"So the Shortest Day came and the year died
And everywhere down the centuries of the snow‐white world
Came people singing, dancing,
To drive the dark away."
PETITE MAMAN (2021, dir. Céline Sciamma) has entered the Criterion collection!
Sciamma’s follow-up to PORTRAIT OF A LADY ON FIRE transcends time and space to weave a delicate fable about grief, family, and connection across generations.

So, I just read Wildwood (the book the next Laika movie is based on) and all I can say is, this book is a MASTERPIECE!
Characters and plot are really cool! Pacing is great!!! I cried at the end. Our Protag is a really interesting character! Prue is my girly, Curtis is my son!
On the Laika note...
They're giving them vibes
Take that as you will (Slightly sassy girly x shy nerd boy) (She does kiss him on the cheek at the end)
Seriously Laika is going to knock this out of the ball park! We already know they are great with these types of ships friendships.
The visuals they are gonna get to work with is gonna be great! THe writing team is going to have so much fun! The overall aesthetic of the book is gorgeous! The pictures throughout are flipping beautiful!
Laika Studios has announced that its sixth stop-motion feature film is titled Wildwood, based on the novel written by Colin Meloy and illustrated by Carson Ellis. The film is written by Chris Butler and directed by Travis Knight. The film stars the voice talents of Carey Mulligan, Mahershala Ali, Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Jacob Tremblay, Awkwafina, Angela Bassett, Jake Johnson, Charlie Day, Amandla Stenberg, Tantoo Cardinal, Jemaine Clement, Tom Waits, and Richard E. Grant.
Laika describes Wildwood as "a tale of love, loss, sacrifice and secrets, and of the magic you can find on your doorstep, if you’re willing to look for it." When Prue's baby brother is carried by crows into the Impassable Wilderness on the edge of Portland, Oregon, Prue and her classmate Curtis enter the wilderness to get him back.
"Prue couldn't believe that no one had ever ventured this far into the Impassable Wilderness ; she found it a welcoming and serene place, full of life and beauty.", from Wildwood.
"My dear Prue, we are the inheritors of a wonderful world, a beautiful world, full of life and mystery, goodness and pain. But likewise are we children of an indifferent universe. We break out own hearts imposing our moral order on what is, by nature, a wide web of chaos. It is a hopeless task.", from Wildwood.
Carson Ellis puts out these prompts once a month on instagram, and they are so fun to attempt. Still not great at figuring out Tumblr just yet(searching for people, or just understanding the basics) but thought I’d post it here too!
