Character in a book I'm reading: "You know there's other places to the world than America! There's Canada, and Mexico."

#Not tagging book or author because that's rude but seriously#All three of those places are on the same continent#The author couldn't have said India or Pakistan or Thailand or New Zealand or Denmark or any country not in the Americas?#Knowing this author I'm hoping it was a very subtle joke that just fell flat for me in particular#But the whole “corn is synonymous with summer” thing that happened in the last book they wrote makes me think it's unconscious bias#Because the last book -also- implied that corn summer and snow winter was a universal constant everywhere in the world too.
