Some folks: Actually, Bruce was more like an older brother to Dick when they started.

Bruce, written by Bob Kane in the 40s, aka the early Robin days: Dick is my ward, he is like a son to me. I love him, I play with him like a father would with his son and I parent him like a father would (in the 1940s). If he cries or if he is scared, I open my arms to held him close. If someone blood related to him shows up to take him, I will fight them. Finders keepers, he's my boy now.
