Naming your OC dolores and nicknaming her lolita is utterly disgusting. Lolita was a twisted disgusted persona created by the pedo in the book for the little child Dolores so let's not romanticise this shit

excuse me what🧍 nicknaming a character lolita does not directly tie her into romantising pedophilia like??? 😭

like literally I just stated that one of her nicknames would be lolita and nothing more, I didn't even go into detail like there's only "nicknames: lola, lolita" in the smallest font size ever 😥

AND ALSO in which part of my oc file did I romantice her?? like I don't mean for her to have any kind of romantic relationship and much less with any of the adults so like.. this is completely uncalled for 😬 In spain, where I live, it's really common to nickname a girl who's named dolores lolita and it's never been a direct reference to a pedophilic book??? There are a whole lot of other characters in different books and movies, and ocs too, that are named dolores and nicknamed lolita.

If it's a trigger for you or something simply do not read anything about my oc, but she's definetely not nicknamed lolita because of the book. Which, let's remember, doesn't romantize pedophilia but portrays it in a way that definetely remarks that it's wrong and unethical.

And, to come and say this to me on anon it's a cowardly move, but I won't judge. There is literally a song I picked her name out of, and it's from a spanish band and it has nothing to do with pedophilia.

Oh i met a really big cat today

#mine #i was at a museum (in a castle) and he was just chilling in the courtyard #and later he came to the museum café (the owener opened the door for him)#and no i dont know his name. i asked but he doesnt belong there technically he just likes to hang out there haha #he seemed very big and other visitors mentioned it too but i might be biased cause my cat is very smol so he mightve looked bigger compared #but he seemed lorge #not fat but very big and also super fluufy

Girlies, we've made it

#ya gurl made it to helsinki :)#thus far i've just been incredibly stressed out but after a few good hours of sleep i think i'll be ready to take on this holiday #this trip has been my lifeline for literallllly 6 months #first time flying and staying in a foreign country on my own #i've been up since 3:30 and just had 4 shots of espresso in a really cute french café #also flat whites with coconut milk SLAP #the main train station kinda stressed me out #but it's a lot more chill around these parts so it's fine :)#will probs take a small walk in a couple of hours #also the guy at airport security in Berlin was so nice to me???#i think he thought i was having a panic attack which i almost did have but i didn't think it was that obvious haha #tried to do some class work in the café but BOY my brain is not in the mood for that today #but also what kind of task is 'write down questions you have about academic writing'#ma'am this is my 6th semester #off to a nap now #catch ya later nerds ( affectionately)

OK but for real real? I was raised by a evangelical mother and a catholic father and I can 100% tell you that compared to evangelicals catholics enjoy life more.

#netherlands is split into protestant north and catholic south #(civil war like 400 years ago we're chill now)#anyway. northern attitudes are FAMOUSLY sober and a little distant and cold while the south?#people are WARM the food is BETTER the beer flows more the café terraces are full we celebrate carnaval #(okay this sounds like im dunking on the northerners when they are in fact lovely)#but there IS a difference and it stems from catholic vs protestant

A common problem writers face is "white room syndrome"—when scenes feel like they’re happening in an empty white room. To avoid this, it's important to describe settings in a way that makes them feel real and alive, without overloading readers with too much detail. Here are a few tips below to help!

Focus on a few key details

You don’t need to describe everything in the scene—just pick a couple of specific, memorable details to bring the setting to life. Maybe it’s the creaky floorboards in an old house, the musty smell of a forgotten attic, or the soft hum of a refrigerator in a small kitchen. These little details help anchor the scene and give readers something to picture, without dragging the action with heaps of descriptions.

Engage the senses

Instead of just focusing on what characters can see, try to incorporate all five senses—what do they hear, smell, feel, or even taste? Describe the smell of fresh bread from a nearby bakery, or the damp chill of a foggy morning. This adds a lot of depth and make the location feel more real and imaginable.

Mix descriptions with actions

Have characters interact with the environment. How do your characters move through the space? Are they brushing their hands over a dusty bookshelf, shuffling through fallen leaves, or squeezing through a crowded subway car? Instead of dumping a paragraph of description, mix it in with the action or dialogue.

Use the setting to reflect a mood or theme

Sometimes, the setting can do more than just provide a backdrop—it can reinforce the mood of a scene or even reflect a theme in the story. A stormy night might enhance tension, while a warm, sunny day might highlight a moment of peace. The environment can add an extra layer to what’s happening symbolically.

Here's an example of writing a description that hopefully feels alive and realistic, without dragging the action:

The bookstore was tucked between two brick buildings, its faded sign creaking with every gust of wind. Inside, the air was thick with the scent of worn paper and dust, mingling with the faint aroma of freshly brewed coffee from a corner café down the street. The wooden floorboards groaned as Ella wandered between the shelves, her fingertips brushing the spines of forgotten novels. Somewhere in the back, the soft sound of jazz crackled from an ancient radio.
