One of my pet peeves is people taking art too literally. Like that thing where a book says a line was growled or hissed and someone goes lol they can't do that!!
#I've seen people do things like this with visual art too it's very annoying#But I watch a lot of reviews of bad books so i see a lot of this and yeah sometimes the descriptive language is trying too hard but not#always!!#I understand why things like saying something smelled like something that doesn't have a smell is off-putting for some people and some#authors do overdo it with that kind of thing but I get it. It's like that thing where people say purple and October are the same#Doesn't make sense but also I understand#It bothers me a lot more when people start talking about ''how could this character have hissed this when there's no sibilance??''#Because when a character is described as hissing it's about tone not going sssssss on every s is how!!#Anyways.
