Huh, this recent video of mine doesn't seem to be getting many views. Typical, I try something new with a video, using a popular show from the last decade and it gets little notice. Might as well post it here, maybe that'll help.
I made this in honour of gaining 100 subscribers. It took me a decade but I've done it. While it is a milestone in and of itself, I know of other YouTubers that have achieved that goal in one year let alone 10. I don't know if it's me, or if people are just not interested. But I've never gone out of my way to please all the people all the time, nor have I tried any tactics or gimmicks to appeal to the masses. But rather, I've been more concerned with keeping my work consistent in their quality. And I have to thank anyone who has watched and followed me for all these years, it really has lifted my spirits whenever I felt ignored. Now I've achieved this goal, I should do a special project to honour it. It should be something different, that I've not done before.
For all this time, I've made videos using footage of cartoons I've watched in my youth, but some of you may be wondering if they're any recent animated shows I like. Of all the animated shows to come out in the past decade, my favourite one would have to be Adventure Time. You can keep your 'Steven Universe' and 'My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic', but this show about a young boy and his magic talking dog in a fantasy world really opened my eyes. After an era where children's cartoons weren't as talked about as they used to, and Cartoon Network became a shadow of what it once was, here comes this show to bring hope and justice to the medium. With its simple but cute designs, strange humour, memorable characters, deep lore and complex themes, Adventure Time managed to become a phenomenon among viewers of all ages, by pushing the boundaries of what is acceptable in children's entertainment. This show has managed to win it's way into my list of favourite cartoons, as it showed me that modern animation can still achieve great things. It put me out of the notion that cartoons weren't as good as the ones I watched in my youth.
One of the aspects that makes Adventure Time stick out among other cartoons from the 2010s, is that it has episodes that are animated in a different art style. And I don't mean segments in a single episode, I mean full 10-minute episodes directed by guest animators. One of these experimental episodes (and the most well-known of them) is 'Food Chain'. Directed by Japanese animator Masaaki Yuasa, this is an episode has Finn and Jake explore the food chain. I decided to put each sequence in the chronological order of the chain into an AMV. It should make sense for an out-of-the-ordinary episode should be the subject of a video that's out of the ordinary. Anyway, I like to thank you for helping this channel reach such a stage. I hope to reach 100 more, so this channel will keep getting stronger (lord knows it's the one thing I need to support me). You people are all mathematical!
Adventure Time belongs to its respective owners and creators.

The idea that people are mad about this continues to boggle my mind. The whole point of being queer is that there are no gender rules you have to follow to follow. You can gender how ever you want, you can change things up, explore. Butch and femme are categories based on behaviors, they're descriptive, not proscriptive.
When I saw Ruby in her dress and Sapphire in her suit, that was the message I thought they were conveying. That these characters had new facets (haha gem pun) of their identities that we were exploring. Sometimes butch people want to feel femme. Sometimes femme people want to feel butch. Even if they're Butch™ and Femme™
What kind of Terminally Online Tumblr Baby do you have to be to be mad about that?
Bad-faith discourse about queer media can best be summed up by Steven Universe airing the first-ever queer wedding in children's programming and everyone still calling it "bad representation" because they put the butch in a dress and the femme in a tux.
(Never mind that it was done so that censors couldn't rework the butch character into a man during localization, as had been happening to the character previously.)
#Look at me ranting about people mad about historic moments in representation because they have no sense of the long road TV has come#In the 90s Will and Jack could kiss each other as a joke but they weren't allowed to kiss their romantic interests#They did a whole episode about that policy that is seared into my mind#This rant oughta be it's own post#Anyway you don't have to like Steven Universe but you should respect the milestones it fought hard to set#And go watch 200 hours of kids cartoons from the 80s to the present day to see how far we've come#Steven Universe#i contributed
