Opportunity - Rising Consumption of Instant Coffee
South Africa is witnessing substantial growth in its domestic instant coffee consumption. Instant coffee provides economical coffee alternatives compared to ground coffee, which entices consumers. It is easier to prepare and does not require specialized equipment, like a coffee machine or pots. Instant coffee particularly gained popularity during the COVID-19 lockdown with people working at their homes, which resulted in large consumption of instant coffee. As a result, many international coffee brands are launching their products at competitive prices, which is anticipated to drive their market during the forecast period.
Impact of Escalating Geopolitical Tensions on South Africa Coffee Market
The escalating geopolitical tensions hinders the growth of South Africa Coffee Market. Most of the coffee that is consumed in South Africa is imported. Geopolitical conflicts, on the other hand, influence coffee's availability and price by disrupting the supply chain and making it more difficult to import from coffee-producing nations. Due to greater transportation costs, these disputes also have a direct effect on local companies and customers through price increases. Additionally, geopolitical conflicts influence South Africa's diplomatic ties with coffee-importing nations, may have an impact on trade agreements, and may result in taxes or sanctions that might hinder the expansion of the country's coffee industry.

"The construction industry is further than politics"
Tumblr media
Energhy refurbishments like here in Meilen (CH) should be tackled much more frequently.
Building better is Bernhard Lanzendörfer's job. He says that technologically, net zero would not be a problem. What he thinks politics should do and why strict noise protection is a problem.
He began as a machine mechanic, became an engineer and later managed various foreign companies at the Swiss company Sika. Then Bernhard Lanzendörfer became CEO at Saint-Gobain[1], the Swiss offshoot of a large French construction company. He also chairs the Green Building CH association[2] and tries to put sustainable building on the agenda of the federal parliament and the cantons. With moderate success. Politicians are having a harder time dealing with the issue than the construction industry, he says.
After the turn of the millennium he returned to Europe, where sustainable building became a major topic. First of all, environmental friendliness meant the economical use of materials. This is also cheaper, which is why corresponding innovations in the industry quickly prevail. Lanzendörfer talks about "magic drops", i.e. small magical substances that are added to the concrete so that it still holds, even if the constructions become finer. Bricks were added later, with insulating material inserted into the holes. Today, buildings are completely wrapped in insulation materials, and electricity is also produced with photovoltaic elements in facades or balcony parapets.
Throughout his professional life he has pursued one goal: to enable better construction. This "better" has had several meanings over time. At first it was cheaper. That was in South Africa, where he ran a Sika offshoot after the apartheid era. The key word was low-cost housing: elements that could be put together to form a small house using a do-it-yourself method, but which had to be of good quality.
Buildings are an important factor in Switzerland's carbon footprint. Their share of emissions is almost 26 percent. The goal of net-zero emissions by 2050 has been decided and was confirmed by voters in June. But is it achievable? Lanzendörfer says: "If we continue as planned, we won't make it. We would have to at least double the speed of energy-related renovations.” In principle, that would be quite possible, because nowadays houses can be insulated without the occupants having to move out. But for the time being too little is happening.
If it were allowed to add another floor to a house as part of an energy renovation, the homeowners would do it of their own expenses - without subsidies, says Lanzendörfer. This also helps against the housing shortage that is now emerging in Switzerland. He also mentions another advantage: the insulation helps against the summer heat in the cities. Poorly insulated buildings trap heat within their walls. Once heated, the houses emit this heat back into the environment. They become heaters in an already hot city. On the other hand, if the facades are well insulated, the house does not even heat up.
The Saint-Gobain company initially made mirrors for the Palace of Versailles. Mirrors are made of glass, and the company has remained true to this glass processing. People want big windows, even if the interior heats up more easily. That's why Saint-Gobin started to build the shade directly into the panes. The former Modissa house[3] in Zurich was one of the first buildings to have electrotechnical window blinds.
The technologies for net zero would be ready, says Lanzendörfer. It's not a question of cost either. But there is no progress because countless construction processes are blocked across Switzerland. For example, because the law requires residents to be protected from street noise. Lanzendörfer finds this absurd, because energy-optimised buildings do not have to be ventilated towards the street.
Energy labels for buildings
What should politicians do in concrete terms to ensure that environmentally friendly construction moves forward? The construction expert believes that Parliament must first adapt the noise protection legislation. In addition, an energy label is needed for all buildings. He is surprised that this is a matter of course for cars, refrigerators and vacuum cleaners, but has so far not been an issue for buildings in Switzerland. The neighbouring countries introduced this long ago: “If you look into a broker’s shop window in France, you will always see the energy label next to the photo. It shows which category the property falls into.” In Germany, you even have to give this information to tenants.
Transparency is also needed in other respects. In addition to the heating, the materials used are crucial to the CO2 footprint of buildings. That is why it makes sense to declare whether recycled concrete was used in the construction. With a declaration requirement, construction companies would have an incentive to build more environmentally friendly. Technologically, it is no longer a problem to make new concrete with exactly the same properties from recycled material. But the building laws did not allow this everywhere. Instead of banning a proportion of recycling, the legislator should require it.
Bernhard Lanzendörfer's career will soon come to an end and he will retire. He remains active in the Green Building CH association. He will use the free time to win politicians over to his proposals after all.

Why Is A Brick Making Machine From South Africa An Effective Machine?
There are a great number of machines on the market today that will produce an array of several types of bricks. A number of them are standard bricks, whereas others are interlocking, each made in their own individual unique way. In the event you stay in South Africa, you can find good machines which are for sale, often for prices that are less expensive than every other manufacturer can produce. There are reasons that you can get these hot deals from South African companies. This is the reason you can save money with brick moulding machines for sale in south africa.
Tumblr media
What Sort Of Brick Making Machine In The Event You Obtain?
You may not realize the amount of brick making machines are created each day in several areas around the world. You can find different types for the wide selection of bricks that should be used on construction sites. For instance, should you be in an area of the world where earthquakes can be common, a unit that may produce interlocking bricks might be your best choice. Others would include those that use only fly ash, or maybe you require a standard solid brick making machine. This will depend on your market, the sort of bricks which you use regularly, and what you would like to make open to contractors which will buy them of your stuff.
Popular Types Of Brick Making Machines
A number of the most popular ones include hydraulic, interlocking, and ecological brick making machines. These are all produced by very large companies and can be acquired for exceptional prices. Other types include people who are fully automated, and you could get many of these machines from companies that are in South Africa. The businesses that provide the lowest prices are usually businesses that are sourcing their machines from companies in China.
Tumblr media
How Fast Can They Make Your Bricks?
As you glance at the specifications and information about each machine, people often look first at how quickly they could produce them. They will likely check out the forming cycle which is often around just a few seconds for brick. They will likely also look at the block output that may be several thousand per hour. Every one of these factors, for example the standing of the brick machine manufacturer it self, should be considered before paying for one of those. In case you are in South Africa, you are able to locate one of these simple firms that offers them for huge discounts that can be used for yourself or even to offer bricks with other companies.
The brick making machine that you simply eventually purchase in South Africa would be the outcome of comprehensive research that you can do. Whether you are with this country, or if perhaps you will simply prefer to obtain one as a result of good deal, they can talk to you in regards to the price tag of shipping as well. Make sure that the item specifications for your order are exactly the same as those who you saw on their website. Once you have verified everything, place your order and get ready to obtain a highly-designed brick making machine from South Africa.

The Voyage of the Thursday Princess
Up to three hundred years ago Europe was a happening place. Culture. Literature. Knowledge. Soaring cathedrals. Kingdoms bristling with warriors and weapons. But then something happened. Like a candle being snuffed out. The llamapox hit, along with polio, chagas fever, and the mould. Within a few years 98% of the population had died. The forests reclaimed the farms, the villages, even the cities. Skeletons were left scattered over the earth.
About the same time dozens of new foodstuffs appeared. Hot peppers. Chocolate. Corn. Potatoes. And potent medicines, rumoured to have come from Atlantis. Coincidence? Who could tell? Everyone was dead, and civilization had evaporated.
Africa wasn't hit as hard. It expanded to fill the vacuum. Within two hundred years all of Europe was split into colonies of Morocco, Ethiopia, and the Bantu Nation. Wales was now a wholly owned property of the Western European Trading Association. A company archaeologist who had been digging in Portugal found documents which suggested that Atlantis was real, it had been the source of hot peppers, and it had also been the source of the mould. The records of Atlantis were sketchy and fantasmic. Something about golden cities, living lights, and visions. Which brings us to the present day: I, David, a lowly Welsh slave, shoveling coal aboard an iron trading ship of the WETA flying the Bantu flag, setting off across the Atlantic to rediscover Atlantis.
Atlantis was a mythical evil we'd been taught since childhood. The laws against venturing West were still rigorously enforced. We set sail from Oko aboard the Thursday Princess with little fanfare. The cover story was that we were headed to Ireland. But where we should have hugged the coast of Africa and turned north, we took down the sails, fired up the boilers, and we continued due west. The iron ships had evolved naturally from the making and the defense from cannons. My iron boiler was a recent novelty from my own country. Messy, temperamental, often fatally explosive. But, combined with a screw, with the power to cross unheard of distances quickly. Our ship doctor had another forbidden preparation: a stash of malaria mosquitoes, tsetse flies, guinea worms, plague rats, smallpox blankets, and all the other nasties the company had been able to gather covertly on short notice.
The Atlantic knocked us about with its usual violence, but we plowed straight through it. What we didn't know, exactly, was how far Atlantis WAS. We knew the earth was round. About 25,000 miles in circumference. And we could account for about 10,000 miles of that. We had enough coal to drive us three months at 10 knots. If we were lucky, we could get there and back no trouble. Unlucky, we could just get there. Our crew was heavy on skilled slaves; our cargo heavy on war supplies and cannons.
To our great surprise, we made land after only three weeks. How could we be this close without there already being active trade routes? We hoisted sails and turned off the boilers. The land was low, sandy, with palm trees. To the south the land stretched east, so we'd actually sailed further than we needed to. We sent a landing party in, but they found no inhabitants. Campfires, paths, yes. Inhabitants, no. No wildlife larger than a squirrel, either. On the beach there was a pole with a board with squares of squiggles, and a cartoon of a campfire with a blue slash through it. The landing party planted the Bantu flag, claiming Atlantis in the name of the WEPA. The doctor let loose some of his nasties. They gathered some of the local plants. Then returned to the ship in hopes of finding a town. We followed the land southeast.
At dusk we saw more signs of habitation. Some huts, docks, boats and rafts. But no people. Suddenly, a thin glowing beam came from the shore, twisting slightly in the wind. It cut through our mast, which fell burning to the deck. People covered head to toe in white suits appeared from hiding, mounted rafts, and started paddling towards us. Our captain, a big black bald headed fellow, was yelling to the crew to fire the cannons. As soon as the gunports opened though, the beam appeared again, along with cries and awful noises from the cannon crew. It smelled like steak. A cannon let loose aimlessly, punching a hole in the dock. They closed the gunports, but the beam cut through the iron siding like paper. There was an explosion belowdecks. The captain issued new orders: retreat! We found, though, that our ship had been anchored. Crewmen started dropping like flies. I felt a prick, saw a dart sticking out of my arm, then everything went dark.
When I came to, I was tied up in a stone cell with a thick wooden door on iron hinges. A black-haired swarthy fellow with a wide mouth was squatting on a stool next to me, dressed in a white tunic and skirt with a rope around his waist. "You're being held as an accomplice to attempted murder," he said, in passable Bantu. "I expect it to be as an accomplice to actual murder shortly. You are NOT going back home, ever. Or at least until we've conquered you Aztecs. Now, do you have any questions? We've got all the time in the world."
I asked what Aztecs were. He said it was a general term for senselessly violent, but backwards, people.
After talking awhile they untied me and let me go. I was in a city like none I'd ever seen. Streets of yellow brick. Main thoroughfares with steps right in the middle of them. Houses crafted from living trees. Occasionally, a giant sloth, bigger than a house, that they'd bred for hauling. And their fruit! Their food! Indescribably good, and varied. And some food made you happy, or relaxed, or energetic, or sweaty, or have strange dreams. Whatever you wanted.
Pretty soon I had a smiling girl, Akna, hanging on my elbow, too. They even gave me apprentices to learn how to build and operate boilers. Good ones, too. Apparently, gears and engines had never occurred to them! Even though they had wheels and complicated manual devices. They'd always used manual power. I was able to give them a bunch of metal making tips too, since boilers are finicky that way. They'd never taken ships seriously either. Or carts. Or pulleys.
They had apparently tamed lightning, for that death ray we'd seen (it was lightning and metal shavings), and to make machines that could reason and remember, and to talk at great distances. Just the other day one of my apprentices brought in a lightning-driven engine they'd just put together. They were simultaneously proud, and apologetic they hadn't done it ages ago. This lightning craft is beyond me.
And they'd tamed life. They'd been expecting the doctor's nasties and could actually cure most of them. But what is more, they were able to breed new things almost at will. They were going on about cells and atoms, with pictures drawn by lightning, but so far I haven't followed. When the Portuguese first visited Atlantis, the visitors had seen fungus on rags that had been bred to glow bright enough to read for hours when the rag was soaked in sugar water. That was three hundred years ago. It would be child's play for them now.
It's been several years, and true to their word, they never let me go back. I don't know what happened to the rest of the crew. But why WOULD I go back? Back there, I was a cog in their machine. Here, they tell me to tell them stories and eat their roasted sloth. And I've got my Akna.

ALEXANDRA SHULMAN: I know the efforts aides made to make Meghan welcome. She didn't want their help
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-9334003/ALEXANDRA-SHULMAN-know-efforts-aides-make-Meghan-welcome-didnt-want-help.html
Before the Duke and Duchess of Sussex married, a professional creative, well used to the intricacies and diplomacy involved in working with Royal households, was interviewed for a role by Meghan.
A mutual friend ran into the candidate immediately after the interview and asked excitedly how the experience had been.
The reply did not sound encouraging. ‘Well. Let’s just say it was like The Devil Wears Prada. And I was not Meryl Streep.’
Judging by the bullying allegations that have now emerged in a leaked email from the Royal couple’s then communications secretary, Jason Knauf, this was not an uncommon reaction.
It turns out that Meghan did not want guidance or support, or certainly not of the kind she was getting. No, as we later learnt in her interview with Tom Bradby on the South Africa tour, she wanted to be asked how she felt
I have met Knauf many times and I have to say that he must have felt pretty hard-pushed to do something that could undermine any of his bosses.
With her beautiful son Archie, current pregnancy, dashing Prince, stonking commercial deals, Montecito mansion and now her global fame, you would think that the Duchess of Sussex might feel… job done.
What more could she possibly wish for? But as we will be hearing on her Oprah interview (and how I wish I was strong-willed enough not to watch it), that is very far from how she feels.
She is aggrieved. She is a woman much misunderstood. She was, until she was able to flee to Santa Barbara, a voiceless victim like so many of the abused women she constantly tells us she supports.
And who were these tormentors? Well, first up are, apparently, the British media, whom her husband has long also disliked. But a close second are those Royal courtiers and aides who peopled the world she was expected to operate in when she arrived to live here.
One of the striking things about Kensington Palace – the centre of ops for both the Cambridges and Harry when Meghan Markle moved in – is how very old-fashioned it is; think brick-walled cloisters, Jammie Dodgers and hunting prints, strangely muted and dim.
She is aggrieved. She is a woman much misunderstood. She was, until she was able to flee to Santa Barbara, a voiceless victim like so many of the abused women she constantly tells us she supports. Meghan is pictured above with Harry while the aide whose email exposed bullying claims is seen left
KP, as everyone calls it, is actually a labyrinth of small rooms and neatly proportioned apartments with battalions of young staff steering visitors around the corridors to their final destination.
Like many palaces, it is literally inward-looking with not much of a view and a little bit claustrophobic. As a confirmed California girl, Meghan no doubt found it so. And probably a bit depressing.
The staff who work at KP, like those at Clarence House and Buckingham Palace, are a hugely industrious bunch, happy to put in incredibly long hours for comparatively low salaries because they enjoy the status of working for the Royal Family. And they care. They care a great deal about protecting the Royals in every way, from organising the details of daily life to their image and security.
I remember meeting Knauf for the first time. He was a good-looking young American (a direct contemporary of Harry) wearing a formal grey suit and the requisite palace lanyard, and I found him quite daunting.
He didn’t seem big on small talk or even the smallest joke, and clearly took the view that this meeting was mine to lose. He was the one in control. As I got to know him better, I discovered he has a great sense of humour but, even off-duty, he was implacably loyal to his bosses.
The idea that he, or anyone working alongside him, would have had any interest in not supporting the incoming Meghan Markle as she tried to navigate this new world is simply not credible.
In truth, the opposite is true. Even before Meghan arrived, I know for a fact that the KP team were busy rallying a group of interesting and influential people who might be helpful and friendly to her in a new country.
They had learnt from the sad story of Princess Diana that letting a newcomer flounder in the somewhat archaic Royal pool, where they could feel isolated and unsupported, could be disastrous.
But herein lay the problem. It turns out that Meghan did not want guidance or support, or certainly not of the kind she was getting. No, as we later learnt in her interview with Tom Bradby on the South Africa tour, she wanted to be asked how she felt.
Knauf’s email raising concerns about Meghan’s intimidating behaviour came about after a growing number of complaints – all from women – in Kensington Palace.
At that time in 2018, the corporate world was finally beginning to take accusations of bullying and bad workplace practice seriously – and Knauf, an accomplished corporate professional, had his ear close enough to the ground to know that such things couldn’t be allowed to fester, even in a palace.
The decision to confront this toxic situation would have been nightmarish to make. The last thing Knauf would have wanted was the idea that he and his colleagues were ganging up against Meghan.
In addition, Harry and William were still linked by their joint foundation and a huge amount of behind-the-scenes work had been put into developing the notion of the two brothers as emotionally literate, empowering, modern Princes – and nobody wanted the whole thing to fall apart because of the new wife on the scene.
So, no doubt to begin with, allowances would have been made for Meghan being used to a different workplace culture. The serried ranks of polite young women in KP, with their unassuming clothes and understated make-up, all used to working quietly and cautiously in a certain way, may have appeared lacklustre to her.
But reports that staff were bothered by her sending 5am emails from her yoga mat, as if that were too demanding, would have been wide of the mark. Employees in the Royal offices know they have signed up for 24/7. Pretty well every day of the year. It’s less of a job than a vocation involving a big slurp of the Kool Aid and being prepared to put your own life on the back-burner.
Although we might think that we Brits have a more hierarchical culture than the Americans, the US workplace is far more status-led, with much more visible deference expected from juniors to seniors.
Meghan would have been used to the noisy can-do ethos of that arena in contrast to the measured but often more effective British approach.
In the States, at least until very recently, it was not uncommon for employers to scream and shout when they couldn’t get what they wanted – right now. Harry’s ‘What Meghan wants, Meghan gets’ admonishment, so jarring to our ears, would have been an entirely acceptable mantra in many an American institution.
But perhaps more difficult than a clash over working styles for the team who worked for Meghan, and possibly for Meghan herself, is that they seemed unable to provide her with what she wanted. Or even to know what that was.
What was clear though was what she didn’t want: being told what she could and couldn’t do.
I have always thought that an American woman I know found me patronising because, on our first meeting when she was new in town, I suggested places and people she might be interested in. She lost no time in telling me that she knew it all already. Meghan clearly felt similarly.
One of the striking things about Kensington Palace – the centre of ops for both the Cambridges and Harry when Meghan Markle moved in – is how very old-fashioned it is; think brick-walled cloisters, Jammie Dodgers and hunting prints, strangely muted and dim
Unlike the Princess of Wales, Meghan arrived on the scene as a woman in her 30s, with friends and connections, experience and opinions all bedded in. She knew what she liked and wanted, and had no interest in anyone thinking there might be any gaps where she would appreciate a bit of advice.
And unlike Catherine Middleton, who, by the time she married Prince William, had experienced years of living in the Royal goldfish bowl with its oxygen of protocol and precedence, Meghan would have been confounded by what might seem ridiculous prohibitions and rules.
Maybe it’s not surprising that she shot the hapless messengers, venting frustration on the team trying to help, and drove them away. Her lawyers deny bullying ever took place, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard a bully acknowledge themselves as such. Often they don’t even recognise they are doing it.
You have only to hear the way Meghan refers to The Firm (Prince Philip’s term for the working Royals), as if it were a cross between the Cosa Nostra and the Scientologists, to know that Team Sussex will no doubt regard the timing of the release of these accusations as directly targeting Meghan in revenge for the Oprah interview. And they may well be right.
But such is the Oprah machine’s build-up of the revelations of this interview (and let’s not forget one being broadcast as Prince Philip lies in hospital, which unless the Sussexes had rubbish lawyers, they would have reserved the ability to postpone), it was probably too much too expect, of even our usually buttoned-up Royals, to sit back and take it.
After all, they, like Meghan, are only human.
