#Carmen T letting Rachel back into NYADA may have been the biggest WTF in Rachel's entire canon storyline

Truly, it takes a unique level of negative talent writing to write a character’s journey so badly that even many of her most ardent stans were pissed off that Rachel got all the wins, usually at her friends’ expense.  I know a couple of people in real life who really loved Rachel Berry at first but became increasingly pissed off by her ‘I want it, therefore I get it’ storyline. They wanted to see their fave learn and grow and earn her plaudits, but when she actually worsened in character and walked on everyone while those other people still bent over backwards to help her time and time again, the fan relationship soured.
I think the most annoying thing about Rachel’s Funny Girl plot line is how she didn’t earn it.
It shows a major disconnect from the writers to the audience, having your main character be Rachel Berry, and not only cater to her the entirety of the show, but also try and convince you that she earned what she got when she didn’t.
Rachel was given every solo, and every time she had to actually fight for something (Kurt for Defying Gravity, Mercedes for Maria, Tina for Tonight) she throws a fit, gets jealous, storms out, or all of the above. When she chokes she still gets into NYADA and the person who was highly complimented and praised did not.
Yet they try to convince you that her bullying by the hands of Quinn and Santana are more than enough to earn things like leading roles on Broadway with no prior experience. They try and convince you that her being an outcast in high school (???) means she earned all the things she got.
This is what frustrates me about her. I’ve talked more than a million times about why I identify so much with Kurt and why he-looks at blog name-deserved better. Because he had to work 200% more than anyone else, to be told he is the most unique and talented man they’ve ever met and be told he is too unique for what they’re looking for in the same breath.
Yet he still stayed kind, as opposed to Rachel, who ramped up her selfishness, her ego, everything at the first breath of favoritism and fandom and stardom.
If had to change, and could only change exactly one thing in the glee universe, I would have had Kurt get at part on Broadway first. Because then it would have been a great opportunity to show that actual hard work, consistent work, consistent fighting can actual benefit you in the end. Not always real, but it can be.
It could have addressed so many things-Rachel’s inevitable jealousy she would have had to learn to let go, the “Kurt can’t be a leading man” thing that made no sense, the “Kurt is too unique/feminine”, and everything he’s been through.
He’s the character that we would have believed that earned it. He’s the one we would have said, yes, he deserved what he got.
Yet the writers had an obession with Lea Michele and Rachel Berry. And in my opinion, it’s what cost them a fuck ton of respect from the fans.
