Y’all in my dream last night, the private Christian academy where I attended high school was putting on a Stranger Things musical, and I was in the audience with fellow Bylers saying, “They’re not gonna let Will be gay. They’re gonna skip over that.” But then Will got a solo where he sang about loving Mike, and me and the people around me stood up and yelled, “THEY LET HIM BE GAY!! hey so before I knew about the not only possibility but likelihood of byler endgame I swore off stranger things entirely for carelessly milking queer pain. how they treated Will in s4 was disgusting if byler isn’t endgame. if it really is unrequited they spent so many unnecessary shots showing us how sad Will is he’s so sad and gay he’s such a sad gay sad sad gay boy. I would not be watching s5 if byler wasn’t going to be endgame and if it isn’t I will say with my full chest that Stranger Things is a show that monopolizes on queer pain without a thought to what message that sends. Mike didn’t have to like Will back but they should’ve handled this much more carefully and quickly than they are if that is what they were going for.
