Meg 2: The Trench has several scenes with damaged, sparking electrical equipment, moments of intense flickering lights, and some rapid gunfire. The third production company logo has a strobe of lightning, and there is more lightning shortly after.

The camera shakes during fight scenes, and follows high-speed action on the water in other scenes.

Filming commenced as planned at the end of January at the Warner-owned Leavesden Studios outside London, with principal photography starting on February 4, 2022. It continued there until May before switching to outdoor locations, presumably in Asia. While the production was ongoing, Sienna Guillory, Skyler Samuels, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, and Wu Jing were announced as part of the cast.

Post-production DNEG, Scanline VFX and Milk VFX provided the visual effects for the sequel (with DNEG also handling the 3D conversion). Pete Bebb and Gavin Round served as production visual effects supervisor and production visual effects producer respectively.

Music Harry Gregson-Williams composed the sequel, returning from the first film.WaterTower Music released a score album on July 28, in addition to the Bankay Ojo's remix version of Page Kennedy's song "Chomp."

Jason Whitlock’s Pivot To RedPill Content Is Concerning

Okay, strap in, take a seat, grab a coffee, because I been wanting to address this topic for a minute, nahmean, and there’s a lot to unpack here, so let’s get it.

I remember the redpill content back in the day and it was different.

What you see now, with guys comparing bank acocunts, cars and status, and the absurd belief that women should automatically see this as something fit to marry, is relatively new to the space. This only started happening when older content creators entered the space, ie. Richard Cooper and Kevin Samuels.

In 2012, 2013, 2014, the kinds of conversations in this space were not glowing reviews of women in the dating market, they were also slightly more nuanced in how they happened, or they things they would note/talk about.

I’m glad a lot of these guys have found ways to get out and start looking for the relationships they want, because it’s important for a man.

Me, myself, I’m what dudes on Youtube would describe as a pookie/ray-ray type. I got these here few ways of making cash, a little spot, my Hyundai and a fly New Balance collection.

So while I am not some “high value” dude, I still empathize with a lot of the MGTOW guys, even speaking up for them sometimes, and it wasn’t like I was immune to dealing with the same situations or noticing the same types of things that they did. 

I can definitely see why a women will look at some of the “high value men” and have misgivings, because at the end of the day, money ain’t the only thing moving the needle with women.

I’ll keep it funky for you, Jason Whitlock being involved in the redpill space, discredits all redpill content.

This is a man that found ways to bash black women, even outside of the context of relationships or marriage, and if you don’t believe, then check some his commentary regarding Simone Biles and Serena Williams.

The reality is that people getting passports to see what’s going on in other parts of the country, or the world, is not a new thing. Why are these guys getting thier own label, or being placed in a new category for doing something that people have been doing for the longest of time?

Because you’re only a passport bro, if you travel abroad and say negative things about black women on the way out, too.

What this is about, is your boy Whitlock finding a way to turn “passport bros” into a right-wing talking point, because it helps/ falls in line with Republican sentiment regarding a demographic of people whose vote they’ll never be able to win in a Democratic/ free election.

That matters. Don’t sleep

Is Whitlock concerned about relationships or is this the new cash-grab because the pro-Trump nonsense ain’t getting the numbers that it used to?

Think about it. This is a man that has made so many egregious comments about a lot of things really. So knowing that, do you think it’s easy for bro to get interviews with current or former pro-athletes on his channel?

Hell nah.

Being associated with this guy is death to any athlete’s brand, that’s why he can only get retired players for interviews, if any at all.

Point is, this is not Whiltock stumbling on to something big for his channel, it’s more like a hail mary by a guy that can’t understand that Ben Shapiro and Steven Crowder fans don’t want to see him, and the Koch brothers won’t offer him anything close to what those other 2 are getting.

The thing that bothers me is why are Black women being singled out?

I don’t care if it looks like caping because in reality, the things passport bro’s are mad about are things you would see from any other demographic, but you actually need to get around in order to know that.

Latin men, Asian men, African men, European men, they all travel to find what they want, and they’re not going that far and wide because it’s convenient, it’s because they feel they have to in order to give themselves a shot at happiness.

So why is there an extra layer of criticism for Black women, when in reality this is an old trend, and all the other demographics have likely dealt with the same thing?

I’m not falling for the pump-fake, fam, especially not when Whitlock is interjecting himself out of fake love and concern.

I spend a lot of time on Youtube where people often disparage others based on looks and weight, and if Whitlock wanted to be a leader to the black community, he’d start by leading his ass to weight-watchers or at the very least a scale.

As soon as I walked outside my dormitory and spotted Benjamin, a big grin formed on my face and I ran up to him.

He caught me in his arms with a laugh...

"It's good to see you too."

It was seven pm and Benjamin picking me up right on time as promised.

We pulled back and his hands slid down to my waist.

"I'm ready for our date. Today was so boring, all we did was go over the syllabus in all of my classes."

I had the same three classes on Monday and Wednesday, Math, English and Speech.

On Friday I had psychology which I was looking forward to.

With my boyfriend's hand in mine, we turned towards Benjamin''s car.

"Yeah, that was how my day went too," he said and opened the door for me before settling into the drivers seat.

We were off to the restaurant and I told Benjamin about Kai and how he mumbles random things in his sleep and Ben told me about his roommate.

"I'm so jealous," Benjamin groaned.

We walked up to the restaurant.

"You got stuck with someone cool with lesbian parents which makes him cooler," I chuckled at that.

"And I got stuck with a 'frat bro' who owns way too many flat-bill, snapback hats."

"I'm sorry," I laughed as Benjamin opened the door for me but my laughing ceased and I stopped in my tracks.

'No, no, no. What is he doing here?'

"You okay?" Benjamin asked, his hand on my lower back for comfort.

"Yeah."

No, I wasn't okay.

Wow.

God really had a twisted sense of humor because when Benjamin and I walked into Rosemary, Noah Wright was wiping down a table and placing dirty dishes in a bin.

Noah worked at Rosemary.

'Of course' my ex-boyfriend worked at the restaurant my boyfriend was taking me too.

He wasn't looking our way.

In fact, he was faced the opposite direction, so I could only see the back of him but I'd know the back of Noah even through the dark 'especially the back of him without clothes but that's neither here nor there'.

Noah was dressed like all the other males in the restaurant, black dress pants, black apron around his waist, white button down with the sleeved cuffed.

They must not have regulated what type of shoes because Noah was wearing black converse.

Benjamin only noticed my discomfort, he hadn't noticed Noah until my ex-boyfriend turned around and we locked eyes.

"We can go," Benjamin offered almost anxiously.

"No," I broke eye contact with Noah to face Benjamin.

"You raved about this place. I'm here with you," I grabbed his hand, squeezing slightly with a reassuring smile.

Noah wasn't going to ruin my date with Benjamin.

I turned and scared anxiously at the podium with the sign 'Please wait and a host will be with you' taped to it.

I wanted to take our seats already.

For someone who missed their beginning, could you explain the Franzen wars?

I think even I missed their beginning—it's a long story—but I'll do my best. I'm going to do this at top speed, so, apologies, but no links!

In 1996, Franzen, then a relatively unsuccessful young novelist in the systems-novel mold of Pynchon/DeLillo writes a lament in Harper's about the decline of the social novel and of the social novelist's larger public.

In 2001, he makes good on this manifesto with The Corrections, a realist novel with only a few remaining postmodern elements; published literally days before 9/11—I maintain this had something to do with its rapturous reception—it's acclaimed as worthy of Dickens, Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Mann, as a book that's saved the American novel from vanishing into itself in a cloud of academic metafiction.

Also in 2001, Oprah selects The Corrections for her book club. Franzen, mired in Gen-X fears of selling out, makes various public remarks about being too much "in the high-art literary tradition" for Oprah, so she disinvites him.

In 2002, he publishes an essay in The New Yorker disparaging experimental fiction as an affair of "status" in avant-garde or academic coteries, while championing his preferred model of "contract" fiction, which seeks to uphold its bargain to provide instruction and delight to the paying customer.

In 2006, Ben Marcus assails Franzen as a plodding realist and populist dullard in Harper's, this on behalf of the experimental novel—Bernhard's Correction is Marcus's cannily chosen counterexample to The Corrections—thus helping to hurt Franzen's reputation among the cognoscenti.

In 2010, Franzen's fourth novel, another family saga, Freedom, finally appears; now he does go on Oprah, as well as on the cover on Time magazine where, with furrowed brow, he is hailed a "great American novelist."

Also in 2010, Franzen becomes an early victim of Twitter-based cancel culture when middle- to lowbrow women's fiction writers Jodi Picoult and Jennifer Weiner, understandably annoyed that Franzen is championed for trespassing on their oft-disparaged fictional territory of the domestic novel, popularize the #franzenfreude hashtag to object to his predictable celebration as a white male when female voices, voices of color, etc. go unheard; from here forward, he becomes a poster-boy for the aforementioned "lit-bro," mocked and scorned as a matter of course by the Millennial female literati.

In 2011, he publishes an essay in The New Yorker remembering David Foster Wallace that is rather too explicit in its literary oneupmanship re: his dead friend, casting Wallace as a cold and solitary Daniel Defoe to Franzen's warm-hearted Samuel Richardson, which is to say that Franzen, and not the depressed guy who hanged himself, is the rightful inheritor of the novel form.

In 2012, he compounds the "lit-bro" problem by publishing an essay on Edith Wharton in The New Yorker in which he dwells momentarily on the import for her fiction of her not having been especially pretty; it's a pitilessly realist remark in Wharton's own spirit, but try telling this to Twitter.

In 2015, he publishes his fifth novel, Purity, to a mixed reception; he also tells interviewers that he considered adopting an Iraqi war orphan and that he's never written a black female character because he's never loved a black woman; he additionally expresses, here and elsewhere, an inordinate environmentalist fixation on birds, and he further derides the internet in terms deemed "snobbish," both in interviews and profiles and in Purity itself, where the internet is likened to totalitarian communism.

In 2021, he publishes his sixth novel, Crossroads, the first in a projected trilogy, and everybody loves it; Franzen defends Black Lives Matter and makes vague feminist noises; Merve Emre interviews him with admiration and respect; and so far all remains well, except perhaps on TikTok...

(I used this article to refresh my memory—it has links if you really want to go down these rabbit holes—but the author left out the Ben Marcus article and Franzen's DFW piece, which I think damaged his reputation among even those who might have been his allies when he was getting attacked on Twitter or by, e.g., Jezebel.com. As for me: I started Crossroads but didn't finish; I love The Corrections; I like Purity; I dislike Freedom; and I haven't read his first two. I think there's a lot of talent there, talent marred by a simultaneous eagerness to please and then to lash out when people are pleased. He's not, on the whole, my favorite writer.)
