Incredible update: not only has the seller offered to send a replacement, but upon reassembling my phone, the headphone jack started working again. IT WAS A LOOSE CONNECTION THE WHOLE TIME!!!
(I was considering getting 2 to have a replacement on hand to decrease inoperable downtime (I do this with my cables and mice) and ultimately decided against it because of cost. Literal ideal outcome omg)
I have no idea why people send parts that don't match the listing. "aaaah looks close enough" my brother in christ it does not fit what I bought it for and is unsuitable as a replacement part! It's not likely that the buyer won't notice!
#tetranymous.txt#I assumed it was a broken contact; because that's pretty much how my original one behaved that definitely had a contact ripped out of it#I mean; a broken solder joint/contact is TECHNICALLY a loose connection depending on how broken it is#Anyways I've got another cable I need to stick down lol. Probably came loose when I dropped it (might of had adhesive originally?)#Might get some wider kapton tape and do the front and back panels too to help with the adhesive problem#Oh yeah another upside was that since I had to repaste I could use my MEGA GOOD STUFF. The same one I used on my Thinkpad that dropped#its temps 10°c from that change alone. I've been meaning to put it on my phone for a while#If you have any experience with xperias (heh) you'll know that they all LOVE to overheat. Not kidding they only fixed it within the past#4 or so years! I almost had my phone melt itself when pokemon go opened by accident without me knowing. Had to cool it for 40 minutes#It's been fine since I repasted it last w the exception of the camera (shuts off to cool down) but that's easy to cope with#And pokemon go no longer supports my OS so I don't have to worry about that anymore
