Russia accelerates manufacture of Su-57 Felon fighters
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 19/07/2023 - 16:00in Military
Russia plans to increase deliveries of fifth-generation fighters to its armed forces, said Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
“It is planned to increase deliveries of fifth-generation fighters,” the head of the Russian government told a coordination council to meet the needs of the Russian armed forces on Tuesday.
He said that one of the board's priorities is to ensure that the state's purchase order is being implemented on time.

"For example, at the end of next month, aircraft manufacturers delivered another batch of new Su-35S aircraft to the ministry of defense. More aircraft are already being manufactured,” he added.
In addition, the prime minister added that Uralvagonzavod had already delivered its scheduled batch of T-90M Proryv and T-72BZM tanks.
"The company gained a considerable boost last year, more than tripling its production in the reported period. The armored vehicles they manufacture are particularly necessary to fulfill the tasks of the special military operation," he said.
The Su-57 (Felon by NATO classification) is a multifunctional fifth-generation Russian fighter designed to destroy all types of air, ground and surface targets. The aircraft has a supersonic cruising speed, intra-fuselage weapons, radio absorption equipment (a "stealth" technology), as well as the newest equipment on board. The intellectualization of the Su-57 systems allows them to assume part of the functions of the pilots, including piloting and preparation for the use of weapons.

Former BrahMos Aerospace Engineer Sentenced to Life for Spying for Pakistan's ISI
New Delhi, India (AP) - In a case that has sent shockwaves through India's defense and security establishments, a former engineer with the prestigious BrahMos Aerospace has been sentenced to life in prison for espionage and passing classified information to Pakistan's intelligence agency.
Nishant Agrawal, 52, was convicted Friday under the Official Secrets Act by a sessions court in Pune for sharing technical details about the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile program to handlers from Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). He had been arrested by India's counter-intelligence agency in 2021 after a long investigation.
"Agrawal met ISI operatives abroad and was in frequent digital communication with them, providing crucial details of the missile program in exchange for cash payments totaling over $90,000 over several years," said public prosecutor Ujjwala Pawar. "He intended to cause injury to India's national security and defense interests."
The BrahMos is a nuclear-capable, long-range ramjet supersonic cruise missile jointly developed by India and Russia. It is one of the most advanced weapons systems of its kind in the world and a key part of India's strategic deterrent capabilities. Protecting the program's confidential technical specifications is considered a matter of national security.
During the trial, prosecutors presented evidence that Agrawal had illicitly copied over 25,000 pages of classified documents before leaving BrahMos in 2017 after two decades with the organization. He shared design information about propulsion systems, navigation software, missile control and evasion tactics using encrypted communication channels.
In addition to the life sentence, Agrawal was fined Rs.50,000 and will serve an additional five years for violation of the Official Secrets Act. The prosecution had sought the maximum penalty, arguing the breach caused "unprecedented" and "irreparable" damage.
The sentence has been seen as a stern warning in India against any espionage or leaks involving the country's military technology and capabilities. The defense ministry called it an "abhorrent act of nation's trust." BrahMos Aerospace said Agrawal's actions represented a "single isolated" incident.
Pakistan's foreign office declined to comment on the specifics but said the neighboring country "has nothing to do with Agrawal's activities." Relations between the nuclear-armed rivals remain tense on multiple fronts.
Agrawal's lawyers have indicated they plan to appeal the sentence. The case has put a spotlight on the alleged insider threat within India's defense programs and the need to further tighten security protocols.

Indian Navy Successfully Tests BrahMos Missile With Extended Range of 900 Km
the Indian Navy declared the successful engagement of a land-based target at an extended range using the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile on January 24 . The test, conducted from a Rajput-class destroyer—either INS Ranvir or INS Ranvijay—featured images released by the Navy showcasing the missile launch. The BrahMos, a preferred offensive missile for the Indian Navy, undergoes frequent testing in various versions. Notably, the January 24 test demonstrated "extended range precision strike capability from combat & mission-ready ships" and coincided with a substantial area warning. A no-fly zone, with a maximum length of approximately 900 km, was in effect between January 24 and 25. This marks the longest-known area warning for a BrahMos missile test, strongly suggesting the missile's capability to reach ranges of up to 900 km.
