Absolutely!

Cross, ever the guard and stoic dude he is, follows from afar. Not noticeable, but tracking every movement your kidnapper makes. His colouration doesn't quite always help him to fit into his surroundings, but still manages to get relatively close. The only warning your kidnapper will get is the angry wail-hiss that petrifies all people before the kidnapper has been cut in half and you're hoisted up into Cross' arms.

Horror is hunting them down. Immediately. He doesn't care- he knows he's faster than your kidnapper, so in all reality, they never really stood a chance. He's an intimidating figure- larger and stronger than his other counterparts.

And a lot more feral.

Taking Horror's mate is worse than a death wish. He'll tear your kidnapper apart piece by piece until they're barely hanging onto life and then and only then will he apply his withering magic and let them die.

On a scale of “feasible with some minor dismemberment” to “Will require too many respawns to be worth it” are the Witherborn boys dateable as a human?

Depends entirely on who you're talking about!

Really depends on just how devoted you are to them, because they do remember scents and SOUL frequencies, so they'll know it's you.

Classic is probably "run for your life a couple times but you'll get away mostly without injury"

Red is probably "yeah you could do it- just expected to be attacked a couple times (I hope you have netherite gear and some pretty damn strong shields and God Apples if you want to live though)"

Dust is very likely closer to the whole "you will die several times, but eventually he'll just get tired of it and let you hang around (aka, he likes you)"

Nightmare, though, is very near the edge of "Will require too many respawns to be worth it."

So is Error and also likely Killer, but everyone's worth it if you hang around for long enough.

Info about Witherborn under the cut

Witherborn are a primarily landborn species that reside in the Nether Realm. They are often territorial and possess a kind of unusual, fear-inducing aura to any species that may get too close to them– even if the Witherborn shows no sign of violence.

They are mainly known for their intimidating height (averaging around 9’8”) and their very long, incredibly sharp tails with edges poking up like daggers. They’re essentially an extension of the Witherborn’s spine and look as such. Their claws and feet are as sharp as knives. Their teeth, often hidden and appearing as if they are flat, are about as sharp as a razor.

Witherborn mostly wear baggy pants and a cloak/cape with golden accessories here and there. Their most prominent decoration is the skull of whatever they primarily hunt that sits on their shoulder. What they hunt may not be their food source, but simply sort of like a game.

Under their sockets, two slits may sit. These are actually eyes and open up when the Witherborn is feeling aggressive.

Their senses are impressive, too– and like a Polar Bear, if you see them on the horizon, it’s likely they’ve been tracking you long enough to premeditate the hundreds of ways they could shred, rip, sever and tear your fragile body to pieces.

One of their species, most commonly used abilities is that of levitation.

This is often seen when they "perch" on their tail when they are in a relaxed state.

Classic is. . . usually just a chill guy. Doesn't really lash out, not super territorial, but if you're in danger? This silly guy is pissed. The fact that your life is on the line worries him, sure, but he's hell of a lot faster than any measly human. He probably waits until the kidnapper is near their nether portal and then he strikes. I'd imagine there's quite the bloodbath.

Red is immediately pissed off. His keen senses pick up on the panic and worry radiating from your SOUL and he tracks you down instantly. If you're being actively threatened at that point he may silently stay in his festering rage for a bit until he sees an opening. The kidnapper dies, and you're going to have trouble leaving him for at least a day.

Dust is elusive- far more sneaky than any other out there- so he'll be right behind your kidnapper before anyone realises it. It's an absolute bloodbath, and Dust will keep them alive long enough to feel their limbs burning off from the lava he slowly dunks them into.

Killer is a sneaky little shit. Key words being: Little Shit. He'll probably turn up all nice and curious and non-threatening until your kidnapper turns their back and suddenly, they find themselves launched into a pit of lava.

Ok, I have a bit of a strange question, but I made a skulk-based oc who lives in the deep dark and isn't completely human, and kinda just... yoinks players' stuff when they die? Like some kinda crow or something.

How would the witherborn (assuming there's already an established relationship) react if she passed out from heatstroke or something? (She lives in a cave, she's used to the cold so yeah she's not having a good time lol)

A very big and broad question- definitely nice seeing asks like this come through, though. You get the ones off of the top of my head

Killer is initially alarmed. He doesn't live in a SOULsand valley like the majority of the others- the nether (hell, even the desert) has to be hell for you. He's immediately grabbing you and either getting through a nether portal or sprinting at top speed towards a SOULsand valley to keep you cool. While he keeps up a charming and suave and uncaring bravado (and he cannot feel remorse or empathy), that doesn't stop him from being like "oh. oh fuck."

Dust sort of blinks twice before tilting his head and trying to figure out a way to cool you down. This... actually quite likely ends with you in his arms because, unlike the others, he is very cold to the touch. Not so much that it'd shock you and hurt (due to the contrast between heat and cold) but to the point where it may be... slightly uncomfortable? He'd be getting you to a deep dark as soon as he could- not that he's exactly well-travelled in the overworld.

Lust would likely immediately freak out and help you as well as he could. He can't say he's great at dealing with species he's unaware of- but he's trying his best. He lives deep in the warped forest, so the temperatures are slightly cooler there, but the best thing is, is the fact he has a nether portal right next to his house.

Ccino you wouldn't have met in the nether- so you'll be in a desert. His immediate reaction is actually to simply burrow underground to the much, much cooler cave systems and bring you what you need in order to aid you in your recovery. Any mob that decides to fuck around will find out.

Carrion (Birdtale Sans) has immediately dumped fire res on you and scampered to take you into the overworld once more. He's cursing under his breath about your antics- why the hell you went to the burning fire hellpit that he lives in when you're almost a creature belonging to an opposite environment. In reality, he's just really concerned.

How does one go about courting or being courted by Witherborn? I figure it be quite a messy process, seeing as most of the boys hunt humans.

Witherborn Courting is. . . weird. There's no specific or definite beginning-to-court traditions; or anything that was meant to be there hasn't been documented by any human source.

In all actuality, the courting ritual is quite simple. You give the other a weapon. This can either be by lodging it in their body somewhere (aka, you were attacking them and it got stuck) or it can be gifted by hand (much preferred).

It has to be returned, and the blade/axe would be required to be made out of netherite.

If returned, the one who has been gifted the blade (usually the Witherborn in most occasions when it comes to interspecies relationships) will then either give a sharp spine from their tail in response- or a wither rose.

Marriage is a lot more easy and simplistic.

But again; traditions will change from Witherborn to Witherborn, as they are no longer pack creatures.

Random Witherborn Fact:

They like to nibble on shit. It's actually part of their whole affection-giving. Mindless lil' nibbles that don't even leave a mark. Teething, essentially, but never enough to cause any harm.

Their teeth are definitely weapons- more than capable of shredding, tearing, severing and dealing out the withering affect- but they're often more likely just going to be used to chew on things.

Cross is one hard guy to find if he doesn't want to be found. he's really, really sneaky. But for you? He leaves obvious trails to where he's around. Only for you, though

Killer's a gremlin and will absolutely yoink you and take you across a pit of lava while levitating purely for the funnies and so that the two of you can vibe. He also carries protected water around on him 24/7 for you.

Dust, usually, is very very reserved and more of an observer than anything else

And when he does like someone, it comes off as hatred because for once in his life he's experiencing emotions that he never has before

Which means he's going to be glaring at you as he desperately fights and strangles the emotions inside of him

He's a pathetic pretty boy that would rather forgo his lava invulnerability and jump into the ocean of fire sitting at the edge of his territory than admit he gives a fuck
