I have an OC I created for the sole purpose of having Beyond survive and be out of prison (since canonically he died there) and I love this kind of things, please we have to expand it.

Make B be the one that goes to school and meets Light and says "I'm L", make him the reason Light in the manga doubts that the Ryuzaki he met is the real L. Make sure Light and Misa never meet Lawliet, have Beyond Birthday impersonate him (which he has basically a degree in).

Have a screen with the gothic L that (when B isn't around because he has to update L) plays some recorded messages with the voice changer that really sound like B but are actually made by L.

Have the original and the imitator collaborate for the sole purpose of giving Kira anxiety and existential dread, because honestly the moment Beyond Birthday comes into play he knows Light is the culprit just like Lawliet does, they just have to make him nervous enough so that he commits a mistake.

Don't change the fact that L and Light are rivals. Just add Beyond Birthday as Kira's personal sleep paralysis demon.

ALSO ALSO ALSO Beyond walking on all fours just to creep Misa out. You hear her screaming at the HQ during the time she has no memories, next thing you see her running while being chased by B on all fours laughing maniacally with his shinigami laugh.

Also imagine Rem and Ryuk look at him and are like "What kind of fuckery is this".

I so desperately want to write an au in which everything from another note happens nearly the same except Beyond is genuinely not the killer. He’s a whole ass respectable(eh kinda) detective who takes on the case because it’s interesting but L who knows B would take on the case sends Misora to solve the case first and fuck with him(this is how L wins the name Ryuzaki) but that wouldn’t be the point of the story.

No, because one day when the members of the Kira task force arrive at hq they’d be met with an uncanny valley version of L. They have no clue what’s going on and L cant get rid of B(he’s been trying to shake him since A died) but then B says why he’s decided to join the investigation despite not caring about Kira.

Like B and Misora being besties after the case and Beyond going absolutely feral on the Kira investigation because that bitch killed his only friend. I keep imagining B seeing Misora and feeling all the things he felt for A, except Misora has such a long life to live, beyond feels safe becoming her friend. I have no plot in mind, only vibes so this will probably stay a wip forever but the thoughts are eating my brain 😫
