Listen my personal poorly articulated headcannon is that Bev's hugs hit like a truck. He gets used to being scooped. Being able to bodily throw himself at people and just. Applies that to his hugs.

That kid can will and does fucking fling himself at Moonshine and Hardwon on a semi-regular basis and usually they remember to brace but sometimes they aren't quite paying attention and like, I don't care if he's a halfling or not that is a Paladin in full plate armour flinging himself at you.

What I'm saying is that if he doesn't fully knock Hardwon or Moonshine on their ass with a Hug at some point in Canon just know that he does in my head and my heart.
