Both Robin and Michel Haillard had their creations exhibited at the "15" concept shop I write about that was the most amazing store I ever visited. Haillard reclaims and retrims old furniture in horns and exotic skins. Here, a zebra skin stool:

Stuff I write about, for sale (by others) on the internets

So I wrote a book. It’s a labor of love, and the most diligent and impartial writing about its subjects that I know of. For well over a decade I’ve shared interesting finds and deals on cool stuff with friends. Here’s a few things that relate to stuff in my book:

Shagreen games compendium, Jacques Robin for Dunhill

Robin was a master shagreen craftsman who created special shagreen jewelry boxes and cufflinks for the short-lived “15″ concept shop in Paris. He also created this ludicrously overpriced games box for Dunhill, currently for sale at https://www.ebay.com/itm/224656180358

Seraphin for Sulka baby-camel-hair-lined leather jacket

I dedicate a chapter to the rise and fall of Sulka, a unique American brand that stood apart in its extravagant luxury. By the 1990s, however, most of its stuff had been homogenized under new management to a boring neutrality. This standout piece is an exception, detachable baby camel hair liner and soft deerskin made in Paris by Seraphin, a leading leather jacket maker owned by (and supplying) Hermes. Dressing table. Swaine Adeney box, Cuirs d’océan one-off shagreen cufflinks box with inlaid shark and stingray detailing, 1920s dunhill London burlwood and marquetry box, Abbeyhorn horn-handled magnifying glass, thuyawood eggs from essaouira, Charvet satin ribbon knot cufflinks, old Sulka Paris tie, and pre-reformulation Hermès bel ami perfume.
