Reader is a former yacht girl now newly moved to Turin, Italy for her job as a real-estate accountant. There she meets Dusan Vlahovic, a former client of hers, a client she never thought to see again. However, with Dusan being Readers new boss their past becomes a liability. Nevertheless the spark between them still lives. This story is a romcom with both His and Her POV!

Miami did get a little crazy in the summer, thankfully it was your last year being a yacht girl. Yupp, you were keeping your promise. Once you were out of college you were putting your flip flops on a shelf and stuffing your bikini in the back of your pantie drawer. It was time to grow up and stop treating life like a circus. It was time to get a real job.
"But you'll still visit me when you move to Italy, won't you?" Izzy said, as the two of you shared a scooter on your way to the marina.
"Are you kidding? With my new salary I'm flying you out to visit me. We'll have so much fun together in Turin."
Although it was considered a job, you had formed many great friendships through yachting. Izzy was your best friend in the game, the one you never road without. If it hadn't been for Izzy teaching you the ways of the yachting game, you might as well have ended up in some really bad situations that a lot a girls do whilst seeking the fast way to earn some cash. It was important not to get too in awe of the experience. Izzy had tought you that. Izzy had also taught you that the biggest mistake girls in yachting did was fall in love with a client, a mistake you were thankful you had avoided throughout your career. Although college boys never realky gained your interest either.
"So who's this guy anyway?" You asked. "A nepo baby looking to party?"
"More like a self made billionaire. Raul says he owns like half of Serbia when it comes to real-estate."
"Impressive." You nodded. Your last job as as a yacht girl would be a breezer. It was easier to deal with rich entrepreneurs than spoiled nepo babies who believed to rule the world.
Or so you thought.

"I think they're here." Alex said, looking over the boat deck, keeping an eye out for the girls. Once he spotted them Dusan rose from his taning bed, on his way to alert the crew to prepare the boat for departure.
"There's only two of them." Alex said, looking displeased as he returned from the deck, approaching his friend.
"Yes, one for you and one for me." Dusan said, pointing between the two of them.
"Man, you really have gone soft." Alex sighed. He was already suprised to be invited for a fun day out on his friend's new yacht, only to find the vessel empty of people if you excluded the crew members. "What happened to the old Dusan?" He said. "The one that likes to party. The one that taught me that the more the merrier, huh?"
Dusan chuckled. "I guess he's retired."
"At twenty four? How sad."
"Look, we can still have a good time. The girls said that they were up for anything."
"Yeah, but if I know you you're probably gonna ask them to watch you take a nap."
Dusan shook his head, a smile in his lips.
"When did you get so boring man, is that what a billion dollar empire does to you?"
Dusan opened his mouth to get back at his friend but that's when they heard voices below.
"Hello, anybody home?"
"Up hear!" Dusan shouted, a minute passing before they heard footsteps climbing the stairs. Two girls emerged, dressed in nothing but strips of fabric,  bikini's barley covering enough.
"Hi, I heard you guys were looking to party." The blond one said. Her hair was cut short with several tattoos covering her arms.
"Yeah, that's us." Alex grinned.
"Well, the party has arrived." She cheered.
Dusan had nothing against girls with short and bleached hair, but tattoos never did it for him.
"Great. How would you girls like your martinis?"
"Dry." The blond girl was quick to make clear. "And no olives."
"Got it, dry and no olives. How about your friend?"
All eyes turned to the second girl who's presence hadn't been as notisble as her friend. But now that he had his eyes in her, Dusan found it almost impossible to diverge his attention from her.
"Y/N?"
"Huh?" The girl seemed distracted,  her gaze having stuck to a point below Dusan's chin. He wasn't wearing a shirt,  only swimming trunks. Perhaps she found it rude, him introducing himself half naked. Not that she was any better.
"What drink do you want?" Her friend asked, in a bit if a rush to get the party started. The crew was heard above their heads,  the yacht would set sail at any minute now.
"S...ame as you." The girl stuttered. Her voice was unique. It was quite deep but in a very feminine way.
"No olives?" Her friend confirmed.
"No olives." The girl nodded. Her friend then followed Alex downstairs to the bar, leaving Dusan with no trail of thought in the presence of the girl which his eyes had yet diverge from.
"You have a very nice boat." She said,  trying to somther the rise of an awkward silence.
"Um, thank you." Dusan said, clearing his throat. "It's new actually."
"I can see that." She seemed fairly fascinated, as she dared approach the boats railing, admiring the view of Miami Beach.
"Yeah, how so?" Dusan asked, joining her side. But instead of admiring the view, he couldn't help but to admire her. She had eyes that sparked something within him, a sudden thrill.
"What do you mean?" A frown ruined her face.
Dusan felt the need to make himself clear. "You said that you could tell that my yacht is brand new,  how so?"
"Oh." She turned for her back to rest against the railing, her eyes now wandering across the newly swiped deck. "Well, it's every billionaires dream to own a boat and put it on display in Miami, or am I wrong?"
"I don't know." Dusan smiled. He was quite entertained. "I've never heard of this fenomenon. Surley the expert is you considering your experience with billionaires and boats."
The girl's eyebrow rose with interest, however Dusan's slik comment did not seem to have insulted her.
"Perhaps it's not every billionaires dream." She said, turning her head to face him. Again, her eyes sparked a thrill within Dusan, a thrill he was more than excited to explore. "But it sure is every newly crowned billionaires dream."
He wrinkled his nose.
The girl had a twinkle in her eyes. "My friend googled your net worth on our way here."
"I see." Dusan nodded. "Fair enough. I may or might not have bought this yacht in honor of my business flourishing this past year. However I'm not planning on docking it in Miami for display."
"Your gonna sail it across the seven seas?"
Dusan snorted, unintentionally of course. How did she make him do that? Her comment caught him of gaurd. "Not really." He said, collecting himself. "I'll have a friend of mine bring it home for me. He's more of a professional."
"Yeah, that's probably a better idea. Sailing a boat through pirate infested waters can be tricky without experience."
Again, the girl made him chuckled. It was pathetic how tipsy he came across. The girl must smell the glass of champagne he had earlier on his breath and think he's one of those creeps to invite yacht girls on their boats just to get them drunk. He had to assure her that he wasn't like that. He had to assure her that she could feel safe with him.
"We got martinis!"
Just as he was about to ensure her safety, the girl's friend showed up, followed by Alex who carried a tray of filled glasses. "Let's get this party started!" He said, handing out the drinks, making sure everyone had a glass in their hand for a toast. "To a lovely day, spent with two lovely girls." He said, as cheesy as ever.
"Cheers to that!" The blond girl said, rasing her glass.
Before downing his drink Dusan turned to her friend, making sure that she looked to be having a good time as well. He was suprised to find her smiling at him, an empty martini glass in her hand. "Drink up." She winked.
Dusan did exactly that. He would do whatever she asked him to, whatever.

Nancy Drew Rewatch
I've decided to rewatch the series now that it's done and why not blog my thoughts this time around, right? (Hi, Bethany!)
"Horseshoe Bay's most infamous sea queen wore her crown for just one night. People say she still haunts our town. But I don't believe in ghosts. I believe in looking for the truth."
I like that these were pretty much the first words of the series. I went into the show the first time expecting that to be the way it would be: like the books I read growing up, it would be pulling the ghost masks off evil real estate developers.
Wait. I'm thinking of Scooby Doo, huh?
Still. In those books, Nancy found the completely normal - albeit nefarious - reason that there were strange noises and secret staircases. And they were never ghosts.
So I admit it took me a little while to warm to the show. I didn't dislike it! I just didn't get what it was going for. I had the wrong idea and it took some time to understand the show wanted me to let that go.
So here we go: Season One - Episode One: Pilot
(More - much more - below... Also! This is a rewatch so there ARE SPOILERS.)

Books on Nick's shelf: A History of Western Morals by Crane Brinton and The Lies That Bind: Rethinking Identity by Kwame Anthony Appiah. (We also see Plato on a higher shelf and other titles I can't make out, unfortunately. Excuse the blurry screenshot and understand why that's all I got.)
Having finished the show, those two titles in the screenshot do seem pretty appropriate. Especially 'Rethinking Identity' considering we're getting to know five characters and what we're given about them is maybe not the most relevant facts... or even entirely true.
And since those books are rattling on the shelves because Nancy and Nick are knocking boots, (No, wait. She puts on her sneakers after and his boots are on the floor by the bed.) let me go ahead and admit now: I liked Nancy and Nick together in the first go 'round.
Also? I liked the idea of Nancy Drew as intentionally uncurious. We're given such a quick punch of details here and I think they're presented well: "I never do this." "You say that every time." "Also never thought I'd be wearing this again." (Her Claw uniform.) "I'm not exactly where I thought I'd be, either. And that would be freshman tailback for University of Florida, which is where I'm from, if you're curious."
And of course there's her voice over just before that: "...when I'm with him, I don't think of anything else. And that's a good thing." Bookended at the end of her brief conversation with Nick by answering his "You don't ask a lot of questions, do you?" by saying, "What can I say? Girls love mystery." She says that like it means she doesn't want to solve them but of course it can read both ways. Nancy does love a mystery, she told us in her backstory. She's just sworn off solving them now.
At The Claw we get the rest of the gang introduced: George, Nancy's manager and former classmate with the bad blood between her and Nancy; Bess, the rich girl who's living in a mansion for the summer but inexplicably working as a waitress; and Ace NoLastName who I'll get to in a second.
Of course, having seen the whole show, we know how wrong or won't-be-true-for-long the information is. The 'bad blood' Nancy and George will become people who risk everything again and again for each other. (As they all will.) Bess isn't rich and certainly isn't living in a mansion.
And then there's Ace. The way Nancy presents his lack of last name makes it seem like Ace's choice. He's a one name enigma. But there's also a hint that she's intentionally not noting his last name in the way she goes on to imply that maybe it's not that he doesn't judge her for tanking her grades and bailing on applying to college, but instead just doesn't remember that she told him. And if he doesn't remember (or, as implied, care) that, then she doesn't remember (or, possibly, care) about his last name.
But it's easy to shrug it all off and not make much of it, especially when his 'my bad' on the lack of crackers and the 'sorry, I was thirsty' about the lack of wine as well as the 'it wasn't me' when the lights go out imply that her read on Ace's level of concern and accountability is pretty low as well. Though given that she's outright told us she's in the deficit on those herself, it seems a little hypocritical that she seems to look down on Ace for lacking them. (In minor ways that could just be a teasing coworker/friend sort of thing like with her "like a fungus" response to his declaration that he's "growing on her" about Bess.)
But let’s imagine for a moment, that scene where our newly uncurious and disinterested Nancy confesses that she’s ruined her senior year and her chances for college. Who does she confess all of this too? The implied flake whose last name she doesn’t even know? Hardly. Even then, Ace is far more important to Nancy than she lets on.
Rewatching this knowing the details about George/Ryan and Ryan and Nancy, it's nice to see there were hints there to be caught about George and Ryan at least. There's George's "We could stay open a little longer" when Bess tells him they're closed when he beats on the locked door. There's her strained tone of voice as she greets him: "Mr Hudson! Welcome to The Claw!" and the positively gritted teeth as she continues, "I don't believe that you've been in here before." And of course the "Oh, your wife is here?" and the quick change from retail-worker polite smile to I'm-going-to-stab-someone thousand yard stare as soon as she turns away from the table. And most of all, asking Nancy for help so she doesn't have to take the food out to Ryan's wife.
Yikes. Who could blame her?
And good grief, Ryan. Ask the teen you're sleeping with to bring food out to your wife. There's a long list of not great things you've done and that's hardly the headliner but it IS the first one we see, even if we don't know the significance yet.
To be continued because this is long and I'm only a quarter through the first episode! I'm sure they'll be shorter as this goes on. (If this goes on? Anyone interested in this?) But this is the first episode and I guess I was feeling wordy!

Jackunzel February Special Week 2 - Summer The Painter and the Drifter
Railroad worker. Grocer’s assistant. Farmhand. Carriage driver.
All jobs Jackson Overland has tried--and failed to keep. Word around town is that he has a bit of a problem with authority. A bit of a tendency to goof off when he should be stocking shelves or helping shop visitors or whatever else.
Jack can’t help it, really. Life is too short not to grab onto every fun moment you can, even at the cost of a boss or two’s ire. Or three. Or maybe four.
He’s running out of options. Jack has been floating from town to town with no real plan, always on the hunt for the least onerous occupation. But moving isn’t cheap, and less and less people want to hire a young man with a reputation for tomfoolery.
It’s become a tiresome life. He’s been a nomad since his early teen years, and he finds himself wanting somewhere to belong. Something to do with his fleeting life besides try to survive with the bare minimum effort.
Then one summer, he takes a job as a gardener on a country estate. The Coronas are a powerful and influential family--local celebrities and benefactors for the nearby village. Earls or viscounts or something of the sort--Jack can’t keep track of gentry ranks. All frivolous rich person business that’s never really going to cross into his sphere.
Or so he thinks.
House Corona’s soon-to-be-debutante daughter is a bit of an oddball, by noble standards. She spends her summer...well, much more earthy activities than Jack would expect from a proper young lady. Sitting--sometimes even lying--in the front lawn’s long grass and painting. Musing through books that (from what he can glimpse of them) look much more dense and complicated than what Jack’s heard “proper ladies” can wrap their heads around. Wandering around in the woods and picking every interesting plant she laid eyes on--not just dainty wildflowers one could make an inoffensive and demure hobby out of collecting.
Plants and flowers alike often end up woven into her perfectly-brushed blonde hair, much to the chagrin of her nurses. Whenever Jack hears harsh tones and raised voices across the garden, it’s more than likely to be Rapunzel getting a lecture about grass stains on her gowns or dirt in her hair or what sort of ungodly things all this sun must be doing to her perfect complexion. And, of course, there’s the frequent concern of her intimidating potential suitors at her debutante ball by “spouting out all those books you devour faster than gentlemen know what to do with it.”
It’s a sunny morning in midsummer when Lady Rapunzel first speaks to him, decked out in a gold-embroidered white dress and without a single reservation to be seen.
Well...alone, at least. They’ve exchanged words while passing on the lawn, but never a long conversation. Then one day, he stands up after trimming the roses to find House Corona’s heir right behind him, holding out a plate of strawberry jam tarts.
Apparently he was so consumed with his work that he didn’t hear her creeping through the long grass. He yelps, nearly falling into the same pit of thorns he’s been straightening out all morning.
Rapunzel has quick reflexes for a noble. Keeping a one-hand hold on the plate, she reaches out and grabs his wrist just before he’s impaled with several dozen of nature’s best domestic spikes.
She’s...surprisingly unbothered by how filthy his arms are. Most of her family tries to not so much as brush against him as they pass by.
“Hi!” She beams at him. “Sorry, uh...didn’t mean to startle you. You’ve been working so hard all day, so I thought you might want a snack? I helped make them myself! Not really supposed to work in the kitchen, but um...well, it passes the time when it’s too hot out.”
She grows a little self-conscious, not meeting his eyes for a second. Jack only chuckles.
“Hey, it’s all right. They look delicious. But...” His face falls as he realizes something. “I don’t want to get you in trouble, miss. Are you supposed to give me--”
“Oh, well.” Her eyes glint mischievously. “In a family like mine, you make a few enemies. You never know who might poison your tarts when you’re not looking. Safer to test them on the garden boy, right?”
When Jack looks at her skeptically, she laughs and swats him--the second time she’s voluntarily touched his dirt-caked arm, he notes.
“Relax! I’m kidding. No one’s looking, anyways. And if someone catches me, I’ll take the fall.”
He wonders if that’s possible--a noble taking the fall for a servant. It seems unlikely to work.
Regardless, those tarts are looking pretty damn good--and much fancier than anything he’s eaten recently. And he’s starving.
Rapunzel watches with utter delight as he devours the strawberry jam tarts (perhaps a little quicker than was dignified). The pastries taste like ambrosia from the gods themselves. The kind of delicacy Jack has only ever dreamed about.
“You’re a really good chef,” he blurts out. Probably not very proper, comparing someone of her station to a mere food preparer.
Lady Rapunzel takes it in stride, giggling.
“And you’re a really good gardener!” she replies cheerily.
The lady bites her lip, looking uncertain again.
“Father says I spend too much time on it, but...I’ve been painting your garden! in between the obligatory etiquette lessons, anyhow. Do you want to see?”
Jack casts a glance back at the rosebush--his bitter foe since the sun oozed over the horizon that morning. He’d love an excuse to be done with it.
“Why not?”

Rapunzel, it turns out, is extraordinarily talented. She belongs in a castle, doing commissions for a king. Not learning stupid, arbitrary propriety rules and waiting around to be married off to some rich, land-owning asshole.
Her paintings pop with cheerful, free-flowing colors--flower thickets and sunlit brick walls and the very hedges he regularly shapes. Tall hollyhocks and lush lupine and honeysuckle vines creeping along walls and the thatched roofs of the village in the distance. Trees with full emerald canopies, dappled sunlight and shadows stretching out below them. Birds and squirrels and deer and foxes peeking out from hidden corners, fur and feathers splotched with leaves. Everything in Rapunzel’s paintings teems with life.
Their story is an unlikely one--the drifter and the painter, brought together by appreciation for even the simplest, most overlooked beauty of the world. Rapunzel takes to picnicking as the summer rolls by, preferring to eat in relative “privacy” from her family in order to sneak Jack any number of things from the kitchen. Cheese, crackers, freshly-cut charcuterie meat, tart jam, wild-picked fruit, baguettes and miniature quiches just out of the oven. Fine champagne a far cry from the craft beers Jack can snag at the village tavern. It’s the most lavish that Jack has eaten in...well, in as long as he can remember.
But the food isn’t the only part of Jack’s long workday he comes to look forward to. As they lie snacking on Rapunzel’s blankets, she shows Jack journals and guidebooks, all filled with beautiful, detailed drawings of every plant he can imagine and explorations of the world around them. Rapunzel’s grown quite adept at plant identification, studying and copying the guidebook drawings until she could yank any wildflower or weed from the grass and tell Jack what it was from leaf shape alone. He never imagined he’d be particularly concerned with plants and such, but...
With the way Rapunzel gushes about them, her eyes glowing brighter than every sunlit summer leaf put together, it’s hard not to be.
But they know this little pocket of bliss they’ve found together can’t last forever. Autumn is fast approaching, and with it Rapunzel’s debutante ball and an end to the estate’s need for someone to tend its garden.
Jack knows he should move along, just like always. Rapunzel will need to search for a real suitor, not...
Not some wide-eyed gardener with delusions of being worthy of a noblewoman’s love.
Eventually, Jack and Rapunzel will be forced to ask if their secret rendezvouses and growing affection for each other are worth the Corona family’s ire...and whether they may have to up-heave everything they’ve ever known to stay in each other’s lives.
Perhaps, they think, it would be worth it.

VERY pleased with all the deep green in this, it’s...well, summery XD Green is one of my favorite colors in the world so I’m generally always down for more of it lol. But hey, I followed the prompt! Just doing my civic duty X3
I’ve highkey had that “blonde girl painting in a field/park” pic forever, and I was always kind of hoping to use it for some kind of period piece??? So I guess this was the end result of that urge. Idk how well the clothing fits in with the vague time period I selected, but...let’s hope it’s at least believable XD Sadly I have no definitive answer for the time period besides Ye Olden Days When Inter-Class Marriages and Romances Were More Taboo, whoops ^^;
Damn, now I...really want that picnic food and those jam tarts D: Alas, the downside of writing (and providing visuals) about your blorbos doing fun activities is then you would like to join in. Not to woo them, no--that is only for Jack and Punzel to do to each other--but instead to have to opportunity to eat quality food. Which is, of course, always my main priority.
I really gotta eat more jam and cheese and crackers, it really makes me feel like a fantasy protagonist or a Jane Austen character akjdhbpesuv
