Nia, Aerin, and Fashion
I'm having weirdly deep thoughts about this interaction explaining MC's final battle armor in book 2.

And like, I think Aerin was right.

But it's still so funny to me that that's how he contributed on this group project. I'm sure they could have figured out some last minute way to jazz it up with alchemy or something. But nope! Purely aesthetic.
I guess Aerin is an artist (it's unclear if he works in color, but we'll assume he does). He probably made the recommendation and then refusing to elaborate that blue and gold are completely colors and he wants MC to look cute.
And it makes sense that having grown up in the Temple, Nia hasn't developed the most fashion sense. She's never picked her own clothes! Even her accessories, while very cute, are designed to enhance her magic. And we know the crystals rare, so she probably rose the ranks and they went, 'Great, now add these assigned earrings to your uniform.'
I now really want to see how Nia and Aerin would dress themselves. Because we've only seen Nia in the (very pretty) priestess outfits and Aerin in outfits that were more or less assigned to him (I'm assuming he didn't have much say in how he dressed as a prince and the forest/prison picked his book 2 outfit).
Does Nia want to wear something more practical? Or does she gravitate to a pink sparkle aesthetic, function be damned? Would she want to symbolically incorporate more dark, Shadow-y elements after book 2?
Does Aerin want even more forest vibes to better match the goblins? Does he want to go full dark and brooding antihero (not that he's fooling us with that, but he can like the look)? Or after a lifetime of always wearing heavy robes and jewelry, is he like 'Put me in the medieval fantasy equivalent of jeans and a t-shirt'?
If you have thoughts, please share!
