To quickly note, I received this for free from Wishtrend for my honest review.

This sunscreen contains 50 grams (1.76 oz) and is fragrance-free.

The sunscreen does have a similar appearance to mineral sunscreens at first look. It's thick but not overwhelmingly so.

It does however blend out like a moisturizer and I didn't notice any streakiness. It does have a very sunscreen-y scent but it doesn't stick around for long.

It's extremely hydrating and moisturizing, it plumps the skin and doesn't feel super tacky or look greasy.

It does brighten some under flash, but it's not a major problem as it's a chemical sunscreen, if you have medium to dark skin, probably avoid this one.

It sits extremely well under makeup and it's a very hydrating base, I'd say you could skip other moisturizers and just use this or you have very very dry skin.

Recommended use is to apply the cream over the face at the last step of your daily skincare. This sunscreen is cruelty-free, pH-balanced, and free of artificial coloring, fragrances, and ethanol and vegan. After using, so to note this does have kind of a typical sunscreen scent but it's not overwhelming and does dissipate pretty quickly; in addition to that, there are no notable irritants in the ingredients. The sunscreen sits nicely on the skin and doesn't pill or bunch up under makeup. It absorbs into the skin and is very hydrating, I think this makes a great moisturizer on its own. I did find this would irritate my eyes, however, so I had to be cautious about that. This also is pretty light so it could or could not be an issue on tan to dark skin. This sunscreen comes with a pump dispenser, the only nitpick I guess that I have is that I prefer to do the 2 finger method and it's usually easier to do with a squeeze tube. It also is not a great option for throwing in a bag as it's not the smallest container. I'd recommend this to anyone really, I find that it's gentle and moisturizing.

What I like: I enjoyed how hydrating and moisturizing this product is. It's great under makeup and it absorbs very nicely. It's very gentle and free of fragrance and irritants. What I don't like: I have no issues with this.

LAGOM Cellus Sun Gel SPF 50 PA+++ Review

Wanting to try out new sunscreens is one of my favourite things when buying skincare, and Korean skincare is unmatched when it comes to sunscreens. Their advanced screening technology with new ingredients makes them, in my opinion, way ahead of the western market. So as I was browsing Skinsider, one of my favourite K-beauty stores, I came across this sun gel. I took one at the glowing reviews and added it to my basket immediately. 

On the Skinsider website, this sunscreen is described as:

Providing “maximum UVB and UVA protection.”

Being “great for oily and combination skin types.”

“The incredibly lightweight texture provides matte finish and is very easy to apply. Your skin will absorb it immediately.” 

“In addition, normal and dry skin types will enjoy it because Lagom Cellus Sun Gel SPF50 PA+++ nourishes skin with its natural herbal extracts and oils plus hydrating Aqualicia formula. The sun gel soothes and protects the skin. It prevents the ingredients from evaporation and destruction. Hence, moisture and active ingredients can be absorbed deep into the skin.”

Okay, let’s get into this!

The texture isn’t like a ‘typical’ sunscreen, it feels more like a lightweight, somewhat thin daytime moisturiser which is perfect for those with oily/combination skin types. There is a slightly strong citrus type scent to it due to it containing essential oils, but I’ll get to that soon.

My thoughts:

I’ve tried a lot of sunscreens and I always seem to come back to my trusty COSRX Aloe Soothing Sun Cream SPF 50 PA+++, but this LAGOM sun gel doesn’t have me reaching for my usual one anymore which is a nice surprise! The consistency feels more like a milky essence which I love because when I reapply it throughout the day, it doesn’t feel like it starts pilling up like it does when I reapply other sunscreens I use. This absorbs into my skin effortlessly, it does not leave a white cast and gives me a lovely glow with a satin-like finish, as opposed to the matte finish the description says it gives. It also gives me a really nice base for when I want to apply makeup over the top. However, after applying SPF I like to wait around 5 minutes before applying makeup to just ensure that the SPF has created an effective protective ‘shield’ over the places I’ve applied it to.

NOTE: SPF 50 PA+++ is the highest protection rating a sunscreen can have. As someone who suffers from hyperpigmentation, I don’t use sunscreens with anything lower than this as I want to protect my skin the best I can and get rid of my dark marks faster. Also, I apply (and reapply) quite a lot to keep up its effectiveness against UVA and UVB rays. I follow Jude Chao’s technique (IG: fiddysnails) of ‘measuring’ it on your 3 middle fingers (shown below) and then applying it across the face, neck and chest. 

In her video she uses a cream puff to blend it into her skin which is a really good technique, and I have tried this technique a few times with sunscreens that are on the thicker side. However, for the majority of the sunscreens I use, including the LAGOM sun gel, I find that it’s light enough to blend in without the need for a puff. 

This sunscreen has found its permanent place on my vanity table and will definitely be purchasing more than one when my current one runs out (which I’m sure will be fairly soon!). However, my only caveat with it is that it contains essential oils and alcohol, which may be a concern to those with sensitive skin. I would say that I also have quite reactive skin so I usually tend to stay away from products that contain alcohol and fragrance/essential oils, but I was pleasantly surprised! I did a patch test (always remember to patch test a product behind your ear when trying something new!!) and I had no adverse reaction to it and my skin has been okay with it since I started using it regularly.

EDIT: there have been studies conducted that demonstrate that denatured alcohol (ethanol) in skincare products doesn't actually damage your skin as previously thought. This is due to the small percentage that is used within skincare products and has been demonstrated that at least 97% of the ethanol in the product evaporates upon application. If you want to know more, Lab muffin did a really informative video and blog post about this!

So for now, this sunscreen is a 9/10 in my eyes but if LAGOM decided to reformulate it to have the same feel but without the essential oils, I wouldn’t hesitate to give it 10/10!

Anyway, after 20 minutes my face felt very soft, less red and glowing. Tartaric Acid: A naturally-occurring crystalline organic acid found in many plants, including grapes and tamarinds. It is one of the chief acids in wine. Tartaric acid has antioxidant properties and is an alpha hydroxy acid.

Lactic Acid: Helps to control the pH of finished cosmetic products

Salicylic Acid: Also called beta hydroxy acid (BHA). Its primary benefit is as an exfoliant, helping shed dead skin in a way similar to how skin acts when we are younger. Symphytum Officinale (Comfrey) Leaf Extract: Topical application of comfrey has skin-soothing properties, but it is recommended only for short-term use and only then if you can be sure the amount of pyrrolizidine alkaloids is less than 100 micrograms per application. The alkaloid content means it has the potential to aggravate skin.

Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Extract: The extract from the flowers of the plant; has calming and soothing properties. 

Peg-12 Dimethicone: A silicone-based polymer used to give formulas a smooth feel, promote spreadability, and add lubrication. 

Caprylyl Glycol: Skin and hair conditioning agent that may be plant-derived or synthetic. Often used as part of a preservative blend in cosmetics. 

Sodium Hydroxide: An inorganic compound used to control the pH levels or serve as a buffering agent. Has the ability to dissolve grease, oils, fats and protein based deposits. Considered a strong irritant.

Butylene Glycol: Commonly-used ingredient that has multiple functions in cosmetics, including as a texture enhancer. It’s similar to propylene glycol, but has a lighter texture.

Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil: Skin conditioning properties to help soothe dry.

Hectorite: A type of clay used in cosmetics that enhances texture by imparting a smooth, silky feel.

Hexylene Glycol: A preservative and solvent and viscosity agent. It is used to thin out heavy compositions and create a thinner, more spreadable product. It may be irritating to some skin types. 

Glycerin: An emollient and humectant derived from vegetable oils that helps skin retain moisture.

Calendula Officinalis Extract: Extracted from the flower of the plant; contains carotenoids and saponin. Used for its soothing and hydrating properties. 

Maltodextrin: A binding agent. May increase anti-aging properties of other ingredients when used in combination with them. It also serves as a film former and suspending agent.

Ethylhexylglycerin: A synthetic skin-softening agent also used as a preservative, a carrier, or suspending agent for other preservatives such as phenoxyethanol.

Xanthan Gum: Natural ingredient used as a thickening agent, texture enhancer, and to stabilize emulsions, which is a general term for mixtures of unlike substances such as oil and water.

Fragrance (Parfum): One or a blend of volatile and/or fragrant plant oils (or synthetically derived oils) that impart aroma and odor to products. These are often skin sensitizers because they are composed of hundreds of individual chemical components. Fragrance is a leading source of sensitivity to cosmetics.

Limonene: Colorless liquid with a light, fresh, and sweet citrus odor used to make fragrances and flavors. It is naturally occurring substance found in many citrus fruits. 

Benzyl Benzoate: A clear, colorless liquid with a pleasant aroma. Mainly used as a fragrance ingredient and solvent (helps other ingredients dissolve into a solution).

Linalool: Fragrant component of lavender and coriander that can be a potent skin sensitizer. Colorless liquid with a soft, sweet odor. 

Phenoxyethanol: A glycol ether and bactericide (that functions as a disinfectant, antiseptic or antibiotic) that is primarily used as a preservative. It is also seen as a fragrance additive.

Potassium Sorbate: Used as a preservative, almost always used in conjunction with other preservatives.

Sodium Benzoate: A preservative.

Iron Oxides: Natural oxides of iron (iron combined with oxygen); pigments are used to enhance colors in cosmetics.

Pyruvic Acid: Used as a medium chemical peeling agent in subjects with inflammatory acne, moderate acne scars, greasy skin, actinic keratosis, and warts.

My Thoughts: Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment is pretty amazing. It comes in a sample size squeeze tube. I love that I can buy it in 3 different sizes. I was given a sample size from my sister in law. Its a white squeeze tube with sliver lettering. The only drawback with the packaging is that towards the end of its life it was hard to squeeze the product out. I finally cut it open to use the rest of it and I found there was still a lot of product left that should have been able to squeeze out.

Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment when wet its a charcoal grey color with a mud texture. I apply with a brush and put a good even thin layer on. It does have a nice cooling sensation with  eucalyptus and mint scent. I leave it on until it hardens which is about 10 minuties. I can tell when its harden not only by feel, but the look since the mask turns a light grey and around my pores these tiny dots start to form.

Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment is easy to remove with water, the mud doesn’t stick to my skin it just slides right off. If I put a thick layer on it is harder to wash off. My face immediately feels clean and fresh. It pulls all the gunk and oil from my pores on the first use.

Would I purchase Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment? I am still on the fence, if I did it would be at the lowest price point one they have. The only reason I am on the fence is my sister in law uses a similar mask already (thats why she gave me Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment in the first place). She uses a mixture of the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay with Apple Cider Vinegar which is a lot cheaper and works just as great as Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment.

The mask contains 20 ml (0.67 oz) and it does contain fragrance.

The mask is made with 100% cotton and is designed to be “featherlight” and adhere to the contours of your face for optimal absorption. There’s lots of essence and the mask is saturated. The mask was a really good fit for me.

Recommended use is after cleansing, use toner to refine skin texture. Place mask on face according to contour avoiding the eye and lip area. Leave on for 10-20 minutes and then pat the remaining essence into the skin for better absorption. After using, the first thing to note, it seems that the Skin Solution and Skin Clinic masks are the same product, so in the future, I'll be referring to them interchangeably. It's also important to point out, this mask does have artificial and natural fragrances. Apart from that, however, the fragrance wasn't terrible or overwhelming. The mask is really designed to hydrate and moisturize the skin as well as nourish it. I found this mask to be pretty effective, it was moisturizing and didn't irritate my skin at all. Despite the scent, I do think this would be suitable for most skin types and I thought this mask was more effective than more expensive alternatives. I'd recommend this to anyone with a need to improve their moisture barrier and nourish the skin.

What I like: I really liked how moisturizing and nourishing this mask was and how plump it left my skin after use. I like the ingredients and find most of them to be pretty good for any skin type. What I don't like: this mask does contain fragrance and it's getting harder to find this mask as well. Fragrance is the main/only irritant listed.

HOW TO USE

1. Remove from pouch and gently unfold mask. 2. Apply mask on face and align it around eyes and mouth. 3. Once positioned, remove the protective mesh layer. 4. Wait for 15-20 minutes and remove cellulose sheet mask. 5. Gently pat essence until fully absorbed into skin. No need to rinse
