When I was a child, we found one on the floor of a barn, a chick that had fallen from its nest apparently. We ended up taking him (her?) in and raising him for a short time, we called him "Peepers" because of his enormous eyes. They look rather strange when they're in adolescence, but we loved Peepers. We only had him for a short amount of time before we turned him in to a bird sanctuary to be raised properly. I understood why we had to do it, but I cried and cried. A truck is no place for an owl.
