Earlier this year, I delved into the world of cyanotype prints for the first time, and these are the fruits of my labour. I'd wanted to try out the cyanotype medium for a while, and to make some artwork inspired by the ocean. I found this to be the perfect medium for capturing the ethereal nature of jellyfish, and representing the deep blue of the ocean.

Creating cyanotypes involves working with elements of nature - the light of the sun to expose the prints, and water to wash them, which also felt appropriate here.

Both of these original prints are available for sale in my shop here! I don't usually sell originals of my work and don't currently have plans to make more of these prints, at least not for some time, so it's a rare opportunity to get something unique.

I made more cyanotypes, me and my friend have been playing around with a black light and different exposure times. I am not super happy about how it turned out but still think it's neat. All the photographery is mine except for of course for Tim Allen's mugshot.

My goal for 2023 was to finish one "substantial" art piece for every month of the year. Of all the years I've made this resolution, this is the closest I've gotten, with a total of 8 things, plus the cyanotypes. 2023 was also the year I got back into fiber arts, and I didn't complete the goal because I started working on a massive crochet project in July that has taken up most of my free time and will probably take another year to complete so. Stay tuned I guess.

The loaches were made as thank-you cards for an aquarium launch party we held in February. Boyfriend got kuhli loaches and wanted to make an event for them.
