Ambertale: A Day in the Life of Sans (Part 1)

TW: Bomb mention, war

The skeleton was laying on his bed, sleeping. This wasn’t unusual for him, for he was considered a “lazybones.” In fact, he was pretty lazy a good portion of the time, but he did pull through when it was most needed. 

His breathing, originally slow and calm, gradually increased in pace, sweat started beading down his skull. Nightmares of the past weren’t that uncommon either, though to others it didn’t seem he ever had any. He was always so laid back and joking that the possibility of him having bad dreams was impossible to comprehend. 

The nightmare was a reoccurring one. Identical each time. And every time it was just as terrifying. 

It was back during the war, when Sans was just 4, almost 5 and Papyrus was the same. Their home was fine before the bomb struck it. Their family was happy and together before the fires, the destruction, the death. 

He was trapped underneath some rubble, the remains of the family home crushing him to the point he thought that he would die like this rather than the epic way he and his brother had always dreamed of. In fact, he could feel life slipping through his grasp like sand.  

Just when everything started fading away and Sans’s mind began slipping away into a blissful void, he heard a faint voice piercing through the fading screams. Calling his name...

Text: “hey kid. you know what day it is? it’s 9/11… sore topic, I know… but we all know what happened (I’m not explaining it). anyways… uh… let’s just pay respects and, uh, send prayers to those who lost loved ones 23 years ago today…”

If you lost someone during the attack that happened 23 years ago today, I am so sorry for your loss, and I know 23 years might seem like a long time (or it might not, it might feel like a week or so), but that doesn’t mean the pain necessarily healed. If this is the case for you, I send prayers your way, and wish you the best moving forward…

I also know some people watched it happen live on the news, either in their homes, at work, or at school. That can be pretty scarring too. If you’re still struggling from this, I hope you are able to recover in some way, shape, or form, and if you need to talk to someone, either talk to a professional or message me. My messages are always open on here for those who may need to vent. If you want me to respond, you may say so, if not and you just need to write it out and know someone is listening at least, then you may specify that as well.

23 years have passed and so many families are still affected by 9/11… so if you can, please try and support those who may still be struggling. It can be in the smallest things and still make a huge difference. Do what you can, even if it’s just reblogging a post to show support and spread awareness.
