Dear Nonnymouse, and Matt, I am not even gonna lie. Where this ship actually got me was when Beth was on the rooftop telling Spiderman that she sometimes fantasised about drowning Peter Parker in mashed potatoes and gravy, thinking that he was some racist bastard ~specifically toward her~ and how, as they spent more time together, in different contexts, that Peter was the first one she told about kissing Spidey. I giggled like a fiend and still do. Then all the convoluted plots to keep his identity a secret before she was like "You know what? I am a witch with a very specific set of skills and I am tired af, let's..." <insert actual magickal intervention here>. I can't help but think that's so much of a relief for Peter and for Spidey, respectively. Especially with how much time that they devote to hiding and compartmentalising their own varied gifts. Peter isn't any more used to being Spidey without danger any more than Beth knows how not to be the Admiral's daughter. But together, they can get glimpses. And of course, all the finding out...the trauma and tragedy of superhero romances even if neither one really think they are super or heroic in a lot of cases. Peter's Guilt vs. Beth's self-denial, and....go! I love some angst in my fluff. I also think it's easier with them both being essentially street level heroes when they could technically rule the universe together if they could really be bothered. ~*~ Then on the other hand, we have 15 verse. That one hurts my heart so much but in all the right ways. Seeing Peter going through his trials and tribulations, knowing his secrets and keeping them for him, even if it means keeping the fact that she even knows from him. Trying to be happy when she envies Gwen. MJ. Black Cat. His relationship with Uncle Ben and Aunt May. Even when she wants to shout from the rooftops, hoping maybe Peter finally hears her. Peter clueless why she comes across so fickle. Because she can't or worse, won't tell him what's wrong and he has a lot on his narrow shoulders already. Each problem only mounting heavier by the day and him really needing the support just to be able to breath, and not knowing what's too much or too little. UGH. I love how you and I craft our stories, and how much heavy lifting we each do to get every tiny moment to feel right, and how we make each other *FEEL* I hope you are as satisfied and as stimulated as I am, and that your heart breaks and heals as often as mine does.

Molly O’Shea’s Death - More specifically the things she said before she died. She never ratted out the gang, she was just in love and wanted Dutch to finally notice her

Arthur’s Death Animal - The stag and the black coyote have such deep meaning behind them and I can’t stop thinking about it, especially since I’m an Animal Science (Pre-Vet) Major, I might make an entirely new post about the stag and the black coyote

Micah Bell’s Past - I want to know more about him. This is controversial, but he is my favorite character. The way Peter Blomquist played him in RDR2 genuinely made me hate the character. He’s such a fantastic villain, and he is perfectly made to be hated

Bill’s crush on Kieran - He didn’t know how to flirt, he was just trying his best to get Kieran comfortable after tormenting him with his balls, I don’t think they would have been a healthy couple, but seeing Bill vulnerable and awkward around Kieran made me see him differently

Javier’s Haircut - I know it’s very insignificant in the games, but I can’t help but to imagine the song “Blue Hair” by TVGirl every time I think about Javier’s new look in RDR1

John Marston - His love for his wife and the love he had for Jack while progressing through RDR2. I could talk all day about John learning to love and play with Jack

I believe I have stumbled upon a system for fictional four sibling groups. It to my knowledge only consistently for SIBLINGS not friend groups. I will explain my hypothesis at the end.

For the dead one they don't actually have to have died but, quite frankly most of the time if I asked you which one was the dead one, one would come to mind almost immediately

Now for the reasoning. For all of these the family aspect is a big part of their stories. When a writer wants to write a family story they often pick 4 siblings because it's big enough to work but not too many to loose track. Then you need to differentiate them. Bluntness keeps one distinct. Having one die adds drama. The other two keep the family together. From a writer point of view it makes sense.

Part 1

Eddie’s coming home from the hospital today, and Steve is quietly singing along to love songs like they’re on the radio, but they’re not; they must be just in his head.

Dustin wants to enjoy it, wants to simply look forward to calling the others; they have an ongoing list of songs Steve has sung unconsciously, ranked according to various degrees of embarrassment, the current winner being his butchering of German in Rock Me Amadeus.

But he can’t. He can’t enjoy any of it.

There’s a window open in the car.

Steve keeps it down unless it’s crazy bad rain, ever since he found out that Erica can get motion sick sometimes.

Dustin grips onto his knees.

He’d tried to convince himself it was all centred around the hospital. That he could contain it.

But now he’s in Steve’s car (Steve’s car! Familiar and safe, where there’s still that streak of mud along the inside of the door from Dustin’s sneakers); he’s in Steve’s car trying not to breathe, because every time he does, he sees those damn particles floating in front of him.

“Okay, what?” Steve says, sounding both amused and resigned.

Dustin sucks in the slightest amount of air that he can manage. “Hmm?”

“Dude, I know you. Whenever you’re this quiet, you want something from me.”

“That’s an erroneous conclusion,” Dustin says.

Steve is meant to say something like oh yeah, erroneous, blah, blah, blah.

But Dustin knows his delivery is off when Steve just gives him a sideways glance while they’re stuck in traffic—knows that Steve misinterprets whatever look is on his face, because the driver window is being quickly wound down, too.

“Hey, do you feel sick? I can pull over.”

“I’m good,” Dustin says, only just managing to suppress a shiver as more cold wind seeps inside.

Steve doesn’t seem particularly happy with that answer, but the traffic starts moving again, leaving him with no choice but to drive on.

“Okay, just—we’ll be five minutes tops, all right? Just look at the, uh, horizon.”

Dustin looks ahead.

Doesn’t mention that all he can see is what the sky looked like from the trailer roof.

There’s a stack of books at the end of Eddie’s hospital bed—Steve’s gone back to the car to get a cardboard box for them. Dustin spots Nancy’s copy of Little Women on the top of the pile.

(During a visit where Nancy had driven him over, Eddie had made them wait in the corridor for a full five minutes before telling them they could come in, and when they did he was clutching the book with red-rimmed eyes, staring at Nancy so accusingly that Dustin couldn’t help but laugh.

“Beth?” Nancy had said, fighting a smile at Eddie’s melodramatic sigh.

Eddie mimed throwing the book at her, careful not to actually damage it. “Fucking Beth.”)

Another book’s in danger of slipping off the edge of the bed; Dustin catches it before it can fall. Peter Pan. He flicks it open, sees a childishly crooked Property of Steve written in pencil on the title page.

Eddie’s pressing some folded clothes into a bag on the other side of the bed. He looks up.

And Dustin suspects that when he went to the bathroom, Steve and Eddie must’ve had some sort of conversation about him, because Eddie says, “Go sit down, I’ve got this,” like Dustin’s the one who’s been recovering in hospital.

“What, scared I’ll rip your books?” Dustin asks, and this time he knows he’s hit just the right tone of normality, just the right mixture of teasing and petulant, because Eddie snorts.

“Shuddup,” he says, and then he lunges for Dustin, ruffling his hair. His hand lingers for a second, tilting so the back of it touches Dustin’s forehead.

“What the hell?” Dustin says, shoving him off playfully.

Eddie’s still grinning from their tussle, but it fades a bit as he gives Dustin a once-over.

“Thought you looked a little peaked,” he says with a shrug.

Dustin forces an eye roll. “I’m fine.”

Eddie seems to accept that, but he pours an extra glass of water and leaves it on the table; and when Dustin takes it, his mouth opens, and Dustin silently pleads inside his head don’t ask me, don’t ask me, and—

Steve’s voice echoes down the corridor, soft and lilting: Islands in the Stream.

Eddie chuckles. “That’s another one for the list,” he tells Dustin, but his eyes glitter like he doesn’t find it embarrassing at all, and when he’s bundling up the books, his fingers trace the front cover of Peter Pan like it’s a rare gem.

Oh, Dustin thinks. Then: You’re so happy.

Steve enters the room with the cardboard box held aloft like it’s a trophy, and Eddie laughs, makes a quip: “Jesus Christ, we’re not at one of your basketball games, Steve.”

Steve grins, briefly bends his knees as if on the basketball court. “You wish.”

Eddie rolls his eyes, shoots Dustin a look as if to say who does this guy think he is?

But his eyes are saying something else.

He passes the books over to Steve, chatting easily about whatever chapter he’d got up to, and their hands touch with such casual intimacy. There should be no space for them to worry here, Dustin decides—and so, for the rest of the day, commits to being the most carefree, boisterous version of himself he can manage.

It gets to the point where the window in his room is permanently shut.

Where he suddenly has this awful feeling of doubt—that this is something he should’ve called a code red over long ago.

He calls Will, twisting the phone cord around his fingers over and over, so tightly that it hurts.

“Will, you know when. Your—your episodes. The Mindflayer. What. What did it feel like?”

The ensuing silence makes shame run down his spine, cold as ice.

But when Will speaks, he doesn’t sound hurt, or even the slightest bit frightened.

“Why?” he asks.

“It.” Dustin grits his teeth. “I’m worried it might. Might be happening again.”

Another silence, and then Will says, very gently, “Dustin, it’s all closed off. I can’t feel anything anymore.”

“Okay.” Dustin blinks back the sudden burning in his eyes. “Okay.”

“You… you know you can talk to me, right?” Will says, tentative and kind, too kind, because Will is the kid who disappeared, who’s had to deal with all this shit for years, stuff that Dustin could never—

“Yeah,” Dustin says.

“My mom, she’ll be home soon,” Will says, rushed suddenly, like he can sense Dustin’s about to hang up, “if you wanna—”

“Yeah, thanks, I’ve gotta go,” Dustin says all in one breath, and ends the call.

And he realises something—kind of hates himself for it. That if The Upside Down was really back, he would’ve felt terrified, sure, but also…

Relieved.

Because the alternative is that the problem is him.

Night-Night (Part 2)

Spencer tucked his white long-sleeved dress shirt into his classic black suit-pants. Although the occasion was unfortunate- family court- Spencer still looked cute as usual. He stood in front of his standing bedroom mirror, adjusting his tie around his neck. 

You slid your arms around his waist and tummy nonchalantly, resting your chin on his shoulder. “Everything’s going to be okay. We already know how it’s going to end anyway- you’re getting full custody while she’s away.” You reassured your worried boyfriend, then spun him around to face you. “Plus, you look pretty handsome, not going to lie,” You grabbed his suit jacket from off the bed and slid it onto his arms. “There, perfect.” You cupped his cheeks to kiss his nose.

“I love you, y/n.” Spencer whispered, pulling your waist to press your hips against his. “So much.” He leaned in to kiss you, the quiet, hot moment stirring your stomach. 

You began to tug at his hair a bit, humming against his lips slightly as you heard little knocks wrack the bedroom door. You and Spencer turned around quickly to spot Beth in a cute dress, formal black, and her last court teddy bear under her arm. “We ready to go, Daddy?” Beth asked, swaying side to side with her bear. 

“Yes, baby. Y/n is just getting finished getting changed, but we can head into the car. Go put your shoes on for me?” Spencer asked Beth to be met with a compliant nod. She exited the room, closing the door behind her. Spencer grabbed your waist again, “You know, you don’t look too bad yourself, baby. This dress really suits you, and the heels.” Spencer gave you a quick kiss before pulling away, leaving you a lovesick mess as per usual.

“Of course it looks good, my boyfriend picked it out.” You teased, following him out of the door. 

Spencer locked the front door behind you and Beth, watching you carry his baby to the car and buckling her up. He’d thought about what you said, “You have a family.” He thought about it as he watched you care for her like your own. 

Eventually you turned around to see Spencer looking at you, “Come on! If you think I’m driving, you’re crazy.” Spencer chuckled, sliding into the driver’s seat.

“All ready, Daddy?” Asked Beth, kicking her feet in the backseat.

Spencer took a deep breath and started the car, “All ready, baby.” 

Spencer pulled into the parking lot outside of the court, taking one last deep, shaky breath. He couldn’t help but spot Beth’s mom’s car parked just a few feet down. 

“Alright, let’s go.” Spencer made his way around the car to unbuckle Beth and let her out of the car. As soon as he placed her on the pavement, her hand rose up to her eye. Spencer assumed she was blocking the sun from her face until she extended her hand to a point. 

“That’s Peter, Daddy. Peter’s never come with us before.” Beth questioned, clearly catching Peter’s attention because he sent an unreadable glance her way. 

You looked to Spencer. It had been less than five minutes- just in the parking lot- and Spencer was already sweating bullets. You asked the question Spencer didn’t want to. “Who is Peter, Beth?” 

“Mommy’s boyfriend. Just like you’re Daddy’s girlfriend.” Beth explained to you. Spencer was pissed. He noticed what Beth hadn’t- Peter’s fading black eye. There was no doubt in his mind who left that mark on him. 

Without saying a word, Spencer started towards the entry doors. You directed Beth behind him with one hand gently resting on her back. Inside, the court was crowded. The jury was full and the judge most definitely looked over it for the day. And Spencer’s ex-wife, well, she looked just about as thrilled as Spencer about this. 

You, Spence, and Beth sat all together across from Beth’s mom and Peter. Peter and Beth’s mother were questioned first. This was the part that sucked the most: poor six-year-old Beth having to sit there, listening to how her mother abused Peter. You handed Beth your phone, giving her a distraction. She nodded as she opened some game you’d let her download a while ago on your phone. 

You then turned your attention to Spencer, placing one hand on the back of his neck. Just as you did, you heard Beth’s mother’s shrill voice, “Why is that whore here?” She stood up from her chair shakily, pointing in your direction. Two things happened in result of this: Beth was no longer distracted and her full focus was placed on her mother degrading you meanwhile Spencer shot up from his seat instinctively. 

“Spencer, sit down, it’s fine.” You whispered to him, rubbing Beth’s back, lightly. Spencer refused to sit, though. 

You thought you might throw up as Spencer began to open his mouth, but was interrupted by his ex-wife, “She’s touching my daughter’s back! She’s sitting with my daughter and touching her.” 

You heard a small high pitched squeak come from Beth, like she was trying her best to suppress a cry. “Beth it’s okay,” You took your phone from her, then stood up beside Spencer, “Could we get her out of here, please?” You attempted to remove Beth from the situation.

The judge shot everyone down, sending a security guard to sit beside Beth’s mother instead. She ended the case with a final statement, “Due to the fact that this is your second offense, you will be facing up to one-hundred-fifty days in D.C. Women’s Correctional Prison. You may hug your daughter before leaving. Court adjourned.” 

One-hundred-fifty days, you let it sink in. That’s nearly five months without her daughter. No doubt, she was a shitty mother and an even worse partner, but five months without your daughter? That would kill you, and Beth wasn’t even yours.

Spencer didn’t seem to care much, though. Without saying a word to you, Spencer left the courtroom before you or Beth even could. You guess, he didn’t want to be a part of the goodbye. He didn’t want to see her touch Beth. 

That left you to walk Beth up to her mother, alone. Beth’s mother called after her, but something kept Beth at your side, attached to the skirt of your dress. Her tiny hands clung tightly to you as a tear rolled down her cheek. 

“Hey, Beth, if you can go be a big girl and say goodbye to Mommy, you’ll get a new teddy bear.” You attempted to bribe her in whatever way you could. Things would only be worse if she refused to hug her mother. Beth nodded, bravely, and made a quick run to her mother. 

Spencer’s ex held Beth tightly, shaking from nerves and what you were sure was also some drug withdrawal. The moment she released Beth, Beth was handed a soft, pink teddy bear, which she promptly kissed on the head. With a giggle, you reached out for Beth’s available hand and exited with her, like a proud mama who just watched her daughter survive a hard thing.

Laying in bed that night you could tell Spencer was in distress. The two of you hadn’t really talked much since he walked out of court and drove you and Beth home. Some lingering emotion tormented him and it was clear. 

“Spence? Are you okay?” You wrapped your arms around his chest and placed a small kiss on his cheek. 

He still smelled like that one cologne he wore to court this morning, light and woody. Spencer didn’t give much of a verbal reply, but more of a nod. You sat with that for a moment, with him. You knew something bigger was coming, he was just working up to say it. “I’m so sorry I just left you to handle the goodbye by yourself. God, I’m such a dick.” Spencer sighed, his chest rising and falling dramatically with his words. 

He was having a panic attack. Whenever Spencer had panic attacks they didn’t usually involve crying, just hyperventilating or unreasonable thoughts.

 “Baby everything was okay, she gave her mom a hug then got a bear. Then we left. No biggie.” You cooed at him, brushing his hair out of his face. You began to notice that this time there were tears. Little ones- but they were tears. You’d never seen Spencer cry so often. It killed you to see him under this kind of stress. “You’re not a dick, you’re a dad. You don’t like watching people hurt your baby, Spencer. That’s okay. That’s why I’m here, because I love you and I can handle it, really.” You assured him.

His breathing only seemed to pent up more though. You decided to sit up so you could peel up his shirt some, placing your hand underneath it and over his skin- his heart. He seemed relieved at the cool touch of your hand against his chest. Spencer began to inhale and exhale slowly, sucking the air in and blowing it out.

“Good job, Spence.” You told him, removing your hand and kissing his soft cheek. 

Spencer nodded peacefully before his eyes darted open, “Shit, what time is it? Beth needs to be asleep.”

Spencer sat up, nearly jumping out of bed before you shushed him, “I put her to bed already, it’s okay.” Relieved, he slid back into bed. “It’s okay.” You reminded him once more as he curled into your chest, placing a short kiss on your neck.

“It’s okay. Night-night.” Spencer repeated your words before dozing off on your chest, calm and sweet.

Random KISS Facts

(That nobody asked for)

Gene

The first time Gene spit fire, he caught his hair on fire

Back in the beginning of KISS, Gene would do a trick with flash paper, but one night his aim was off and the paper blew up in a kid’s face

Paul

During the Hotter Than Hell photoshoot, Paul got so drunk, that Gene had to lock him in the station wagon to keep Paul from hurting himself

Ace

Ace punched Tommy Thayer in the face when he (Tommy) was manager, over Ace having his girlfriend in the dressing room

Ace Frehley almost drowned twice. Once in a hotel bathtub and another time in a pool. Gene saved him both times

A day before the Hotter Than Hell photo shoot, Ace got in a bad car accident and split one side of his face open so. Because of this, Ace couldn’t wear that side of his makeup, so all the shots were profiles

Around 2000, Ace Frehley missed a flight to a concert in Los Angeles and the band got manager Tommy Thayer ready to fill in for Frehley, in costume and makeup. Frehley made it to the show at the last minute via helicopter ride from LAX to the venue

Peter

Peter Criss hardly played during the Reunion/Farewell tour, so they put an amplifier on his drums to make it sound like he was actually playing. That’s why a lot of the crew members would say “don’t sneeze around Peter’s drum set”

Eric C.

After the Dynasty tour was over, Peter Criss left the band. So, after KISS announced his departure, they held auditions for a new drummer and selected Paul Carvello, later renamed Eric Carr

When Eric Carr had to sing “Beth” he called Peter to make sure he (Peter) was ok with him singing his song

When Eric Carr recorded his vocal for the re-recording of “Beth” in 1988, he sat on the same drum stool that Peter Criss used during the original recording of the song in 1976

KISS’s late drummer Eric Carr’s collar on his 1980 “fox” costume was made out of real fox fur

In Paul’s book Face the Music he says that “When the tour stopped in Manhattan for two gigs at the Ritz, Eric Carr came to one of the shows and sat in the balcony with his head resting on the railing through the entire show. Afterwards he came backstage, and out of left field, turned to Eric Singer, and said, ‘You’re going to replace me.’ ‘What are you talking about?’ I spoke. ‘He’s going to replace me in KISS,’ said Eric Carr, nodding at Eric Singer. ‘Listen, Eric, you’re the drummer in KISS, and he’s the drummer of my solo band.’” But as fate would have it, Eric Singer was the perfect fit

Tommy

March 11, 2000, through April 13, 2001, was the Reunion/Farewell Tour with Ace and Peter. Tommy Thayer was KISS’ tour manager at the time, and he had to retrain Ace and Peter all their parts, because they hadn’t played in years. It proved to be difficult, and Tommy almost gave up. But with the reassurance of Paul, he managed to reteach Ace and Peter all their parts

Album/Song Facts

Cannons were recorded and mixed into KISS Alive! to mimic the pyrotechnics that didn’t come through the microphones correctly

Alive! was recorded in multiple different cities with crowd audio combined to make the crowd sound bigger. Alive! was mainly recorded in Detroit

At one point KISS almost went under because Neil Bogart (KISS’ manager) had maxed out his credit card. With the combination of the special effects, levitating drum set (that seldom ever worked), the exploding drumsticks, and Neil’s gambling issue, the band almost went under, but when Alive! went Platinum, it saved the group

On Dynasty Anton Fig played on the tracks except for “Dirty Livin’,” written, and played by Criss even though he wasn’t involved in its production, Peter was still credited on drums, which left Anton Fig uncredited

Psycho Circus was the first album to involve all four original members (though Ace Frehley and Peter Criss only appeared on a select few tracks). "You Wanted the Best" is the only KISS song in which lead vocals are shared by the entire lineup

The radio news announcer at the start of “Detroit Rock City” is KISS’ producer Bob Ezrin. The main news report featured a fatal car accident, and is the backstory of the song, which was based on a reportedly true event that happened to a teen on his way to Detroit KISS concert in 1975

Paul’s yodeling at the beginning of “Heaven’s on Fire” is him warning up. He didn’t realize the camera was rolling, but they decided to keep it in the video

A number of songs from Crazy Nights were performed live during its supporting tour, but during and especially immediately following the tour, most of those songs were dropped and were never performed again

The famous song “Rock and Roll All Nite” was inspired by Slade’s “Mama Weer All Crazee Now”

Towards the end of the Reunion/Farewell tour, fans were shocked to see Eric Singer in full Catman costume and makeup, meaning Peter left the band again for the final time

During the music video for “Heaven’s on Fire” Eric Carr pops up behind Paul, and Paul looks at him for a split second before looking back at the camera. Eric did that randomly. It wasn’t planned. Paul’s reaction was genuine

The KISS logo is altered in Germany because of the similarities to the Nazi S

Early in KISS’ career, Larry Harris worked an endorsement deal with Gibson guitars, and they provided free guitars that Paul could smash. In exchange, KISS put Gibson on the back of their album covers

Be the one giving him advice because he's got more experience in the last week than she and Peter have had in their entire lives. And her brother isn't feeling his heart breaking by the minute. Peter is like a little brother. Part of the problem, she supposes. Maybe it's proof that the Westermarck Effect isn't simply a psychological hypothesis. And she looks away, taking a step back so he can't hear the things she can't bring herself to say. "It's because yours are bigger than others." your grin grows impossibly wider. you've done many things to Rick, reigned hell on his life. but making him nervous? That's a first. even your most elaborate traps he figures out in moments. "he called me your boyfriend, you didnt deny it."

he pauses eyes wide and he just looks at you. searching your face for any hint of a lie or cruel joke. when he finds nothing he speaks. "who wouldn't? now move up in that bed," you raised a brow and rick scoffed. "Don't get your dick all excited its easier to see interdimensional cable this way. if you gonna be such a fuck-"

your hands to grip his lab coat. touch soft rather than cruel. silently begging for him to stay, you don't like hospitals and he knows that. he knows everything. his bony hands hold your cheek and the movement leaves you breathless, hands that are built for harm. healing. healing you, just you.

Ranking Portrayals of Amy x Laurie from Worst to Best

History- The best way to describe the couple is by alluding to another real-life story. David Bowie shared that when he met Iman, she was not at all interested in him, and if wanted to prove to her that he was serious, he had to work hard to win her; in his own words he described winning her as “it was as if she was a top a medieval tower, and in the process of reaching her, I became a better man, and never looked back.” This vibe is very much what makes Amy and Laurie a great couple, he the dreamer and emotional one, while she is the grounded and logical one. They balance each other out, and because they had known each other for so long, their love comes naturally and at ease that it makes sense they could love each other. They have known each other since they were young, and after much growth on their own characters, they find that they are meant to be.

2019- This is just bottom of the barrel when it comes to showing this couple. It’s funny, and while I am glad that people started to like Amy and the couple more because of this film, but let me tell you, they are not the best version. One issue that is had here is Amy’s character is so displaced. From the moment she meets Laurie, she is practically obsessed with him, plastering her foot so he may “remember what pretty feet I have” and running after him in a carriage screaming for him, when it is incredibly undignified for her to do. Amy plastered her foot because she wanted to try and explore other means of creating art, and it’s Laurie who sees her in Paris, chasing after her. This version really plays up the myth of Laurie “settling for Amy”, as he seems to not be that interested in her until she confesses her own feelings, and once again, Amy making a choice with the hope that Laurie is going to be waiting for her. I just didn’t see Laurie loving Amy as much as she loved him, and I didn’t find there to be much chemistry between the two actors as much as everyone said, not when he is so distant from her until the last moment.

1949- The problem with this film is that there is so little of them. I know that this was the same complaint of Meg and John in the 2019 film, so why aren’t I applying the same criteria to this listing? Because I would rather see so few of their interactions than see it played out incorrectly. The only real interaction they seem to have is during the party scene when Jo and Laurie get Amy and Beth food as they sit on the stairs. The only other hint of a relationship happening before the return from Europe is when Amy asks Jo, before leaving for Europe, if Jo would be alright if Laurie fell in love with another girl, hinting possibly something had happened while Jo went to New York. I think it’s a shame that we don’t see much of them, given that I think Elizabeth Taylor and Peter Lawford could have made a nice Amy x Laurie.

2018- This too suffers not having enough scenes with them, especially as adults, but I give this a pass given that the film follows Jo’s perspective more than the others. What I do like about this version is that we do see some sweet moments between them, both as children and adults, that it makes sense just how it could be possible that they fall for each other. Laurie was always so good to Amy as a child, so you understand why she, as a kid, would have a crush on him, which oddly bumps this over the 49’ film, but it allows me a better understanding why and how they fell in love. They are both creatives who are interested in what the other is doing, while Jo is focused on her own work, not necessarily caring what anyone else’s dream is, just what she thinks they ought to be.

1933- This one fare better than the 49’ film by showing more interactions between the characters that you can understand better here how they end up together. Notably, they share an interaction when Beth gets scarlet fever, and Laurie promises to take Amy out for a ride every day while at Aunt March’s, and then scene with Amy and Laurie in Europe after finding out Beth has died. I love their reunion in Europe, because it shows not only how Amy had matured from the start of the film, but also the incredibly tender look Laurie gives Amy as he comforts her, it’s so sweet and you can see the beginning of a romance blossoming between them.

1970- This is another one that really stayed true to text, and having that helps to get the audience on board with the pair. The first time they interact is when Laurie saves her from drowning, jumping in himself to save her and Amy clearly has a crush on him after this. When Laurie promises to take her out for a ride while she is at Aunt March’s there is a pretty adorable interaction where they make plans. At Meg’s wedding they already have hits of acting like a couple, when he spoke in French, “to you I surrender”, then taking her in his arms, and when dancing begins, Amy is the first person he goes to. Where they shine is when they meet again in Europe. This is incredibly faithful to the novel where Amy lays it out for him and Laurie chastises her for marrying only for money. I love the way Amy defends Laurie and is proud of him going away to London to do better things for himself. When he goes to comfort Amy, he promises to not go back to Paris as long as Amy wants him and promises to take care of her. This is the only version that shows them alone after being married, and the casual intimacy they share with each other is just precious. For book faithful, you are best to go with this one.

2017- This one was a surprise how much I liked it. I liked seeing scenes of them together, especially prior their trip in Europe, because it shows how much their relationship grows, especially the scene at Aunt March where they both talk about their faults and wishing to improve themselves. It shows their vulnerable side, which through the series, we hadn’t seen either of them show to anyone else. While we don’t get much of Amy reprimanding Laurie for his behavior, it still has them being honest with one another about their faults, encouraging the other to pursue their passions, and Kathryn Newton and Jonah Hauer-King have a wonderful chemistry together that I would very happily see them in another film where they are a couple. It’s in the looks they give each other, the simple gestures that help to show that, whether they know it or not, they are falling in love with each other, until it’s unavoidable. The scene where they admit their love, at the bank is an intimate moment, and has dialogue quite true to the book, as Laurie asks if Amy thinks they might be on the same journey that could last forever.

1978- Something I always like to see between Amy and Laurie is moments shared before going to Europe, and there is a great conversation between them about their desire to be skilled in art and music, and encouraging each other to chase their dreams. They are always so honest with each other, even if it is blunt and hurtful, in the end, they know they can take it. The scenes in Europe are so true to text that it made me so happy. I feel like so many versions do not play that out, and watching how their love went from being friends to how Laurie could realize that he never loved Jo, that his heroine of his opera stopped looking like Jo and was more like Amy, was adorable, you can really hear the sincerity in his voice when he says this. You can see how good of an influence Amy has on him, particularly when they see Jo after getting married, and she convinces him to speak to Jo about being married. I put this one higher than the 70’ miniseries, mainly because I felt the actors had a better chemistry together than the earlier version, and if you want something that overall shows the essence of Amy x Laurie, this one does the trick.

1994- I wasn’t expecting this one to be as high as it is, but I think the reason why is all the nuances that are in this version rather than just what we see. I always love seeing Amy and Laurie interactions before Europe, as it’s meant to be a softer version of friends to lovers, so to have a scene where Laurie and Amy are in the carriage, him comforting her as she worries over Beth and staying with Aunt March, and the precious moment where he promises to kisses her before she dies, and to have it come back later on was wonderful. His touching her nose, hinting at her little habit of the clothes pin on her nose, is the cutest little signs of affection between them, a sort of them thing. After their rather frank conversation of how they both are acting against their nature is very well done, showing that they can be honest with each other, and when Laurie goes to London to improve his behavior, it inspires Amy to do the same. What gets me hardest is when he receives the letter from Jo about Beth’s death and Aunt March in confinement, he doesn’t even finish the letter, just drops everything to rush to Amy’s side, proving that she was first on his mind, not Jo, and that he loved Amy more than her. This is the version to really get into Amy and Laurie, as it encapsulates everything that makes their relationship great.

For your first college Halloween party, you decided to go all out with your costume. You initially wanted to do a matching one with Peter — and be that couple. However, Peter had other plans. Him and Ned already bought matching Star Wars costumes. He offered to joined them and be a trio, but you didn’t want to be Princess Leia — no offense to her.

‘’Where is he?’’ you asked Ned for the fifth time since getting at the party, not seeing Peter anywhere. 

Ned took off his Darth Vader helmet, feeling hot underneath. He checked his phone, but found no new messages from his best friend. ‘’He said he was on his way twenty minutes ago. He must be still on his way.’’ 

You took a sip of your drink, creating a new stain of plum-y red lipstick around the rim. That’s the consequences of wearing dark lipstick. ‘’Call him,’’ you urged.

‘’Why don’t you call him?’’ Ned replied. 

‘’Because if I do, he’ll ignore me like he ignored my last three calls. Please, Ned. I’m getting worried.’’ 

Sighing, Ned dialed Peter’s number. 

He’ll be there soon, he said.

You sighed and decided to grab another drink, even though your current one was only half empty. 

On the way back from the kitchen, an overexcited drunk Lola Bunny crashed into you, sending you off balance. Panicked, you reached out to grip something, but there was nothing to hold onto. You were prepared to hit the floor and embarrass yourself, but just in time, someone caught you by the arm.

You thanked the person, holding a laugh when you saw their cheap Spiderman costume suit. How ironic was the situation? The real Spiderman was not there so a fake one ‘saved’ you. You’ll have to tell Peter that one later. And maybe you’ll add a glare because he was over an hour late and not picking up your calls. 

Just as you were about to look for MJ, the person held you back and took their mask off.

 You shook your head at the face reveal. ‘‘You’re an idiot, Peter Parker.’‘  

He smiled, letting go of your arm, and laughed at his own prank. ‘‘I thought it was funny. You don’t think it’s funny?’’

You gave his suit a once-over, wrinkling your face. 

‘‘I think I see MJ over there by the couch. Go to her and wait for me, I need to pass a call to 1-800-my-boyfriend-is-an-idiot.’‘ 

Peter laughed again. ‘’I figured if I wore the real suit, it would be risky because Spiderman is not supposed to be in Massachusetts, and you would have guessed it was me right from the start.’’

True. That suit was too familiar to you. It would have been an immediate giveaway. 

‘’This suit is terrible, though. I like the Stark nanotechnology one better.’’ Taking a step closer, you whispered between the two of you. ‘’It molds your ass better.’’ You squeezed a handful of your boyfriend’s ass, getting a small gasp of surprise from him.

Peter was quick to cover the sound with a cough.

“For one thing the performance is showing its age. Nowadays, Paul Stanley has to preface ‘Cold Gin’ with the '90s admonition not to drink and drive, and watching Ace Frehley or Peter Criss embark on a lengthy party-piece is a timely reminder of why solos went out with the turn of the decade. Added to which, an over-rehearsed sterility creeps into the performance – there’s no chemistry between the band members, with Ace in particular looking like he’s just going through the motions” (Heavy Hard Music Monthly, 11/96).

“KIϟϟ, the Peter Pans of Rock, stole the show with their rock 'n’ roll showmanship – fireworks, personalized helicopters, painted faces and zany costumes. Together with Ozzy Osbourne, they took on the new breed of yell-it-with-attitude metal merchants. And complete with painted faces and high-heeled boots, the headline act lived up to their billing for the 50,500 rockers who made the pilgrimage to Donington” (Derby Evening Telegraph, 8/19/97).

 "Time stands still and dinosaurs rule the earth at Castle Donington’s annual rockfest: heavy metal, isolated and supreme, returns to make a lot of noise for the benefit of 50,000 beer bellies squeezed into denims and band-emblazoned black T-shirts. Who better to headline such an even than KIϟϟ and Ozzy Osbourne… KIϟϟ still looked like refugees from the world’s worst S&M club. Originally part of Neil Bogart’s Casablanca empire – also responsible for unleashing Donna Summer and Midnight Express upon the world – the once took trash rock and glitter frenzy to its illogical heights… The bassist spat blood and fire, the guitars shot sparks, they strode on platforms the size of tricycles and had more lights than Blackpool. Their loud, empty songs, all fat choruses and cartoon leer, avoided the choler of the younger bands, preferring to keep things at groin level. The day prior to this show Eric Singer and Bruce Kulick issued a press-release announcing their respective departures from KIϟϟ due to the success of the Reunion tour and likelihood of an extended, if not permanent, layoff from their line-up of the band.

KIϟϟ technically shared co-headlining billing with Ozzy for the 1996 Monsters of Rock festival but was the final act to perform due to size and complexity of their stage-show.
