Headcanons: Silas Drake

Part of the deal Silas made with Frank Borash (the name the man gave Silas when he first met him ; Silas hasn’t yet found out that this is an alias) and the organization he worked with didn’t just include his cybernetic prosthetic arm, the surgeons also manipulated Silas’ DNA, which include enhancements such as

- enhanced strength - enhanced reflexes - enhanced agility - heightened sense of awareness - and an implemented regenerative healing factor that is a capable of healing such injuries like broken bones, gunshot and stab wounds to a certain certain extent much quicker.

These enhancements have made Silas a better fighter and a better marksman - but most importantly to the organization, their perfect yet expendable killer.

His artificial arm is also equipped with a build in hidden blade as well as a makeshift taser.  He controls his arm (which is attached from just below his elbow) with special sensors that detect tiny naturally generated electric signals in his muscles and nerves, allowing him to generate movement similar to his real arm.

Headcanons: Silas Drake

Silas’ cybernetic arm was equipped with a hidden, extendable and retractable blade, an implement to his prosthetic that he primarily used to dispatch his targets in a quiet manner while he was being mind controlled. When he was ‘awake’, he did not know of the blade thus he wouldn’t figure out how to activate it - unlike in his brainwashed state. After regaining his consciousness, the mind control chip in his brain destroyed by a traumatic head injury he suffered in prison, Silas was told by doctors of his secret attachment, which they could not figure out how to remove without destroying his cybernetic arm. 

Silas not only kept his cybernetic arm after he was released from his sentence, but would go on to use the blade to his advantage - if he was going to hunt for the truth against the people that ruined his life, why not use their own creation against them?

Additionally, after being released from prison, Silas found a way for his cyber arm to be detachable, replacing it with a normal prosthetic for him to use while he’s working on cars and greeting customers. The decision was influenced not only by the trauma he suffered from his wife’s murder, whether he actually committed it or not, but also the general hesitation and apprehension of others he’s experienced prior to his prison sentence.

In 2002, Silas was medically discharged from the military after he lost his arm in an explosive attack. He was only 21. 

In 2003, he was approached by a man with a decorative military background; he promised to change his life for the better, and it was because of the man’s background that he managed to convince Silas to accept his offer. He had a cybernetic prosthetic arm made to replace the appendage Silas lost. After this, Silas became an agent for man’s organization, where Silas would be a secret government-approved assassin - taking out targets that were (apparently) threats to the public. During the surgery to attach his new arm, a microchip was secretly planted into Silas’ brain. Silas would go on to commit murders and other crimes while brainwashed due to this microchip. He wouldn’t remember anything he did during this time when the microchip was turned off. 

In 2005, Silas is arrested for the brutal murders of his younger sister Erica, his wife Kaylie, and Kaylie’s sister Bridgette - who were found stabbed and shot to death in Silas’ home by Silas’ father Christian. Evidence clearly pointed to Silas as being the murderer - Silas could not remember committing the killings, thus his defense tried to argue the insanity plea due to his struggling issues with PTSD from short service in the military. The jury nor judge did not accept his plea and he was sentenced to life in prison.

In 2008, while serving his prison sentence, Silas was involved in a fight with several other inmates; during the brawl, he sustained a head injury that required him to be admitted to the hospital for treatment. While there, doctors discovered the shards of the now broken microchip that had been implanted in his three years prior. When Wyatt Burch, a childhood friend of Silas’ who remained at his side while Silas’ loved ones and other friends turned away from him, heard about this finding he reached out to his father - a defense attorney - to help Silas get a retrial. The murder case of Silas’ sister, ex-wife, and sister-in-law was reopened and Hal Burch proved to a new jury that - while Silas did commit the murders - he was, in fact, being brainwashed. Silas’ sentenced was greatly reduced and he now had the chance of being set free within a few years on parole if he remains on good behavior for the remainder of the sentence set.

In 2016, Silas was released from prison, after serving 11 years in total. Now 35 years old and a free man, Silas went back to his hometown, with the hopes of reconciling with his elderly father and remaining younger sister. However, despite the evidence of Silas’ brainwashing, neither his father Christian or his sister Monica still wanted anything to do with him - in their eyes, Silas still took away his youngest sister’s life, no matter the circumstances. After this rejection, Silas left his hometown, moving away to reside in a place where no one recognized his face and knew of his history (which was difficult given the media attention the trials had gotten). When he finally settled, he took a job as a mechanic, got a dog to keep him company, and began his search for the truth about what really happened to him. Unfortunately, to Silas’ confusion and anger, he could find nothing about the man that ‘helped’ him years before - nor the organization that Silas had killed many for. But he’s not giving up his search - not until his last, dying breath.

Archetype / Occupation: Vigilante

Whilst searching for answers to his heart-heavy questions, looking for the truth about his past, the real reason behind the murders of his loved ones to which he cannot remember committing - Silas swore an oath to himself: he was used as a weapon of destruction, killing seemed to have all he knew, to purge certain individuals who may have been entirely innocent. He is still a weapon, but not for those of ill and cruel intentions - not anymore.

He’ll protect the innocent and punish those of evil and corruption, using the very instruments given to him for the heinous purposes of others. 

Perhaps...maybe it will not only save his soul, atone of his sins of the past, but it may also lead to him to what he seeks and desires most.
