According to the notice, “This photobook created based on Jimin’s own ideas, unveils different moods Jimin creates from the same costumes, the strength Jimin has discovered in himself, the meaning of light in his confusing consciousness, the moment Jimin’s inner self and persona finally met and his chaotic and finally, an immature journey to finding the true “me”.”
Jimin explained that the theme of the book is persona and that his white outfit aims to show his raw self.
On the “Color ; Freedom” set, you can spot an Apollo Belvedere head. One already appeared during the “Blood, Sweat & tears” performance at M Countdown on the 13th of October 2016 (so Jimin’s birthday).
On the “Black ; Come face to face” set, it’s a Diana of Versailles bust that was broken and reassembled with the kintsugi technique (an unbroken one was seen in the WINGS Short Film #7 AWAKE).
For the “White ; Intactly” part, Jimin and all the mannequins wear masks reminding of the Jackalope, a mythical jackrabbit with antelope horns.

This book was not released for the group’s birthday (namely June 13) but on the 11th of January 2023 so the 3500th day since BTS debuted.
According to the notice, “this photo-folio is a quintessentially BTS collection that brings together the seven members’ ideas and catalogs their memories together as a group. This photo-folio is a visualization of the past and the present of BTS!”
They filmed the K-retro Sports Day part at the now closed 지평초등학교-일신분교장터 (Jipyeong Elementary School-Ilshin Branch Market, it seems to have been renovated to be turned into a camping site and a filming location).
Here’s a translation of what’s written on the blackboard. The boys added things such as “RM”, “BTS”, “ARMY”, “I love you” and “BTS ♡ ARMY”:

The Self Camera theme slightly reminds of the VCRs for 花樣年華 on Stage: Epilogue while the K-retro Sports Day theme is similar to the concept they had for the 2017 Season’s Greetings. As for the part in the photobooth, a similar scene happens in “RUN” but the hat and scarf they wear is actually a nod to what Jin, j-hope and V wore during the 3rd muster while they performed chipmunk versions of their songs.

Now it’s Intuitive Machines’ turn to try making history with a robotic moon landing.Today’s launch of the Houston-based company’s Odysseus lander marks the first step in an eight-day journey that could lead to the first-ever soft landing of a commercial spacecraft on the moon. Odysseus would also be the first U.S.-built spacecraft to touch down safely on the lunar surface since Apollo 17’s mission in 1972.The lander — which is as big as an old-style British phone booth, or the Tardis time portal from the “Doctor Who” TV series — was sent spaceward from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station atop a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket at 1:05 a.m. ET (0605 UTC).Liftoff was originally scheduled for the previous night, but was postponed due to concerns that arose while getting ready to load methane fuel onto the lander. The concerns were resolved, and tonight’s countdown proceeded smoothly. After launching Intuitive Machines’ IM-1 mission, the Falcon 9’s first-stage booster flew itself back for a touchdown on SpaceX’s Landing Zone 1, not far from its Florida launch pad. Meanwhile, Odysseus separated from the rocket’s second stage and pressed onward to the next phase of its lunar odyssey.Last month, a different company called Astrobotic had been in line to achieve the first commercial moon landing, but its Peregrine lander suffered a propellant leak after liftoff — a setback that forced the company to cancel the moon mission and instead send the robot to its fiery doom during atmospheric re-entry over the Pacific Ocean.“Landing on the moon is extremely challenging,” Joel Kearns, NASA’s deputy associate administrator for exploration, told reporters in advance of Odysseus’s launch. “You’ve probably seen that, over the past year, success of every landing was never assured.” (Those landing attempts included failures by Russia and a Japanese private venture, as well as successes by the Indian and Japanese space agencies.)Intuitive Machines CEO Steve Altemus said he’s confident his company’s attempt will be successful. “We learned from others … but in addition, we bring things together quickly. We bring hardware and software together in the early stages of development and testing, and we test often,” he said during NASA’s webcast.“Test, test, test like we fly — that’s the key to success,” Altemus said.If all goes according to plan, Odysseus will power its way to a Feb. 22 landing in Malapert A, a crater near the moon’s south pole. The south polar region is a key target for exploration because many of its craters are thought to hold reservoirs of water ice — a potential resource for future moon bases.Like Astrobotic’s Peregrine lander mission, the IM-1 mission is principally supported by funding from NASA’s Commercial Lunar Payload Services program, also known as CLPS. The program is meant to leverage private enterprise — and reduce NASA’s costs in the long run. Kearns said NASA has agreed to pay as much as $118 million to have Odyssey deliver its science payloads to the lunar surface. Those payloads include cameras that will document the plumes of dust kicked up by the landing, an experimental radio navigation beacon, a radio-based fuel gauge, a laser range finder, a set of laser reflectors and a sensor that will study the moon’s electron plasma environment. Data from the experiments will help NASA plan for the Artemis program’s crewed lunar landings, which could start happening as soon as 2026.In addition, Odysseus is carrying an array of commercial payloads. One payload is a camera system that will be dropped off during the lander’s descent to take “selfie” pictures of the touchdown. Another payload is a mini-observatory that could capture pictures of the lunar surface and the first image of the Milky Way galaxy’s center as seen from the moon. There’s also a miniaturized information archive from Galactic Legacy Labs, a digital data storage device from Lonestar Data Holdings, a box of 125 marble-sized moon sculptures created by Jeff Koons, and a test swatch of thermal reflective material from Columbia Sportswear.Odysseus’s science mission is scheduled to last about a week. The end will come when the sun drops beneath the moon’s horizon, cutting off the solar-powered lander’s ability to charge up its batteries. But that won’t be the end for commercial moon missions: Intuitive Machines is already working on another lander that will drill for ice in the moon’s south polar region. Meanwhile, Astrobotic is getting set to send NASA’s VIPER rover to a spot near the south pole, and Firefly Aerospace is due to deliver 10 NASA payloads to Mare Crisium aboard its Blue Ghost lander. The post Intuitive Machines’ Odysseus Lander Begins Its Moon Odyssey appeared first on Universe Today.

50 Years After the Apollo 17 Mission, the Moon Looks Closer Than Ever

50 Years After the Apollo 17 Mission, the Moon Looks Closer Than Ever
Fifty years ago today, two men woke up on humanity’s last day on the moon.
Nobody would be back to the moon anytime soon. Plans for additional Apollo missions had been scrapped two years earlier, in 1970. A few minutes ahead of their scheduled wake-up time, two NASA astronauts, Eugene A. Cernan and Harrison Schmitt, called home from Apollo 17’s smelly, dust-strewn lunar module to croon “Good morning to you” down to Earth. Mission Control responded with a blast of “Also Sprach Zarathustra,” recently famous from “2001: A Space Odyssey,” the Stanley Kubrick film that imagined permanent lunar outposts and human journeys to Jupiter
Their formal goodbyes had already been delivered to the TV cameras. The only thing left to do was to work down a few prelaunch checklists, depart to meet with Ronald E. Evans in the command module and then head home to Earth. “Now, let’s get off,” Cernan said, and so they did, their craft climbing up from the moon’s gray desolation until it was lost in a black sky.
Clockwise from top left, Apollo 17 in view of its target during countdown on Dec. 7, 1972; likewise, Artemis 1 on the night before its launch on Nov. 14; Charlie Blackwell-Thompson, Artemis I launch director, in the firing room in 2019; Apollo 17 firing room team members cheering its launch in 1972. NASA
While many Americans in 2019 celebrated the 50 years after Apollo 11 first put Neil and Buzz on the moon, Wednesday’s anniversary carries more than a twinge of sadness for fans of space exploration. For a brief few years, the Earth and moon were linked by a bridge built through ingenuity, technology and vast sums of taxpayer money.
A few men — only men, only white, all of them except for Dr. Schmitt from the U.S. military — had walked the narrow path across the cold and black and lived to tell the tale. Countless imaginary space futures had blossomed out from this point: spinning space stations, boots on Mars, humanity reaching toward the edge of the solar system. Then it all went up in one last plume of rocket exhaust.
This year, though, the anniversary of the Apollo 17 mission came twinned in time with a new set of lunar imagery in eye-popping high definition. A new NASA mission called Artemis I — Artemis being Apollo’s twin sister, in Greek myth — had finally jetted off to the moon last month with a few mannequins aboard. Once there, it orbited without landing and then sailed home without a hitch, plunking down safely in the Pacific on the same day, Dec. 11, that Schmitt and Cernan had touched down on the moon for the last time, a half-century earlier.
Artemis 1 didn’t land astronauts, and its expected follow-up, Artemis II, will only send a crew of four around the moon and bring them home. But these missions start the path for Artemis III, which should bring a new human crew down to the lunar surface later this decade, this time carrying a woman and a person of color. From a symbolic standpoint, at least, the message was clear: At long last, we’re really on our way back.
Clockwise from top left, the view of Earth during Apollo 17’s translunar coast; Orion unfurling its solar array on Nov. 16; Orion separating from its interim cryogenic propulsion stage; Orion taking a selfie; Apollo 17’s command module seen from the lunar module; ice and particles surrounding the lunar module during the transposition and docking maneuver.NASA
Apollo 17, like Artemis I, launched from Earth at night. It was a fitting setting for the figurative twilight of the Apollo program. “If this was a novel, it would be a scene that would be too ham-fisted,” said Lois Rosson, a historian of science at the University of Southern California.
That symbolism wasn’t missed, seven miles off what was known at the time as Cape Kennedy, where a cruise ship laden with space-age-era luminaries — the writers Isaac Asimov, Robert Heinlein and Norman Mailer, alongside scientists like Carl Sagan, Frank Drake and Marvin Minsky — had assembled as a focus group on the future of space exploration.
Many of these attendees felt Apollo’s cancellation showed the pitfalls of letting the government drive space exploration. The Vietnam War, the struggle against poverty and sagging public support had all placed Apollo and the grand designs of space enthusiasts in the cross hairs of Congress and the Nixon administration. Perhaps a more private, corporate space effort — not unlike SpaceX, which would emerge in the 2000s under Elon Musk — would be a better model.
“That’s where the seeds of that ideology first get planted,” Dr. Rosson said.
Clockwise from top left, the Apollo 17 astronauts Eugene A. Cernan, left, and Ronald E. Evans; the Artemis 1 crew commander Moonikin Campos; Orion’s final close approach to the moon on Dec. 5; Orion on Dec. 5 in an image taken from a camera mounted on one of its solar arrays; Apollo’s command and service modules during rendezvous on Dec. 14, 1972; the Copernicus crater, as seen by Apollo 17. NASA
On the moon, the astronauts had jobs to do. Apollo 17 hauled back more rocks than any other mission. At one point, the astronauts drove their lunar rover a record-breaking, terrifying-when-you-think-about-it 4.7 miles away from the sanctuary of their lunar module. In Dr. Schmitt, they also had the only trained geologist ever to walk on the lunar surface. “Nothing like putting yourself to sleep thinking about unrealizable dreams,” he wrote later, describing his state of mind after the last moonwalk.
The samples they and the preceding Apollo astronauts ferried back became foundational for lunar science. These rocks helped show, for example, that the moon probably formed after an extremely violent collision between baby Earth and another protoplanet. Lunar rocks from Apollo 17 also hinted that future astronauts might be able to hunt down resources like water and titanium, said David Kring, a planetary scientist at the Lunar and Planetary Institute in Houston.
Entire scientific careers have started and ended waiting for a successor mission like Artemis. “I have several colleagues who are just a little bit older than me, and they’ve had to retire before they see this,” Dr. Kring said.
Clockwise from top left, an “earthrise” seen by Apollo 17; Orion’s own “earthrise” on Dec. 5; the moon’s surface, as seen by Orion; Orion splashing down in the Pacific on Dec. 11; Apollo 17 splashing down on Dec. 19; Apollo 17’s own close-up view of the moon.NASA
Hope is now rising. Not that everyone loves Artemis; we have, of course, been to the moon before. The current plan to return dates to the Trump administration and was presented by President Donald J. Trump along with the idea of always putting America first. President Biden has embraced that timeline and framework, too.
The post-Apollo debate over who should lead space exploration rages on, too. Artemis I rode to space on an over-budget, oft-criticized megarocket built through NASA’s traditional model of managing private contractors. Artemis III, meanwhile, is booked for a moon landing on a new spacecraft under development using a commercial approach at SpaceX. Mr. Musk’s company has received contracts worth billions of dollars to provide lunar landers.
A half-century later, disagreements persist about why we go to the moon. Or how. Or whether we should even try. Yet it’s hard to see the new imagery and not feel something.
Apollo 17’s liftoff from the lunar surface on Dec. 14, 1972, the last time a human visited the moon.NASA
After lifting off, the Apollo 17 astronauts orbited the moon, then burned fuel to begin the trip back to the blue-green marble rising above the lunar horizon. It had been an unseasonably warm December in 1972. At that time, freshwater dolphins still swam in the Yangtze River, golden toads still hopped through the cloud forests of Costa Rica and there were more than two northern white rhinos alive.
Fast-forward 50 laps around the sun, when Artemis I captured a similar view during its last close approach to the moon before heading home, albeit of a crescent Earth another degree Fahrenheit hotter and with four billion more people. Engineers on the ground paused, gawking. “We just sat there and absorbed what we were looking at for about a minute, and the room was just absolutely silent,” said Mike Sarafin, the Artemis 1 mission manager at NASA.
“Some of what we’re living right now, with our brothers and sisters from Apollo, is that they’ve shared wisdom with us that we’re just now really appreciating,” Mr. Sarafin said.

Sims Mobile Adventures. Part 27: New Year, New Wallpaper!?
As planned, Artemis asked her family to go with her in a New Year Party. Alexandros opted to stay behind as security.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dmitri insisted on staying behind (in order to monitor the coup) so Alexandros awkwardly had to come up with Plan B.
Tumblr media
Dionysus had the get together all planned. First and foremost, the family celebrated Christmas and New Year on Diana’s friend’s house. They exchanged presents under the tree.
Tumblr media
Diana and Artemis played darts in the spirit of competition. Diana beat Artemis in every turn. Even hitting the target without looking!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Diana even had a picnic with her good friend whose name I can’t pronounce since it’s Slavic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then Dionysus took his daughter Diana with him for the New Year’s Countdown.
Tumblr media
Afterwards, Nikita and Artemis went shopping together while Dionysus and Diana went for a father and daughter date. Dionysus got a haircut and then he wore the teal coat that Diana got for him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The father and daughter duo went for a stroll in the Downtown. They unexpectedly encounter Dmitri and Nikita.
Tumblr media
They overheard the plans that Bernadette had to overthrow Dionysus by changing his wallpaper.
Dionysus: What is the meaning of this Dmitri!? Bernadette had been scheming against me all this time and I’m the last to know!
Tumblr media
Dionysus: What if your siblings get hurt? How am I going to deal with the problem if I don’t know?
Dmitri: Father, they are just changing the wallpaper and sitting on your throne! That’s it. No one needs to be hurt.
Tumblr media
Dionysus: And they think they will overthrow me just like that? Tell me Dmitri, when are they planning to do it?
Dmitri: Err…when we leave the house? That’s why Alexandros stayed…
Tumblr media
Dionysus: Then we don’t have enough time! Let’s get there before they ruin even more of my wallpaper!
Tumblr media
And so Dionysus and his family rushed towards their home. In there, Bernadette and her household was in the midst of her plan.
Tumblr media
Dionysus: Stop right there Bernadette! Don’t you paint any more of my wallpaper green! Do you know how much effort it was, just to set it up!? What are you even doing anyway? Do you think you can steal MY throne with this sort of annoying prank!?
Tumblr media
Bernadette: The throne wasn’t even yours the first place! I am the daughter of the Second Earl, therefore I have the right to be sitting on this throne.
Dionysus: Wait what…you think that Damian is your father??? And Vivian is your mother?
Tumblr media
Bernadette: Yes, and what about it?
Dionysus: You do know that they’re siblings right? From the same mother and father even! Are you saying that you’re a product of incest???
Tumblr media
Bernadette: Wait what? Then who is my real father?
Dionysus: I don’t know! All I know is that Damian wouldn’t do such a thing to his own sister.
Dionysus stood there in shock from hearing his niece’s perspective. The other members of the family phase around awkwardly. It seems that only Bernadette didn’t know the common truth.
Nikita steps forth between them.
Nikita: Actually, I know your real father.
Tumblr media
Bernadette and Dionysus: You know!?
Nikita: Of course, I know. I keep the records now that I’m the Countess. Vivian is your real mother while your father is…ehem it’s better if I show you.
Nikita: You can come out now…Alessio.
Tumblr media
Nikita: You’re not just my niece by marriage but also by blood. My brother, Alessio, is your real father. So I guess that makes you still in line for the throne…after my children that is.
The coup attempt failed terribly since Bernadette lost a legitimate claim to the throne. And so she faces her Uncle Dionysus for judgement in a now repaired throne room.
Tumblr media
Dionysus: The meeting is in order! May I know the reason why you tried to take the throne?
Bernadette: You have caused great injustice to the Dawkins Line. The moment that Dad- I mean Uncle Damian passed away, you banished me. I thought I was the rightful heir so that’s why I tried to take over.
Dionysus: Hmm ok… that sounds about it. I will address your concerns one by one. (1) I did not “banish” you, I sent you to the Dawkins territory to train you for leadership and management of our farther lands. It may not be convenient for you, but it was done to mold you into a better person and NOT out of hate.
Tumblr media
Dionysus: (2) I didn’t separate Artemis from her husband for no reason. I needed Artemis for the quest and it will be easier to manage her if she was in my house. The house that Vikram lives in is not yet suitable for raising a family. I promise this situation is not permanent.
But I have to apologize…a lot of my actions has not been sensitive to your feelings. I should have told you earlier. We can work through this Dawkins and Kiramman one step at a time. After all, we are all descendants of Victor.

Honestly the one thing I would miss about Twitter is that it’s the easiest place to get immediate NASA (and other space programs) news/updates. Separate teams/missions/etc have their own accounts and I don’t have to do much hunting for info. If I missed something on the Artemis 1 launch livestream, for example, I could go to the Twitter account and see that they’d posted an update on why the countdown was halted.
There are of course other places you can go looking for news, but Twitter has an immediacy I’ve been spoiled with. The above is a very specific example relevant to my personal interests, but I’m sure it applies to a lot of other things as well—Twitter is just the easiest place to find immediate news updates.

NASA calls on “red crew” to fix leak near mostly fueled Artemis moon rocket
NASA calls on “red crew” to fix leak near mostly fueled Artemis moon rocket
NASA’s Space Launch System moon rocket relied on advanced guidance algorithms, powerful cryogenic engines, and millions of lines of software code to get it off the ground for the first time Wednesday. But “there are also times when you’ve just got to put a wrench on a nut,” NASA’s Artemis ground systems program manager said. That’s what NASA did in final hours of the Artemis 1 mission’s countdown…

wednesday november 16th
8:12 am
this morning i am in the library yet again, i was tied between writing this post or reading but decided this was more important to me.
its their birthday today, i found out yesterday so i didn't have time to make them a card (i could i suppose go into the art room and do a quick collage card at lunch)
ive always loved people with november birthdays the most (to my detriment) so finding out his birthday is in november is... its not a bad thing, it just makes me melancholic. it makes me think of people and friendships that i should be long moved on from.
in other, better, news: Artemis 1 launched last night, i felt like a little kid huddled up in my blankets watching the countdown soaking up all the info i could. actually while typing that i got distracted and did a bunch of research. space has been a thing that has fasinated me for years and years.
gotta go will talk later

NASA's Mega-Moon Rocket Finally Blasts Off
NASA’s Mega-Moon Rocket Finally Blasts Off
The countdown for the launch of NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) moon rocket officially began just over 48 hours before the six massive engines on the 32-story rocket at last lit at 1:47 a.m. ET this morning, muscling the 2.6 million kg (5.75 million lb.) machine off of launch Pad 39B at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, and hurling it moon-ward. Artemis I update for 7:50 p.m. EST:
Worth noting for the record that the core stage is fully loaded with its liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen. No leaks reported. Upper stage loading is happening now. So continued good news.
Artemis I update for 7:40 p.m. EST:
All is well with the countdown for the launch at 1:04 a.m. EST tonight. I see others have posted a few updates as well. I am now free from other activities and am "on console" for the duration. I'll try to provide updates and be happy to answer any related questions.
Meanwhile, some personal thoughts: This feels like this will be the night, but none of the tanking tests or previous launch attempts fully exercised all that needs to happen within the final minutes, and even seconds, of the countdown. So, that makes me a little nervous.
I'm also nervous about the solid rocket boosters, simply because they have been stacked for so long and are within a few months of their maximum certified limit. Plenty of other places where bad things can originate -- looking at you main engines -- but the SRBs have me a little spooked. I was very trusting of them following Challenger given all the fixes, but tonight? I'll be glad when they separate.
