Ok yeah, that was worth dragging my sorry carcass downtown for (genuine)
#Misadventures around PDX#But it was the first time in recent memory that I enjoyed being downtown#I find Portland's downtown to be opressively unfriendly to the point that it almost feels hostile#Besides Cleveland I've never had any other city's downtown give me that feeling of an increasingly cornered animal that has to get out NOW#But man ... tonight it felt alive. There was excitement & playfulness rather than the usual miserable atmosphere.#People were (mostly) polite and it felt more like a community than I've ever seen it - even in previous festival years#Art istallations were all over the downtown area with many in the nearly endless vacant store windows#Man ... it's gonna hurt when the festival is over and things return to 'normal'#Portland Winter Light Festival
