Went to go listen to Yuuri's theme (because the usual way I put him in the ground means I only ever get to listen to the ace card music instead of his theme ;v;), and, about the leitmotif,

according to the comments, Yuuya's isn't there, but Yuuto and Yuugo's are - assumedly because he actually had those two in him, but never had Yuuya (or, you know, it's because he's a big ol' foil to Yuuya in terms of how they duel)

#marwospeaking #He does have a vibe closest to Yuuto. but then also put up with Yuugo as a spirit companion before anyone else. so his theme connections..#.. to Yuuya are already thin. but if it is true (that Yuuya isn't referenced in Yuuri's theme. but the other two are). then I wonder.......#Though. thinking about it. Even though the second most friend-having Yuboy is Yuuto. he is still a loner who doesn't have many..#.. Yuugo only had Rin for the longest time. and sort of had Rin But Not. and Yuuri has/had no one (no matter how Dennis tries to spin it)#(which is sad to watch because you can tell he's trying to befriend Yuuri. who is oblivious to befriending attempts. so it fails)#So maybe the lack of leitmotif is a hold over from some Yuuya-based jealousy - in the same jealous vein as his feelings on Asuka #Someone popular. someone surrounded by adoring eyes. someone he couldn't be (and it wasn't necessarily his fault he couldn't)#(There are Leo-based factors in Yuuri's loneliness that form the backbone of his villainy)#Amazingly this doesn't really change what I thought was going on with Yuuri's character. so there's that too I guess #We'll see over the next few days (until bonfire night) how duel links handles/changes him #If I have thoughts on his theme interacting with VJ Yuuri's characterisation. I might make a separate post on it. maybe
