Ok for context

@chickthiccs and I were coming up with the hc that Mater is actually only half siblings with Mato. Same dad, different moms as the result of an affair. Of course Mater growing up didn't know that, but his 'mom' definitely knew, so she started treating Mater differently from Mato. And it eventually trickled down to Mato, too, and sparked their competitive streak.

Mater gets fed up with everything and runs away to his cousins in the south when he's 13, joins the rust bucket gang in the comics, and gets pseudo-adopted by Sheriff as a teen like in the comics too.

And of course Mater tells Lightning all this kinda lighthearted after the wedding in COTR who's just like 'we've known each other for 15 years and you're just NOW telling me this???'

I love the idea of Doc being so fatherly towards Lightning. Like not even just being a part of the pit crew, all of RS became for Lightning, but literally being a father.

Someone mentioned Doc having to pull Lightning out of bed every morning, and HE WOULD! you're telling me this man is a morning person? never. he gets up at 3 pm SHARP.

I can see Doc waking Lightning up like in those cliche movies. He opens the blinds and yanks the covers off him. "Rise and shine, Mcqueen! we got training today!" All cheery and Lightning just groans and rolls over, trying to go back to sleep.

I can see during the off season Lightning and Doc just having this father-son relationship like no one else, and Doc even adopts Mater into the family dynamic at one point bc that's Lightning's beat friend and they already act like brothers anyway.

During off-season, while there is training, Doc isn't as harsh. Instead, he's sweeter and a little more gentle. It's only when racing season picks back up that he gets a bit harsher on our boy, and Lightning hates it, but he knows Doc does it out of love.

When they're not training, they're hanging out at Doc's place or maybe Flo's. Doc has to rally Lightning like he's a 3 year old because he gets so caught up in everything and starts getting so excited he can't contain himself.

They get on one another's nerves all the time, but that's because they love each other like their blood, and everyone knows it. They wouldn't have it any other way, especially when they keep each other busy and in check.

I just finished Cars on The Road and it was so cute! thoughts below in no particular order

Mater and McQueen’s friendship is so wholesome

I noticed how McQueen sticks really close to Mater and the way he just seems so happy/at ease around him shows how much he enjoys his company (Mater was his first like real friend so it makes sense)

McQueen is so silly

Mack totally put on the Dino documentary for Lightning during that flashback and McQueen was probably all like “Mack that’s lame” but he was glued to the screen just five minutes in

“They never have my name” I wonder why Lightning

But also real

The whole Trucks episode was really fun and had a sweet ending

Mater being embraced by other trucks he’s so valid

Ivy was adorable

Me every episode: poor McQueen, he’s just little

I wanted to see them go to New Orleans 😭

The tire maze joke is one of the funniest things ever

B-Movie felt like a big reference to Mater’s Tall Tales and I’m here for it

“Points for the pageantry” life is a highway? McQueen said life is a runway

nothing overall changed with how the characters were designed (outside of mcqueen’s outfit, eyes, and hair shape and mater’s height). subconsciously made them do extremely similar poses but i finished these at around the crack of 6am and i did not want to redraw mater again lmao

Cars Fandom reunite!!!

To write or not to write? That is the question

So after a long time of disappearing from the Pixar Cars fandom I finally came back and I've been watching all 3 movies and Cars on The Road repeatedly. I just missed it all so much. I started interacting with the fandom again and it made me realise how much I also miss writing fanfics. I really wanted to go back to writing fanfics, but I'm not sure many people would read it seeing as not many people are active anymore. But the few people active here on Tumblr give me hope.

So please help me: should I write my fanfic and see how it goes or should I just let it go??

rewatching cars on the road after like a year i love this show sm it’s so fun and wholesome 💔

i know having mater on screen for too long can get pretty overwhelming but i just love seeing him and lightning interact in this show. like they really feel like best friends here, they banter, get into stupid squabbles and they just understand and love each other so much.

i also keep thinking about their video call in cars 3, like just the whole idea of mcqueen being able to call mater at an ungodly hour at night and get an immediate response. that is SUCH a best friend thing. like i just love how their friendship evolves from joking around and partaking in shenanigans to them being able to really trust and count on one another.
