in my head there's a very funny misunderstanding in tlj wherein Amilyn is like "oh, he's Leia's boy he can handle it" when she's being especially harsh on him because Leia absolutely would've dished that shit right back in the days of the Rebellion, and D'Acy is the only motherfucker in command that can tell his ass is 0.5 seconds away from a meltdown and is trying hard to subtly do damage control. Unsuccessfully.
#broke: poe wasn't named command bc he was demoted (okay not actually broke but I can't remember any variation of the meme)#woke: poe wasn't named command bc we needed to see first-hand that the best hands the resistance can be in besides Leia's is his#bespoke: ematt and d'acy went 'his mom is in the hospital we cANNOT do that to him'#nym speaks#I'm out of posts you're getting my ridiculous resistance nonsense now

Gay Glup Shitto of the Day #21
Larma D'Acy and Worbie Tyce
Lesbian resistance operatives.
You know these two.
Larma D'Acy, a military officer, and Worbie Tyce, a courier pilot, were wives from the independent planet Warlentta. D'Acy was personally recruited by Leia, and her wife happily joined with her. D'Acy became a trusted mid level officer in the resistance, and Tyce became second in command of a fighter squadron.
There is not much I can say about them because D'Acy is only in The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker, and Tyce is only in the latter. Though they were the first on screen lesbian kiss in a Star Wars movie. They also kissed before the battle of Exegol in the junior novel adaptation.
Overall, they are a poor attempt at capitalizing on queer representation and claiming support. Though they are a step along the way as Disney trails behind the leaders. Disney's willingness to include queer representation has increased due, in part, to the reaction and memeing of their kiss. This was emphasized by how much of a fiasco Rise of Skywalker was.
Most annoying is how divorced on screen and on page representation has become from each other. D'Acy and Tyce were not the first queer kiss in Star Wars, having been beaten to it almost two years prior in a comic. There have been more and more queer creators being given control of Star Wars, but still much more on page than screen.
Before Disney I could count queer representation on both hands. By the time Episode IX released it was about 30, and now there is a wide range of about 300 queer characters.
The executive confidence in Star Wars has been regrowing, and we can't let them stop queer representation or become complacent, but we also can't let the shows trail behind in representation. So keep making your approval and dissatisfaction with how they handle queer representation known.

Queer Star Wars Characters (Round 1): LIVE SLUG REACTION SHOWDOWN
Wrobie Tyce/Larma D'Acy | Identity: wlw couple | Media: The Rise of Skywalker
It is them, the infamous blink-and-you-miss-it kiss from the end of The Rise of Skywalker. But because it is Star Wars, they do have a bit of character of their own, although they haven’t appeared in other stories. Wrobe Tyce is a courier turned A-wing pilot for the Resistance. She has been a member of the Resistance since before the events of The Force Awakens, just being away on another mission during the events of TFA and TLJ. Her wife, Larma D’Acy was a commander of the defense forces of their shared homeplanet of Warlentta. She was recruited personally by Leia Organa and served as a bridge officer on the Raddus.
Gulu/Gido | Identity: mlm couple | Media: Jedi Survivor
What if the live slug reaction guy was gay? Gido is an elderly member of the same species as Klaud in a relationship with the human male Gulu. The two of grumpy old men are residents of Koboh’s Rambler’s Reach Outpost. They spent their time snarking about the people they see pass them…which you might call “reacting”.
(This matchup was generated randomly, you got to believe me)

The second instalment of the third Star Wars trilogy devided fans with some thinking it was the best of the new trilogy and others completely hating it. It was the only outing written and directed by Rian Johnson. It continued the Saga of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson), Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie), C-3PO (Anthony Daniels), R2-D2 (Jimmy Vee), Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo), Yoda (Frank Oz), Snoke (Andy Serkis), Maz Kanata (Lupita Nyong'o), Lt Connix (Billie Lourd), Admiral Ackbar (Tim Rose and Tom Kane), and BB8. The movie introduced to the franchise Rose Tico (Kelly Marie Tran), Vice Admiral Holdo (Laura Dern), DJ (Benicio Del Toro), Commander D'Acy (Amanda Lawrence), porgs, fathiers, vulptex, and thala-sirens. While most of the action took place aboard First Order and Rebel Alliance ships, there were also events that took place at Canto Bite (on Cantonica), Crait, Ahch-To, and D'Qar. In this episode Kylo Ren murdered Emperor Snoke and took charge of the First Order. Luke Skywalker revealed why he went into self induced exile and reluctantly agreed to train Rey. Finn and Rose went on an unauthorized mission to try to save the Rebel fleet. Meanwhile, Poe butted heads with both Princess Leia and Vice Admiral Holdo. The movie ended with Luke Skywalker sacraficing himself to save Leia and what was left of the Rebellion. ("The Last Jedi" Star Wars Film Event)

Oh right I forgot it's Star Wars so literally every background character has a name. Sorry to Commander Larma D'Acy and Pilot Wrobie Tyce, I wish you'd been given more space in the story beyond having your kiss evaluated by Klaud the giant slug alien.

resistance personnel headcanons
oh you thought I was kidding? no absolutely not, I never kid about my kids. I've been obsessed with the Resistance since 2015 but especially since the tail end of 2020, and I've amassed a lot of hcs about the Resistance kiddos since then, so here's a handful of them (below the cut because bestie even succinct, this is gonna be lengthy)
tallie and paige are girlfriends
cova nell is kalonia's niece and joined the resistance to follow in her aunt's footsteps, albeit in a different capacity, and is inseparable from her best friend tabala zo.
iolo isn't around or in black squadron because he's assigned with a small squadron to the anodyne to protect their medical frigate
yolo and bastian are casually together
snap and kare were love at first sight basically and Poe used his commander status to meddle a little to set them up which definitely isn't an abuse of his powers, no sir.
beaumont has actually been with the resistance prior to the battle of crait; he's estranged/cut ties with his family entirely, and finds a surrogate father in statura. beaumont is also trans <33
kaydel is known to get hyperfocused on her work and tends to forget to eat, so black squadron starts something they call "the kaydel protocol" where one of them checks on her when they have a chance, and make sure she's ate something.
(she is their unofficial little sister and they will kill for her)
for all his bravado and good looks keep scoring them new recruits, Poe has a reputation around base for being an unofficial big brother to most of their members, same as Snap.
Snap and Tallie have a silly little routine where they fight over the last cup of caf every morning in the mess (if Snap wins, he splits it with Tallie, but Tallie is not so merciful)
movie nights ARE common, because one of the pilots pirates holovids from the holonet and everyone gathers around to watch a movie - there's a rotation of who gets to choose the movie. everytime jess is in charge, she picks a horror flick (much to poe's chagrin)
poe hates the medbay (bad memory association) but he regularly sneaks in to anonymously leave Harter some flowers. He thinks he's being real sly about it, but in actuality Kalonia knows they're from him and thinks it's sweet and just plays along with it.
they definitely have at least two designated unofficial places for romantic entanglements that couples sneak away to
high command could not give two shits about who is fucking whom so long as jobs get done, seeing as the rebellion was far, far worse and most of them come from the rebellion.
the astromech pool secretly hate working on black one, because it's a pain in the ass to repair, but no one has the heart to tell poe (even if they weren't afraid of being tased by BB-8 for blabbing)
everyone's just a little bit in love with each other, it just varies if it's in a friendship way, a romantic way, or a sexual way.
ackbar sometimes slips up and calls poe "lieutenant" when he reminds him of Shara
dejarik matches between ackbar and leia are common
statura loves hot cocoa and always has a stash on hand and shares it frequently with his friends.
(he and leia are besties)
beaumont and poe are buddies and have done research together on the old jedi, and were shocked to uncover decades old erotic romance novels about them (<- things that do exist in canon, can you believe?)
suralinda and poe were a couple back in the flight academy, but it was short-lived, but they're amicable exes that remained besties
d'acy often commiserates with the younger officers when their significant others are away, and offers them some comfort from her own experiences of missing wrobie when she's away on missions.

I'm genuinely flabbergasted like....why would you even come up with such a bad faith interpretation of that scene? What would Poe have to gain from lying to Amilyn about his rank, particularly since that lie would be so easily proven false? Kaydel, Threepio, Finn, D'Acy (most notably) all survived the explosion and have knowledge that Poe was demoted, most likely. There is no outcome where Poe lying about his rank wouldn't result in it being easily disproven?
And like. This is not the face of a man who knows he's been caught in a lie, this is a face of a man who is deeply confused about what the Fuck his superior officer is talking about (you should be familiar with it, he makes it frequently around Holdo, once again proving we're soulmates because it's also the face I make when she speaks but I digress) and then promptly remembers "oh shit, yeah i did get into it with mom earlier that did happen"
it takes 44 frames for what Amilyn is saying to properly sink in for Poe and for him to stop buffering and realize what she's referencing. That's not "oh fuck she knows what I'm hiding" that's a very delayed reaction to what happened earlier because in between the last harrowing hour of so of being attacked/losing an entire hangar of his pilots and nearly dying/watching the rest of command die/having to help bring in and wheel his surrogate mother to medbay because she's barely clinging to life - he'd forgotten about their argument and his subsequent demotion.
This isn't the first interpretation of Poe in tlj that has me convinced I watched a fundamentally different film to a large portion of the audience (luckily, I watched the director's cut and understood what they were putting down), and it's definitely given me more insight onto why the backlash against him was so bad, and honestly? it's just kind of depressing to see how many people will jump to the worst possible conclusions about one of the protagonists/main heroes of the trilogy, like...why do you assume the worst of people?
but I've got to say, I would like to invite people to sit and wonder why their first instinct is to assume that the man of color is lying to make himself sound better to the white woman. because uhmmmm....
sometimes I see posts from six years ago about tlj and I realize I truly did watch a fundamentally different film than most people. Saw a post criticizing Holdo - well, trying to make sense of her plan and asking for fellow thoughts on it - and one of the first comments is of course bashing Poe instead, but one of their first points utterly threw me for a loop because it's like "because he lied to her upon meeting her and claimed he was a higher rank than he was"
I think I actually 404'ed for a minute guys. I really think I did. Because "he lied" was in no way how I interpreted that scene at all, nor do I think it was how we were supposed to interpret it in that way? Certainly Amilyn may have, but. It actually mind boggles me when I accidentally stumble across points that aren't just "he's sexist" because I'm like...on what planet are you from that....you think that's a genuine action someone might take.
#nym speaks#the 'he's a misogynist' is the most blatantly bs one but man i've seen#SO many takes over the years that i'm just like. girl (gn). what movie did you watch.#he's! confused! it got forgotten about in the chaos of them almost dying! of leia almost dying!!

General Hugs and Commander D’Acy
I was so very lucky to meet Amanda Lawrence last weekend at Comic Con Paris!!! She was super kind and friendly <3 <3 <3 She recognized my Hux instantly and we had a blast! She also told me a bit about what it was like shooting SW, with Laura Dern in particular (since I told her I was working on a Holdo costume), and I was over the moon *w*
Thank you so so much for this precious moment Amanda!

Not to be dramatic, but I would die for Commander D’Acy
#uncaptioned#commander d'acy#the last jedi#it feels like an odd thing to point out but#i love her nose. my nose was the one body image thing i struggled w/. took me a long time to love it. so i love seeing bold noses#especially on ladies and heroes#but i also love d'acy for her ability to continue on her duties even as she was grieving#she didn't try to clam up her emotions but she didn't let them hold her down either
