Watching The Dragon Prince Season Six Part Seven: The Red Wedding. The title of this episode makes me so nervous nothing bad better happen to Amaya and Janai at their wedding.

Okay, first of all, that is NOT Rayla narrating I don’t know what the subtitles are on about, I’m 99.9% sure that’s Ezran.

Also “There’ll be more kisses later” I love how the second they officially get together, Callum and Rayla resume their status as world’s sappiest, most clingy couple.

Also, I know Kazi was confirmed to be nonbinary by the creators but I think this is the first time their pronouns are actually used in the show! Yay!

Poor Janai and Amaya but especially poor Janai. Imagine finally deciding to get married after putting off scheduling your wedding because Something is always happening in your kingdom, only to have your fuckass brother decide to take a sixth of your army and invade your fucking kingdom ON YOUR WEDDING DAY right as you’re about to start the vows. I deeply admire the composure of these women, I would have lit something on fire by now.

(It should be noted that, although I haven’t mentioned it thus far, I am watching this season with my family. My brother says that he thinks maybe the guy got bitten by the dark-magic zombies at the great bookery in season five? That sounds like it could be right so I’m gonna go with that for now. I’ll check when I’m done with the episode.)

Ough… My heart. I love the character growth Amaya has gone through so much.

Oh, Corvus and Aanya works too! I love Ezran so much. He’s hopeful and kindhearted but he’s not naive. He goes to negotiate with Karim using words rather than violence, but he takes Corvus and Aanya for backup in case things escalate.

reading your DVD commentary asks and i saw the one about Rayllum having a baby boy

I mostly tend to envision them having a baby girl mainly because Callum just gives off pure girl dad energy but the concept of Rayllum having a clingy baby boy is just too cute not to think about

also Callum having anxiety over not being good “boy things” like sword fighting and sports

Girl (or at least first baby as a girl) does seem to be the most common Rayllum kid. I’m tempted to do a poll now and ask about it.

I honestly don’t really think Callum’s that concerned with not being particularly interesting in traditional masculine things. (Or what would be deemed as traditionally masculine in our society, the world of TDP really doesn’t seem to have those definitions. Sarai is clearly shown and known to be a better warrior than Harrow. Out of Callum and Rayla, she’s portrayed as the fighter).

When he’s explaining to Rayla about not being good at sword fighting or horse riding, I took it more as him struggling with the fact those things were expected of him as a prince/royalty, rather than because he’s male. Harrow encourages his drawing. Callum is open with his love of poetry and reading. Spoilers 6: 601 shows he can sew.

So, when it comes to his kids, I personally see Callum as taking on the role of doing the less active things and doing that quite happily. Painting with kiddo(s) and reading to them, doing silly voices. Showing them how to sew and make stuff.

And even though he does have a temper, I think it would take a lot for him to show that to his kids. I can see him being really good at explaining feelings and emotions to surly toddlers, helping them work through big feelings and the like. Don’t get me wrong, I think Rayla would be endlessly patient with her kids (she’s so sweet with Ezran in arc 1) but Callum grew up with the example and vocabulary to help a kid through those things.

He’d probably be the one to teach them to swim though. 😉

In your fic ‘I Want To Be Enough For You’ you mention Ben wrapping himself around Callum like a baby koala and I just though that it sounds absolutely adorable and I would love if you wrote a fic where Ben does exactly that is quite clingy (maybe because he’s struggling or something), of course you don’t have to I just think it would be cute! x 🦋

Callum had learned very early on in their relationship that Ben liked to be touched. It wasn’t news to anyone that Ben wasn’t shy about touching Callum in a way that was clearly intended to lead to sex; the kinds of touches that were paired with hooded eyes, a flirtatious smile, and lewd whispers in Callum’s ear that caused a burning blush to rise high on his cheeks. That had taken a bit of getting used to—and at first he thought Ben was just taking the piss, because no one had given him that kind of attention before. Callum liked how it felt having Ben’s hand slide dangerously high up his thigh or squeeze his ass or grip tightly onto his hips. It made him feel sexy; desirable. Not once in his 28 years had he ever felt like that, not before Ben.

But the kind of touches that Ben himself seemed to enjoy the most, as Callum had discovered, were much more innocent in nature. Before he had gotten to know him better, Callum had always assumed Ben’s provocativeness around men was because sex was a high priority for him. So after their first date, it had surprised Callum to hear the man suggest they put the brakes on the sexual side of things.
