[ad_1] Kanpur: The Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur has terminated the PhD programme of the then Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mohd Mohsin Khan, who allegedly raped a 26-year-old IIT-K research scholar, an official said on Saturday.The action to cancel the PhD programme of Mohsin Khan, a 2013 batch PPS officer, has been taken after a recommendation from DGP headquarters.Mohsin Khan was pursuing his PhD in cybercrime and criminology from IIT-K.Director of IIT Kanpur Manindra Agarwal said that they have received a letter from the police department stating that the NOC (No Objection Certificate) issued for Khan to pursue the PhD programme has been cancelled."Soon after getting the letter, the institute also terminated the PhD programme of Mohd Mohsin Khan, the then ACP Kanpur. The written communication has been made regarding termination," Agarwal told PTI.The IIT-K student lodged an FIR against Khan on December 24 on charges of criminal intimidation and defaming her.IIT-Kanpur's PhD student had stated in her FIR that Khan threatened her with serious life consequences and made objectionable posts with the intent to defame her by levelling fake charges.The ACP and his lawyer allegedly made a tweet and shared objectionable posts on social media platforms with the intent to defame her, the Assistant CP (Kalyanpur) Abhishek Pandey said.After receiving threats from Khan, the student told the police that she had confined herself to her hostel as she was scared of the consequences. She also told the police that Khan befriended her by falsely claiming to be unmarried and established a relationship with her. He later pressured her for physical intimacy under the pretext of marriage, Pandey said.She further told the police that every time she would bring up marriage, Khan would harass her. Unable to endure the distress, she approached the IIT-K's administration, including the director and professors, who assured her support.Based on her complaint, a five-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by Additional DCP (Traffic) Archana Singh has been constituted to probe the matter, police said."The SIT has been directed to conduct a detailed investigation and ensure the case is disposed of based on facts and evidence," Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankita Sharma had earlier said.Meanwhile, the SIT has given 48 hours to Mohsin Khan to record his statements in the case, an official associated with the SIT requesting anonymity said. A Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Superintendent of Police (SP) Osemwegie Lilian, at the South Ibie Police Station, Auchi, has been accused of shielding a police officer, Sergeant Abraham Ozuobor, who allegedly assaulted a 17-year-old girl in Edo State. Reports indicate that Sergeant Ozuobor, working closely with the DPO, had significant influence over her operations. It is alleged that SP Lilian attempted to protect him due to her impending retirement this month. Inspector Edith Uduma, in a statement to SaharaReporters on Wednesday, detailed how she found Sergeant Ozuobor in a compromising position with the teenager, who had been detained for allegedly stealing a mobile phone. She instructed the cell guard, Constable Moses Ogedengbe, to comply with his request. However, both officers failed to return the key promptly, which raised concerns. "I inquired from Constable Moses about the key’s whereabouts, and he stated that it was still with Sergeant Ozuobor, who was supposedly taking a statement from a suspect," Inspector Edith reported. "After a prolonged wait of over 30 minutes, I began searching for him." Inspector Edith noted that she checked various offices and found the admin office unlocked, despite it usually being secured. Upon entering, she discovered Sergeant Ozuobor partially undressed and the young detainee lying unconscious on a chair. The inspector recorded a video of the scene as evidence. She tried reaching out to the DPO but was unable to connect. Instead, she contacted the Station Officer (SO), Adamu Ishaku, who arrived at the station later that night. Inspector Edith stated that the SO instructed her to return the girl to her cell and promised to inform the DPO the following morning. Inspector Edith alleged that when the DPO, SP Lilian, was informed of the situation, she reacted angrily and confronted her. According to Edith, the DPO attempted to dissuade her from reporting the incident, warning her that it could jeopardize both Sergeant Ozuobor’s career and her own. "The DPO asked me what I hoped to gain by reporting Abraham. She told me not to proceed with the complaint, but I refused," Edith recounted. "She then threatened that if Abraham were dismissed, she would ensure I faced repercussions as well." Inspector Edith further claimed that the DPO ordered the immediate release of the teenage girl, seemingly to avoid further complications with the victim’s family. The matter was escalated to the Area Commander, who summoned everyone involved, including the DPO, to his office. After reviewing their statements, the Area Commander directed the detention of Sergeant Ozuobor and ordered that all officers, including the DPO, submit written statements. Inspector Edith shared that during the meeting, SP Lilian reportedly pleaded with the Area Commander to drop the case, expressing concern about her upcoming retirement. The case eventually caught the attention of higher authorities, and the Commissioner of Police (CP) was notified. Following further investigation by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), SP Lilian was criticized for failing to detain Sergeant Ozuobor immediately after the incident. Inspector Edith expressed shock at her DPO’s actions, stating that instead of condemning the misconduct, the DPO seemed intent on covering it up. She claimed that the DPO accused her of attempting to extort money from Sergeant Ozuobor, which she vehemently denied. The Edo State Police Command, following an internal investigation, confirmed disciplinary actions against the officers involved. Inspector Edith Uduma and Sergeant Abraham Ozuobor were both dismissed for misconduct. Additionally, Inspector Ibrahim Mohammed, Edith’s husband, was demoted for his alleged involvement in attempts to conceal the incident.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Moses Yamu, issued a statement detailing the disciplinary measures taken, emphasizing the importance of maintaining professional standards within the force. According to the statement, "The officers involved breached the Nigeria Police Force’s Standard Operating Procedures. We left the horrible occupation for freedom for which we were ill-prepared.
The birth of India and Pakistan was built on the bodies of immigrants.

It was supposed to be a Muslim household and a democratic one. Democracy in Pakistan never flourished and the institution of the army always had an upper hand in all things
In the beautiful fields of Punjab, the Deseret of Sind was never allowed to belong to the workers.
Landowners controlled the masses and hence wealth did not move much to the workers.
Pakistan means Pure Land but it’s politics is filthy. It was a dreamland for the immigrants but in 1960 it suffered the Bengal massacre which lead to the division of the country. An independent election won by Bengalis was not accepted and led to the birth of yet another country under another Sky!!!
The land of pure is often finding it hard to control its 4 provinces. Lovely people of Punjab are made to fight Sindhis and etc.
Economical it has also not prospered due to lack of education, misunderstanding of the Teachings of Islam, early marriages, etc.
So, in the end, we are worse off than what we were once and worse led by foreigners. We must continue the search for a United India and strengthen the hands of the ordinary people.
We can be the biggest economic market if we still believe in

Hardship: Soldiers arrest journalist at protest site in Delta
Soldiers from the Nigerian Army 3 Battalion in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, in the early hours Friday arrested the South-South Bureau Chief of Galaxy Television, Mr Dele Fasan, for taking video clips at the scene of a planned protest against the economic hardship in the country. He was arrested in the presence of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, DC Operations, Aina Adesola. He was however released after Adesola and other journalists from Independent Television & Radio, Mr Gbenga Ahmed and DAILY POST’s Mr Matthew Omonigho, appealed to the Army Commander, Major AE Ohegbe, who ordered his release. Also at the scene, the soldiers whisked a human right activist, Comrade Israel Joe, away to the barracks for reasons not clear at press time after a rift between him and other human right activists, including Kelvin Ejumudo. Fasan told this medium that he was trying to get video clips of the protest when the soldiers accosted him despite identifying himself by showing his identity card. “The military were not civil at all during the protest. But the Police led by DCP Aina Adesola, the Navy, the DSS and NSCDC operatives were civil as they all intervened and I was released,” he said. He said Ahegbe later apologized to him. National Secretary of Human Right Protection Congress, Ejumudo said the civil society organisations came out to ensure that the protest did not hold following the threat across the nation. “We don’t want any protest at all because when it happens, people will loose their properties. People will loose their monies,” he said. “I will not condone any idea of protest in this state because at the moment, Nigeria is volatile.” He urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, all the 36 state governors and local government chairmen to as a matter of urgency tackle the hunger in the land. The Chairman Board of Trustees of Citizens Rights Enhancement Initiative, Comrade Edewor Egedegbe, in a chat with newsmen commended the security operatives in their approach at managing the situation in the country. While noting that there’s hunger in the land, Egedegbe, a cleric said, “you cannot cure hunger with further inflicting harm on innocent citizens.” “What the police, the military have done to ensure that there’s no breakdown of law and order is very much in order. “For some of us, we have said the time is not ripe for any protest that can snowball not a major crisis. “There’s a crisis of hunger already and the government are doing their best. Although, we believe that their best is not good enough. We are asking them to do more because there’s truly hunger in the land.” Adesola said he was sent to the scene by the Commissioner of Police to maintain peace. While noting that everywhere is peaceful, he said citizens are going about their normal businesses without any hindrances. “There’s no problem. Residents should come out en masse and to their different place of work. Nobody will molest them. “The civil societies, they’ve rallied round the police and the Army.
