airsLLide No. 6707: F-GHVM, Boeing 737-33A, Air France, Basel/Mulhouse, March 1, 1992.
It is just an Air France Boeing 737, but on second thought, not an ordinary one. Air France had acquired 17 Boeing 737-200s from the manufacturer from 1982 onwards, and later complemented these with 32 Boeing 737-500s, but the -300 was a less common sight with Air France. The French flagcarrier added seven units between 1991 and 1998, leased from GE Capital Services and Ansett Worldwide Aviation Services, but as the Airbus A320 offering a similar, slightly bigger capacity was already joining the fleet in large numbers from 1988 on, they remained niche players. Still, they stayed with Air France for five to ten years, depending on year of build and individual airframe history.

airsLLide No. 7398: C-FDQQ, Airbus A320-211, Air Canada, Toronto-Pearson, June 1, 1992.
Air Canada can be found among the early users of the Airbus A320, partly also thanks to events halfway around the globe: C-FDQQ was actually part of an order by Ansett Airlines of Australia, but with Australian deregulation of the airline industry in 1990, the purely domestic carrier decided to change its strategy towards introducing international flights and decided not to take up two of the early produciton A320s it had on order.
Thus, instead of becoming VH-HYI as planned, Airbus A320 msn 059 became C-FDQQ with Air Canada, or as her fleet number '201' indicates, the very first of 68 A320s ultimately flying the maple leaf in its tail. When she was delivered to Air Canada, the carrier was in the middle of the process of replacing its classic livery with the single, bold red line by a more vivid adaption not only featuring a second burgundy line, but also a somewhat brighter hue of red.
In my opinion, it was a livery that fit the various fleet members of AC well, and thus it is a bit of a pitty that it was so short-lived. The carrier switched to an Eurowhite fuselage with a midnight blue tail in 1993 already, a mere five years after the introduction of the design above.
