The Watcher

It was dark. Not the kind of dark where the fear sets in that there might be something in the background. This was a lonely dark. I was the only entity around for light years. The stars around me shone, like twinkle lights, or the sun coming up after a fresh snow. There were millions of them, scattered haphazardly, as if someone had taken a handful of sugar and tossed it out onto a pitch black canvas. The most fascinating thing around, however, were the planets. They looked almost like gemstones, the light from the sun piercing through them, illuminated, casting brightly coloured lights that danced off my skin. At first, I marveled at the beauty of it all, figured I could sit here for all of eternity and not get bored. The sights never become less beautiful, just normal, mundane. I don’t know how I got here. Just that I must sit here; the watcher of the Milky Way.

It’s been enjoyable, watching the universe expand, the little humans, only here a short while, grow and develop. They’ve become infatuated with space. A place just outside their reach. Only a select few have ever come to visit me. I too once felt that same sense of amazement. The twinkling stars, the cascading light, the most indescribable colours. But, as time passed, the colours became muted, the opalescent planets clouded, the sun less astonishing, more a blindingly harsh light. Every single moment of mine, stretched out into a thousand. The sands in my hourglass flutter down like feathers, when I wish them to be stones. Every time I looked down at their little world, I could, if only for a second, imagine what it was like to be human. Their short lives, so insignificant, yet they extract joy from even the most meaningless of encounters. Tiny things, dancing, singing, drinking fermented fruit, and falling in love beneath the stars. The one thing we have in common. The stars. I’m not contemptuous, or bitter, I simply long for their ignorance. The chance to have my soul so fatally intertwined with another that I would rather cease to exist than go on living without. The thing that makes life so precious is the fact that it's limited. An hourglass turned at birth.

I lifted the sun, turning it between my palms, a smooth burning sensation. The thought had passed my mind before, I, never desperate enough to enact it. What use would a watcher be with nothing to watch? Praying that whatever being put me here was merciful, I closed my fist around the star in my hand and clasped as hard as I could. After a moment, a crack shot through the side of the sun, like a fire opal someone had dropped. Slowly, the crack grew longer, the star splitting and breaking between my fingers. The pain was excruciating, it felt as though I had taken shards of a thick glass and clenched them in my hands, even still, I continued. The pain was almost pleasant. After being alone for so long, any sensation, aside from the constant dullness of my surroundings, was welcome.

It was dark. The lonely kind of dark. The kind of dark where you held your breath lest something hear you. The feathers in my hourglass, not hastened by my desire to stop being, danced gently, each enjoying its fall to the ground. I released the breath I had been holding at the realization that it would be me, and me alone, for the rest of eternity; I shut my eyes in anguish and embraced the cold.

Second posible Narrative Concept

“Images” the Jacumeus photo book has inspired me for another possible narrative concept. His photo book Is an insight into his creative process when designing. I love fashion and even took an online class with Simon Porte in the past. I really like the aesthetic of these images and I enjoy the ‘undone’ feel we get from being able to view the incomplete projects that are being worked on. I would like to make a similar book. Using images that have inspired me, creative ideas I'm currently working on, etc. I believe I'll spend this week taking photos before deciding on what narrative works best for me.

GMW  FUTURE CAREER ANALYSIS of Core 4

Here is my analysis on this and why I will continue to love this show:

Analysis of the guy's path

Mj is fantastic and knows how to develop characters so well. From the start, we have watched these characters grow and change so much that seeing and hoping that this is how they are going to end up makes me smile. 

Lucas

The moral compass who wanted to be part of something as amazing as giving birth to a beautiful (blonde beauty) Palomino just so he can be part of something heroic. This makes him want to be a vet at a young age when in reality he’s not meant to be.

Reasons why:

 First, there was the repetition of how he doesn’t understand animals properly

Like ep 1 with the pony rat, and Ginger (but that was Riley)

Plus I feel like he doesn’t even understand the stresses of becoming a vet or perhaps will be too bored as well as he begins the study.

But with Lucas all we’ve seen him do and there I say love is the fight for moral rights, I thought he was actually going to become a lawyer. But that still does not come full circle with his character arc.

Because we’re still waiting for him to embrace who he really is, what he’s running away from which is The bad side of Texas Lucas and his anger management issues and is not perfect. 

The good thing:

Well, one being a police officer embraces who he is.

He has the perfect profile for Mr. Friar who is obsessed with westerns (his fave movie is about outlaws who go on the run and meet their end and that’s Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid) and those movies are about guns and fighting and violence.

He hates bullies, and would fight to protect anyone who he feels is in “danger” GM Flaws, Riley town, Highschool

He hates anything morally seen as wrong and goes crazy when it comes to calling them out, How ironic is it that the girl he falls in love with is always linked to all these scandals. Like cheating or graffiti, or stealing.

He believes in fighting for the people who are not ok.

He’s assertive, resilient, responsible and I think with both influence from Riley and Maya he can be calm(maybe also after embracing who he is) in dangerous situations and good at negotiating

His look in GM Hollywood with the police officer had a look of admiration

The way this completely rounds up his character growth because I actually almost choked up thinking about everything mapped for his character in GM 1961. His great-grandfather ended up isolating himself and ended up on the wrong side and went to jail, and he ends up changing that story by becoming a police officer, that’s full circle

And a job that includes running, moving, saving people and stopping evil definitely is a perfect career for Lucas Friar. 

Farkle

My Farkle who not only used to ruin the “play”, or wasn’t part of the “story” is now going to end up fulfilling His Pippin role and takes over the play by directing it. Also, this goes back to Wizard of oz theory about baby being the wizard. 

Farkle’s arc is that he’s meant to also be taking the picture of the story (GM 1961) but he’s been told he’s meant to study science and become a great leader. And that sounds amazing as well, but as he grows we start to see Farkle change as well, especially since his focus is that not only science dictates everything but feelings matter as well, (Science vs Feelings) 

So how crazy is it that the Farkle who was once seen as devoid of emotion/feelings is now creative and good at directing stories. 

Also, I think this makes Smackle giving him a theremin extra special as well,  

Likewise in GM Flaws his fears about being nothing, when in the future he will be known just like Sarah’s Father is amazing and knowing Farkle he’d be better and authentic. 

I am emotional thinking about this, When you think these two, the jobs fit them perfectly, it includes using their flaws in a way that comes out with good result, for Farkle creativity comes out from his love of science and technology, but also For Lucas protection and justice comes out of his Texan background and his anger/fighting  that he’s trying to hide and shelter can be put to good use. 

Romantic Thoughts

Lucaya: I just think how amazing is it that Lucas becomes a police officer, he gets to help people like Maya who were broken, and that’s so damn romantic. If they end up together, she will watch him do things that will make her emotional because knowing him, he will strive to save a lot of people just because it's him and he happens to love someone who used to be like the people he will eventually protect. In a way “I want Maya to be happy” ends up staying until the end don’t ya think?

Riarkle: I also thought about how interesting this was for them, then I rewatched GM Newyork, and I just thought it was adorable. In a way when Farkle is mentioning all about his heritage, and he talks about Christain rescuers (social workers) had come to the aid of his family back then, I started to sob because likewise Riley being a social worker also is sweet and cute. Also, Riley’s love for creativity and imagination makes me feel warm that she ends up with a movie director. Imagine everything she would see from that p.o.v with Farkle by her side. I love it so much and think they are perfect for each other. And imagine him making a movie about Pluto or directing it. Sigh... 

MJ’s characters, stories still end up making me think about characters who found each other and were meant for each other.Again the show makes me dream about that idea of loving your self, finding your self, and meeting the one for you. 

Will I ever get another show like this?

Analysis of Newcastle & Gatesheads Creative Organisations

Across Newcastle and Gateshead there are many creative facilities and organisations, including mediums of art, design, theatre, and music. Some of these institutions include the likes of the Baltic, Sage, The Biscuit Factory, The Holy Biscuit, Baltic 39, Newcastle Arts Centre and the NewBridge Project. The majority of small scale cr eativity and small se t-ups are located in the area concerned with the East Pilgrim Street Development. As shown in the diagram – if all the organisations were in contact with one another and were part of a larger network system across Newcastle and Gateshead, the node – where the centre of this networking took place would be the surrounding area of the located site on Pilgrim Street.

Its is time for a reality check for British prime minister Theresa May. An exit from the EU without a deal would irrevocably harm the future of the British fashion industry. Sadly, growing anti-immigration sentiment threatens the very core of what makes London a global fashion capital. London is not a fashion capital because we have the biggest businesses. It is not a fashion capital because we have the best manufacturing. London is a fashion capital because we have the best talent from all over the world. This is a point Ms May doesn't seem to grasp, and when she took to the podium at a reception with the British Fashion Council she once again spoke in infuriatingly vague platitudes which trot out information that we in the industry already know. The only way we as an industry can thrive is if Ms May ensures we will have access to the talent we need to keep London a thriving global centre of creativity, technology and business. The only reasons companies like Net-a-Porter, Farfetch — and, yes, even The Business of Fashion — were founded in London and continue to grow is because Britain was an open and progressive country that welcomed talent from abroad. Net-a-Porter was founded by an American. Farfetch was founded by a Portuguese. And BoF was founded by a Canadian. Burberry has just employed two Italians — one of whom came here as a student in the late 1990s and loved its open multi-cultural environment — to be its chief executive and chief creative officer at a time when the biggest British luxury brand is trying to redefine itself. And all of these companies employ legions of people from around the world. What we need to hear loud and clear from Ms May is her strategy on immigration post-Brexit — including visas for creative talent. We are tired of the platitudes and vague quips. Today, we still don't know where we are going to end up post-Brexit. I worry for the future of London as a city. I worry for the future of Britain's fashion industry. And I worry about the fact that talented young entrepreneurs with creative potential will decide not to come here in the coming years. What will that do to the multi-cultural fabric that gives London its advantage?

from the editor | creative director: the “trust your ideas” series is a collaboration exploring our creative vision without limits – and no structural rules.   What started as an editorial became a live interactive editorial.   we ALL:  models, creators, designers,  transformed on spot from one mood and story, to another.  We removed the ‘brands’ from the equation, and streetstyled on spot- deconstructed, borrowed, and layered one of a kinds.    The typically competitive cool kids gave a nod to one another, swapped, styled and just werrrrrked the beautiful mood.    Here are designers, photographers, artists, rappers,  DJs, stylists and all around creators with uninterrupted style.  The vibe? amazing and real, with alot of love, and the images captured say it all.  I’m mentoring at least one from this crowd – brigitte segura.

      from the photographer | art director:  I am very exited how everything went and how I was able to photograph the stories in a minimalistic manner, condensing the message into beautiful imagery.  In times like ours marked by cultural disruption (which leads to individual innovation), these kids spear-head the raw style evolution.It was amazing how everyone cooperated, helped each other out – there was a unique vibe of romantic freedom in the air.
