking back at the customer, Danny gave the customer her change and stepped back a couple steps from the register. He grabbed a cup and met Fume’s eyes again. After he’d convinced himself there was no way she could read minds and she was simply referring to their very real meeting the night before, he gestured to her apron.
“I suppose I can deal with that, since you’re here on time. Thank you,” he said, the last part definitely coming out stiffer than the rest. Danny made the woman’s drink as he contemplated on what Fume could do. In the end, he decided it best to let her decide. Turning to give the customer her drink, he wiped his hands on his own apron. “You’ve got two choices for today. Register and recipes with me, or floor with Ashley.” He glanced over at the floor, where Ashely and another employee dashed like mad between the tables.
Any sane person would pick the slower register, but Danny hoped Fume was a little insane as he looked at her, a crinkle in his brow.

Delilah felt like her stomach was going to fall out of her ass. She was quite sure she saw actual blood dripping off the man’s gloves. And she did not do blood. It wasn’t some minor, weak distaste for it, Delilah despised it. Every time she saw it, the stench and color brought her straight back to when Danny had busted his head open on a rock when she was six. It wasn’t a particularly traumatic experience, but it was the first time she had ever seen blood in that amount. And smelled it.
God, that was absolutely the worst part of it all. She refrained from clapping her hand over her nose as she kept staring at the gloves. Her eyes were focused on them so heavy, that even though she’d seen the man wearing them, it wasn’t until he blocked her sight of the gloves that she realized who it was. And then she felt like her stomach was going to split in two and come out both ways. Her mouth dropped open just slightly. This was the man who’d made her look like a fool in front of everyone.
Okay, well, she had done it to herself, but Delilah could place at least a little bit of blame on the man. He could have accepted it a little more gracefully. Also possibly not have threatened her. That wasn’t cool.
Delilah narrowed her eyes, cheeks heating up in annoyance and mild fear. She couldn’t quite place it, but even though he was possibly one of the most attractive men she had seen in the states, he also made her want to back out of the lessons right then and there. But, she wasn’t a quitter. Stubborn to the worst of faults, Delilah just crossed her arms. “I don’t know, box, maybe?” She quipped, raising an arched brow.

Ectober Day 6: Ghost Hunger
I owe everyone a bit of an explanation before we dive into this fever dream. Yes, I know exactly what ghost hunger refers to, but it just isn’t my thing. It’s a neat concept, but I don’t really find it fun to write for, or even read, except in the rarest of cases. I can stand it if it advances an innovative plotline, but just for its own sake…meh.
So I didn’t have any idea what I was going to do for day 6. I considered skipping it, but that felt like admitting defeat. With this in the back of my mind, I was scrolling through tumblr, as one does, and found this lovely piece by @schnivel.
One of my favorite things about schnivel’s style is the dynamic quality all of his characters have. I don’t know how to explain it, but it draws the viewer in, and sells that these characters are real. Complex emotions are portrayed and conveyed with such ease, I get that creative itch every time. I love everything in your art tag, it makes me so happy. Thank you for sharing!
But anyway. In this particular piece, I love the angle of the external light and the ambient light radiating from the suspiciously viscous fluid clinging to his hands. I think it was the combination of the fluid consistency, color choice, and blood connection that did it.
So as my mind tends to do when I’m tired and see something emotionally charged, it took a running nosedive off the deep end into absurdist territory.
So here is a fic inspired by color choice, texture, and my traumatic experiences with product promotion as a child of the 90s and early 2000s. I am so sorry but also kind of not. Please forgive me, schnivel. Thank you so much for letting me ruin the mood. And seriously, check out schnivel’s blog!
(Sorry for all the notes. Commentary at the end.)
Summary: When a popular variety of novelty ketchup is discontinued, the ghost population of Amity Park clashes over who will claim the last box.
Warnings: Customer service feels, light innuendo
Word Count: ~1700
“You do realize that’s disgusting,” Sam deadpanned, looking on with a mixture of mild horror and disgust as Danny smothered his hotdog in a quantity of green slime that could only be defined as excessive. Somehow it was impossible to turn away. Tucker didn’t seem to share the sentiment, busying himself with his PDA.
Spurred on by the attention, Danny looked Sam dead in the eyes, staring unflinchingly into their icy, amethyst depths while cramming as much of the sandwich into his mouth as possible.
Only to aim a tad low, bumping into his lower lip. Time seemed to slow down as blue eyes widened comically in surprise, hand contracting around the bun reflexively, coaxing gobs of the novelty ketchup to ooze out the back and coat the front of his favorite t-shirt, soaking into white fabric with karmatic vengeance.
Sam and Tucker witnessed the following shift from shock to sudden horror at the state of his shirt became clear. They glanced at each other, unprompted, then lost it completely, howling with laughter as Danny dropped his ‘dog to scrub frantically at his chest with a wad of the worse-than-useless paper napkins the school provided that screamed government subsidy. His response time was impressive, but the damage was done: a prominent, verdant dribble trail clearly illustrated the tragedy that unfolded at lunch that day.
“Are you kidding me? I still have half the day to go,” Danny moaned, hands running anxiously through already messy hair.
“Just phase it off!” Tucker pointed out helpfully, returning to his PDA as chuckles died down into amused sympathy.
“Tuck, intangibility doesn’t remove stains. It’s set too far in the fabric. Otherwise laundry would be so much easier. Hmm.” Danny took a moment to consider the potential, wondering if that was how Vlad managed to keep his ghostwear so pristine. Maybe if he could concentrate his focus…
“You had it coming. I don’t understand why you insist on consuming that promotional garbage.” Sam rolled her eyes derisively.
“Because it’s the best!” Danny insisted. Sam and Tucker shared a look, resigned to their friend’s strange obsession.
Danny didn’t know what it was, but ever since that popular condiment brand out of Pittsburgh developed a line of novelty ketchup, he was hooked. It came in all sorts of unappetizing colors, like green and purple, and the cringe-worthy ad campaign made Danny wonder if the whole thing was an elaborate prank. But it eventually showed up at the discount food distributer his family frequented, and he bought it himself, despite Jazz’s teasing. Funny. He swears he’s caught her using it more than once when she thought he wasn’t around.
While Jazz was exasperated by the blatant exploitation of the mindset of the lower middle working class, Sam objected to the artificial dyes and preservatives, and Tucker insisted it was nothing less than an insult to the integrity of meat, whatever that was supposed to mean. Maybe the dye makes it taste a bit different. Maybe he just gets a kick out of eating food in weird colors and watching his friends squirm. Heck, maybe he’s just been desensitized by enough mutant, home-cooked meals that something so harmless but strange fills him with nostalgia. Whatever the case, Danny couldn’t seem to get enough of the stuff. He even started taking it to school with him as a fun way to avoid looking too closely at what was on his tray.
“Uh oh, dude,” Tucker chuckled, bringing up a specific news article on his PDA. “Looks like your days of ruining hot dogs are numbered.”
“You’re kidding. Please tell me you’re kidding,” Danny begged.
“Afraid not,” Tucker grinned, sliding his tech across the table to deliver the news firsthand.
Blue eyes widened in horror, before the teenager collapsed onto the table dramatically with a moan. “Why is it that as soon as I discover something awesome, it’s gone?”
“Honestly, that’s probably why it appeared on the shelves at Hubert’s in the first place,” Sam remarked flippantly, preferring to pick at chipping nail polish than acknowledge the lump of pouting teenager currently occupying half the table.
“Yeah, brand names are always too good to be true in places like that,” Tucker nodded sagely, patting Danny on the shoulder in mock sympathy.
Danny hauled himself upright with a sigh. “Nothing else for it. I’ll just have to go after school and stockpile all the bottles I can. They can’t be out yet.”
“How are you out?! It was just here less than a week ago!”
But the dramatics of a ketchup-crazed teenager were no match for the practiced apathy projected by the young but seasoned customer service guru manning the register, six hours into a ten hour shift.
“Look, man, I just work here. There’s plenty of purple,” she sighed, glazed eyes carelessly roaming to glace at the condiments section, poking at her monitor screen.
“It doesn’t taste the same,” Danny moaned, prompting a significant look to pass between the duo accompanying him. They had no idea why they thought it would be a good to tag along on this juvenile side quest. This was just embarrassing.
“Huh,” the cashier remarked offhandedly. “Looks like we might have one more box in the back. I’ll go check, if you want…” she trailed off unenthusiastically, distracted by the hopefully bobbing shock of black hair that wouldn’t leave her alone unless she made a show of effort. With a long-suffering sigh, the underpaid civil servant shuffled off to the back, teenagers at her heels until she ducked behind a wildly swinging door, a scuffed sheet of plastic shoved haphazardly into the gateway in a pathetic effort to separate customer-friendly space from the chaos of the warehouse.
The friends waited attentively, then with growing annoyance, Sam scuffing the chipping tile with heavy boots as the minutes ticked by. Around fifteen minutes in, Tucker decided to call it.
“I think she just blew you off, dude.”
“No way,” Danny insisted. “She’s just being thorough.”
At that moment, a familiar figure slouched out from behind the off-white mockery of a barrier. Danny drooped visibly at the lack of bottles in her arms.
“Welp, I found it.” Danny perked up. “Where is it?”
“In the back.” She continued to amble through the aisles, not even bothering to glance at the irritating customer as she returned to the front. Danny followed her, confused.
“And?” he ventured.
“What?” she asked, uncapping a company pen to doodle on a scrap of receipt paper, pointedly ignoring the nuisance in the vain hope it would leave her in peace.
Danny barely restrained himself in time to prevent throwing his arms up in exasperation. “Can I have some?” he dared to ask. The girl acted like she didn’t hear him, outlining a cartoonish face with care, allowing him to stew for a while.
She finally raised hazel orbs full of resignation to meet his. “You somehow manage to get it down, you can just have it.” The just leave me alone was implied. Heavily.
Danny lit up. “Really?”
“Yeah, yeah,” she waved him away, returning to her receipt sketch.
“Thanks!” Danny called over his shoulder, already on his way to claim his prize.
“That was kind of weird,” Sam observed.
“Oh, come on Sam, why do you have to be so pessimistic all the time? She probably couldn’t reach it. All Danny has to do is float up to the shelf, and we’re out of here,” Tucker said, confidently leading the way into the dark space, the main light coming from a desk equipped with a dated microwave and littered with the remains of hurried lunches.
It was kind of weird being behind the scenes. The air felt heavy, stale. It was difficult to shake the uneasy feeling that they dismissed, at first, with being in a restricted area, but that quickly faded into the background.
A puff of cold air suddenly expanded, forcing its way up a certain ghostly throat and expelling in a bluish cloud as it forced vapor in the surrounding air to condense.
“Nice going, Tuck,” Sam punched him lightly in the shoulder.
Danny ignored the exchange, quickly “going ghost” and floating up to investigate. And was not at all surprised to find the Lunch Lady and the Box Ghost playing a less-than-friendly game of tug-of-war with the box of sauce. Okay, maybe he was surprised; he didn’t know either of them had a subtle bone in their bodies…if they had bones. Or bodies. Gah.
He was honestly kind of impressed that they had avoided detection for so long, and wondered if the cashier’s composure spoke to her merit, or to the horrors of customer service. Danny resolved to be nicer to customer service associates.
From there, it was “doom” this and “beware” that. Danny threw some ectoblasts, repelled some processed meat products, brushed off some boxes. It was amazing how much more annoying the two of them were working together. But, still, not even really a challenge, so the half ghost made short work of the duo, while trying not to think too hard about the implications of this team up. A certain young ghost from an alternate future came to mind…
Danny chased the pair off, trying not to think about the two of them sharing a thermos. He was all too glad to claim his prize and head home. It had been an interesting afternoon.
Despite the strange start, the pair of friends thought that the day was pretty successful. As a result, neither Tucker nor Sam were expecting the caricature of despair that greeted them on the front steps of Fenton Works come morning.
“Dare we ask?” Sam muttered.
Tucker sighed, shaking his head. “He’ll let us know soon enough.”
Somewhere in Wisconsin, a certain blue-skinned half ghost emerged from his portal, shiftily checking the entrance before ducking through with his prize.
What am I doing? I live alone.
Still, one could never be too careful. It wouldn’t do to have Daniel catch wind of this. He certainly would never admit it, but he couldn’t help the strange nostalgia it inspired; the off-putting color instilled him with a strange longing for cheap meals of questionable quality cooked with a certain pair of paranormal science students. He still had his dignity after all.
A/N: Anyone who’s ever worked retail knows the best way to get rid of a persistent customer and score an extra break in the process is to “check” the back. Seriously, most places know what they have in the back due to the magic of inventory, but for some reason, that middle-aged woman with too much makeup will not leave us alone, insisting we check the back because she thinks we’re idiots (you know the type). And how dare we come back without checking thoroughly. The cashier probably found the ketchup in less than a minute, determined retrieval was impossible, then spent the rest of the time on her phone. Of course, like 10% of the time, there really is extra in the back so I can’t exactly fault them, but we could do without the condescension.
So…yeah. I think my mind kind of mashed together the fact that the show took place in the 2000s with the fact that ketchup looks vaguely like blood, and the drawing used the two major colors of Heinz’s horrendous EZ Squirt line. As a child who begged for this ketchup, then refused to eat it, I can understand the initial appeal, but it got gross fast, and I didn’t finish the bottle. What can I say, it tasted off to me. I feel like I read about some human instinct regarding food safety contributing to that at some point. But I still remember this product, especially the commercials, with horror.
Thank you so much to @schnivel for the inspiration! Hope everyone enjoyed it!

Fluffy ducks and fudge monkeys. I am beginning to wish I gave up blogging after all. What a week. In a good way, but lordy, what a week.
Now for those who don’t know, I am a National Transport Manager by day. International if you take into account that I also look after Ireland. This year we are launching quite a change to our systems and it means quite a few depot visits as a result. Depot visits mean early mornings. Not so bad when it’s my local depot, a bit more painful when it’s not. This week was not. Typically, when at home my day starts between 08:00 and 08:30 and lasts until around 17:30 to 18:00. Not too bad, huh. If I’m at a depot, my days starts at 06:30. When I’m travelling to said depot the same day, this can typically mean my day starting at 03:00… I’ll just leave that thought there.
This week I have also had quite a bit on book wise. Not book post wise, I should clarify. I’m back to my usual zero envelopes through the door again this week lol. No biggie as I picked up just one or two new titles myself while out and about. No. This week I had a few bookish events on and as I stop now to write this post, I think I’ve worked out why I’m a little bit tired. I’ll just lay out my week for you. See what you think.
Monday:
Up at 02:00. Leave home at 03:15 and arrive in Bracknell at 06:00 after a short coffee break at Oxford services. Spend day with visitors from two of our European subs and leave RDC at around 14:30. Head to hotel in Twickenham for the night.
15:30 head to Richmond for train into London. Have another cup of coffee and do a bit of reading. Catch 17:00 train from Richmond into London to attend my first ever First Monday crime. Fabulous evening spent in the company of bookish friends and listening to Mark Edwards, Ann Cleeves, Lilja Sigurdardottir and Caz Frear talk about their books with Rod Reynolds. Nice to catch up with Karen Sullivan, albeit briefly. She invites me to Lilja’s book launch on Wednesday at the Icelandic Embassy no less. 😁
Post event head to the pub for a brief catch up with Jacob Collins, Katherine Sunderland, Victoria Goldman, Joy Kluver, Timea Cassera, Karen Sullivan, Gabriela Harding and Amer Anwar. Head back to Richmond for the short drive back to the hotel. Arrive back at the hotel 22:30. Head to bed. Phew.
Tuesday:
Up at 04:45 to shower and get ready for the day ahead. Do a touch of blogmin and leave the hotel around 05:50 for what now feels like the ten-mile hike back to the car park (only because I’m tired and it’s early). Arrive at RDC around 06:30. Spend the morning with the visitors and doing some budget work then leave Bracknell at around 12:45 to drive back home. Arrive home around 15:15 with a brief stop at Oxford services for coffee and cous cous. Don’t ask.
Wednesday:
Lie In!!! Up at normal o’clock (whatever that means) and leave home at 09:15 for the drive into London (yes again). Meet my Estate Agent in Greenford to go and take a look at a couple of industrial units as we are searching for extra property around the capital. Look at units – very interesting (not). Head back towards Richmond and kill a bit of time in Caffe Nero, managing emails, doing some budget work and catching up on everything I miss while driving. Buy my team a lovely Danish pastry bar (I’m nice like that) and then head into London for the book launch. Arrive a tad too early so grab a coffee and do some more emails (as you do) and buy a few books. Well I was in Waterstones. Seemed rude not to. 17:30 I make the short walk to the Icelandic Embassy and attend the book launch. Fabulous evening had by all.
Had a great evening getting to know Jacky Collins, and meeting Barry Forshaw and Leigh Russell as well as catching up with Timea and Karen again. Leave the party around 20:00 for short trip back to my car and the oh so brief drive home. Still Wednesday when I arrive back and head to bed. Just…
Thursday:
Head into the office for 08:30. Normal day of boring spreadsheets. Feed my Admin team their Danish pastry. It keeps them quiet for a bit. Clear down some more emails. They now stand at nearly 2000 messages in the in box. Manage them down to a marginally less depressing 1700. Leave work at 17:30. Woohoo. Do my laundry. Not so woohoo.
Friday:
Rinse and repeat Thursday. Well not quite. I had mushroom and tomato on toast for breakfast and, after another day of spreadsheet and budget hell, emails sit at around 1800. Had to do a grocery shop after work. Is there anything worse? Download a very special book from Netgalley and start reading, forgetting all other books in progress (sorry other authors).
Saturday:
Wake up at 05:00 with Kindle on my face… Quite impressive as would have expected it to fall off during the night. Finish reading my book and write-up a draft review for the publisher. Go me. Read another book and then at 15:00 leave home to drive to Crickhowell. Lovely evening spent listening to first Matt Johnson and John Sutherland speak about their personal experiences dealing with PTSD arising from their work with the Police, and their writing as a form of therapy. Stop on afterward to watch Matt interview author Harry Bingham.
Very entertaining and fun evening. Leave Crickhowell around 21:00 and drive home. Still Saturday when I arrive back and head to bed. Just …
Sunday:
Wake up reaaaaaaaaaaly late (well 09:00). Get washed and dressed and head into town for a coffee, a read and a teeny bit of shopping. Head home and keep falling asleep while reading my book. Cannot for the life of me think why…
Any ideas anyone?
Now this is not a typical week. To be fair, when booking to go to Crickhowell, none of the rest of this work week had been planned. I was meant to be at home all week. It was meant to be easy – your typical 9 hour office based days etc. But you know what else? I don’t regret a minute of it.
Yes. As I write this my eye lids feel like they want to sit in my lap – I’m not getting any younger after all and these late nights are a bugger – but I had a wonderful week. And all of that driving allowed me to clear another audio book off my list so I’m very happy about that too. And I had lovely compliments about my reviews this week from some fabulous authors. Makes the fatigue feel worth it. 😀
…
Speaking of books, no book post as I said, but I did pick up some lovely books on my travels, some of them signed too. This week I bought physical copies of Snare by Lilja Sigurdardottir, Sweet Little Lies by Caz Frear, The Man Who Died by Antti Tuomainen, The Unquiet Dead by Ausma Zehanat Khan, Blue by John Sutherland and The Dead House by Harry Bingham.
There is a small chance I may have bought/preordered a few other books. Like Murder at the Grand Raj Palace by Vaseem Khan, Dying Day by Stephen Edger, Blue (ecopy) by John Sutherland (well I can’t read a signed book…) and the hard copy of the CWA Short Story Anthology from Goldsboro Books.
Netgalley… just two. Two… Barely even registers. Shadows by Paul Finch and Broken Bones by Angela Marsons.
Reading wise I’ve had a stonking week. Five, yes five, books read or listened to. Yee haw. My tbr doesn’t stand a chance. If I’d just stop buying more books that is …
Books I have read
Christmas at the Falling Down Guest House by Lilly Bartlett
Put your feet up and tuck into the mince pies, because you won’t have to lift a finger to enjoy this Christmas!
Too bad the same can’t be said for single mother and extremely undomestic goddess, Lottie. When her beloved Aunt Kate ends up in hospital just before Christmas, Lottie and her seven-year-old daughter rush to rural Wales to take over her B&B. A picky hotel reviewer and his mad family are coming to stay, and without the rating only he can give them, Aunt Kate will lose her livelihood.
But Lottie can barely run her own life, let alone a hotel. How will she manage to turn the falling-down guesthouse into the luxurious wonderland the reviewer expects? And could the mysterious taxi driver, Danny, who agrees to help her, turn out to be the real gift this season?
As the snow sparkles on the trees and hot chocolate steams in your hand, snuggle into the delicious magic of Christmas at the Falling-Down Guesthouse.
Short but sweet, this was a great way to start the week. You’ll get my thoughts on publication day but this is full of chuckles, sweet moments and a kind of ‘The Money Pit’ vibe that just had me smiling from start to finish. You can preorder a copy here.
…
London Noir by Ann Girdharry
Memory loss, nightmares, the urge to kill – Sophie has it all. Is it really Post Traumatic Stress Disorder? Or something more sinister? Kal is about to find out…
After a near-fatal road accident, Kal helps a young girl in trouble.
The girl’s friends are being murdered one by one. Why? And who by? Kal must kick start herself out of her downward spiral to save the young stranger. But Kal is in the grip of the London Cartel and is someone after the girl, or is the girl after someone?
The second book in the Kal Medi series sees Kal trying to help a young girl, Sophie, who appears to be in some kind of trouble. Perhaps not as action packed as its predecessor, I still really enjoyed the book, loving Kal’s independent if somewhat troubled spirit. You can see my thoughts in a couple of weeks, and order the book for yourselves here.

Perfect Remains by Helen Fields
On a remote Highland mountain, the body of Elaine Buxton is burning. All that will be left to identify the respected lawyer are her teeth and a fragment of clothing.
In the concealed back room of a house in Edinburgh, the real Elaine Buxton screams into the darkness…
Detective Inspector Luc Callanach has barely set foot in his new office when Elaine’s missing persons case is escalated to a murder investigation. Having left behind a promising career at Interpol, he’s eager to prove himself to his new team. But Edinburgh, he discovers, is a long way from Lyon, and Elaine’s killer has covered his tracks with meticulous care.
It’s not long before another successful woman is abducted from her doorstep, and Callanach finds himself in a race against the clock. Or so he believes … The real fate of the women will prove more twisted than he could have ever imagined.
Fans of Angela Marson, Mark Billingham and M. J. Aldridge will be gripped by this chilling journey into the mind of a troubled killer.
I’ve had this on the TBR for a while and finally got a chance to listen to the audio book version thanks to all my travels this week. What a book. Luc Callanach is certainly an intriguing character and I can’t wait to get stuck into the next in the series soon. I’ll be sharing my thoughts with you in the coming weeks, but in the meantime you can order a copy here.

Broken Bones by Angela Marsons
They thought they were safe. They were wrong.
The murder of a young prostitute and a baby found abandoned on the same winter night signals the start of a disturbing investigation for Detective Kim Stone – one which brings her face to face with someone from her own horrific childhood.
As more sex workers are murdered in quick succession, each death more violent than the last, Kim and her team realise that the initial killing was no one-off frenzied attack, but a twisted serial killer preying on the vulnerable.
At the same time, the search begins for the desperate woman who left her newborn baby at the station – but what looks like a tragic abandonment turns even more sinister when a case of modern slavery is uncovered.
The two investigations bring the team into a terrifying world of human exploitation and cruelty – and a showdown that puts Kim’s life at risk as shocking secrets from her own past come to light.
Oh how I have waited for this book. And yes, this was the book I abandoned all other reads for. Totally worth it. You will find out how much in my review on publication day although readers of my blog with a weak constitution may want to give it a miss… 😀 In the meantime, preorder your copy of this, the seventh!!! Kim Stone book right here.

Christmas at Hope Cottage by Lily Graham
In the little village of Whistling, with its butterscotch cottages and rolling green hills, snow is beginning to fall. Christmas is coming, and Emma Halloway is on her way home.
When twenty-eight-year-old food writer Emma Halloway gets dumped then knocked off her bike, she’s broken in more ways than one, and returns to her family’s cosy cottage in the Yorkshire Dales. Emma hasn’t been back in some time, running from her crazy relatives and her childhood sweetheart, Jack Allen.
Emma’s grandmother is determined to bake her back to health and happiness, as the Halloways have done for generations. Surrounded by old friends and warm cinnamon buns, Emma starts to believe in her family’s special talents for healing again. But then in walks Jack with his sparkling hazel eyes, stirring up the family feud between them.
As the twinkly lights are strung between the streetlamps, Emma remembers just why she fell for Jack in the first place… and why a Halloway should never date an Allen.
The infuriating new lodger, Sandro, doesn’t believe anyone should have to choose between love and family. With a little bit of Christmas magic, can Emma and Jack find a way to be together, or will Emma find herself heartbroken once more?
An utterly gorgeous Christmas romance about the importance of family, freshly baked biscuits, and learning to trust your heart.
Yes. Another Christmas book. And it’s not even my Christmas feature month yet lol. Well. I’ll be sharing my thoughts on this lovely festive treat of a book with you in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, if you like to indulge in just a touch of Christmas magic, why not preorder a copy here.

strides in thru a bead curtain swirling a martini glass n accidentally sloshing it onto my own toes without noticing........ Hlo. my name’s nai n i’m 23 (:/ only jst turned it on the 23rd october n frankly i’m nt used to it yet i feel like rose frm the titanic, 84 n withered) frm manchester in the uk. jst gna go ahead n dive right in bt. OH u can find her pinterest here. ok bye
BRIDGET SATTERLEE / CIS-FEMALE. — lana jameson is really making a name for themselves as a sheep. i think that she is studying dance in their junior year at lockwood, living in alpha nu. originally from albany, NY, lana is known to be vivacious & alluring, but can also be childish & impulsive. — nai / 23 / gmt / she/her.
aesthetics: scalding your fingers in shower water until they glow like rudolph’s nose, cherry red gym socks tugged high and nothing else, stepping out into a cold breeze in just spaghetti strapped silk, a red lightening stripe painted over your eye like a new take on the scarlet letter, crowning each finger with a miniature raspberry, hugging a knee close to lick a stripe of fruit juice off the bruised cap, doodling penises in condensation instead of sitting still, a water pistol topped with rum and covered in glittery pin-up stickers, believable smiles that feel more like baring teeth, playing where’s waldo with your lipstick in the crowd of a party and finding red smudges on at least six people’s mouths, a bumper sticker on the back of a convertible cadillac that says ‘SCRAPPY DOO IS A FILTHY SLUT’, prancing around in your underwear to a vinyl record with the curtains open.
BACKGROUND:
lana grew up in a big house in albany, NY. i picture it w dark oak floors n lots of light furniture. albums framed on walls. mayb some rolling stone covers too frm way bk when of the bands her dad’s label signed. kind of like... a rock star palace w no evidence of children at all. i think i described it best in one of lana’s self paras once when i said the garden ws “as big as it was unloved”
lana’s mum victoria (vic) ws a music journalist w a pretty fruitful career ahead of her when she met lana’s dad richard (rich). his record label ws jst starting out, founded on the coattails of his rich best friend’s (jensen peters) investment w his other best friend (who he jst calls knoxville). it rocketed to success when they signed poppy injects, a rock band w an electric stage presence, n victoria ws drawn to the glitz n glamour of a man tht ws at the helm of his aspiring industry. their love ws very impulsive, all or nothing right frm the start, n it ws almost like she ws mre in love w his accomplishments n what he represented than him. jst a leetle bit Fractured in its intentions.
anyway so jameson records repped a few big rock bands bk in the eighties, altho poppy injects r who they’re mostly known fr, namely bc of hw brightly they crashed n burned. they were a big chart success bt the lead singer hd quite an intense struggle w heroin (wsnt rly subtle abt it either while he ws in the public eye as u cn probably imagine frm such an on-the-nose band name) n he ws always in n out of the papers. it eventually brought down his career n it ws a big publicity nightmare
lana pretty much... grew up around figures like this throughout childhood. rly troubled characters who wld kind of... b extremely volatile n destructive abt their troubles. the jameson house was kind of an open one as welcoming clients went n a lot of parties took place there. a lot of the time musicians wld b snorting lines in the kitchen when she wnted to grab a bowl of cereal fr breakfast n it was just. a very strange environment fr a child to grow up in
her parents always kind of jst... didn’t like her much. her older brother caleb ws unplanned bt they sort of welcomed the surprise more bt... quickly realised they weren’t cut out fr parenthood n then when lana came as another surprise 3 yrs later they didn’t even try to hide their resentment abt the situation. her mum ws actually booked in to have an abortion bt cldnt go through with it at the last minute. once when lana asked her why shes so cold towards her she jst turned her head frm her dresser, looked at her, told her abt this n said “idk why i didn’t go”. lana didn’t kno wht to say to tht so she jst left her room n closed the door
(dissociation tw) bc of this growing up lana adopted this weird like.... she didn’t rly kno what it ws bt it ws a delusion of sorts where she thought she ws a ghost. she’d jst sort of... drift around the halls w noone acknowledging her n sometimes she ws jst convinced she wsnt actually there or they cldnt see her n she ws jst haunting the house frm a previous family
the one saving grace tho tht sort of?? gt her thru this n made her feel Seen ws caleb. lana quite genuinely hs always thought the sun shines out of her older brothers ass like she jst thinks. hes the best person in the entire world. wld b rly bewildered if anyone questioned tht. he wld always look out for her in the zoo they called a home n cut the crusts off her sandwiches (he’d cook fr them most of the time bc their parents were too busy/didn’t care to) n sometimes wld even sleep at the bottom of her bed curled up like a guard dog. it ws always lana n caleb n his best friend tommy against the world in tht house (tommy lived next door n was always over bc he had very strict parents including a military father tht he found suffocating)
SO when caleb n tommy announced tht they’d signed up to the army lana ws understandably........ completely blindsided. she ws rly upset tht they were leaving bt she tried not to b mad at them n made them promise theyd b safe n back as soon as possible. she even asked if they cld somehow take her w them n they were jst like :/ it doesn’t work that way luv x
ANYWAY whew tht rly.... took a dark turn there..... chuckles nervously at hw sad lana’s life is bt it’s fine it’s all fINE!!!!!!! ok. so on a mre lighthearted note the jameson family r pretty well off n bc of her relation to such a big music industry figure she’s hung out w a fair few relatively high rep ppl thru her teens. mostly kids of celebrities n stuff like tht. she amassed kind of an instagram following mainly fr her style (v penny lane-esque in some aspects aka lots of fur cuff trimmed jackets bt then also jst…. a wild combination of everything honestly. pastel faux fur coats, seventies style platforms, flame red cowboy boots, pink fishnet tights n glitter used like highlight Everywhere) n bc she’s undeniably very pretty
(trauma tw) after caleb got back he was rly withdrawn n depressed. he shut lana out n was kind of harsh to her a lot of the time, always telling her to leave him alone or pushing her away. it didnt help either tht lana had a rly traumatic experience w some of her dad’s colleagues at the label when she ws 16 n he was away n she cldnt even tell him abt it once he was bk bc of his own traumas. she kind of jst shut it all in n kept it to herself
this obviously?? made her spiral a lot. she was already a girl tht loved sex (she’d only rly done foreplay before tho) but since her trauma it got…. completely out of hand. it got to a point where she couldnt rly go 2 days without it, probably not even 1. her lowest point has probably been scrolling thru craiglist for anonymous encounters n meeting up w strangers on there fr a quick fuck jst for the thrill even tho it’s insanely dangerous n she cld wind up getting herself killed. it’s v clear at this point tht she has a sex addiction whether she’s ever admitted it or not. it kind of... almost mingled w tht same feeling she used to get when she ws younger of being a ghost?? like she jst. only rly feels Real when she’s being touched
(violence tw) a mre recent point of history is her involvement w danny nielsen (an evil npc of mine who is possibly the antichrist??? pending investigation). he attended lockwood n lived in a house w a group of other guys. it wsn’t a registered frat bt he essentially...ran it like one it ws kind of a weird set-up where he ws the King Of The Roost. essentially he found out tht lana n zeke van doren (full name it’s official business Babey) slept together n he ended up beating him to near death in front of her bc his pride ws rly bruised since they were meant to be dating (if u can call it tht bc danny’s idea of dating is very Warped). danny gt arrested n the trial is approaching n it’s jst....a whole intense mess...... n he’s quite evil. she hs a restraining order against him while he’s out on bail b4 the trial n he got suspended frm lockwood n it ws jst. a whole dramatic thing....tht ws prob heard abt around campus
PERSONALITY:
growing up lana was always a huge social butterfly. knew everyone n everyone knew her. she ws one of those girls tht ws kind of impossible to ignore or forget. very animated, always made u feel like u were the centre of the universe whenever she spoke to u, always made it feel like u were best friends even if ud only spoken to her once. she has this magnetic way abt her tht is kind of hard to find in real life. it’s something ud only rly expect out of a movie character n she like. deliberately puts tht on sort of. kind of…. is always playing A Role of the person tht she wants to b seen as. chameleons to situations. feels like she’s performed as the vivacious n fun loving Lana Jameson fr so long tht she doesn’t rly kno who she is beneath tht bt she isn’t too keen to find out
she’s always been rly spontaneous n adventurous. always doing something weird n wild every weekend. she has ten thousand stories tht always earn a laugh or a gasp over how ridiculously absurd they r
uncontrollably flirty. boundlessly confident. cld make a joke out a paper bag n her comedy is sometimes surreal / absurd. she tends to laugh when she feels like crying n has a smile brighter than a ray of texas sunshine. always dapples her fingers thru the breeze when she’s driving in a car w the window down. she almost always has some sort of sweet on her, whether it’s sour haribo cherries or strawberry lollipops. she adores david bowie n prince n madonna n anyone tht’s a vintage style icon w little care fr what ppl think. daisies n poppies r her fav flowers bc daisies r wild n overlooked n poppies r the first thing u look at in a green field. she’s had like 8472493874 ‘relationships’ n none of them hav lasted beyond a month / hav been terrible / hav seen her being treated badly / she’s cheated on them. i dnt think she’s actually been w anyone she hasn’t cheated on in some form or another
PLOTS
exes tht lana’s fucked over hideously. she’d probably cheat a lot and it’d be a whole…mess. mayb someone tht flipped the switch and cheated on her? a cousin plot cld b fun too. a friend tht lana fel out w bc she slept w their significant other. someone tht’s getting lana into drugs?? she’s kind of impressionable/down for anything so tht’s a likely scenario she’d get into tbh. an unrequited crush!!
#wshintro#trauma tw#hypersexuality tw#ptsd tw#death tw#grief tw#hospitalisation tw#drugs tw#dissociation tw#lets jst pretend i didnt post this w the wrong. intro tag a second ago bt#this truly is a bit long............ feel free to#jst skim.....to her personality bc there's a lot#bt anyway yeets this bk out
