Her knee was bouncing at the speed of light and she was certain her heart was going even faster.

Fuck this can't be.

Her breath was caught in her throat, like she was choking herself, like she was drowning out of water.

Mori was droning on about some new information pertinent to an upcoming mission, some small-time gang is what the boss had called them... but she knew, looking at the photo before her that this was no such thing.

Gods she was shaking now, tears threatening to fall as pure panic swelled in her chest.

She couldn't breathe, fuck why wasn't she breathing.

It was Elise's voice that startled her out of her haze filled mind.

"Chiyo?" The girl's hands were gripping her own tight... and Mori of all people was kneeling beside her.

"The fuck Higuchi?" She heard Tachihara mutter. She didn't even have the energy to glare at him.

"Deep breaths in counting to four, hold for four and breathe out for four then hold again for four." Mori brought her back again, his eyes only showing a doctor's concern. "I should have told you earlier..."

She breathed, letting cool oxygen fill her lungs as she began to slump against the chair.

"What happened?" Ozaki was leaning over Elise. "Ichiyo do you want to tell us?"

"She should." Akutagawa snapped. Ozaki levelled a glare his way for her.

"Only if she wants to, panic attacks are not so simple." Ozaki explained. "What triggered you dear?"

"Photo." She rasped out. "Him."

It was Chuuya who surprised her next, his ability pulling the briefing away from her and across the table to look at the image as though he hadn't before (and in his defence this meeting was the first he'd heard of said small-time gang).

"Have you met him before? Has he hurt you in any way?" Fair questions to ask she supposed... and then he read out the name. "Noriyoshi Hi..."

He paused and his eyes shot back to her. She only slumped further into the chair.

"I thought he'd never come back." Her breath quickened again. "He's going to find us, he'll kill us... he'll make me watch as he kills her."

"What is his surname Nakahara?" Hirotsu questioned and without taking his eyes off of her he answered.

"Higuchi."

All eyes were on her now, even Akutagawa had been stunned into silence.

"Who is he to you?" Hirotsu said softly.

"The reason I'm here, the reason I can't leave the mafia. If I leave, if he finds me or Kuniko and we don't have protection from Mori... we're dead or worse he'll make us into mindless tools." She was hyperventilating again, only slowed back by Elise's cool hands on hers and Ozaki's fingers combing in her hair.

"He's just a small-time gang leader." Tachihara meant well, meaning to sound encouraging. She shook her head.

"No... he's a clan leader and we are..."

"We are what?" Akutagawa pressed, Gin tugging on his jacket to keep him still.

"My father isn't someone to fuck with." She snapped. "I did enough of that when I took Kuniko and ran away. I couldn't take it anymore. They were going to force an ability onto her they... they were going to brainwash me and make me use my ability whenever they wanted..."

She ripped her hands away from Elise, slamming them over her mouth as a sob escaped.

"Do you know what it's like to have your mind and ability under someone else's control?" She stood, stumbling back some steps. "I-I can't be a part of this mission Mori... I need to go home... I need to get Kuniko and hide until whatever you are doing is over.... I can't do this."

She bolted and not one of them chased after her.

"Hold up." Tachihara said, still stunned after Higuchi had bolted from the room. "Higuchi has an ability?"

"BanG Dream!" Idol Band Pastel＊Palettes' Anime Short "Pastel Life" Starts Airing Today

Pastel Life is a new short anime series featuring five-member girl idol band Pastel＊Palettes, who appear in Bushiroad's popular smartphone game BanG Dream! Girls Band Party! The slice-of-life "yurufuwa" show is confirmed to start airing in the game's PR variety show "BanG Dream! TV" today on May 17.
