for some reason i literally picture lando to be such a clingy boyfriend idk. like you're trying to get work done or even doing something like reading your book, and he literally has to be attached at the hip to you, like with an arm around your waist or smth.

you're so right and you should speak on it !!! lando norris invented being a clingy bf , i'm so impossibly convinced . it's not enough for him to simply be in the same room as you , no . lando needs as much physical contact with you as he can physically get . he's a bit like a cat in that he doesn't care how much of a nuisance he's being , he will sprawl out across you and make sure that your personal space becomes his , too . you can't even be mad at him , cause when he looks at you with that toothy grin and lovesick eyes , all you can do is give in and let him pester you .

a good conversation involves variation. It never settles into sameness or boredom or the monotony of canned responses. It never rests in one place for long. This is the end of Becca Rothfeld’s essay “Our True Entertainment Was Arguing.” She makes the case that even in asymmetrical pairings (i.e. unequal in terms of wealth, status, authority, etc), people can still manage to love each other as equals like Elizabeth Bennett does with her social superior Mr Darcy. At least, romantic equality can exist in fiction if nowhere else. She writes that “the kind of equality necessary for love is the kind necessary to sustain conversation” and that these conversations “blaze on out of interest and internal momentum.”

Usually the first thing I do with a book I’m thinking of reading is to flick to a conversation and see if this author can write dialogue well. Of course repartee is critical to a love story, but it can often be disappointingly lacklustre, or worse, entirely absent like when the author resorts to "they talked about everything and nothing." Read @letteredlettered 's post about that being their biggest pet peeve because, as they point out, talking is the good stuff and, by opting out, the author renders unimportant the strange alchemy that occurs when you’ve met your match in conversation. As Rothfeld says, “the point is simply the crackle of talk itself.” The crackle is rare, in life and in fiction. But when it’s there, whether in tender admissions of affection or a strike-and-parry duel between two well matched opponents or just casual effortless banter, it’s BRILLIANT. It’s Lizzie and Mr Darcy, Veronica Mars and Logan, Lymond and Philippa, Buffy and Spike... and now we have Interview with the Vampire. A tv show that luxuriates in language, that is actually structured around dialogue.

Louis and Lestat’s relationship is unequal in a number of ways - the obstacles include race, wealth, age and experience and it’s abusive at times too. But one thing in their favour is that, when it comes to talking, they both give as good as they get and neither can outwit or best the other. Louis kills Lestat and carries on talking to his spectre because there’s still so much to say. A lifetime wasn't enough for them; maybe not even a vampire's eternity will be enough.

Coming from Murphy, Murphy, after everything they had been through, it made a very stressed out Clarke want to tear up. He had come such a long way, and the two of them understood each other now, being the one people would turn against if anything went wrong, being the one accidentally always there for the other when things went wrong. But after Mount Weather she deserved to be punished, she deserved to stay there in Polis, among people who thought of her as Wanheda and wanted to kill her to absorb her power, close to Lexa who was the reason she had been forced to kill everyone, far away from everyone she cared about. Except Murphy, apparently.

"No, you are not. You are not going to go back to Arkadia and tell everyone I'm fine and I'm working on a deal to finally have peace with the Grounders," she stated firmly, as if Murphy would respond to orders. She had to find a way to get him out of there before more people found out about him and tried to hurt him. She placed a hand on his arm, unable to look at him in the eyes - it was even stranger to be affectionate with him than with Bellamy - and squeezed gently. "Please. I can't... If they find you, they can use you against me. I'll do anything they want. I need to know you are safe, so I can do this right."

Dealing with those bullheaded morons of pirate captains is surely a challenge, especially for those who had been sailors before changing their paths. Superstitious and stupid bunch, I tell ya. There was more than one run-in with them that ended in one of them losing their pants in the not so amusing way. Well, not for them, but surely for me, but a cut belt will teach them to behave, hopefully.

do you want me to explode cause i will . maybe it’s a nice day outside , and so you’re resting your head against his bare stomach as you lay in the garden . you start lazily tracing shapes against his skin , and he looks down at you with an amused smirk at the tickling sensation . but then , when you turn your head and start to ghost kisses along each of the freckles littering his stomach and lower abdomen , it becomes less funny . he’s holding back groans , tilting his head back as he breathes deeply and tries to control himself . you can feel his muscles tense underneath you , knowing the exact effect you’re having on him , and it only makes it more entertaining
