#Atem is always a good comparison that brings out Yugi's softness

Atem's also a really good demo on how strong constrast and saturation can make a character look much more 'resistant'. I think because it visually connotes a refusal to blend into the background? And the sharp edges make them seem combative (If that makes sense). In turn, though, red is a shade of pink so, in that way, you establish a connection between the two. Man, I love such clear messaging. Even I (a stupid idiot) can understand it! Good work!
yeah i totally mirrored them on purpose hahaha

#tbf you didn't really mirror them#I know this because mirroring is a tool of sin and laziness#mirror that eye!#mirror that hand!#mirror that leg!#don't think about anatomy!#but here you are very much still thinking about anatomy#like you mirrored them but you did it in a way that completely lacks laziness#I am watching respectfully#anyway the pics are great#I like how softe the pink purple and blue colour scheme makes lil yugi#add in his huge eyes innocent grin and the lil blushies and you melt a thousand hearts#the sheer cuteness combined with the 'go get her' aspect of the card he's holding is striking too#in any case#regardless of whether it was intentional or not#this pic is a GREAT display of how juxtaposition works#Atem is always a good comparison that brings out Yugi's softness#a smirk is a smile and a beam is a smile#because of Atem#we know that a smirk is sharper shorter one sided and has the cheek#we know that it involves narrowed eyes and furrowed brows#then because Atem has a smirk we know that Yugi does NOT have a smirk#thus open brow#wide eyes and big smile is firmly established as beam#DIFFERENTIATION#Saussure would be proud#other displays I love include atems sharper hair (which is longer at the back)#and messier fringe (with the shorter jagged strand hanging over his mind crush forehead)#and the more saturated red shading (which make it look more dramatic)#plus the purple/red/yellow/ blue scheme is very punkish here
