A different kind of New Year' Eve party: Weegee explained his photo: “On New Year’s Eve [1950], I went to a rent party in a cheap village flat. For fifty cents you bring your own bottle, your girl, squat on a bare wood floor, and share a few unusual sights."

“Greenwich Village Rent Party” is a quintessential example of this festive mood, capturing a shirtless young man balancing a bottle of hooch on his head while streamers fall in the background. Many of Weegee's favorite themes are present here; entertainment, the follies brought on by alcohol, raucous night life, and the curiosity of children.

This was the same year Will’s older brother, Lowell Stanton Lillibridge (my great-grandfather) helped settle the town of Burke, South Dakota where I grew up. KAM NA VEGAN JEDLO V SANTIAGU DE COMPOSTELA 

V rámci toho, že sa nám podarilo zakončiť púť do Santiaga o deň skôr než bolo v pôvodnom pláne ostal nám čas na spoznávanie nie len krás ale aj kuchyne tohto mesta.  

Mali sme len niekoľko hodín lebo večer už nám letelo lietadlo. Stihli sme však navštíviť tú najlepšie hodnotenú vegánsku reštauráciu v Santiagu. Celkovo ich tu majú 100% vegánske len dve a potom mnoho takých, ktoré vegan možnosti ponúkajú aj keď vegánske nie sú. A spoň teda podľa informácií na Happy Cow. Tú aplikáciu spomínam dosť často ale nedá mi to nedať jej kredit ktorý si zasluhuje. Vždy mi na cestách pomáha v hľadaní podnikov. 

KÁVA A CHLEBÍČKY v Café Bar Suso

Ubytovanie sme mali asi 10 minút od katedrály a preto sme si chceli nájsť aj miesto na kávu a raňajky niekde v blízkosti. Sadli sme si teda do prvej kaviarne, ktorá nám prišla sympatická. Ja som pôvodne nemala v pláne ani nič jesť no keď som uvidela ich raňajkovú kartu neodolala som.  

Na kváskovom chlebe podávali nasekané paradajky s olivovým olejom, na tom poriadnu dávku avokáda posypaného soľou a čiernymi sezamovými semienkami. Kamarátka si dala vegetariánsku variantu chlebíčka a tak môžem toto miesto odporúčať aj ak cestujete s neveganmi a nechcete aby celý deň bol iba podľa vašich preferencií. Aj keď ja mám v tomto šťastie a moje kamarátky majú radi aj vegánske jedlo a jeho ochutnávanie či už doma v pražských podnikoch alebo na cestách.  

NAJLEPŠIA VEGANSKÁ REŠTAURÁCIA V MESTE

Entre Pedras – To je názov reštaurácie, ktorú sme si na náš neskorý obed vybrali. Mali plno čo ma samozrejme potešilo. Človek chvíľu musí čakať ale aspoň vie, že po vegánskych jedlách je dopyt.

Podnik nebol veľmi veľký no aj tak sa skladal z dvoch miestností a vonkajšej terasy, ktorá sa nachádzala na priestranstve v uličke za reštauráciou. Tam nás aj usadili. Hneď ako sme si objednali nám len tak v rámci čakania doniesli predjedlo. Zadarmo. Malú misku letného cestovinového šalátu s cícerom. 

Menu sme dostali v podobe QR kódu vyrezaného do drevenej kartičky a tak sme si vyberali priamo v mobile. V rámci španielskeho textu sme si po rozkliknutí jednotlivých položiek mohli menu prečítať aj v angličtine.  

V ponuke mali predjedlá ako nachos a šaláty. Hlavné jedlá kde ste si mohli dať kebab, burrito či quesadillu a mnoho ďalšieho. A samozrejme dezerty.  

Kamarátka mala šalát s microgreens a nugetkami. Ja som mala fazuľové burito s kopou šalátu. 

Po jedle sme si dali kávu a sladké. Ja som mala niečo na spôsob krémovo smotanového dezertu s čokoládou a pyré z arašidového masla. Extra sladké ale aj extra dobré. Kamarákta mala čokoládový zákusok.  

Na Entre Pedras som aj pridala svoju recenziu na Happy Cow a tak ma tam aj pre ďalšie odporúčania môžete sledovať.

It's 20-something and I'm walking down the aisle. I've picked the music and my spouse is looking forward to whatever love song I've chosen for our special day.

Their face twists into bemusement as bohemian rhapsody starts playing, an unusual song for this occasion.

But this is just the start. Smiles and grins form on my guest's faces, all fans of queen. They're excited for a beloved song to play for this special day.

But everyone's faces drop, except mine and 1 of my sibling's, as the lyrics start. Because It's not freddy mercury singing...

It's William Shatner.
