Do you think Invictus might be stuck for a while because there's a contract/legal doc to keep Harry as patron for X number of years? Weren't there rumors of similar contracts when MM was let go from one of her charities?
From the BRF’s website:
Some patronages are taken on in perpetuity, while others may have a fixed term. Sometimes members of the Royal Family take on a patronage relating to a specific campaign or event which only lasts a finite length of time.
I read somewhere once (don’t remember where, sorry) that the “fixed term” patronages are typically for 5-7 years.
My theory is that the charities and patronages had to renegotiate their deals with Meghan and Harry after they quit; most cut their losses with Meghan and didn’t renew with her, but a couple renegotiated with her on for another year or two. Invictus renegotiated to keep Harry and if they did a 5-7 year “term” in line with what the BRF do, then that expiration date is rapidly coming down the pike, sometime between 2025 - 2027 and the panic we’re seeing from the Sussexes (about the 10th anniversary service, whether Birmingham will get 2027, and recruiting Japan Nigeria) is panic over a possibility that Invictus could decline to renew and thus the Sussexes lose their only steady source of income, perks, and attention.
Again, that’s my theory. Its conjecture. I have no idea if it’s true or not. It’s what I *guess* may be happening based on some old stories I heard awhile ago.
But even if there’s a contract in place keeping Harry there - whether it’s an “in perpetuity” contract or a “fixed term” contract, there’s probably several clauses about termination over non-performance or morality issues that Invictus could use to terminate the partnership early. I don’t actually know - this is based on seeing how fast everyone dropped Andrew back in 2019, which suggests their contracts have morality/ethics clauses allowing early termination.
So Invictus has options to handle Harry. They just don’t like what those options are and are trying to pass the buck back to the BRF to clean up Harry’s mess because they did it 10 years ago.

Unveiling the Significance of Kidney Function Tests in Nigeria
In Nigeria, kidney disease is a significant health concern, affecting a considerable portion of the population. Kidney function tests play a pivotal role in diagnosing and managing kidney-related issues. These tests are crucial for identifying early signs of dysfunction, enabling timely intervention and treatment.
Tumblr media
Prevalence of Kidney Disease in Nigeria:
The prevalence of kidney disease in Nigeria is on the rise, largely due to factors such as hypertension, diabetes, and inadequate access to clean water and healthcare. According to recent health reports, a substantial number of Nigerians suffer from kidney-related problems, emphasizing the need for efficient diagnostic tools like kidney function tests.
Types of Kidney Function Tests:
Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN) Test:
Measures the amount of nitrogen in the blood from urea, a waste product formed in the liver.
Elevated BUN levels may indicate kidney dysfunction.
Serum Creatinine Test:
Assesses the level of creatinine in the blood, a waste product produced by muscles.
Elevated creatinine levels can signify impaired kidney function.
Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR) Test:
Measures the rate at which the kidneys filter blood.
A lower GFR may indicate reduced kidney function.
Urinalysis:
Analyzes a urine sample for abnormalities, such as protein, blood, or crystals.
Abnormalities may signal kidney issues.
The Importance of Kidney Function Tests:
Early Detection and Prevention:
Kidney function tests aid in early detection of abnormalities, allowing for prompt intervention.
Early intervention can prevent the progression of kidney disease and associated complications.
Monitoring Chronic Conditions:
Individuals with chronic conditions like diabetes or hypertension need regular kidney function tests to monitor their kidney health.
Timely adjustments to treatment plans can prevent further damage.
Customized Treatment Plans:
Results from kidney function tests help healthcare professionals design personalized treatment plans based on the severity and cause of kidney dysfunction.
Tailored interventions enhance the effectiveness of treatment.
Challenges and Opportunities:
Limited Access to Healthcare:
Rural areas in Nigeria often face challenges in accessing healthcare facilities, hindering timely kidney function testing.
Initiatives to improve healthcare infrastructure and awareness are essential.
Educational Campaigns:
Promoting awareness about kidney health and the significance of regular kidney function tests is vital.
Community-driven educational campaigns can empower individuals to take proactive steps in managing their kidney health.
Conclusion:
In Nigeria, kidney function tests serve as indispensable tools in the battle against kidney diseases. As the prevalence of these conditions continues to rise, it is imperative to prioritize awareness, accessibility, and education. By emphasizing the importance of regular kidney function tests, Nigeria can take significant strides towards preventing, managing, and mitigating the impact of kidney-related issues on public health.

By • Olalekan Fagbade Federel Civil Servants protest against Permanent Secretary, over allege high-handedness Staff of the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation on Tuesday led a protest against the Permanent Secretary, Dr Didi Walson-Jack for alleged high-handedness and non-release of project funds. The workers chanting, ‘the permanent secretary must leave our ministry, ‘we are tired of redundancy’, we are tired of hunger’ said in the last three years, nothing was working in the ministry. A staff, Harisu Bukar, alleged that Walson-Jack had deliberately left all files attended to, approving contracts for her allies alone, thereby limiting the implementation of programmes for water resources development. He noted that the workers made the decision to protest following poor work conditions and delayed activities and programmes to reposition the ministry. According to Bukar, “In my department of water quality control and sanitation, all files for training and workshops have deliberately failed to be approved, nothing is happening. “Monies are not released for projects to be completed, we are tired of same thing happening for three years now, people are angry and frustrated”. The staff urged the Head of Service to redeploy Walson-Jack from the ministry, and bring a new person with commitment to reposition the ministry in line with the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu. Another staff of the Water Supply Department, Chimezie Aduba, alleged that Walson-Jack’s decision to halt programme implementation had led to hunger in the ministry. “People are not being paid their entitlements, files are thrown out, junior officers are begging to eat, we want her to leave, that’s why we are protesting”. Another staff in the Clean Nigeria Campaign Secretariat, Mrs Yinka Salami, noted that the office was stifled and lacked the resources to function effectively. According to Salami, files were not approved by the permanent secretary, leading to a delay in implementing programmes to address poor sanitation and hygiene issues in the country. She said the campaign secretariat had suffered neglect, with many project staff members not being paid, thereby dampening their morale and slowing down the open defecation free Nigeria target by 2025. Responding, the Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Prof. Joseph Utsev, appealed for calm from the protesters. He said all grievances were noted and would be resolved sooner than expected, saying he would continue to place priority on improving staff welfare. “I want to appreciate every staff member and thank you for your patience, when I heard this, I quickly called the leader of the protest that I don’t want noise, you people should be calm and peaceful. “I will meet with your leaders now to decide the way forward”. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that at the last town hall meeting of the ministry’s staff with the new Ministers, chants of ‘the perm secretary must go’, rented the air. NAN reports that members of the amalgamated Unions were not part of today’s protest. As at the time of filing this report, the minister and his junior counterpart, Alhaji Bello Goronyo are currently meeting with five representatives of the aggrieved workers. (NAN)

May 29: Witches, wizards endorse Tinubu’s inauguration, ask Nigerians to pray for him
Tumblr media
The White Witches and Wizards Association of Nigeria, has rallied support for the inauguration of the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on May 29. The Association also urged Nigerians to pray for a smooth transition of power to the President-elect. Spokesperson of the group, Okhue Obo, in a statement, assured Tinubu of their efforts to cleanse and detoxify the Abuja environment for him to operate in. They also warned against any attempts by disgruntled politicians to disrupt Tinubu’s inauguration. Obi claimed that Tinubu was the winner of their spiritual presidential election conducted before the February terrestrial election. He stated that what the President-elect needs now is prayers of good health and long life from all Nigerians. The statement reads, “We welcome Tinubu back to the country. Recall that Tinubu emerged the winner at our group’s spiritual presidential election held about two months ago before the terrestrial February 25 presidential election. “Now, we have reviewed the volatile developments in the country. We urge the aggrieved parties to give peace a chance because resorting to self-help will do more harm than good to the polity. “There is no reason for Tinubu to be afraid because all the campaigns of calumny mounted against him are mere distractions. We are currently cleaning and detoxifying the Abuja environment where Tinubu will operate from. “What Tinubu needs now is prayers of good health and long life from all Nigerians so he could deliver on his Renewed Hope promise for better life for all.” VANGUARD Read the full article

YouTube

It was founded in 2005 by three former PayPal employees and later acquired by Google. The platform has become a hub for content creators to showcase their talents and engage with an audience.
One of YouTube's unique features is its recommendation algorithm that suggests new videos based on the user's watch history. This feature has been criticized for leading viewers down a rabbit hole of recommended videos, sometimes resulting in harmful or misleading content being promoted.
However, YouTube continues to be a valuable resource for learning and entertainment alike. From educational channels like Crash Course and TED-Ed to comedy skits from creators like Lilly Singh and Trevor Noah, there's something for everyone on this platform.
Moreover, it continuously evolves as more people use it every day. Many businesses have also turned to YouTube as a means of promoting their products or services through advertisements or influencer collaborations.

Yoga
Yoga is an ancient practice that originated in India over 5,000 years ago. It involves physical postures, breathing techniques and meditation to promote overall health and wellbeing.
One of the main benefits of practicing yoga is stress reduction. The deep breathing techniques used during a yoga session can help calm the mind and reduce feelings of anxiety or stress.
Another benefit of regular yoga practice is improved flexibility and strength. Yoga postures are designed to stretch and strengthen different muscles in the body, helping to improve balance, posture and overall physical health.
Yoga has also been shown to have positive effects on mental health conditions such as depression and insomnia. Regular practice may help alleviate symptoms by promoting relaxation, reducing negative thoughts patterns, improving sleep quality and increasing self-awareness.
Incorporating yoga into your daily routine can have numerous benefits for both the mind and body. Whether you're looking to reduce stress levels or increase physical strength, there's always something new to discover through this ancient practice.
Cryptocurrency
Cryptocurrency has been a hot topic lately, with Bitcoin leading the charge. While some people view it as a revolutionary alternative to traditional banking and investing methods, others remain skeptical about its long-term viability.
One of the main benefits of cryptocurrency is its decentralized nature - meaning that it operates without a central authority like a bank or government. This can make transactions faster and more secure, as there's no need for intermediaries to verify transactions.
However, because cryptocurrencies are not backed by any physical assets or government guarantee, they're also highly volatile and subject to sudden price fluctuations. Additionally, their lack of regulation means that they can be used for illegal activities such as money laundering or funding terrorism.
Despite these risks, many investors have still jumped on board the cryptocurrency bandwagon in search of potentially huge profits. Whether you decide to invest in digital currencies yourself is ultimately up to your personal risk tolerance and financial goals.
Fintech
Fintech, a term coined by combining finance and technology, is the new buzzword in the financial industry. It refers to digital innovation that enhances and automates traditional financial services. Fintech companies are disrupting the sector with their user-friendly interfaces, faster transactions, and lower fees.
Fintech has become popular due to its ability to streamline financial processes such as payments, lending, insurance and investment management. With fintech apps like PayPal, Venmo or Square Cash customers can transfer money easily without going through banks.
Fintech is also driving financial inclusion by providing access to banking services for underbanked people. The rise of mobile banking and online lending platforms has made it possible for people in remote areas to access loans or make payments without physically visiting a bank branch.
However, there are concerns about data security and privacy when it comes to using fintech applications. As these apps gather sensitive personal information from users during account setup process they need proper security measures put in place so that hackers won't have an easy time accessing user's confidential information.
Nonetheless Fintech has created many business opportunities especially for start-ups who want to create innovative solutions within this lucrative space of finance technology which looks promising for investors looking at ways of diversifying their portfolios into high-growth sectors with good returns on investments (ROI).
Kartela
Kartela is a fintech company in Russia that provides financial services to individuals and businesses. It offers various products such as loans, insurance, and investment opportunities. What sets them apart from other companies is their use of artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms to make credit decisions.
Their AI-powered underwriting system allows for quick approval of loan applications while minimizing the risk of default. Additionally, Kartela has partnerships with traditional banks which enable them to provide more comprehensive financial solutions.
Through their mobile app, users can access all their financial information in one place and manage it on-the-go. Moreover, they offer personal finance management tools which help customers budget effectively and save money.
Kartela's innovative approach to finance has garnered attention not just in Russia but also globally. They have received funding from international investors such as the World Bank Group's International Finance Corporation (IFC) and are expanding rapidly into new markets beyond Russia.
Kartela’s cutting-edge technology combined with its traditional banking partnerships makes it an exciting player in the fintech industry both now and in the future.
Russia
Russia is the world's largest country by land area, spanning 11 time zones and having a population of over 144 million people. It is known for its rich history, diverse culture, and stunning landscapes.
One of Russia's most iconic landmarks is the Kremlin, located in Moscow. The fortified complex contains four cathedrals and five palaces, including the official residence of the President of Russia.
The Russian cuisine is also famous for its unique flavors and dishes such as borscht soup made from beetroot or pelmeni dumplings filled with meat. Additionally, Russia has contributed to many fields such as literature with writers like Tolstoy or Dostoevsky; music with composers like Tchaikovsky or Rachmaninoff; science with names like Pavlov or Mendeleev; sports with athletes such as Yelena Isinbayeva or Maria Sharapova.
Russia has also been Simon Ekpa at the center of global politics due to its involvement in conflicts like Syria's civil war. Furthermore, it has faced criticism due to allegations of human rights violations within its borders.
Russia remains an essential player on both regional and international stages thanks to its vast resources and influence across multiple fields.
SEO
SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is the process of optimizing a website to increase its visibility and ranking on search engine results pages. It involves various techniques such as keyword research, content creation, link building and technical optimization.
One important aspect of SEO is understanding the algorithms that search engines use to determine rankings. These algorithms are constantly changing and evolving, so it's important to stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices.
Keyword research plays a crucial role in SEO as it helps identify relevant keywords and phrases that users are searching for. Creating quality content around these keywords can help drive organic traffic to your site.
Link building involves acquiring backlinks from other authoritative websites which improves your own website’s domain authority. Technical optimization includes ensuring your website has proper URL structures, page speed load times etc.
SEO should be approached as an ongoing process rather than a one-time fix. Consistent efforts towards improving user experience by providing valuable information through well-written compelling text will improve engagement metrics while also enhancing visibility resulting in better ranking positions!

Facebook has also revolutionized how businesses market their products and services online. With millions of potential customers just a click away, businesses can use targeted advertising campaigns on Facebook to reach their intended audience with ease.
However, Facebook has faced criticism for issues concerning privacy and security. The Cambridge Analytica scandal saw millions of user data being harvested without consent which led to increased scrutiny over how Facebook handles user data.
Despite these challenges, it's hard not to appreciate the impact that Facebook has had on modern society. From connecting long-lost friends and family members across oceans to providing a platform for activism around the world - it's clear that Facebook plays an important role in our lives today.

Blasts "Emi Lokan" and "I have paid my dues" Candidates Former President Olusegun Obasanjo today took a bold and decisive step with the candidates contesting for the 2023 presidential elections. He picked Peter Obi as the best that can transform Nigeria and blasted Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as one and the same. In particular, he used the terms ‘Emi Lokan’ (My turn) and ‘I have paid my dues’ to refer to Tinubu and Atiku. He called then one and same and said those were wrong atititude and mentality for leading Nigeria now. Obasanjo released a New Years message which was made available by one of his aides, Kehinde Akinyemi. This is what he said: “None of the contestants is a saint but when one compares their character, antecedent, their understanding, knowledge, discipline, and vitality that they can bring to bear and the great efforts required to stay focused on the job, particularly looking at where the country is today and with the experience on the job that I personally had, Peter Obi as a mentee has an edge. “Others like all of us have what they can collectively contribute to the new dispensation to liberation, restoration and salvaging of Nigeria. “One other important point to make about Peter is that he is a needle with thread attached to it from North and South and he may not get lost. “In other words, he has people who can pull his ears, if and when necessary. He has a young and able running mate with a clean track record of achievement both in public and private life.” The letter partly read, “I am constrained to write this letter to all Nigerians especially young Nigerians, friends of Nigeria globally as well as our development partners because of the gravity, responsibility and implications of the collective decision Nigerians, both young and old, will be making within the next two months. “The last seven and a half years have no doubt been eventful and stressful years for many Nigerians. We have moved from frying pan to fire and from mountain top to the valley. “Our leaders have done their best, but their best had turned out to be not the best for Nigeria and Nigerians at home and abroad. For most Nigerians, it was hell on earth. “Those of us who are alive should thank God for His mercies, brace ourselves for the remaining few months of this administration and pray and work very hard for an immediate better future – future of liberation, restoration and great hope and expectation. “We have had campaigners going up and down the country feeding us with what they mean and what they do not mean, what they understand and what they do not fully understand, what is possible and what is not possible, what is realistic and what is unrealistic, what is true and what is untrue. I believe that we need not be confused nor be gullible. They cannot form the new pedestal to reinvent and to invest in a new Nigeria based on an All-Nigeria Government for the liberation and restoration of Nigeria. Such a government must have representation from all sectors of our national life – public, private, civil society, professional, labour, employers, and the diaspora. “The solution should be in ‘we’ and ‘us’ and not in ‘me’ and ‘I’. “Mind you, I reiterate that no human being is an angel let alone a Messiah, but there are elements of these attributes and on comparative basis and by measure of what we know of, and what some of us have experienced from the front-runners, we must assess judiciously and choose wisely. “If anybody claims he or she has anything to the contrary, it will be up to him or her to prove to us. “I pray not to be proved right again in the bad sense but rather to be proved right in the positive and glorious sense of Nigeria becoming what God had created it to be – a land of plenty and prosperity united for common purpose of inclusive society, common security, shared prosperity, equity, egalitarianism, justice, and equal stake in the Project Nigeria with leadership role of Nigeria for the black race and fair share of global division of labour. “One ridiculous point that has been touted to justify unjustifiable appointments and selections is ‘competence’. In truth and in reality, genuine competence can be found in any region or section of Nigeria through track record and performance if only people will honestly and sincerely look hard for people with such attainment and attribute. Most of us in good conscience can testify to competence when we see any anywhere. What is masqueraded as ‘competence’ is self-interest and nepotism. “We have a unique opportunity to correct ourselves by ourselves for the good of ourselves. Those who are preaching division, segregation, separation, and want to use diversity for their own self and selfish interest are enemies of the nation, no matter what else they may disguisedly profess or proclaim.” This was tacit rejection of Tinubu and Atiku and a warm embrace for the more vibrant and youthful Peter Obi of the Labour Party. This endorsement will surely embolden some more prominent Nigerians to take a stand to save the country from the current rudderless steep it finds itself. Obasanjo Endorses Peter Obi
Tumblr media
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Sunday wrote a letter to Nigerians asking them to elect the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, ahead of the February election. Obasanjo made this known in a new year message titled, “My appeal to all Nigerians particularly Young Nigerians.” According to Obasanjo, none of the presidential candidates is a saint, but when compared to the knowledge, discipline and what they can offer, Obi has an edge. He wrote, “none of the contestants is a saint but when one compares their character, antecedent, their understanding, knowledge, discipline and vitality that they can bring to bear and the great efforts required to stay focused on the job, particularly looking at where the country is today and with the experience on the job that I personally had, Peter Obi as a mentee has an edge. “Others like all of us have what they can contribute to the new dispensation to liberation, restoration and salvaging of Nigeria collectively. One other important point to make about Peter is that he is a needle with thread attached to it from North and South and he may not get lost. In other words, he has people who can pull his ears, if and when necessary. Needless to say that he has a young and able running mate with a clean track record of achievement both in public and private life,” Obasanjo said in a letter personally signed. Describing the seven years of the administration of the president, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), as hell, saying, “The last seven and a half years have no doubt been eventful and stressful years for many Nigerians. We have moved from frying pan to fire and from mountain top to the valley.” Full text of the letter below: Dear Compatriots and Friends, MY APPEAL TO ALL NIGERIANS PARTICULARLY YOUNG NIGERIANS Happy New Year! May all our national calamities disappear this year. I am constrained to write this letter to all Nigerians especially young Nigerians, friends of Nigeria globally as well as our development partners because of the gravity, responsibility and implications of the collective decision Nigerians, both young and old, will be making within the next two months. The last seven and a half years have no doubt been eventful and stressful years for many Nigerians. We have moved from frying pan to fire and from mountain top to the valley. Our leaders have done their best, but their best had turned out to be not the best for Nigeria and Nigerians at home and abroad. For most Nigerians, it was hell on earth. Those of us who are alive should thank God for His mercies, brace ourselves for the remaining few months of this administration and pray and work very hard for an immediate better future – future of liberation, restoration and great hope and expectation. We have had campaigners going up and down the country feeding us with what they mean and what they do not mean, what they understand and what they do not fully understand, what is possible and what is not possible, what is realistic and what is unrealistic, what is true and what is untrue. I believe that we need not be confused nor be gullible. Let us be cautious, not to be fooled again. I have interacted with the major contestants and I find it interesting that, in one form or the other, each of them claims to want to do what I did during my Presidency and to take Nigeria back to where it was at the height of my Presidency and immediately after. I was pained that most of them do not realise that the Nigeria of today had been dragged down well below Nigeria of the beginning of my Presidency in June 1999. Although at that time, Nigeria was in very bad shape and was tottering on the verge of collapse and break-up. Even then, Nigeria was not faced with the level of pervasive and mind-numbing insecurity, rudderless leadership, buoyed by mismanagement of diversity and pervasive corruption, bad economic policies resulting in extremes of poverty and massive unemployment and galloping inflation. For these reasons, I kept pointing out to them that the instruments used in 1999 to 2007 and methodology used will grossly be inadequate for the perilous situation we now find ourselves. Without prejudice but with greatest respect to each individual with utmost regard for the best for Nigeria and all Nigerians and from my personal experience, all the major contestants claim to be my mentees. I will not deny such positions since I have worked with all of them directly and indirectly in government. I have come to realise a number of factors in character, attributes and attitude that are necessary in the job of directing the affairs of Nigeria successfully and at a time like this. These characteristics or attributes are many but let us be mindful of some key ones together. From interaction and experience, and as mentees as most of them claim, I will, without prejudice, fear or ill-will, make bold to say that there are four major factors to watch out for in a leader you will consider to hoist on yourself and on the rest of Nigerians in the coming election and they are what I call TVCP: Track record of ability and performance; Vision that is authentic, honest and realistic; Character and attributes of a lady and a gentleman who are children of God and obedient to God; and Physical and mental capability with soundness of mind as it is a very taxing and tasking assignment at the best of times and more so it is at the most difficult time that we are. Let me say straight away that ‘Emi Lokan’ (My turn) and ‘I have paid my dues’ are one and the same thing and are wrong attitude and mentality for the leadership of Nigeria now. They cannot form the new pedestal to reinvent and to invest in a new Nigeria based on an All-Nigeria Government for the liberation and restoration of Nigeria. Such a government must have representation from all sectors of our national life – public, private, civil society, professional, labour, employers, and the diaspora. The solution should be in ‘we’ and ‘us’ and not in ‘me’ and ‘I’. Mind you, I reiterate that no human being is an angel let alone a Messiah, but there are elements of these attributes and on comparative basis and by measure of what we know of, and what some of us have experienced from the front-runners, we must assess judiciously and choose wisely. If anybody claims he or she has anything to the contrary, it will be up to him or her to prove to us. I pray not to be proved right again in the bad sense but rather to be proved right in the positive and glorious sense of Nigeria becoming what God had created it to be – a land of plenty and prosperity united for common purpose of inclusive society, common security, shared prosperity, equity, egalitarianism, justice, and equal stake in the Project Nigeria with leadership role of Nigeria for the black race and fair share of global division of labour. One ridiculous point that has been touted to justify unjustifiable appointments and selections is ‘competence’. We have a unique opportunity to correct ourselves by ourselves for the good of ourselves. Those who are preaching division, segregation, separation, and want to use diversity for their own self and selfish interest are enemies of the nation, no matter what else they may disguisedly profess or proclaim. The Challenge Is For Nigerian Youth: If we fall prey again, we will have ourselves to blame and no one can say how many more knocks Nigeria can take before it tips over. To be forewarned is to be fore-armed. Future is not emotion. I challenge the youth to arise. Let nobody pull wool over your eyes to divide you and/or segregate you to make you underlings. Nigerian youth, wherever they come from, North or South, East or West need education which is now denied to over 20 million children; Nigerian youth also need skills, empowerment, employment, reasonably good living conditions, welfare and well-being. My dear young men and women, you must come together and bring about a truly meaningful change in your lives. If you fail, you have no one else to blame. Your present and future are in your hands to make or to mar. The future of Nigeria is in the same manner in your hands and literally so. If for any reason you fail to redeem yourself and your country, you will have lost the opportunity for good and you will have no one to blame but yourselves and posterity will not forgive you. Get up, get together, get going and get us to where we should be. And you, the youth, it is your time and your turn. ‘Eyin Lokan’ (Your turn). The power to change is in your hands. Your future, my future, the future of grandchildren and great grandchildren is in your hands. Politics and elections are numbers game. You have the numbers, get up, stand up and make your numbers count. Let me say it again, loud and clear, Nigeria has no business with insecurity, poverty, insurgency, banditry, unemployment, hunger, debt, division and disunity. We are in these situations because advertently or inadvertently, our leaders have made the choices. They have done the best they could do. Let them take their rest deservedly or not and let them enjoy their retirement as Septuagenarians or older. I became Head of State at 39 and at 42, I had retired into the farm. When it was considered necessary, I was drafted back into active political life after twenty years of interregnum. I came back at 62 and by 70, I was on my way out. Others like General Gowon and Enahoro became national leaders at 33 and 27 respectively and General Gowon at the helms of leadership of Nigeria at the highest level. The vigour, energy, agility, dynamism and outreach that the job of leadership of Nigeria requires at the very top may not be provided as a septuagenarian or older. I know that from personal experience. And it is glaring out of our current experiences. Otherwise, we will be fed with, “The President says” and we will neither see nor hear him directly as we should. Yes, for some, age and physical and mental disposition are not in tandem. But where and when they are with obvious evidence, they must be taken into account for purpose of reality. And yet it is a job in our present situation where the team leader or captain of the team should be up and doing, outgoing inside and outside and speaking to the nation on almost daily basis visibly and as much as possible interactively and meeting his colleagues all over the world on behalf of Nigeria. Youth of Nigeria, your time has come, and it is now and please grasp it. If not now, it will be never. I appeal to you to turn the tide on its head and march forward chanting ‘Awa Lokan’ (Our turn) not with a sense of entitlement, but with a demonstrable ideological commitment to unity and transformation of Nigeria. Leave The Past, Face The Future: Can we let the past go? I appeal to the young Nigerians to stop inheriting other people’s prejudices and enemies. Make your own friends and stop inheriting your father’s enemies. Let’s stop criminalising and demonising one another on the basis of the civil war on which we are all wrong. And let’s praise and thank God for preserving the oneness of Nigeria. The Scripture says that if God would take account of all our wrongdoings, nobody would be able to stand before Him. While not suffering from amnesia, let us stop still fighting and reacting to the civil war in our hearts, minds, heads and our attitude acrimoniously. Let’s stop living on our different wrongs or mistakes of the past: treasonable felony, Tiv riot and its handling, first military coup and its aftermath, second military coup, araba, pogrom and the civil war, all in the 1960s. And more recently OPC, Egbesu, MASSOB, IPOB, Boko Haram and banditry. No region can claim to be innocent or to be saintly. And no justification will suffice. In our respective individual or regional positions, we have done right and we have done wrong. It is therefore not right for any of us to be sanctimonious to see ourselves as saints and the rest as devils incarnate. Just let us agree to move forward together in mutual forgiveness, one accord, inclusive society, equality and equity. Together and without bias and discrimination, fear or favour, we can have Nigeria of one nation in diversity, in truth and in practice. Let us honour, cherish, respect and even celebrate our diversity which is the basis of our potential greatness and strength. If we will only continue to harp on wrongs done by each of us individually or collectively, we will never be able to stand together. If we will continue with wide brush to paint a national or sub-national group as bad and never to be trusted with leadership because of past error or mistakes that some of them were responsible for and treat their offspring as inheritors, it will amount to great injustice that will surely lead to no peace, no security and no stability for development and progress. First, no group is faultless; second, for the greatness of the whole, we need one another as constituents of the whole; third, we cannot be talking and working for Africa’s integration and for Nigeria’s disintegration at the same time. Why for instance should I be stigmatized or despised because of my place of origin, place of birth or where I come from? Where I was born, by whom I was born and when I was born were not choices made by me. They were choices and prerogatives of God. Any antagonism against me on that basis is unfair and is tantamount to fighting against God, the Creator. Such derogatory attitude and mindset do not build any human institution let alone a nation. While not forgetting the past, let us put the past behind us for it not to continue to mar our present and our future and that of the coming generation. We must rise above primordial animalistic instincts and behaviour. Yes, we are human and higher than animals in the wild. Let us develop national ethos and national characteristics that can take us collectively to the promised. My dear young men and women, let me assure you that there are only two tribes of people in Nigeria a tribe of good people and a tribe of bad people. You are either a good Nigerian of Igbo extraction, Kanuri extraction, etc, or a bad Nigerian of Yoruba extraction, Ijaw extraction etc. I will at this juncture want to commend the politicians as they have generally been reasonably civil in their campaigns without making politics as a call to war against opponents. Genuine and fair competition conveys greater legitimacy in any political rivalry or competition. A situation where people in authority and power assume such positions through foul and despicable means and continue to espouse and act in ways that only engender conflict or war by subverting legitimacy of power and authority does not augur well for the polity and as such, the moral foundation of the government and the society will be terribly weakened. May God help, save, protect and sustain Nigeria for all Nigerians, for Africa and for the human race. We can only continue to play politics of ethnicity, religion, region and money bags at the peril of our country and to self-destruction. We need selfless, courageous, honest, patriotic, in short, outstanding leadership with character and fear of God beyond what we have had in recent past. None of the contestants is a saint but when one compares their character, antecedent, their understanding, knowledge, discipline and vitality that they can bring to bear and the great efforts required to stay focused on the job particularly looking at where the country is today and with the experience on the job that I personally had, Peter Obi as a mentee has an edge. Others like all of us have what they can contribute to the new dispensation to liberation, restoration and salvaging of Nigeria collectively. One other important point to make about Peter is that he is a needle with thread attached to it from North and South and he may not get lost. In other words, he has people who can pull his ears, if and when necessary. Read the full article

By • Olalekan Fagbade Reactions  over Peter Obi's alleged cash gift to Arise TV Journalist Rufai Oseni     A cascade of reactions have continued to trail a recent report that the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, allegedly funded the funeral of the late father of Arise TV’s host, Rufai Oseni. Reno Omokri, the Special Assistant to former President Goodluck Jonathan, alleged Obi funded the funeral of Rufai’s father. Omokri alleged this on his X account on August 25 with a picture of Obi and Rufai. He asked the former Anambra Governor to come clean on whether or not he gave money to Oseni during the latter’s father’s funeral, a move Reno said has influenced the journalist into making political comments and analysis in favour of Obi. He posted: “AriseTV and Mr Rufai Oseni should kindly answer the following question. Did Mr Peter Obi, the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, fund the funeral of Mr Rufai Oseni’s father by giving him money in cash or via electronic means, either directly or through a third party, in August 2022, “…and has that influenced Mr. Oseni’s open bias in favour of Peter Obi, whereby Mr. Oseni used the AriseTV platform as a medium to campaign for and launder the image of Mr Peter Obi, and his undisguised personal animosity towards me for my refusal to support Mr Peter Obi’s Presidential ambition? I counsel them to think very carefully before they answer.” Omokri, in one of the tweets, further called on Obi to publicly deny ever-inducing Oseni financially. He added: “I asked a question that Mr. Peter Obi has NOT answered and has tried to use semantics to dodge. “My question is this: Did Peter Obi fund the funeral of Mr Rufai Oseni’s father by giving him money in cash or via electronic means, either directly or through a third party, and has that influenced Mr. Oseni’s open bias in favour of Peter Obi, whereby Mr. Oseni used the AriseTV platform as a medium to campaign for and launder the image of Mr Peter Obi, and his undisguised personal animosity towards me for my refusal to support Mr Peter Obi’s Presidential ambition,” asked Omokri. Reacting to Omokri’s questions, Obi refuted the claims that he financed the burial of Oseni’s father. In his response via his X account, Obi said that he never sponsored such, adding that it is “a categorical lie.” According to him: “There is a recent case where my name has been mentioned in a malicious and cheap blackmail against one of Nigeria’s best Television presenters, Mr. Rufai Oseni, who has stood sternly for what is right and has challenged me fearlessly on some occasions while speaking truth to power. “I have recently been mentioned to have bribed Mr. Rufai Oseni by financially sponsoring the burial of his father. “Let me clearly state that this is a categorical lie. It is not true, cannot be true and will never be true. Everyone who understands or follows my approach to things will attest to the fact that I do not give anyone money to promote my name.” He added that he never enticed any journalist to speak or write in his favour. “I have never and will never monetarily induce any journalist to speak or write in my favour. When I am invited to birthday celebrations or funerals, people know that I do attend. “Countless journalists, media personnel, the less privileged, the wealthy etc., have all invited me to their occasions and they will attest to the fact that I honour such invitations, especially when people are grieving. I have never been to Rufai’s village. Even at the point of writing this, I do not know where he is from. “One then wonders why people could decide to tarnish other people’s image for no justifiable reason. To those involved in such evil endeavours, I wish them well and pray that God will have mercy on them.” #cashgifttoOseniRufai #ReactionsoverPeterObi’s

Do your worst, Fani-Kayode slams British envoy afresh
Tumblr media
A former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has again tackled the British Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria, Ben Llewellyn-Jones, after the envoy faulted him on some comments he made during the just-concluded electioneering in Lagos State. Llewellyn-Jones, speaking on a current affairs programme on Nigerian Info on Sunday, also lamented that the ruling APC had yet to distance itself from the controversial comments made by Fani-Kayode, to which the former aviation minister in a series of tweet on Sunday evening said he wouldn’t be intimidated by a “British civil servant”. However, in a fresh tweet on Monday morning, Fani-Kayode, who is also a member of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, challenged the British envoy to do his worst, saying he feared no one. He wrote, “Permit me to add the following addendum to my earlier personal response to the little Englander. I ask, who is this strange little British diplomat who believes he can tell us what Lagos state should be like in terms of ethnic make-up and how it should be run? “He has accused me of hate speech and incitement simply because I said Lagos is not a no man’s land and that the Yoruba ought to be respected in their territory. Well let me say clearly and categorically that I have no apology for saying this and I stand by every word I said. We do not need any lessons from him. Foreign diplomats come to this country to enhance our relationship with theirs and not to give us lectures. “They are not supposed to interfere in our internal affairs, to be partial, to tell us what to do or to tell us how to do it. They are meant to observe in studied silence and make their concerns and representations, if any, known privately. They cannot get into the political ring of fire.” He added that foreign diplomats should not tell people who to vote for, how to vote or what God to worship. Challenging the British envoy to do his worst, Fani-Kayode said, “That strange little bald man with slooping shoulders at the British Embassy has really got a nerve. I will take up this matter formally. His diplomatic immunity is not absolute: it is qualified. He is therefore subject to our laws. “As for his threats, I challenge him to do his very worst. We are not your slaves. Nigeria is an independent sovereign nation. We are no longer a colony. To hell with him and those that are egging him on and licking his feet. I am FFK: I fear no-one and I bow before no man.” Continuing he said the hands of the British government were also not clean saying their “strong economy was built on the blood, sweat and tears of Irish, African and Indian slaves.” “The days of dictation are long gone. What they are trying to do in our country and to our country will not work. Bola Tinubu won a free and fair election and, whether they like it or not, he will be sworn in on May 29th 2023. “Those that want to impose an ING on our nation and follow it up with a civil war in an attempt to dismember and destroy her shall not prevail. Nigeria shall remain united, shall be at peace, shall flourish, shall we excel and democracy shall be alive and well in our nation for many years to come,” he added. Recall that the British High Commission had last week said the UK Minister of State for Development and Africa, Andrew Mitchell MP, was prepared to take action against those who engaged in or incited electoral violence during the just-concluded general elections. Llewellyn-Jones, yesterday, said the UK was already collating names of perpetrators and would impose sanctions “including preventing people from obtaining UK visas or imposing sanctions under our human rights sanctions regime.” Read the full article
