MWW Artwork of the Day (3/5/22) Uemura Shoen (Japanese, 1875-1949) Firefly (1913) Ink and color on paper Yamanate (Japan) Museum of Art
Nihonga (Japanese-style painting) artist Shoen Uemura (1875-1949) got top billing at the Yamatane’s show, and not only because her lyrical bijinga (beautiful women paintings) are such an automatic draw for modern museum goers. Uemura is without question an important figure in the history of Japanese women artists in that she achieved an unprecedented level of recognition within her lifetime.  In Japan, painting had long been considered a desirable accomplishment for the cultured woman. Brushes and other painting supplies were often part of the sumptuous konrei chodo (bridal furnishing set) that an upper-class woman would take with her when she married. During the Edo Period (1603-1868), many women were able to paint in private or in the company of close friends, but because women did not have educational opportunities outside of the home, it was difficult for even very talented women to progress in their art.
More of this artist's work appears in this MWW Special Collection: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1415339218571443&type=3

Carth and Force Sensitivity (crossposted from Reddit r/kotor)
This is for @k-she-rambles:
Okay, so while we're shooting the bantha crap over on KOTOR fan theories, u/134340Goat mentioned my all time favorite "Have you been chewing spice?!" fan theory when it comes to KOTOR: Is Carth Force Sensitive?
So this one starts with a story. I mentioned my brother in law, who is pretty much Keeper of the Jedi Archives. Seriously, he's an English teacher and my sister is a librarian. They met at a sci fi convention and their first date was Phantom Menace. We're taking not just geeks, but geeks who can throw the damn bookshelf at you. Brother in law bought KOTOR on the day it launched and turned it into a week long binge watch at his house. And because brother in law is that kind of geek, he's translating the characters into the West End D6 system. I'm watching him do a playthrough, and he's got Canderous and Zaalbar at Ajunta Pal's tomb.
Allronix: Huh. That's odd. Why aren't commenting on anything when Ajunta is speaking?
Bro in law: Oh. They can't even see Ajunta. You have to be Force Sensitive to see a Force Ghost The stronger your Sensitivity, the better you can see it.
Allronix: Really? Then how come Carth can see it?
Bro in law (gets the "holy shit, I gotta confirm this" look): Really?! He just sees something out the corner of his eye or something?
Allronix: No, he sees Ajunta just fine. Understands what the dude's saying too.
Bro in law instantly rolls back to his last save, swaps Zaalbar for Carth, and sees the bit in question.
Bro in law: Oh. Dear. (Goes over to make some quick scribbles on Carth's character sheet)
Okay, so maybe that was a lore fail. I didn't really think about it too much until I hit that False Level Up glitch and ran around with Carth and Mission as Sentinels. Now, while I couldn't really see Mission as a Sensitive, that little bit with my bro in law nagged at me. And became a "once you see it you can't unsee it." Apologies to TV Tropes, where some of these were my additions to the Wild Mass Guess entry on this topic.
Any one of these on its own is pretty easy to blow off. After all, man is career military, and knows All this Shit is Weird. I also like to think of Sensitivity as a spectrum and not a switch. If all life is connected by the Force, then all life would be Sensitive to some degree or another. It’s just a matter of to what degree. It’s only as the list gets longer and longer does the case start looking damning...
What are the odds of surviving that attack on the Endar Spire, getting to the escape pods, sharing the last escape pod with the mindwiped Sith Lord, piloting through the chaos, landing in what passes for the "good" part of town, remaining uninjured, pulling the badly injured mindwiped Sith Lord from the wreck, evading Sith detection while all this is going on, and just happening to find a dump of an apartment where the landlord's not asking questions? That is one amazing string of coincidences and good luck. Get that many in Star Wars, and it's definitely The Force sticking its nose in things.
Piloting the escape pod to land in the Upper City, piloting the Hawk through the Sith Blockade of Taris, the random Sith patrols, the escape from the Leviathan, and the fleet around Lehon along with the crash landing that left the ship easily repairable. Now, compare to Atton who we know to be an excellent pilot and drawing on The Force who still manages to crash the ship at least three times.
He's a scary good judge of character if you're interacting with other NPCs. If you watch him with other NPC characters, he's got a pretty good compass as to which characters are being helpful and which ones are full of shit. The only one he calls incorrectly is Rukil, who is probably also an untrained Sensitive (the age, the "marked" comments) and half senile, which is probably throwing him.
Related to that, his distrust and wariness about something not adding up with the PC, the Jedi Council feeding the party a line of bull, that things just aren't adding up. And on all of it? Dead on. He's 100% right about the Player Character, he just expected something a little less crazy than "that's Darth freaking Revan."
If you play Female Revan, then Carth's the one who gets fried in the torture cages on the Leviathan. Saul comments how strange it is that Carth takes so much punishment and still remains conscious. Now, this is a low level thing, but in lore, Force Sensitives have drawn on it to keep them alive or conscious under duress. Explicitly, the first sign we got that Leia was a Sensitive when she withstood the Imperial torture droid.
Another of his scary ass judge of character feats? In the comics, Zayne (who is on the run from the Jedi, who framed him for the murder of his classmates) has a vision that Mandalorians are coming for Serroco. Saul? Laughs it off, throws Zayne in the brig. Zayne's own friends don't even believe him. Carth gets one of those creepy hunches and starts calling in "duck and cover" sirens as far as he can broadcast, which sends seventeen cities and millions of people heading for shelter. It saves their lives and Carth is called a hero for it. Armed with another hunch, he disobeys Saul (remember this is before Saul nukes Telos) and lets Zayne "escape" from custody. Mind you, not even the Jedi or his party members believed Zayne. Carth did.
Carth makes a lot of creepy weird offhand predictions about the future. He says he knows on some level he'll be there when Saul dies. That certainly pans out. He makes an offhand prediction that the Jedi have set the party up to take a fall. Right again. He tells a female PC that she'll have to make a choice soon, one she can't walk away from. And then we get the temple top. He even blurts out that "I sensed you would have to make a choice soon, and that was it*, I can feel it!"* If you specify a LS Female Revan, his recording for T3-M4 says he's had a hunch Revan would leave without warning. Again, spot on.
Specify a LS male Revan, and Carth will remark to Bastila that seeing the Exile reminds him "there are worse things to lose." The only other people who can see just how screwed up the Exile is are the Jedi Masters, Chodo Habat, and the Force Sensitive party members.
Specify a LS female Revan, and Carth will insist that he would know if Revan were dead (again, scary ass intuition) and that there's an "emptiness" where she used to be. Now, remember one of the things about a broken Force Bond? It would simply be "empty, a wound."
You know how your party members in KOTOR 2 feel upset or even horrified as they realize they feel compelled to protect Exile and can't being themselves to leave, even when said actions are kicking puppies? And how they swing wildly from being crazy, almost stalker level possessive of them to being scared out of their wits and clamming up when you try to pry anything out of them? And the more potent (and untapped) their Force Sensitivity, the more they get hammered with the effect? (Mira and Atton in particular) Yeah. Now, Carth's "I don't wanna talk" looks a bit different, doesn't it? It could also account for that romance arc, especially if you roll a DSF Revan and go for that "everyone dies" ending.
Again, Ajunta Pal. Seeing a Force Ghost? Yeah. Some degree of Sensitivity needed. Understanding what he's saying? Yeah. Takes a bit more than that. And Carth makes a weirdly insightful comment about the Dark Side on top of it.
Notice that this a wall o text argument already, and I'm now just getting to the "Yeah, his kid is able to throw around mid-level Dark Side powers and packing a red lightsaber." Given the jawline and the muleheaded attitude, no way Morgana was fooling around with the pizza delivery boy. That's definitely Carth's kid, and that's definitely Force Sensitivity. Now, while it can skip a generation (see Theron Shan), it tends to run pretty heavy in families.
Lastly? Gee. He comes from a planet settled by and heavily populated by descendants of Force Sensitives who failed their training. I'm also willing to bet some bastard children of Jedi get passed off as "foundlings" and "orphans" and dumped there, too. Jedi are forbidden attachments, but not sworn to celibacy, so...yeah, bastard kids are gonna happen. There's probably a Jedi or two in that family tree. It's circumstantial evidence at best, but it still supports the case.
Now, any arguments I missed? Counterarguments?
And the million credit question: If there's a character who gets to break this news to poor Flyboy, who do you think would actually take that on? How do you think Carth would take that kind of news? And what, if anything, would come of it?
I kinda figure Jolee might be the only one nuts enough to poke that with a stick...I also kinda figure "Sentinel" would fit best. Consular? Hell no. He hired Mical for that. Guardian works with the feats, but the whole "ferreting out deceit and injustice?" Yeah. That's Carth.

CHODO Ultraman Wave 9 announced - Ultraseven, Cosmos, Nexus
While Ultraman Tiga is drawing most of the figure attention for his 25th anniversary, Bandai’s comprehensive candy toy lines are making sure other seasons don’t get ignored -- as such, the 9th wave of Ultraman’s CHODO toyline has been revealed through Premium Bandai; with its contents being Ultraseven, Alien Metron, Nexus Junis Blue and Cosmos Luna Mode along with an accessory pack. While little has been shown beyond individual images, Seven features an updated SHODO sculpt compared to his previous figure; Nexus is of course based on Junis Red from CHODO Wave 8; and Cosmos is an entirely new entry in the line, seemingly to celebrate his 20th anniversary. The accessory set features multiple beam effects for all figures involved as well as an alternate slugger-holding hand for Ultraseven, a stand, an alternate arm for Nexus and a table to recreate some of Alien Metron’s more iconic appearances.
CHODO Ultraman Wave 9 releases at general retail in July 2021 for 5500 Yen, with pre-orders to begin in the next few days.

Bonds Unbroken -  Chapter 17: The Wrong Crowd
Atton slumped onto the bench, head tilted over the back. “I had no idea a bunch of pacifists could be so ‘mercenary.’ They’re in the wrong business.”
Meetra smiled at him over her shoulder, then returned to her inspection of the vivarium’s pastel-bloomed bachani plant. Atton was exaggerating, but not by much. Chodo’s “errands” had sent the three of them from one end of Citadel Station to the other: first to the docks to ensure the delivery of a new protocol droid, where a Czerka mercenary ambush had answered Meetra’s questions about the fate of the droid’s predecessor, and then back to the Residential Modules to “convince” a Duros engineer to hand over his technician credentials in order to reprogram the local Czerka office’s reception droid. Not that it had been much of a shakedown - when the Duros revealed the debt preventing him from risking his job, Chodo had provided the funds without a second thought.
Now, it was just a matter of waiting until B-4D4, the droid saboteur, returned with the information he’d been sent to collect. Meetra had spent the time exploring the compound, Atton trailing at her heels. She wasn’t sure where Kreia had disappeared to - likely she had found a hiding place as far from the Ithorians as possible. The old woman’s distaste was almost palpable and it wasn’t limited to just Chodo - the Ithorians seemed to draw her ire just by existing. Meetra wasn’t sure why; true, the aliens could be overly polite and their idea of personal space was closer than she was entirely comfortable with, but they were otherwise pleasant.
“You are familiar with the properties of bachani?” Meetra started a bit at the vivarium keeper’s rumble near her shoulder. Despite their size, the Ithorians were surprisingly light on their feet. He raised his hands and took a half step back, concern in his wide set eyes. “Forgive me, Meetra Surik. I did not intend to alarm you.”
“It’s fine; I was just a little lost in thought.” She smiled reassuringly at him. “To answer your question, I know a little. A old friend had a bit of talent for botany.” She omitted Alek’s name, more for Atton’s benefit than the Ithorian’s. Though the guilt ate at her, she still couldn’t bring herself to tell him how deep her connection to Revan and Malak went. Irrational as it seemed, part of her balked at the idea of him thinking less of her for it. “It has medicinal properties, right? From the blossoms?”
He nodded. “Its most basic use, yes. We’re hoping to implement this in a slightly different fashion. You’ll notice the specimens we have here are taller than average.”
“I’ll take your word for it.”
The keeper chuckled. “Our hope is that by engineering their height, they will spread further - perhaps even outside the restoration zones. It is a hardy plant; it may be able to restore both the earth and the air, given enough time.”
Meetra looked back at the plant. Its purple petals and thin frame didn’t look like they would survive a stiff breeze, much less the ruined surface of Telos. In a way, it reminded her of Revan, before she’d been Revan - delicate beauty that hid a fearsome strength - and look at everything she’d accomplished, both wonderful and terrible. The bachani was in powerful company if the keeper was right.
Behind her, Atton lifted his head, watching her carefully. The moments when Meetra retreated into herself, when she was physically present but light years away in her head, were her most honest. He could only see one side of her face, but even that showed a longing so powerful it almost took his breath away. Sadness mingled with regret and reverie strong enough to make him want a drink, and the emotions weren’t even his own. Part of him wanted to know her secrets, if only to properly console her - he’d never liked seeing a woman in pain - but a voice in the back of his mind kept him seated, the same thought on an endless loop: Funny, you’ve caused more than one woman enough pain.
“Meetra Surik!” Atton straightened as Meetra turned at Moza’s approach, pretending to examine his fingernails. Chodo’s assistant was visibly excited, as much as any Ithorian could be. “My apologies for the interruption, but the droid B-4D4 has returned. Chodo requests your presence when it presents its information.”
“Thank you, Moza.” Meetra turned back to the vivarium keeper and gave him a small smile. “I wish you luck with the bachani.” He inclined his head, wide eyes crinkling at the corners. Meetra retrieved her staff from near the door and moved to follow Moza out of the room, motioning for Atton to come along. He rolled his eyes in mock annoyance, but stood and followed them back to Chodo’s office. The Ithorian priest was there with B-4D4, as was Kreia, though Meetra was unsure who had informed her of the protocol droid’s arrival. She met the old woman’s blind gaze briefly, but Kreia just nodded toward Chodo.
“Ah, welcome back, Meetra Surik,” Chodo rumbled in greeting, then waved a hand at the protocol droid. “Please, B-4D4. What were you able to retrieve from the Czerka mainframe?”
“A record of the Czerka Corporation's actions against your restoration project, Master Habat.” B-4D4 handed over a datapad. “Additionally, I took the liberty of including any bribes or black market transactions made in regard to your restoration efforts.” “Excellent.” Chodo scrolled through the datapad’s contents before passing it off to Moza. “With this evidence, Czerka will no longer be able to hide behind the Telosian government’s ignorance - or its assistance. Have it sent to our contact in the Republic immediately.” Moza inclined his head and shuffled out, datapad in hand, and Chodo turned back to the protocol droid. “Thank you for your assistance, B-4D4. You’re free to return to your post.”
“You’re just going to let it go?” Atton tipped his head to the side, brow furrowed, as he glanced from Chodo to B-4D4 and back again. “You think that’s wise? All it would take is one manual review of its memory core and Czerka will be at your doorstep.”
“I doubt it would take even that much effort to bring Czerka to our door.” Chodo’s deadpan delivery was somewhat ruined by his natural Ithorian monotone. “However, I did have our technician implement some safeguards. B-4D4?”
The protocol droid shuffled to face Atton. “I assure you I will cause no trouble for Master Habat. There is a protocol in place that will activate as soon as I cross the compound threshold. The record of my time here will be stored in a compartment inaccessible to anyone but Master Habat or his secretary, including myself.”
Atton shook his head. “Your funeral.”
B-4D4 tottered back toward Chodo. “Will there be anything else, Master Habat?”
“No, you’ve done more than enough, B-4D4.” Chodo gestured toward the door to his office. “Please, speak to Moza on your way out. He will help ensure safe passage back to Czerka.” He waited until the protocol droid left the room before turning to Meetra. “I should be saying the same to you, Meetra Surik. Without your assistance, I fear our efforts to restore Telos would have been for naught. Now, we have a fighting chance.”
“I’m sensing a ‘but’ here,” Atton said, and the wry amusement in his voice didn’t reach his eyes.
Chodo paused, eyes narrowing, and Meetra got the sense that if he’d had a visible mouth, the expression would have been very similar to the one Atton often elicited from Kreia. “While losing their hold in the Telosian government will inconvenience Czerka, but pocketed officials and the black market are not their only forms of support. If you will allow my selfishness for a while longer, I would ask one more favor of you.”
“There’s always a third,” Atton muttered under his breath. Meetra glanced sharply at him over her shoulder and he rolled his eyes, moving to sit down in the nearest chair - at least, to the best of his abilities. Built with Ithorian proportions in mind, the seat was too wide and the back absent armrests, so the lazy, affected slouch ended up as more of an awkward slump.
Still, Atton had a point, and Meetra kept her tone reserved when she spoke to Chodo. “What do you need from us?”
He hesitated, the thick digits on his hands interlacing and releasing rapidly - the first sign of nervousness he’d displayed in front of her. “Czerka has long held an… ‘investment’ agreement with Lopak Slusk, the, ah, head of the Citadel Station’s Exchange branch.” Atton barked a laugh, a noise somewhere between amusement and disbelief, and this time Meetra didn’t rebuke him. Chodo refused to meet her eyes, his gaze trained on the floor. “I know what it means to ask this of you, Meetra Surik, but if Czerka continues to receive support from Slusk, our work will remain in danger, and Telos will suffer for it.”
“Slusk is only the leader of this branch, correct?” Chodo nodded, confusion in the tightened wrinkles around his eyes. “What about the head of the Exchange? I doubt he’d want his organization tied to Czerka’s public fall out.”
“You’ll have to forgive her; she’s not really up to date on current events.” Atton smirked, not entirely unkindly, when Meetra glared at him. “Goto’s not really a corporate complaint kind of guy. You don’t find him unless he wants to be found, and as long as they keep the money flowing his way, he doesn’t particularly care who his goons associate with.”
“Your companion is right, Meetra Surik,” Chodo rumbled. “When I first learned of the Exchange’s association with Czerka, I attempted to contact their leader, but outside of his name, I could discover nothing about him. It seems few in the Exchange know more than even that.” He started to fidget again, big hands twining around each other. “I would like to stress that I prefer Lopak Slusk severe his connection with Czerka of his own accord.”
Atton chuckled. “He means try not to beat the guy to a pulp.”
“I know what he means.” Meetra frowned, bit the inside of her cheek. After a moment, she sighed and nodded. “I’ll speak to him. But I can’t promise he’ll agree. If he doesn’t…” She trailed off, the implication hanging between them.
Chodo nodded, brow furrowing. “Agreed. Thank you again, Meetra Surik. I know we ask too much.”
“What you’ve offered in return is worth the risk, Chodo.” Meetra smiled, small and sad. “Besides, I’m used to it. We’ll be back when it’s done.” She turned and left the room without a word or a backward glance, Atton scrambling to his feet to follow her. Kreia leveled a blind stare at Chodo for a long moment before she left as well. The priest stood, wide eyes fixed on the doorway for a few beats, then he turned and crossed to his desk, sinking down into the chair with a heavy sigh.
Once outside the compound, Atton caught Meetra’s arm, pulling his hand back quickly when she spun to face him. For a moment, there was something dark behind her expression, but it was quickly replaced with open curiosity. Whether this was a mask or she was simply unaware of her initial emotion, he wasn’t sure. “Can we pause for a minute and talk this through?”
She frowned. “What do you mean?”
He stared at her flatly. “‘A Jedi walks into the local Exchange office’ doesn’t have a very good punchline these days. If you can even get in. I doubt Slusk is in the habit of giving tours to strangers off the street.”
Meetra tightened her grip on her staff. “There’s always a way in.”
“I thought Jedi were supposed to be diplomatic.”
“Good thing I’m not a Jedi.”
Atton pressed a hand to his temple. “You’re putting on a great act, then. Jedi never did have a problem involving other people in their schemes.”
Her eyes narrowed. “You can leave. I’m sure Chodo is willing to pay your fare.”
“Don’t think it hasn’t crossed my mind.” He turned to Kreia. “Care to step in here? You speak crazy Jedi; maybe you can convince her not to us all killed.” Atton stalked away a short distance, pretending to examine the nearest transport terminal. Meetra glared after him, anger rising hot in her chest before Kreia stilled it with a chuckle.
“While it amuses me to watch you turn your frustration on the fool, it is misplaced.” Meetra transferred her glower to Kreia, but its edge was blunted on the old woman’s blank stare. “Truthfully, I share your annoyance with Habat and his Ithorians; though not, I think, for the same reasons.” Her mouth tightened into a thin line. “His audacity vexes me more than his requests. You realize he intends you to be a pawn; a means to his own ends.”
“That’s rhetorical, right.” Meetra’s deadpanned, the response more statement than question. “If you see any other choices, please, enlighten me.”
“I am simply trying to understand your motivations.” If Kreia found Meetra’s flippancy irritating, it didn’t show. “If it is only to retrieve the Ebon Hawk, or even if you believe Habat’s claims that he can restore you, I can understand. If not…”
Meetra scowled, but she couldn’t make herself meet Kreia’s eyes. “Why does it matter?”
“Because you are far too important to become entangled in these little lives.” There was an edge to Kreia’s voice now. “You are all that stands between the Sith and domination, and they are keenly aware of it. If you allow yourself to be distracted by the inconsequential struggles of this planet, you are not only dooming yourself, but the rest of the galaxy as well. How many of them will thank you then?”
Meetra was silent for a moment, eyes downcast. When she lifted her gaze to meet Kreia’s once more, there was a flicker of defiance in it. “And if I ignore them now, how many will still be alive to thank me if I defeat the Sith? If I can help, I can’t just step over them; it’s not right. I already tried that, and it didn’t end well.”
Kreia shook her head, but she wasn’t angry. “‘A Jedi’s life is sacrifice,’” she echoed, one corner of her mouth curving up in condescension at Meetra’s scowl. “The past cannot be changed; what point is there in atoning for it? Tell me, would you act differently? Would you side with the Council, hiding behind bureaucracy and policies?”
“That’s not the poi - “
“If your answer isn’t no, then you do yourself a disservice.” All humor was gone from Kreia’s voice. “You discredit every decision that made you who are now. Clinging to an infantile sense of right and wrong did not stop the Mandalorians. It will not stop the Sith.” She paused, allowing the gravity of her words to sink in. “Now, we have wasted enough time. Regardless of your motives, we must retrieve the Ebon Hawk.” She glanced past Meetra to Atton. “Which means we require your fool in a more cooperative mood.”
Meetra scrunched her nose at the continued insult, but Kreia waved her off and made her way toward the shuttle dock. With another sigh, Meetra joined Atton at the terminal. He didn’t turn toward her, but she saw him shoot a quick glance sideways at her. “So, still planning on rushing the front door?”
“If necessary.” Now he did turn to face her, disbelief and anger mingling there before he realized she was mostly joking. “I’d… What do you suggest?”
Atton hesitated, scanning her face closely. There was still a measure of guarded vulnerability behind her eyes, but the rest of her expression was open, inviting even. He sighed and looked away. “Nobody gets that much power in the Exchange without making a few enemies. More than a few of his own would probably jump at the chance to set him up. You just have to know where to look.”
Meetra tipped her head to the side, an eyebrow and one side of her mouth lifting in tandem. “And you know?”
Even under the corridor’s harsh lighting, her blue eyes sparkled when she smiled, and Atton had no defense against it. “Where you find every self-respecting criminal at this time of day.”

Do u think that IB would have gone off air even with the OG cast or do u actually think that it's the new cast that's not accepted?
I mean ofc, it would eventually HAVE to go off air, even with the original cast; every show has it’s ultimate endpoint. But in this case here it’s def. all the offscreen drama PLUS absolute weaksauce ONSCREEN bs that’s lead to its demise - the adla-badli of the female lead, all these random extras who don’t have 1/8th the charm of the originals, hero and his ‘kal ho naa ho’ issues, on top of all that, god knows what kinda offbrand IPK + the lowest rated track of the Redux (the fake murder) garbage they’re even serving up right now????
The show could have survived had the onscreen stuff been strong and compelling enough to draw audiences and overcome the fan backlash but they were dragging their feet even with the original cast. They should have just ended the show with dignity at the end of the redux (actually it should have ended in Nov 2017, but……….. Khair chodo.)

Awkward academics part 5724895102
I guess it is a testament to the analysis of [1] that drawing conclusions without any reference to base oneself on is a pretty dramatic intellectual liberty to take, one that computer scientists often are allowed because of a peculiar type of privilege they enjoy: the privilege deriving from the prestige of the discipline of machine learning and the financial promise of the systems they create.

How would the Universe change if we grew an extra dimension?
“Imagine what would happen if all-of-a-sudden, the forces binding electrons to nuclei became weaker. If there was a change in how strong that interaction was. You don’t think about it, but at a molecular level, the only thing holding you together is the relatively weak bonds between electrons and nuclei. If you change that force, you change the configurations of everything. Enzymes would denature; proteins would change shape; ligand-gated neurons wouldn’t fit together anymore; DNA wouldn’t encode the molecules it was designed to encode.”
If we take a look at a two-dimensional surface, it’s pretty apparent that we’re pretty omnipotent in comparison. We can draw or erase anything in that dimension, add or remove objects, rearrange their internal structures without leaving them any defense, etc. All of that might lead you to wonder whether there’s the possibility of a fourth spatial dimension out there, and whether that could be part of our Universe? Geometrically, it’s certainly possible. From a historical perspective, there’s no reason a dimension needs to stay the same size over time, either. In 1980, Alan Chodos and Steve Detweiler showed that a Universe that began with four spatial dimensions could have easily evolved into a Universe very much like the one we see today. Building on that, it would be possible for a very small extra dimension to grow large over time. If it did, the consequences would be devastating, but fascinating.
Come find out the full story of what it would mean if the Universe grew an extra dimension!

So, I was thinking about this post I made outlining Revan and the Jedi Exile’s experiences at the Jedi Academy, and then that got me to thinking about something else they share in common: Kreia.
According to TSL dialogue, Kreia was Revan’s first and last Jedi Master, and it was because of Kreia’s teachings that lead to her own exile (along with some other things if you buy into the whole Kreia is Arren Kae theory, which I do, but that’s beside the point). The Jedi claimed that it was her influence that led Revan down the path they ultimately chose - the path to war, the path to corruption, the path that so ideologically clashed with the political leanings of the Jedi Council at the time (which was largely influenced by a fear that what happened to Exar Kun and Ulic Qel-Droma would happen again, and in an essence, it did). In response, Kreia rejects the Jedi Code and defects to the Sith, soon taking over the remains of the empire that her own student, Revan, built.
I’m a bit cloudy on the timeline, and I’m not sure if it’s actually set in stone anywhere, but this is my understanding of it. Arren Kae info aside (Arren Kae had an affair with the Echani general, Yusanis, and had a child - Brianna/Handmaiden, and was later exiled for this indiscretion. Kreia was exiled for her role in Revan’s training, but if they are, in fact, the same person then both facts would have likely led to her exile from the Order), Kreia joins up with the Sith. Since Kreia was exiled some time after the Mandalorian Wars, around the time the actual Exile was, we can assume that she joined Revan’s specific faction of Sith. Regardless of whether this occurred before or after the events of kotor, I would imagine that Kreia would have had some influence over anyone else in the academy at Korriban (while it was still in use between Revan’s reign and Malak’s) and then again at Malachor. After all, she trained Revan, their “lord and savior”. I would also imagine that this prestige, along with her own resourcefulness and wit of course, is what helps her form the Sith Triumvirate after Malak’s fall. But Kreia does not seem to be interested in Revan’s plans, or Revan’s legacy. Kreia is interested in Force wounds, she’s interested in what the Force takes away. Considering her experiences with the Council, this interest is only natural. But post-war, Force wounds are synonymous with one thing: the Jedi Exile.
The wound and the echo surrounding the Exile is near legendary. It baffles the Council, but most of all, it terrifies them. It saddens Chodo Habat and even Atton can feel the echo, the sheer burden and the heavy sense of loss the Exile carries wherever they go. Kreia may have had a hand in Revan’s rash actions and in what Revan became, even in the Sith empire built and banished in their name - but because she taught Revan, perhaps she feels responsible for the Exile, too. After all, it was the war and what happened at Malachor, specifically, that led to the Exile becoming who and what they were in the aftermath - because of Revan. And it’s because of this that I think Kreia seeks the Exile out. Not just to destroy the Force or get back at the Council, but to justify everything that’s ever happened to her and every choice she has ever made. The Exile is her final hope at absolution, and though Kreia sees it as a means to an end, I sometimes see it as a quest for validation and that her guidance of the Exile is more meaningful than she would like to let on or even willingly believe herself.
Kreia may not have intended for Revan to make the choices they did in teaching them, but she absolutely wants to be certain of her influence in the Exile. She wants the Exile to want what she wants. The entire scene at the Jedi Enclave is proof of that. She wanted the Exile to desire the revenge she did, and she wanted to use the Exile to draw out the Sith so she could do the same to them - but it wasn’t just about bait. She wanted the Exile to see what she saw in the Council and in Sion and Nihilus. She wanted the Exile to agree with her, to see the hypocrisy on both sides and to harbor the same desire for annihilation as she did. Perhaps it was all because she felt responsible. That after being exiled for Revan’s actions, she began to take responsibility for those actions even if such claims were far-reaching at best.
Basically, what I’m getting at is that Kreia does not seem to have had any specific intentions regarding Revan’s tutelage, but she orchestrates her instruction of the Exile to the tee. Maybe, after everything, she has to believe that she is right through influence, through guidance. Despite all of Kreia’s subtle planning and subterfuge, she manipulates events through influence, a bit like Hannibal Lecter influencing his patients to commit murder and other atrocities. She guided Revan, yes, but she may not have had an End Game in mind when teaching them, and I honestly don’t think she had. Revan made the choices they did, and when it is seen as a byproduct of Kreia and her unconventional instruction by the Council is when she begins to consider the true power of her direct influence aside from pure wisdom, as any other Master, Jedi or Sith, might. But with Sion, Nihilus, Atris, and yes, the Exile, she absolutely has a goal in mind, she has an End to match her Means. She craves validation through her teaching, she wants her students to see the galaxy as she does, whatever her views happen to be at the time.
So, after all of that, my conclusion is this: where the Council saw Revan as powerful and influential, integral to the fate the galaxy and beyond, while fearing the Exile, dismissing their qualities and everything about them, Kreia did the opposite. Kreia does not seem particularly concerned about Revan in TSL, and that’s most likely because Revan has no place in her plan, but the Exile does. The Exile is everything. In Kreia’s eyes, the Exile is everything the Council never allowed them to be, and would never admit to. Where Revan is revered by the Council and the Exile scorned, Kreia holds the Exile in the highest regard, of the utmost importance. For the Exile, I think this is so tragic, but it’s tragic for Kreia as well. The Exile finally gets the recognition they deserve, their Force powers are finally explored, but they are also exploited. Kreia lies to get the Exile to heed her wisdom by claiming that their Force bond could potentially kill them, but she is the only one not to shy away from it. She openly accepts it, invites it, even, but she does so to meet her own ends.
I feel that no matter what, Kreia cares for the Exile more than she ever meant to, and that no matter how her plan unfolds or how it ends, it is too late for her to realize just how special the Exile really is until their final encounter, intentions aside. And damn I don’t think I’ll ever be over this game...

"Anuraggg" she screamed at top of her voice making him wake up with a jerk. He woke up and looked bewildered and observed Wall clock as clock hands read 12'o Clock and looking at his surrounding he realized it was mid-night and next to him was his crazy wife who was shouting his name. "Anuraggg" again she screamed drawing his attention towards her. "Prerna Prerna...kya hua, Chilla Kyun rahi ho aisa" "Mai Chilla rahi hoon Kya Anurag?" She asked keeping a puppy face "Hainnn????" was all he uttered looking at her face with a confused look "Awnnnuuu" she softly called his name with all love in a seductive way as she moved herself close to him and snuggled her head on his arms. Hmmm Prerna is all what he could say... " Suno na Anurag" she said as she started playing with his shirt button "Prernaaa" he said with a trembling voice "Anuuu I need it now" she said as she removed the first button of his shirt and started caressing his bare chest. "Prerna...raat ke 12 baj rahe hai...abhi matlab..." "Toh won't you fulfill my wish?" she asked making a cute Pout. "But Prerna..." "You Moron, You won't love me anymore" she shouted "Aisa Nahi hai Prerna" "Aisa hi hai...You don't love me anymore...because I have grown fat and all this is because of youuu..." She screamed as she pointed at her 6 mnths belly. "Meri Maa Chillana matt, please give me 5 mins" "You are just too cute Anurag...I will be waiting for you..." She said as she pecked his lips softly. "Prerna control Karo, I will be back" he said as he moved out of his room... "Awnnnuuu...I need Chocolate Flavor" She said before he left room ******************************** As he didn't reach room yet, she went downstairs in search of her husband and she spotted him having Water from fridge. "Anuraggg" Suddenly he turned in the direction of that angry voice as the cap of bottle dropped from his hand. "I am waiting for you from a long time aur tum yahan paani pee rahe ho?" "Prerna mai ab paani bhi nahi pee sakta kya" he asked her widening his eyes "Tumhe sirf apni padi hai...what abt me...You don't think abt me anymore" she started her usual drama "Arey aisa kuch nahi hai prerna...tu please rona matt..." He said She suddenly barged towards kitchen and settled herself on the kitchen slab. "Prerna kya kar rahi ho... neeche utro" He said " Nahi...I won't " "Prerna...Pagalon ki tarah baatein matt karo...Just get down" "Haan tumhe mai Pagal hi lagti hoon ab" she said in dramatic tone as she started crying but there were no tears flowing from her eyes (Such a drama queen prerna is) "She and her drama...upon that her Hormonal imbalance, all this will end me up in a mental asylum...hey bhagwaan iss paagal aurat se bachao mujhe..." he murmured under his breath "Kuch kaha tumne?" she asked angrily "Nahi nahi Prerna...actually mai woh bas kamre mai aahi raha tha" he said "Nahi kamre main nahi...yahan abhi aise" she said "What? Are you mad" he asked her questioningly "Yes here ...I want it here" did you understand Anurag, common give it to me... "Prerna...neeche utro, if someone look at us like this it won't be good baby...chalo kamre mai chalte hai...sab utjaayenge nahi toh" "Mujhe nahi pata, I want it here matlab here...aise matlab aise...tum mere liye itna bhi nahi karsakte..." She asked him. Upon no response she continued "Hey bhagwaaannn kaisa pati hai ye...11th Std mai propose kiya, 10 saal tak pyaar kiya ,pyaar karke shaadi kiya, aur ye paagal toh ab mujhse pyaar hi nahi karta, humare 10 saal ka pyaar ko side mai rakh kar ye yaha kade hoke paani pee raha hai " "Prerna aisa nahi hai...suno toh" he tried to explain her holding her hands "Chodo mujhe" She pushed his hands away as she continued upar se shaadi ke 3 saal mai mera ye haalat kar diya isne, mai iski wajah se aise moti hogayi hoon aur ye apne khud ke duniya mai udd raha hai, iske bacche mere pet me football khelte hai aur ye mere dimaag se volleyball khelta hai... ye insaan toh mera chotu sa wish bhi poora nahi karsakta, Bhagwanji kaisa pati diya aapne mujhe, thoda sa toh taras khaate apni iss bacchi pe, Socha tha Ram jaise pati paayaa hai maine par ye toh raavan nikla... " she cried in her usual melodramatic way All this while he was just looking at her with a shocked expression as he said "Prerna...baby please listen to me" "Don't baby me...You listen to me I want it basss...samjhe tum" she cut him in-between and turned towards the opposite side He could not deny more and had to agree to her wishes. He knew he cannot win against her, he can't even go against her. He for sure knew she would make him agree to whatever she wants and he would dance on her tunes, of course that is what was happening from last 20 yrs. They have been best friends since 5th standard when Prerna's Family had Shifted to Kolkota and her father was a family friend to Basu's and a Loyal employee. He had proposed her when they were studying in 11th std and when both were well settled in their career they got married. He was a contented man today, as he was a successful businessman with a happy family and he was soon going to be a father of twin kids, but his love... his Prerna was driving him crazy from the time they met, but her craziness reached the point of no return when she became pregnant. He was having a hard time balancing her hormonal imbalance, her cravings, her craziness, her cuteness, her bubbliness was making him insane day by day as he fell in love with her again and again with the each and every passing moment. Managing his Prerna was a difficult task for him than managing his 10000+ employees but all thanks to Nivi di and his dad for helping him handling business in his absence as Anurag's top priority was Prerna. **************************************** He still remembered the day she had revealed abt her Pregnancy... It was his bday and she had prepared few cupcakes for him. As he had his favorite cupcake, the msg underneath read "Now a days all I feel is nauseous and the reason behind this is none other than you" He was a bit confused "Now a days all I feel is to barf and I am not gonna blame you though it is your fault" Prerna kya bolna chahti hai Ho? asked her... "Aage pado na...Anurag" she said "Ok" he said as he continued reading "From now on whatever you bring for me, bring it for other 2 as well..." "Ye other 2 kaun hai Prerna ?" he asked... "Anurag...Just read it know" she said He continued reading ..."Still didn't understand this riddle Awwwnuuu, shonu Monu...? "Don't call me that he gave an angry stare "Just shut up and read she said in an irritating tone He continued reading "However I know you are weak in maths...Try to solve this... Me+You = Four The solution would surely answer this riddle" "hehehehe...very funny...Solution answer hai...hawww mujhe pata nahi tha..." he said as he could not solve the riddle "Anuragrag" "Phir kya? Arey ye kaisa riddle hai? Kuch samaj nahi aaraha" he stated "Buddhu ke buddhu hi rahoge tum" she stated as she moved to their room He again looked at the message and read it one flow, that is when he realized, her nausea, barf all indicated to her pregnancy but me+her is 4 how...Is she carrying twins? He thought as he felt happy and moved towards their room. "Prerna are you serious? I mean twins..." Is all what he uttered She smiled as a blush crept her cheeks and she nodded her head positively. He embraced her in his arms and hugged her tightly uttering sweet nothings which surely flipped her heart. After few moments he said "Finally maine tumhara wish pura kar diya prerna...you wanted twins...pata hai kitna mehenat laga" "Anuraaaggg...Shut up" she softly yelled his name slightly hitting his arms as blood rushed to her face turning her cheeks into beet-red... ******************************************** "Anurag...you stupid fellaw I am waiting for you from that time and what are you doing? Are you thinking abt Komolika" she shouted "Komolika...woh kaun hai Prerna?" "Woh teri nayi PA" "Arey nahi nahi I was thinking abt your pregnancy" "Kya?" She asked confused "Arey chodo...why were you asking abt Komolika and why will I think abt her?" he questioned her "Because I have grown fat and you don't love me anymore isliye dekho mujhse bhaag rahe ho...tab se wait kar rahi hoon tera par tum toh..." "Maaf karde...I am sorry...mera zindagi ka sirf ek hi pyaar hai aur who tum ho...but yahan aise kitchen mai..ye slab pe...acha nahi lagega...neeche utro please" "Nahi matlab nahi...agar tum mujhse pyaar karte ho...toh...yahi matlab yahi" "Par Prerna" "Maine Bola na" "Acha theek hai...but Prerna, Jaldi karna ok? Then we will go to our room fine?" he said "You know me right Anurag...I am sooper fast" she replied. With a scary look in his eyes, he looked around to ensure, no one was around and slowly went near his wife. She held him by shoulders and she made him stand in front of her "Prerna...kar kya rahi ho" "If you stand there, I can't see you Anurag, this angle looks good" she said "Oh god...jo bhi ho...jaldi karo" he muttered "Jaldi Nikaalona Anurag" "Arey 2 minute ruko toh sahi, have patience" "I can't control myself more Anurag, Jaldi karona please" "Atak gaya hai prerna" "Idiot humesha aise hi karte ho" "Haan finally, nikalgaya...ye lo" he said with a brimming smile on his face "Awww...this looks so yummy..." She said looking at what she wanted. Happily and with a wide smile on her face, she just scooped her favorite thing in her mouth and as its taste spread on her tongue, she started moaning..."Hmmm this is so yummy..." "Prerna...Jaldi karo...koi aajayega" "You don't let me enjoy Anurag, have patience baby...hmmm this is heavenly" she was in her own world "Arey sab aajayenge, doctor ne mana kiya tha na" "Mai humesha thodi maangti hoon...ek mahina hogya Anurag" "Isliye toh maana maine...ab jaldi karo prerna" "Haan bas hogya 2 mins..." She said * * * "That was so yummy Anurag....you are the best Pati in the world...I just love you, I know ab for next one whole month I have to wait...but Anurag can I get Karela flavor next time?" "Karela Kyun?" he asked out of shock "Karela bcoz I like it" she said cutely "I don't want my kids to have karela and become a Karela like you" "Anurag that is not fair" she made a puppy face "Everything is fair...ye ice cream dena hi bahut tha tereliye, usme isko Karela Flavour chahiye...meri maa aur teri maa ko pata chala na mujhe maar dalenge" "Anurag you know I love ice cream, even doctor said I can have it at times, I was craving for ice cream from such a long time, ek mahina hogya tha Anurag..." "At times nahi bewakoof...once in blue moon kaha tha...and Isliye I bought that chocolate and vanilla ice cream for you at evening and plastic box mai daalke, fridge mai chupadiya so that mumma won't come to know...and itna kiya maine tere liye, par tum toh chillane lag gayi, when I could not open the lid of box, woh dhakkan toh atak gaya tha aur tum sirf chillati rahi mujhpe" he said faking his anger and turned towards other side "Awww...my baby" "don't baby me...Upar se you didn't even share Ice-Cream with me, tum bachpan se aise hi ho" he complained "Awww...awwwnnuuu my shonuu " she slightly pulled his cheeks "Don't baby me Prerna" "Awww...my Pumpkin" "I am not, you stop it" "Gussa mat hona...Acha suno... Ice cream nahi toh sahi kuch aur doon?" she asked him naughtily His ears became straight listening to her words and as he turned towards her, she just pressed her lips hardly against his lips. The slow passionate kiss which she had initiated had now turned into a vigorous one as both of them were fighting to dominate each other. As they cherished each other's flavors, he said "This is the best way to eat Ice-cream prerna, I love it, and this is the best Ice-cream I ever had"...he addedwith a smirk "Ye kamra nahi hai humara behave Anurag, You can continue having it in our room and no one will stop you there, but kitchen slab pe baitke ye sab theek nahi hai...log kya sochenge...haaawww" she said with a naughty smirk "Anurag Basu logon ke baarein main nahi sochta...aur apna kaam bhi aadha adhura nahi chodta...baaki ke kaam kamre mai finish kare ?" he said winking at her She laughed at her crazy husband and opened her arms. Taking her this act as a yes from his wife, he just embraced her and lifted her in his arms making way towards their room to complete his aadha adhura work... -Ranju-

A federal judge ordered Glafira Rosales to pay $81 million in restitution to the victims of the Knoedler Gallery art forgery. The art dealer — the only person who was detained in connection with the scandal — pled guilty to charges of wire fraud, money laundering, and tax evasion in 2013.
Art investigator Arthur Brand stated that he is “100 percent sure” that the works stolen from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in 1990 are in Ireland. “We have had talks with … former members of the IRA — and after a few Guinnesses, after a few talks — you can see in their eyes that they know more,” Brand told CBS News. The Museum dismissed Brand’s claims, stating that his leads are “not new.”
An album of 25 landscape drawings in the Royal Collection were re-attributed to Thomas Gainsborough after scholar Lindsay Stainton confirmed that one of the drawings is a squared-up study of the artist’s 1748 painting, “Cornard Wood.”
Over 500 individuals and organizations backed “Our Shared European Future,” a list of post-Brexit recommendations published by the British Council. The document, which is endorsed by museums including the Tate, British Museum, and the Victoria & Albert Museum, includes recommendations on travel and working rights.

South African filmmaker Sibahle Nkumbi was shoved down a flight of stairs by the husband of an Airbnb host in Amsterdam in what was allegedly a racially motivated attack. Nkumbi’s unnamed assailant has been charged with attempted manslaughter according to Huffington Post South Africa.
A report commissioned by the board of San Francisco’s Mexican Museum concluded that only 83 of the 2,000 objects in its collection could be authenticated and classed as “museum quality.”
Charles Saatchi began a weekly column at The Telegraph.
Visitors who wish to attend David Choe‘s newest installation, The Choe Show, will be selected for tickets only after completing an online application form comprised of personal questions. The artist’s mural on the corner of Houston Street and Bowery on Manhattan’s Lower East Side was defaced multiple times and eventually whitewashed last month. In one instance, an unknown person/persons scrawled “rapist,” a reference to a 2014 podcast in which Choe claimed to have sexually assaulted a masseuse, an event he later described as a fabrication.
Jay Z unveiled the music video for “4:44,” the title track on his new eponymous album. The video is directed by artist Arthur Jafa and his production partner, Elissa Blount-Moorhead.
