Imagine it was quarter to twelve and you were sitting casually on your livingroom couch, a wineglass resting in between your finger as you wait for the countdown. Come to think of it, it was a quiet night, like everyone was waiting for something. Indeed everyone was.
Imagine it was quarter to twelve when your phone suddenly rang causing your to raise a brow, to be honest there should be no one contacting you from this hour besides... oh! In that split second, you grab your phone in the coffee table and to your guess, it was trully your lover calling causing you to smile unconsciously as you answer it.
"Darling." A familiar voice greeted you as soon as you answered the call. "Hi." You replied, a silly smile on your face appeared as you balanced your phone in between your chin and shoulder as you try to get a comfortable position to watch the fireworks over the window. "Why did you call? I thought you're busy." You chuckle, knowing a few days ago he was complaining about the amount of work that needed to get done.
"I'm wounded by the fact that you expect me not to call you at new year's eve." "Well you did say that you're quite busy today, no?" Just like that you heard a gentle laughter. "So how was your day?" When you lover asked you with such gentle tone, your eyes cannot help but to soften as you began letting him the events of your new years eve.
Imagine casually leaning back in your couch, once in a while taking a sip of your wine as you talk to your lover in the phone, a smile never leaving your lips as you listen how his day went on. And in the midst of all of this, the sound of a fireworks echoed outside causing your eyes to follow the sparks flying up in the sky and just like that, explode into a beautiful sparks, reflecting through your eyes as you stare at it in awe.
"My love." You cannot help but to humm as you continue to admire te colorful midnight sky. "Happy New Year." Your lover spoke in the phone causing your heart to flutter as you replied softly, "Yeah, happy new year too." As the last fireworks explode in the sky, you whispered in the wind "Wish you were here."
Imagine by the time you looked down and check your phone, the call has already been disconnected causing you to smile softly, after all, your lover called despite how busy they are at the moment. Though you cannot help but to be disappointed at their schedule, you knew your lover cannot help it, it's not like he wants to have such packed schedule at new year.
Imagine by the time you have finished cleaning up and was about to head towards your shared room, you heard the door opened follow by a familiar footsteps causing you to halt on your way out of the kitchen as you saw a glimpse of a familiar face. And as soon as he turn his attention into the kitchen, he too halted like a kid getting caught with his hand in a cookie jar. "Surprise?" When he said that with that face, how could you not laugh?
Imagine the way you started walking towards him, a gentle smile on your face that welcomes him every single time he went home. That was something he would never ever trade anything for. "Strange." You spoke as you arrived right in front of him and reach out to touch his cheeks. In which he wasted no time to lean in and melted into your touch. "I'm pretty sure you did not heard that." "Hmm?" He smile sheepishly at you. "You always makes my wish come true, did you know that?" Instead of answering, he just kiss the palm on your hand.
"I forgot something earlier." "What is it you fool?" "I love you and I wish to spent all my new years with you." He smiled at you in which you cannot help but to chuckle. "So do I, you cheeky bastard."

Hiding from a Stalker with Moriarty Brothers + Von Herder
Can I ask for a scenario fic where a Fem! Reader runs up to the Moriarty Brothers + Von herder pretending to be their girlfriend becuuse of a stalker
Albert, William, Louis James Moriarty, and Von Herder
Tag/s: Fem!Reader, Scenario
Albert James Moriarty
"Miss (L/N)!" Sir Acheron called out for you as you squeezed in through the crowd, hoping the number of people would help you hide.
"Excuse me... Miss (L/N), please wait!" the man kept calling out, his eyes locked on you as he made his way through the crowd.
'This is bad...!' you gulped as you quickly walked around, hoping to lose him as he followed you through the dance floor.
'Is he gone..?' you thought, turning your head around as you walked, bumping into someone.
"Sorry! I didn't see-!" you quickly apologized as you faced forward, seeing it was Albert James Moriarty, his suit now drenched in wine as the crowd gasped.
"Insolent girl!"
"Ugh, how improper..."
"How dare she...!"
"Are you all right, miss?" he asked, seeing your frantic state.
"Miss (L/N)!" Sir Acheron called as he reached you, making your blood freeze.
"A-Apologies, my lord…! Shall I help you with the stain?" your voice cracked as you took out your handkerchief, wiping the wine out with shaky hands as the crowd glared at you.
Albert raised a brow as he looked at Sir Acheron, connecting the dots.
"I believe helping me get a new set of clothes would be a better alternative?" Albert suggested, stopping your hand.
"Shall we?" he smiled, linking your arm with his as you walked out of the dance floor.
"O-Of course!" you agreed, sighing in relief as you followed along, hearing Sir Acheron scoff as he left the scene.
"I can see why you would bump into me despite me standing still," Albert whispered, making you nervously laugh.
"Right… Sorry again about the stain. I know quite the talented tailor in town, though!"
William James Moriarty
Your eyes darted around the street, hoping to see at least one shop still open for the night to hide.
You gulped as you saw the man's shadow growing on the ground, hearing his footsteps quickening and closing in on you.
Desperate, you quickly made your way to the department store, only to be stopped by the security guard.
"I'm sorry, miss. We're closing in a few minutes,"
"No, no… You don't understand." you grabbed his arm in fear, "Please, I just need somewhere to-"
"-Sorry, darling. Have you waited long?" a voice chimed in, making you and the guard turn your head to the sound.
It was a nobleman with blond hair and red eyes smiling at you both.
"W-What?"
"Sorry, I lost track of time," he apologetically laughed, walking up to you.
"Shall we get going?" he asked, looking over to his side.
Following, you saw the man stalking you stopped by a lamplight, making your blood curl.
"Y-Yes," you smiled, taking his arm, "Let's go…" you muttered, following the man as you kept your eyes on the stalker.
"There's a police station a couple of blocks from here," the nobleman whispered, making you widen your eyes.
He only looked at you with a wink.
"I'm sure we can convince the officers to help, along with a restraining order if needed."
"I see…" you sighed in relief, feeling your body relax for the first time that night.
"Thank you so much…" you muttered, feeling your eyes tear up in relief, "I thought I was a goner.."
"Here," the man gave you a handkerchief, which you happily took.
"Don't worry, that man won't hurt you now."
Louis James Moriarty
"There you were!" you beamed as you grabbed Louis' arm, catching him by surprise.
"(Y/N)? What are you-"
"Where have you been? I've been looking everywhere for you," you sighed as you hugged his arm, your whole body shaking as you hid your face.
Louis raised a brow as he looked around, seeing a man staring at you both in the dark.
'Oh...' he thought and frowned, wrapping an arm around you.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to make you worry," he smiled as he pulled you close, hiding you from the man's sight.
"For how long has he been following you?" he whispered, making you gulp.
"I just noticed him an hour ago..."
Louis frowned at the answer as he put his coat on you, catching you by surprise.
"You seemed cold," he explained, keeping you close as you left the department store.
"Did he do anything to you?"
"No, he was just following me the whole time," you answered, pulling his coat close to your body.
"Sorry... I know you wanted to buy a gift for William's birthday,"
"What are you apologizing for?" Louis sighed, keeping an eye on the stalker following you both, "That creep isn't your fault," he reasoned as he called for a carriage.
"Let's get you home for the time being," Louis whispered as he helped you up the carriage.
"What about you?" you asked as you grabbed his hand, "You might get hurt,"
Louis breathed out a smile as he removed your hold, "I'll be fine. You're the one he wants,"
"Then what are you gonna do?"
A dangerous glint lit up in Louis' eyes before he lifted his head and gave you a courteous smile.
"Just giving him a lesson he won't forget,"
Von Herder
"Honey!" you called out as you hugged Herder from behind, almost making you both fall over.
"Huh? What-" he muttered, feeling you hold him with trembling arms.
"Um... Miss? I think you got the wrong-"
"-Honestly... I thought you said we were meeting in the cafe?" you sighed with a shaky breath, still holding onto him.
Furrowing his brows, he gently hugged you back, feeling another presence behind you not too far away.
'I see...' Herder sighed, noticing the growing hostile air closing in on you two.
"Sorry, sorry! It must have slipped my mind," Herder played along with a cheery voice, pulling you away from the presence and linking his arm with yours.
"Now then, what should we eat?" he asked as he led you away from the presence, hearing you sigh in relief.
"You can decide this time," you replied, resting your head on his shoulder.
"Sorry, miss. Are you all right?" Herder whispered, still feeling the presence following you.
"Yes, I'm okay... Thank you for playing along," you whispered back, your hands still shaking.
Herder frowned as he kept you close, thinking of a possible solution.
"Oh!" he beamed, stopping abruptly with a grin.
"Sorry, honey. Can we make a quick stop?" Herder asked as he pointed at a mechanics shop, making you raise a brow.
"I don't mind. But what for?" you asked as Herder smirked.
"You'll see," he answered vaguely as you both entered the shop.
"It will be quick, miss...?"
"(Y/N)," you smiled, "(Y/N) (L/N),"
"Miss (Y/N)," he finished as he rummaged around some parts.
"If you don't mind, I might have a solution on how to protect yourself,"

Hi I love your blog, not sure if requests are open or not (you can ignore this if it isn't), but can you do yandere morarity the patriot reactions to reader successfully escaping them for a years and has a kid that looks just like them?
Hey thanks~
Since you didin't say what characters I do this now for Sherlock and Albert
Yandere Sherlock Holmes
The fact that you could escape would be a really big miracle.
Sherlock thought he had thought of everything.
He also thought that he would notice the "suspicious" signs in time.
However, that did not happen this time
It would be an even bigger miracle if you managed to stay hidden.
Maybe you resort to the help of a crime lord ;)
Things that would annoy Sherlock afterwards.
It would be an even bigger miracle if you managed to stay hidden for more than a year.
Surely your closest people would be worried about your "surprise" disappearance...
And of course they would ask Sherlock for help.
He really didn't need any more excuses.
So Sherlock begins his search for you.
That would take about three years.
Because Sherlock has to deal with other cases in between...
Even if he doesn't want to.
Sherlock would find you by accident.
He would be solving another case when he happened to see you at the store.
Like it's fate.
Either fate or a lazy writer who couldn't come up with anything better.
Sherlock would be shocked when he finds out you have a child.
He would be even more shocked that the child looked like him.
How could he not have realized this sooner?
Sherlock would never have wanted children.
However, he really wasn't going to leave you now.
Sherlock would act quickly but carefully.
He wouldn't want you to run away again.
Yandere Albert James Moriarty
Escaping the Moriarty mansion would be difficult because it felt like someone was always with you.
You shouldn't be alone for almost a moment.
Or you could be a little alone but you would be busy with housework.
Yes, because there are no proper servants, even you can help.
Nothing too dangerous though.
Albert doesn't want you to hurt yourself.
However, one day you weren't there when he came back.
This would happen after Albert started to trust you more.
He would feel betrayed indeed.
Albert would swear to find you as soon as possible.
He believed that it wouldn't take long.
However, Albert had the MI6 at his disposal.
It would be a year and a half before he saw you again.
That would seem like a really long time.
Finally someone found a clue to your whereabouts.
Albert would certainly not waste time and would travel there immediately.
A reunion would certainly not be joyous.
You still want nothing to do with Albert and he would be upset that you two had a child.
Now you would have no hope of escape.
Albert would like to raise his children properly.
He would take you back Whether you wanted it or not.
Albert also makes sure you can never leave him.
Never again...

A Kiss to End All Doubt | Albert Moriarty
Summary: When you agreed to tag along with the Moriarty brothers to a grand ball, the last thing you expected was to receive a noble's offer of marriage. Thankfully, Albert plays the part of your lover well, perhaps a little too well for his affectionate words to be fake...
Content: SFW. Fem!Reader. 3,723 words. Pining. Soooo much romantic tension. Albert is a flirt and no one is surprised.
Notes: I have been writing this fic for what feels like forever BUT IT'S FINALLY FINISHED :3 I'm so excited to finally give this to you. I hope you enjoy it 💖 I may also add an epilogue if there's an interest for one...🤭
Did Albert Moriarty, one of the many faces of the Lord of Crime, truly not have the slightest idea of the effect he had on you?
It was silly to even fathom that a man of his stature could be so oblivious, but you couldn’t help but start to wonder once he started giving your flushed cheeks and wide eyes a quizzical look.
That, or he was playing coy with you, which wouldn’t be all that surprising coming from him. He’d long since mastered the art of making noble ladies go weak in the knees.
But that was a skill he’d acquired out of pure necessity. If he had things his way, he’d refuse to give the stuck up women of the nobility the time of day. Unfortunately, he had a role to play in all of his brother’s plans, and so he continued flirting with the noble ladies just long enough to leave them wanting more.
You, on the other hand, were no noble. In fact, you had no good fortune, distinguished education, or marriageable prospects to speak of. Truly, you were nothing but a mere face hidden amongst the shadows, which was perfect for an assistant to the Lord of Crime.
You’d begun to empathize with Albert’s disdain for these royal functions, mainly the lavish balls he and his brothers had little choice but to attend. It was important for them to keep up appearances as a well-rounded noble family who knew how to mingle with the upper-class, whether they enjoyed doing so or not. While they seemed to have gotten used to it for the most part, it proved to be quite the difficult adjustment for you. Thankfully, Albert had patiently taught you the ins and outs of noble life, giving you lessons on small talk and etiquette whenever time permitted.
However, he hadn’t yet taught you how to handle a nobleman’s advances.
“You must be Lady [Name],” the man greeted, holding out his hand for you to take. You briefly glanced towards Albert, taking his nod as a sign to follow through with the gesture. A kiss was placed onto your hand before the man let go, stepping back to better admire the exquisite sights around him. “It’s quite a splendid ball, isn’t it? There’s so many well-mannered and intelligent guests in our midst, such as you, young Lord Albert.”
“Lord Darnley, you are far too kind,” Albert said, placing a hand over his heart and bowing. “I ought to be extending the compliments to you. Your presence here is most welcome, as well as that of your entourage. Would the girl you brought with you happen to be your little sister, Lady Georgina?”
“Ah, I see you’ve made sure to memorize the names of all the guests! Indeed, she insisted on joining me, and no matter what I said, she refused to take no for an answer!” Darnley bellowed in laughter, briefly drawing the attention of the other guests nearby.
“She already seems to be quite the free spirit. I’m sure she has a bright future ahead of her.”
“If you’re so interested in my dear Georgina, I would be more than willing to sit down and discuss a potential marriage between the two of you.”
You swore you saw a flash of disgust appear in Albert’s eyes, but he simply smiled brightly at Darnley, careful that his emotions did not look fake or contrived. “While your offer is certainly generous, I have no plans of marriage at the moment. I’m afraid I’m already plenty busy with my service in the royal army.”
“Ah, what a shame,” Lord Darnley sighed, but his disappointment quickly turned to anticipation when his gaze once again fell on you. Your stomach lurched at the look in his eyes, but you tried to retain your composure, copying Albert’s mannerisms by offering a surface-level smile.
“Lady [Name], I am supposing you are not yet married if you’re attending this function with the Moriartys.”
“That would be correct, my good sir. How astute of you to notice.”
Lord Darnley grinned at the news like a hunter mere moments away from ensnaring this prey. “Well then, my lady, is there anyone that has asked for your hand yet?”
Goosebumps ran down your arms as you swallowed thickly. Anyone with a right mind knew exactly where this conversation was heading.
“I…well…” Should you tell the truth? Should you lie? But then who would you say had expressed a desire in marrying you? “It’s…complicated.”
“So, that would mean no formal question has been posed then, correct?”
“...Correct.”
You heard Albert’s feet shift next to you, on guard for whatever preposterous idea this nobleman could come up with next.
“Well, it’s certainly not good for a lady of your standing to be without a husband. I, myself, am quite the romantic, and I believe a courting period fosters a genuine love between both parties involved. If you have no one currently vying for your hand, perhaps you’d offer me the chance to earn it.”
No. No. On so many levels, no.
But this wasn’t about you—your happiness or married life did not come before the liberation of London. Whatever the brothers asked of you, you would adhere to their words, even if it meant having to be stuck with a man such as…this. Though you knew they’d never even entertain the thought of offering you up to some man who cared only for your beauty and status and nothing for your heart. If you were to refuse Darnley’s advances, at the least, you were confident the Moriartys would respect your decision.
Even so, you didn’t want to cause any more trouble for them. If you couldn’t agree to the idea of marriage, perhaps a date or two would suffice, right?
Just the thought made you feel sick.
“Well, what do you say, my lady? Will you allow me the pleasure of courting you?”
You knew you had to keep up appearances. You couldn’t allow for cracks to show in the perfect and amicable facade the Moriartys had carefully crafted. You knew that well, and yet…
This was a proposal that not even death itself could bring you to accept.
“I’m sorry, my lord, but I must sincerely refuse.”
Lord Darnley stared at you in alarm. “Come again? You didn’t just say no to my advances, did you?”
Your heart rate quickened as his words grew heated, and in that moment you wanted nothing more than to take off and hide somewhere safe and quiet in the manor’s garden, away from other people who might come up with even more ridiculous propositions.
“It’s just as you heard, my lord. I must decline.”
An uncomfortable silence hung in the air as Lord Darnley stared straight into your eyes, not blinking for several long moments. Your hands had begun to shake as you feared that you’d just begun tarnishing the reputation of the Moriarty family. Truly, there were fewer things more terrifying than a nobleman who felt he’d been insulted, and the consequences for such an offense would be nothing short of dire.
“Lady [Name], you are in no place to refuse my offer. You said yourself that no other man has even brought up the idea of marriage to you! Are you truly so brazen that you would reject the prospects of a life in union with mine? We all know who makes the decisions around here, and they’re certainly not made by women—!”
“My good sir, I believe you’ve said quite enough.”
A small gasp left your lips as Albert sneaked a hand around your waist, still carefully holding his glass of wine in the other. You searched his face for an answer as to what he was scheming, but he simply smiled—a true one this time—wordlessly reassuring you that all would be well.
“You see, Lady [Name] may not have received an offer of marriage as of yet, but that is only because I have been quite busy protecting our beloved country. I wish to propose when I am able to be at home more often and thus can fulfill my duties as a devoted husband to my wife. So I must politely ask that you rescind your offer, lest you make yourself seem as though you chase after taken women.”
Propose? Husband?
If you were afraid of tainting the Moriarty image, Albert clearly didn’t share your concerns.
“Taken? Why, I—! You’re bluffing, Lord Albert! You’re not planning on marrying this woman!”
“And what has brought you to that incorrect conclusion?”
“If that were the case, you would have brought it up the moment I asked if she were single!”
“To be fair, you asked if she’d received an offer for marriage, not if she was currently available to court.”
You could practically see the steam coming out of Lord Darnley’s ears, his face growing redder with each passing minute. He was still unconvinced, and for good reason, too, but you weren’t about to let Albert’s kindness go to waste.
You placed a hand on Albert’s shoulder, smiling up at him as he redirected his full attention to you. “It’s true, my lord. My affections have been reciprocated by my dear Albert, and I am patiently waiting for him to ask me to marry him. It will be a proposal I shall readily accept.”
Darnley scoffed, a hand placed over his heart in disbelief. “And you had the gall not to tell me when I’d begun to question you? Either you’re a terrible liar, or you’re just hoping to humiliate me in front of all these guests!”
“I would never dream of deceiving or insulting you, my lord. I should have made my relationship status clear to you earlier. Please forgive my carelessness.”
“I still think this is some elaborate hoax the both of you are trying to pull off. If not to tarnish my good name, then to convince every noble here that you’re worth the status bestowed on you at birth.” Lord Darnley swiped a fresh glass of wine off the tray of one of the waiters walking by, the man watching in horror as the lord downed all of the liquid in one gulp. His cheeks had started to take on a flushed hue from the great amount of alcohol he’d consumed that night, and with the way things were going, he was sure to be drunk by the end of it. “Perhaps, Lady [Name],” Darnley continued, a lopsided smirk forming on his face, “you’ve been lying about your social status, and you’re hoping that your marriage to Lord Albert will secure you a place in the upper class.”
Anger surged through you at his utterly ridiculous theory. Darnley had unknowingly gotten one fact right: you were a nobody. When you’d been taken in by the Moriarty family, you had nothing to your name but pen, paper, and the clothes on your back. But you knew one thing for sure: you had worth as a human being, and no one, noble or otherwise, would be able to change that.
And marrying a noble for status? What a laughable suggestion. As if you’d stoop so low just for some so-called “honor” among the elite.
“Well, dear sir,” you began, discreetly hiding a smirk behind your gloved hand, “I had no idea you were so foolish as to even come up with such an inconceivable thought. I once held you in high regard as I’ve heard many within the nobility sing your praises, but your current behavior is quite unbecoming of a person of your stature.”
You heard Albert try, and fail, to stifle a laugh next to you. You quietly breathed out a sigh of relief to see that he’d chosen not to reprimand your strong words. If anything, he seemed eager to encourage them.
As Lord Darnley frantically signaled for a waiter to bring him more wine, Albert took the opportunity to lean down next to your ear, whispering a simple yet heart-pounding question, “[Name], would it be all right with you to play further into these roles of enchanted lovers?”
Your breath caught in your throat, butterflies beginning to form in your stomach. “Of course,” you said. If only you knew how I truly felt, you wouldn’t even need to ask.
He smiled down at you, a sight that only stirred up the butterflies even more, and pulled you closer against him. Meanwhile, his eyes bored into Lord Darnley’s frame, darkening with every passing moment. If there was no one else in that ballroom, you had no doubt Albert would have leapt at the chance to get rid of him.
When Lord Darnley had finished downing another glass of wine, his fiery countenance returned to you and Albert. “You both are frauds,” he spat. “Everyone else here might be too dim-witted to figure it out, but I’ll make them aware that you’re not the upstanding moral characters you believe that you are.”
“It’s a shame to hear such vile thoughts coming from your own mouth, good sir,” Albert sighed. “But if I must be honest, I don’t care what any noble in this room thinks of me or the house in which I rule over.”
“Oh? And why is that, good sir?”
“Because,” Albert answered, turning his body towards yours, his visage noticeably softening when his focus returned to you, “the only person I want to please is the woman I adore. Not one person in the nobility is worthy of praise or merit—no one but her alone.”
Setting aside his glass, Albert gingerly took your hand in his own, meeting your eyes to silently ask for your permission. At your nod of approval, he lifted your fingertips to his lips, placing a gentle and almost reverent kiss against them.
“I love her,” he said, his sweet gaze reaching the very depths of your soul, “and when the time is right, I will make her mine.”
His words were like a match igniting the fire blazing in your heart, the flames fed by your deep affections for him, growing with every beat that thumped in your chest.
Your breath caught in your throat as his hand came to rest against your cheek, his touch so light yet so dizzying, more intoxicating than any wine you’d had that night.
Albert searched your eyes as all the feelings you’d tried to keep at bay finally came pouring in like waves. You were sure he could see it all: the admiration, the yearning, the love you’d kept locked away. But somehow he’d managed to find the matching key, the truth you’d been hiding for all these years finally at his reach.
His fingers traveled along your cheek and down to your jaw, this thumb tracing patterns against your skin. You were still dazed from his words to Darnley, but you brought yourself to meet Albert’s gaze once more, curious to see what truths you could uncover in his own expression.
And you wished you hadn’t, because when you saw the affection so clearly present in them, you wanted nothing more than to throw yourself into his arms and kiss him until the night turned into day.
Albert wasn’t oblivious, and you knew it. Whatever people thought of him as—a genius, a young prodigy, a man of great knowledge—his ability to read people was beyond the average person’s comprehension. And you knew when he’d finally figured out what the person he’d been surveying was hiding. His lips would quirk upwards ever so slightly, the dimples on his face just beginning to show, and he’d cock his head to the side, pleased with his findings.
And that was exactly how he was looking at you.
You’d placed your heart out in plain view of his observant eyes, and he’d figured you out. But now that he knew of your feelings for him, what was he planning to do with them?
Albert’s thumb drifted from your jaw down your lips, careful not to brush off the lipstick staining them. He stared at them for several moments, deep in thought, before he returned his eyes to yours, a single question hidden within them.
May I?
Already breathless, you squeezed his hand once, closing your eyes as Albert leaned in painstakingly slowly, every nerve in your body alight with anticipation. This was the moment you’d only been able to imagine in dreams, on nights where you sat wordlessly under the stars, silently wishing upon them in vain. They couldn’t grant you your desires. They couldn’t give you everything you ever wanted. You were the only one with the power to seize your opportunity and make your own wish come true.
And as Albert’s lips finally fell on yours, you smiled.
Your greatest wish was being granted right before your very eyes.
His lips tasted faintly of wine, and the subdued scent of his cologne still lingered on his collar. Combined with the warm and comforting touch of his hand cupping your face, your senses were overwhelmed in the most wonderful of ways. It felt as if you’d begun to float, brought into a fairy tale-esque trance where the entire world grew still except for you and Albert.
Time had stalled to allow you this moment of pure, undeniable bliss that not even the corrupt powers of this world could take away from you.
With his lips still on yours, Albert’s hand snaked further around your waist, gently pulling you closer against him. You practically had no room left between the two of you, and so in a moment of boldness, you placed one hand on his shoulder, the other on his chest, right above his heart. Even through his suit, you could feel it beating wildly.
It only made you wonder: did he truly mean what he’d said earlier? Did he really harbor such affection for you? Did he really intend…to make you his?
Before you could ponder anymore, Albert finally pulled away, cheeks faintly dusted with rose. He appeared somewhat dazed himself, but he kept his composure, still well aware of where the two of you were at the moment.
But this time when he turned to Darnley, he smirked, practically beaming from head to toe with delight as he spoke. “Well, Lord Darnley, do you believe us now?”
If looks could kill, both of you would have succumbed to that man’s rage.
Darnley’s hands gripped his wine glass so tightly that it shattered onto the floor, the remnants of wine staining his once perfectly polished suit. Other nobles stopped their conversations and turned to him upon hearing the commotion, a few of them even pulling out handkerchiefs.
“Sir, let me get you a new glass,” a waiter spoke, holding his hand out to take the broken one from him. But Lord Darnley was already fuming, and he shoved the waiter to the side, smashing the rest of the wine glass against the floor.
“You will pay for this,” he snarled. Sending you one final glare, he turned on his heel, marching out of the ballroom, hopefully never to be seen again (at least for the night).
“Well,” Albert breathed, laughing as he ran a hand through his hair, “I don’t think he’ll be bothering us anymore.”
“You’re right…Thank you, Albert.”
“What are you thanking me for?” he asked, gaze drifting back to yours. “I’ve done nothing to warrant your gratitude.”
You shook your head. “You have, Albert. You didn’t have to step in and save me from Darnley’s advances, but you did, even though doing so could have tarnished your family name. I’m indebted to you.”
Albert frowned ever so slightly, and you cocked your head to the side, confused. After a few moments, his gaze flickered to the people dancing around the room, his cheeks still tinged a beautiful red. “If you thought I was doing all that just to be a gentleman,” he murmured, “then I don’t know what it would take to make the truth clear to you...”
Well, suddenly you were the one left blushing.
“It’s not that. I…I don’t want to assume anything more, not when you’re such a precious person to me. I’m just scared of ruining what we have between us.”
Albert turned his attention back to you, using the hand that was still on your waist to pull you close to him again. Taking your other hand in his, he lifted it up to his lips, your faces now just mere inches apart.
“And what if I were to say that I do want something more?”
You almost wanted to pinch yourself to make sure it wasn’t all a dream.
But you still felt the press of his lips against yours, took in the smell of his cologne, and memorized the touch of his fingers running along your cheek. It was not a dream. It was even better.
Albert leaned down next to your ear, his breath fanning against your skin. “If one kiss isn’t enough to convey how much my heart yearns for you, then allow me to kiss you until you’re breathless, and no more words of doubt are left on your tongue.”
Albert smiled as your face grew redder, and with the way he bit his lip, you knew he was struggling not to comment on it.
“For a noble, you sure lack any semblance of shame, Master Albert."
Albert shook his head and chuckled to himself, that mischievous glint having once again returned to his eyes. “Keep teasing me and you’ll find out just how shameless I can be, darling.”
“Is that a threat or a promise?”
“Do you want to find out?”
Despite your flustered state, you couldn’t help but laugh, squeezing Albert’s hand tighter in yours. “If you want to kiss me so badly, do so in a place that’s actually romantic, will you?”
Taking you by the hand, Albert began to lead you outside of the ballroom and into the rose gardens. “Of course, and I’ll take my time to make sure I kiss you properly.”
You made a mental note to thank William and Louis for letting you tag along to the ball. If all went well, they would end up becoming your own brothers-in-law, after all.
But that could wait until you finally had Albert’s affections all to yourself.

Eat The Rich, Feed Them to the Cats - Moriarty Bros x Reader
Anyone else in the USA having a crisis? Me too! Let's all maladaptive daydream together that our sweet dear Sherlock boys are with us, on our side.
Title is inspired by a fav nonprofit cat shelter of mine, Wonky Hearts Animal Haven. Please go check them out. They have stories that are truly so heartwarming and uplifting, it's a great distraction.
(No, I do not believe all men are bad. I myself have a male fiance whom I love and trust very much. But the election has left me feeling helpless and scared, as though my rights or my body don't matter. I'm writing this to vent. I respect if your political opinions are different than me, but I ask that you do not attack me in the comments, my dm's, etc)
******************
William Moriarty
You two had been together for years now, since you two were teenagers. You've shared everything. Hopes, dreams, ideals... So when he saw someone try to harass you simply because of your gender? That won't do.
"Oi! Pretty broad!"
The random man's words did little to phase you. You didn't even speed up your footsteps. But your dear William stopped in his tracks.
Oh, yes, that's right. No one had ever been stupid enough to cat call you with him around before.
"Y/N..." his gaze had turned to the man, unblinking, "Did you not hear what that man just so crudely yelled at you?"
You shrugged, stopping in your tracks to try and let him catch up to you. He didn't dare move.
"It's nothing, William. Happens all the time to us ladies."
If you didn't know better, you'd say his eye just twitched.
"Is that so? And here I was, thinking it was mostly noblemen who were the rotten part of our society."
He smiled then. Like his mind wasn't 100% alongside you anymore.
His cane left the ground, being weilded in both hands almost like a baseball bat.
Or, more accurately, perhaps he was holding it like a mace.
It was safe to say, no man went within a few dozen meters of you for quite some time after that. After all, you always had your dear William with you now.
Louis Moriarty
Oh, did you think William would be protective?
Ha!
Louis is SO MUCH WORSE
To be completely fair, he was already practically a guard dog for both you and William. You had been engaged to him for a few months, and each passing day he just wanted to spend more time by your side.
This was how he found out how truly awful some men could be.
You two had boarded a train back to Durham, coming back from a lunch date together. You two had managed to score a semi-private spot in the lunch car, meaning that he could hold you without too much fuss from the rest of society. One hand was in yours, the other wrapped around your waist. You had both ordered drinks, his a sophisticated Earl Grey tea, yours a refreshing seltzer water. That was when your waiter came back up to you both.
"Sir, I know this is quite uncouth of me to say, but the gentleman a few seats down won't stop staring at your lady friend there." He gestured to you, specifically your chest, and you seemed to shrink into your seat instantly.
Louis scowled, "Thank you for informing me. You're dismissed, good sir."
The waiter stepped away, and Louis's grip on you got tighter.
"It's fine, darling. You mustn't fret." You tried to comfort him, but his scowl only deepened.
"I will fret." He turned his head, catching eyes with a man a few booths down. He did, indeed, seem to be staring at you. "And I'm going to teach him to respect others, or die trying."
You saw Louis stand, and approach the man in a terrifying calmness. He shook his hand, and gestured for him to follow him.
If you happened to see a person-shaped figure get thrown out of the train that day, no one has to know.
Albert Moriarty
He understands deep, seething rage. He dealt with it much when he was younger. So he understands that the best way to deal with it, is to take care of it yourself.
Normally, women weren't allowed into a prestigious college. But Albert, with his power and wealth, managed to convince the school that having one woman among its ranks wouldn't hurt. Hence, you being halfway through a science and medicine degree. Albert supported you all the way through. Your husband truly was a lovely, understanding man.
"It was fascinating, my love!" Your eyes lit up as you opened your textbook to that day's lesson, "We learned about the chambers of the heart, and all the illnesses and diseases that can correlate to it's health. Isn't that so cool!"
His smile widened at seeing you happy, "It certainly is, my dear. Do go on, teach me more about it."
You nodded, eyes bright, about to keep talking before-
"I'm sure anything is fascinating to a woman. But can she even understand it? Why, she should be at home, not trying to educate herself on something she could never possibly understand."
A man had approached you both. His smug grin was enough to dampen your joy immediately.
Albert blinked, his expression blank, before turning his head back to you, "My dear, would you like my walking stick, or do you want to use your textbook? After all, this fine gentleman seems in need of an anatomy lesson."
Your grin came back, "Your walking stick, please. I'd rather not get my favorite chapter dirty."
The man's eyes flew open as you took the wooden cane from Albert, weilding it more like a weapon than an aid.
"Now," The excitement in your expression was back, "I'll give you an anatomy lesson as I break all of your bones in alphabetical order."

__________________________________________________________________________
Fandom(s): Moriarty the Patriot
Pairing(s): Albert James Moriarty x Reader
Word Count: 2.9k
Genre(s)/Tag(s): Female!Reader, Holmes!Reader, Fake Engagement, Reader is short
Notes: I wrote this with the reader being the Holmes’s middle child. So, in between Mycroft and Sherlock :)
Here are their ages!
Mycroft: 31 | Reader: 27 | Sherlock: 24
__________________________________________________________________________
“Sit up straight, Sister.” Mycroft chastises, and you roll your eyes, propping your heeled feet up on the coffee table, much to his chagrin. You can tell he’s less than pleased with the mud on the table by the tightness around his eyes.
“Bugger off, Mikey.” You grumble and slouch even more in your seat. His frown deepens, but he knows better than to try and get you to obey. If anything, it would make you rebel even more.
You had never been one for proper manners if you could help it. You had always been a rough-and-tumble type of woman, playing in the dirt with the neighborhood kids while Mycroft and Sherlock dealt with their studies. Sure, you also had studies of your own. But overall, you tended to ignore whatever your governess taught you in favor of learning how to handle weapons from your father. Mycroft sits back in his seat and sighs,
“At least sit properly when the company gets here.” He mutters under his breath.
That gets you to sit up straight.
“Company?! Since when?!” You choke and hurriedly set down your teacup before you can spill it down your front. Your elder brother had summoned you to his office that morning with a telegram. But he hadn’t explained why you were there, even with your pestering. Mycroft glares at you pointedly and is about to answer when there’s a firm knock on the door.
“Come in.” He calls, his voice booming and loud in the quiet room.
A tall young man, perhaps your age, enters the room. He’s attractive, almost devilishly so. With slicked-back brown hair and piercing green eyes, he’s dressed in the typical uniform of all soldiers.
You recognize this man.
Your younger brother wouldn’t shut up about his family.
Lieutenant Colonel Albert James Moriarty.
You glare at Mycroft, who ignores your look in favor of standing up and shaking Lieutenant Colonel Moriarty’s hand. Brushing off the front of your dress, you stand as Mycroft gestures to you.
“This is my younger sister,” He says. Your name follows soon after. You plaster a bright smile on your face and extend your own hand. Lieutenant Colonel Moriarty bows slightly and introduces himself before you turn to look at your brother.
“I assume this is where I take my leave?” You ask, and he raises an eyebrow,
“On the contrary, dearest sister, you’ll be taking part in this meeting.” Your face betrays your shock before you can school it into a facade of perfect calm.
Lieutenant Colonel Moriarty notices but doesn’t comment.
Mycroft gestures for you to take your seats before his desk, and you do so, perching on the edge of the seat like a bird ready to take flight. In contrast, Lieutenant Colonel Moriarty sits back, relaxed in his chair, setting his hat in his lap and steepling his hands together.
“So, mind telling me what this ‘important mission’ is about?” He says politely, and you look at him from the corner of your eye.
Important mission?
Just what was your elder brother planning?
Mycroft leaned his hands on his desk and then leaned his weight on his hands. It seemed he wasn’t taking a seat quite yet.
That meant things were serious.
“There’s a mission I am entrusting to the both of you. It’s of the utmost importance and must be handled immediately.”
Wait…
“You’re what?!” You blurt just as Lieutenant Colonel Moriarty opens his mouth to speak. You don’t give him the chance to talk. You stand and jab a finger at Mycroft, the other hand clenched in the fabric of your dress skirt.
You weren’t about to be a pawn in your brother’s game. You weren’t even an MI6 agent or soldier of his!
“Absolutely not! This can’t possibly be legal! I’m just a civilian!” You stand and jab a finger at Mycroft, the other hand clenched in the fabric of your dress skirt. Mycroft stares down at you. He had always been the tallest of the three Holmes siblings. You were saddled with the hefty burden of being the shortest.
“You know this as well as anyone that MI6 operates outside the law,” Mycroft says simply, and you grind your teeth. He had a point. But still…
“What about Miss Moneypenny?” You ask, and Mycroft shrugs,
“She’s on another mission with Colonel Moran. You two are the only ones I trust with this.” He says, turning his intense stare onto you and Lieutenant Colonel Moriarty.
You flinch at that. Mycroft never openly said he trusted you. It was sometimes implied, but he knew how fickle you could be! Was this mission really that important?
Lieutenant Colonel Moriarty stands and accepts the papers Mycroft hands him. He then extends a hand for you to take. Begrudgingly, you take it and allow him to help you to your feet.
At least your ‘mission partner’ was a gentleman.
You accept Lieutenant Colonel Moriarty’s offer to take you back to the Holmes London estate and sit across from him in the carriage. He opens the papers Mycroft gave him and begins to read.
“Oh dear…” He mumbles, and you look over from where you had been watching the scenery go by. He has a frown pulling at his lips and creasing his brows.
“What’s the matter?” You ask, and he turns the papers around so you can read them.
“It seems we’ll need to be engaged for this mission to work.”
Your engagement was announced within the next week.
You had even commissioned an artist for an engagement photo of sorts. Granted, it was just for show, but still! You had to stand still for hours in a dress your mother picked out and that you loathed all for one portrait.
You never understood how royalty could do it.
Speaking of your parents…
Part of the facade was to make sure everyone was in on it. Maybe ‘in on it’ wasn’t the right word. Because this was a top-secret mission, after all. So you couldn’t exactly tell your parents that this engagement was fake. But you did have to tell them you were getting engaged lest you incur the wrath of your mother.
Wanda Holmes was a proper woman. She was everything you weren’t. Prim, proper, ladylike. The only thing you got from her was her height and her temper. She hated that you weren’t the little lady she dreamt of having. But there wasn’t a damn thing she could do about it.
In contrast, Timothy Holmes was a bit of a rule breaker. He fostered your love for weaponry and often challenged you to a shoot-off to see if you let your skills rust over. You inherited his knack for getting under people’s skins, and it was a wonder that he was still married to your mother after thirty years.
Telling them was an… interesting adventure, to say the least. As your carriage rumbled up to the country estate where they resided, they met you outside. Your mother had her hands clasped together, a newspaper crunched in her grasp. Her face was dark with disappointment.
Like the light side of the moon, your father all but bounded up as you stepped out of the carriage.
“Dearest daughter!” He bellowed, and you couldn’t help but grin.
“Dearest father!” You tease right back and step forward into his embrace. He squeezes you tight and lifts you up into a spin. You shriek with laughter and cling to him to make sure you don’t fall when he sets you back down.
“Darling, at least let her get into the house before you bother her.” Your mother says, and you roll your eyes but don’t say anything.
Lieutenant Colonel Moriarty steps out of the carriage, and your father’s demeanor changes. His smile is still there, but it no longer reaches his eyes. He extends a hand, and when Lieutenant Colonel Moriarty takes it, you can tell he’s holding back a wince from how hard your father squeezes it.
“Timothy Holmes. It’s a pleasure.” Your father says curtly, and you can tell Lieutenant Colonel Moriarty can tell he’s being judged. But he offers a polite smile nonetheless,
“Albert James Moriarty. The pleasure is mine, Mr. Holmes.” He says, and it’s then that your mother approaches. Lieutenant Colonel Moriarty shakes her hand,
“You must be the infamous Wanda Holmes. It’s lovely to meet you.”
Your mother’s face smoothes over, and she looks at you,
“At least you’re marrying someone with manners.” This is her only comment, and you can see that the newspaper in her free hand is the one announcing your engagement.
Perhaps you should’ve informed them by telegram instead of coming to visit for dinner…
No… That would’ve made her even angrier than she already was.
She soon ushers you into the little cottage that served as your parents' retirement home. The minimal staff on site has already prepared and served dinner, but you don’t eat just yet because your father catches your shoulder. He has a knowing gleam in his eye, and you can’t help but get a giddy smile on your face.
Of course, he wouldn’t forget.
Your mother notices, and her face sours.
“Can’t this wait until after dinner?” She asks, and now your father scoffs,
“Of course not, my love! It’s tradition!” He crows, and you can see Lieutenant Colonel Moriarty start to ask, but you’re taken out back before anything can be asked.
Lieutenant Colonel Moriarty follows you out, and by then, your father is setting up targets with you, assembling the two pistols you always used for this little exercise. You brush off your hands on your dress and hand your father the revolver. You take your own and pocket it in the holster strapped to your waist. He does the same and looks to Lieutenant Colonel Moriarty.
“Mind giving us a signal?” He asks, his tone much more friendly yet still a bit frosty at the same time.
Your ‘fiancé’ seems to pick up on what’s happening quickly and nods. He allows both of you to take a stance before calling out a signal.
The game takes less than twenty seconds.
You whip out your gun and unleash all six bullets in the cylinder and barrel. Your father does the same, and before you know it, both of your guns are empty, and your ears are ringing. Holstering the weapon, you wait for your father to do the same before approaching the targets.
Lieutenant Colonel Moriarty is called forward to inspect the targets as well.
“I believe your daughter is the winner.” He tells your father, and you grin proudly.
“Guess I haven’t lost my touch, Father Dearest.” You tease, and your father slaps his thigh in defeat,
“And I guess I’m losing mine!” He chirps, and your mother calls from the doorway.
“And it’s time for dinner!”
The carriage ride back is quiet.
“Where did you learn to shoot like that? I’ve never seen someone so accurate in a quick draw.” Lieutenant Colonel Moriarty says, and you jolt lightly. The food you had eaten was sending you into a food coma, and you had been dozing until he spoke.
“My father. He was known as “Dead-Eye” for a long time until he retired from the military.” You said, and he nodded in appreciation.
“He taught you well.”
You smiled and played with your fingers.
“Thank you, Lieutenant Colonel Moriarty.” You say genuinely, and he arches an eyebrow,
“You should call me Albert. We are engaged, after all, my dear fiancée.” His tone is borderline teasing. But you can tell he’s being genuine.
And for whatever reason, it makes your heart race.
The mission is kicked into gear three months after announcing your ‘engagement.’
The gala you are attending is only for married or engaged couples. Everyone was investigated to ensure no one single was sneaking in. Why they wanted to keep single folks out was a mystery to you. But you relented and accepted the invitation as the ‘Future Mrs. Moriarty’ with as much grace as you could muster.
You produced the invitation from your handbag and handed it to the man checking said invitation. Your free hand was looped through Albert’s arm, resting in the crook of his elbow. He chatted amicably with the doorman until you were announced as a couple and ushered inside.
The air was already alive with the sounds of music and dancing couples. The two of you make some rounds around the sides of the dance hall, looking for your target. Hell, you even danced the waltz to a few songs! All those lessons you thought were useless were sure coming in handy now… Perhaps you should thank your mother for forcing you to listen to your governess as a child.
Albert leans down to whisper in your ear as he brings you in from a gentle spin.
“He’s at the top of the stairs.” He murmured, looking for all the world like he was whispering sweet nothings to his fiancée. But instead, he was walking you through the next phase of the plan. Seeing as your job was to kill your target, he was instructing you on how to get to his office, where he would meet you and find the documents he was looking for.
Albert was to find the incriminating evidence. You were to kill the target if he tried to resist.
The office was warmed by a crackling fire. There’s a large mahogany desk in front of the fireplace with documents and papers scattered across the surface. You clutch your purse closer to your chest, feeling the sturdy weight of the revolver inside. It was comforting.
You had one job, so you would do it, and you would do it well.
The doorknob turned, and you jumped, sneaking a hand inside your handbag to draw the revolver. The door opens, and the target spots you in front of the dying light of the fireplace.
“Who are you?!” He bellows, but you know no one would be able to hear him over the sounds of music and talking.
He doesn’t hear the door shut behind him until Albert slides the lock into place. He whirls and tries to push past your fiancé, but it’s like trying to move a stone wall.
“What are you going to do to me?!” The target demands, and Albert smiles a terrifying smile. It was nothing like the kind and even tender smiles he had been giving you as of late. This smile darkened his eyes.
It was almost… Cruel…
“Nothing if you cooperate.” He says darkly and pushes the man to sit in the chair before his desk. You walk behind him and press the muzzle of your revolver to the back of his balding head. He freezes, a drop of sweat traveling down his temple.
Albert rifles through the desk, and no one says a word for what seems like forever.
At least… Until the target tries to run.
The chair has a low back. It’s almost more of a stool, so he throws his head back and cracks it into your nose. You stumble back and fall, tripping over the hem of your dress. The only thing keeping you from firing your gun is the fact that your father had engrained it into you to not keep your finger on the trigger until you were ready to fire.
Albert freezes and reaches into his suit jacket coat, but you’re faster.
Before the target can even make it two paces, you fire your revolver, and the bullet sinks into his skull. Brain matter and blood spatter across the carpet. The pain sets in as Albert helps you to your feet and hands you a handkerchief for your bleeding nose.
There’s no way you could go back out into public like this…
And as always, it seems Albert reads your mind.
“We’ll escape out the window.” He says and pockets a few documents.
“Did you get what you need?” You ask, and he nods, his smile tender and warm again.
It makes your heart flutter.
The two of you escape out the window like Albert had said. Luckily, the carriage was already waiting outside, so you were able to retreat without being seen.
Mission accomplished.
You scowl at Mycroft as he reads through your very first report from MI6.
“It’s a bit lackluster, but everything went according to plan?” He asked, and you huffed.
“Except for the part where I broke my nose.” You say, your voice slightly garbled from the bandages on your nose. Mycroft simply nods,
“These things are expected to happen. Be glad it wasn’t anything more serious.” He says, tangles his fingers together, and leans his chin on them. “If you’d like, we can feed the newspapers a story about your and Lieutenant Colonel’s parting of ways. You don’t have to be engaged to him anymore.” He continues, and you freeze.
Not be engaged anymore?
“What about Mother and Father? They’ll be furious.” You say absentmindedly, and he cocks his head to the side.
“Since when have you ever cared what they think?” He says, confusion coloring his tone. You avert your gaze.
“I’m just saying… I don’t mind taking more missions from you from now on…” You mumble and stare at the carpet. But you can hear the smile in his tone when he speaks next.
“If that’s what you desire, sister dearest. I’ll let Lieutenant Colonel know of your decision.”

↬|Albert|
Honestly, all his heart. Albert trusts and adores his S/O so much that he isn't even afraid to cry in front of them. He is *very* vulnerable with his S/O and is always seeking their comfort and reassurance. He might not outright say it, but he *needs* his S/O in order to function. As someone who is so used to having to hide his true emotions, Albert is so incredibly thankful to have a S/O that he actually trusts with his heart. He would genuinely be lost without their presence. As if they were a light in the storm of his life. He really does try not to overstep any boundaries, but the need to be close to them at all times is too much for him. He'll cling onto their arm, wanting to show the world that they belong to him and he'll do anything for them.
┣━━━━━━━━━━━━━┅┅┅┄┄
↬|William|
William... would bare most of his heart to his s/o. He would be completely vulnerable and open to them, trusting them with everything. He would share his innermost secrets and feelings with them, even things he doesn't show anyone else. He would be very protective and possessive of them and would do anything to keep them safe and happy, even if it means putting himself in danger. you think it's sweet, right? But let me tell you everything will change when you want to leave him.
┣━━━━━━━━━━━━━┅┅┅┄┄
↬|Louis|
His s/o is the person he is the most vulnerable around, he bares his whole heart and soul around them. They are the only person he can’t hide anything from, his s/o knows him just as well as himself. He’d trust them with his life and even his own heart, not holding anything back. He makes sure to keep his guard up and his emotions in check around everyone else, even his own family. But around his s/o, he’d be a complete mess of feelings with no control.
┣━━━━━━━━━━━━━┅┅┅┄┄
↬|Sebastain|
Sebastian has a lot of walls guarding his heart, not trusting anyone. He's a very guarded person due to past experiences of being betrayed, and therefore, he never likes to get too close with people. This changes when his s/o comes into the picture, as they're the only person he would ever want and trust to see every part of him. He's extremely vulnerable when it comes to his S/O; he's vulnerable to their words, their opinions, their emotions, their needs. Any pain or discomfort they experience will also make him worry. Sebastian is highly overprotective of his S/O, not allowing anyone to get physically or emotionally close to them. As a result, he's always very possessive in terms of having their complete attention and care, wanting them all for himself and no one else. He becomes very intense and obsessed with the notion of owning and having total control over them, going far as to use violence to keep them as his, and his alone. Overall, he's highly aggressive and extremely unhinged when it comes to his intense love for his S/O.
┣━━━━━━━━━━━━━┅┅┅┄┄
↬|Sherlock|
To start with, Sherlock is a very closed-off person when it comes to emotions. He can appear indifferent or uninterested to most, putting on his usual poker face or sarcastic tone. However, when it comes to his s/o, he is quite different. He would be quite vulnerable when it comes to his s/o. He would only let down his walls and allow himself to be genuine around them. His usual teasing demeanor would soften, and he would show a more sensitive, caring side. Sherlock would likely open up to them about his deeper thoughts and feelings, sharing things he wouldn't reveal to anyone else. Sherlock would become extremely attached and possessive of his s/o. He would constantly want to be around them and would get very jealous when they even so much as look at someone else. He would want them all to himself, and become very protective, almost like a guard dog, ready to snap at anyone who comes too close. He would constantly monitor his s/o's whereabouts and activities.
┣━━━━━━━━━━━━━┅┅┅┄┄
↬|John|
If that's the case, John is very devoted to his partner, but he may struggle with opening up about his emotions. John is a reserved and practical man, and sometimes he has a difficult time expressing his feelings and emotions, and he may struggle with vulnerability at times, even with his significant other. It takes him a while to fully open up and let someone in his heart, and even then, he may have a tendency to keep some of his thoughts and feelings private.

lol I saw the pregnancy headcanons and immediate thought of all those victorian and regency movies where the labor process is bad and the doctors asking the husband who to save, the child or the wife. It's always fun to see period drama yans realize that their darling could just die due to their greed
Oh my gosh, the darling would be absolutely terrified and so would almost every single yandere, like not going to lie I could picture this happening with Albert and his darling when she had the twins because that would have been a high risk pregnancy at the time and I can just imagine the pure panic all around the house when it was happening. Besides Albert, I imagine Louis would be busy trying to keep the other children in the house distracted, especially Andrei because he does not to know that there is a possibility of him not having a mother tomorrow. Then Albert is holding his darling’s hand when the doctor asks him that question and it looks like he saw death himself and honestly it takes him a few minutes to recover from that question and when the doctor asks him again he nearly looses it, terrified to loose any of them.
“My Lord, you need to-“
“Save them both!”
“My Lord-”
“Save them both, do what you have to but neither my wife or child will die here.”
The doctor probably thought Albert was in hysterics due to the shock but when seeing the look on Albert’s face, dead emotionless and staring into the soul of the doctor. Honestly the doctor probably thought Albert was out of his mind requesting something like that, most would save the child because they were the heir but Albert already had his eldest, Albert was just terrified of loosing them…
Eventually morning did come and the house was at peace again, and when little Andrei peaked into his parents room he saw his mother asleep with one of the two little girls asleep in her arms with her mother and the other being cradled by her father who was running patterns on her skin with the covert tip of his fingers. Albert definitely notices his sun in the doorway and gestures for him to come here with his head.
“Meet you two little sisters, I am holding Hyacinth and your mother is holding Marguerite.”
“…May I hold her?”
“Not just yet, let everyone sleep a little while longer.”

“Stay with me, I don’t want you to leave.”
The lipstick glided across your lips as you applied it once more, accidentally getting the red pigment on the side of your lip. A gentle thumb reached over to your mouth, wiping off the stain on your skin carefully. You turned to face him as he held your chin in his hand, you were smiling at his longing expression, face covered in red kisses as you leaned in to kiss him once more, on his soft lips.

Hello, first of all I am happy to write to you all again. My transformation was a bit of bad news, and I would like to get help from the audience, which is actually mostly British. As you may know, wattpad has been blocked in Turkey and we, the readers, cannot access the books due to financial insufficiency, especially in today's economic conditions. I have a request for all of you. At the moment, we are trying to reach large audiences with the tag (#wattpadeözgürlük) on x, But unfortunately, we cannot reach as large an audience as we would like because our language is not English. If I ask, can you at least all help us with the #openwattpadback tag? It may be a bit selfish, but the young people in our country desperately need it. Please let anyone who is willing to get back, we desperately need this 💗

Albert Moriarty was a risk taker, and anyone who knew him well enough was aware of that. He liked to act on his whims (which always actually were carefully-constructed plans that depended a little too much on chance) despite knowing that he might very well lose it all, and he loved nothing more than pulling the rug from underneath everyone’s feet without them realizing. He was a wicked man, through and through.
But more wicked than anything he’d done was the way he was currently fucking his sweetheart half-dumb with his back against the wall in an abandoned drawing room, the loud sounds of the party still going on in the ballroom next-door.
Their fists were bunched in his smart shirt, desperately trying to hold onto anything as his cock mercilessly drove deeper into them; deep enough for them to jolt in his arms and arch their back in such a lewd way that, paired with the sex-drunk look in their hazy eyes and their kiss-swollen lips, it almost had him cumming on the spot.
This was much more frenzied than they’d ever seen Albert try to bed them. In fact, the way he wildly snapped his hips upwards as his arms pulled them deeper into his chest and faster down his cock was almost determined to fuck the common sense out of them.
They were already far too gone; after all, under no circumstances had they ever expected to find themselves being pumped full of his cum—not once, but twice—in the room next to the one where all the nobility of the ‘Ton mingled and chattered.
But how could they focus on anything else, when every vein and every ridge of him dragged against their walls so deliciously? How could they form a coherent thought, when his swollen tip abused that one spot that drove them mad with lust and had them writhing in his arms and crying his name like a wanton whore?
“Albert! F-fuck, slow down—!”
He clicked his tongue in mocking disapproval, an almost-condescending smile on his perfect face as he saw how their actions contradicted their words. They were pushing back to meet every single one of his thrusts, eager for the pornographic squelching that came with the meeting of skin against skin and his cock into their sopping hole.
“You say that, but all I hear is 'more, more, more,’” he chuckled. His hands had a mind of their own at this point. One had sought purchase in their thigh, fingers digging deep enough to leave bruises that had them squirming delightfully in their seat for days afterwards, while the other had reached up to pinch at their hardened nipples through their fancy clothes. “And I need to fuck you well enough to leave a mark inside you. After all, no one can do this but me, hm?”
A strangled moan left their mouth as he drove in particularly deep to punctuate the point he was trying to make.
“Your words, sweetheart.”
“Oh, God, yes. Sir, yes, sir. Only you, sir.”
With a tug at their thick locks, he smashed their mouths together, hungrily kissing them as if they would die if they weren’t connected in every single way possible. Teeth gnashed and tugged, and tongues tasted and sucked, so messily that he could swear he could see them drooling a little past the corner of their mouth.
Breathily, after pulling away for a moment, he asked, “Not even Lord Harrington?” What they could muster was only a small sound of dazed confusion, to which he tugged at their hair again and forced them to meet his burning emerald gaze. “He seemed awfully friendly with you earlier. Going on and on about his lands and perks, I presume?”
“N-no! Albert, I would never—“
“It isn’t a matter of whether or not you would, darling. Of course you wouldn’t,” he chuckled half-heartedly, though there was anything but mirth in his voice. He slammed up into them, his pace growing unforgiving, and causing them to twist and whine out another plea. “After all, he wouldn’t be able to ruin you like this. I always knew you liked it rough. I wonder, what he would say if he saw you like this, full of my cock and begging for it harder?”
In a rather ironic twist of fate, the door handle of the drawing room was being twisted open at that moment, and Albert barely had a few seconds to pull the both of them behind the curtains and press them up against the window. Footsteps resounded in the room, and he could hear the sigh of what could only be Lord Harrington himself sitting in an armchair and pulling out a cigarette in the furthest corner of the room.
Albert’s cruel smirk showed just how delighted he was at this turn of events. Before they could even register what was happening, he began pounding into them again, earning a surprised keen of pleasure, before he clamped his hand over their drooling mouth.
“Be quiet,” he hissed into their ear, “We're not alone. Or do you want Lord Harrington to see you all fucked out and desperate for my cum?” When he felt them clenching around him at his words, a jolt of surprise and arousal ran through him. “Oh? Looks like you do want that. Want him to see your pathetic little hole stretched around me? I could arrange that, darling. Just say the word.”
A pinch to their aching nipple, and then a tap to their thigh urged them to push harder against him and take him in deeper. Impossibly fast and ruthless, Albert paid little mind to the fact that Lord Harrington was smoking a mere few meters away from them and could very easily hear them, if not see them altogether. After all, it seemed like his naughty sweetheart had taken a liking to the idea of getting caught.
With a practiced hand, he reached down to teasingly touch them right where they liked it, mixing that with his firm grip. His other hand muffling their breathy gasps and shameless moans, it didn’t take long for him to feel their muscles spasming around him, their orgasm coming crashing into them. That delicious feeling alone coaxed his throbbing length to spill inside their warm walls, and he cursed under his breath at the sight of his cum spilling from where they were joined so messily, and down their flushed and bruised thighs.
In a daring display of lewdness that almost stunned him, they scooped his release from between their thighs as he pulled out of them with a low hiss, and stuck their fingers into their mouth. A satisfied hum, and they were licking every drop off their wet fingers. That sight alone kindled yet another raging fire inside of him; one that couldn’t be satisfied with a mere quick fuck behind the curtains.
“Just so you know,” they shakily whispered, clinging onto his lapels as they still seemed a little exhausted from their passionate craze, “It’s not his presence that makes the difference. It’s the thought of you showing us—me, off. That’s all, really.”
Albert could only swallow thickly, as he felt his heart thud in his chest. He barely registered the fact that Lord Harrington’s footsteps had taken him out of the room and closed the door behind him. All he could think of at the moment was that he couldn’t think of a more perfect person to have fallen so irrevocably in love with.
With a gentleness that had been absent from his fit of jealousy, he began to readjust their rumpled and half-strewn clothes. Clasping their sticky hands in his, he pulled them in closer for a tender, almost-laughably-chaste kiss to their soft lips.
“Let’s go outside and bid everyone our farewells. We can make it back home before ten.” He glanced at his watch for confirmation, then nodded. Brushing back their hair, he met their eyes, no less sensual, but all the more fond. “I want to love every inch of you tonight.”

How Touching
How Albert would react to a reader who doesn't like physical intimacy at first in the modern era.
Albert James Moriarty
A/N: Sorry for the long absence, a lot has happened and writer's block has made a home in my head rent-free at this point it's almost homophobic :) (as you can probably tell with this one so advanced apologies!) late happy pride month! 💕🏳️🌈🏳️🌈
Tag/s: One-Shot with Headcanons, Modern!AU, Long (2.2k words)
Warning/s: Slightly Suggestive(???)
When you first joined the Moriartys with their plan to abolish the class system, the group welcomed you with open arms.
Quite literally with how Bonde tried to hug you as a greeting.
You evaded him smoothly, surprising the man and the others.
But you explained how you were uncomfortable with physical touch, and everyone respected your boundaries.
Despite the awkward start, everyone still welcomed you.
And as time passed, you slowly grew closer to everyone in the group.
But especially with the oldest Moriarty, seeing as your job usually involved assisting him.
Whether being his partner on missions or attending parties with the rich, you two are usually seen together.
It also doesn't help that you were mostly in charge of maintaining the manor in London when Louis and Master Jack were away.
Because of this, you also tend to stay with him in London while William and the others are back in Durham.
This leads to you and Albert sharing chores in London.
While Albert is a master when it comes to cleaning, you always make sure he's nowhere near the kitchen or at least have you there to supervise.
The first time you tried his cooking, you were out of commission for three days.
Because of how much time you spend together, you two started to get closer.
And this didn't go unnoticed by your housemates.
"(Y/N), have you seen my-?"
"-It's in your coat pocket,"
"And the-?"
"-It's already in your suitcase,"
"And did you already inform-?"
"-Yes, Director Holmes is aware of your return to London tonight," you answered as you showed him the email you sent to the director.
Albert chuckled as he loosened his collar, "What would I do without you?"
You smirked at his remark as you fixed his loosened collar and necktie.
"Well, aren't you just a perfect match," Sebastian commented from the couch, watching you two blankly.
You froze at his words as you turned away, making sure your expression remained neutral.
"It's almost freaky, to be honest..." he shuddered, making you chuckle.
"Don't you have a chimney to sweep, colonel?" Albert reminded, earning a glare from Sebastian as the doors burst open, Bonde running inside the room.
"You're really leaving already? We planned to go to that new restaurant this afternoon," Bonde asked as he walked in, seeing you and Albert grabbing your coats.
"Yes... The director suddenly called saying it was an urgent matter, so our plans will have to be rescheduled," you explained, much to Bonde's disappointment.
You smiled softly at him as you gave him a gentle hug.
"Don't worry, I'm sure we can go there some other time," you reassured as you pulled away, seeing a shocked expression from the three men.
"...What?"
"You hugged him..." Sebastian pointed out, making you raise a brow and smile.
"Yes, and what about it?" you teased, hugging Bonde again, surprising them for a second time.
"What the-?!"
"Awww, (N/N)!" Bonde smiled as he hugged you back tightly, cherishing the moment as you laughed.
"No way..." Sebastian breathed out a smile, "To think Bonde would be the first..." he smirked, looking over to Albert, who held a faux smile as he walked up to you and Bonde.
"(Y/N), I believe it is about time for us to leave?" he reminded, making you gasp.
"Right! I'll go call a cab," you hurriedly walked out of the manor, hoping you wouldn't miss the last train back to London.
Sebastian laughed wholeheartedly as the door behind you closed, hitting Albert's back while Bonde kept a hand over his mouth, hiding a proud smile from the oldest Moriarty.
"Didn't expect you to be the possessive type!" Sebastian snickered, making Albert lightly scoff and swatted Sebastian's hand.
"I don't know what you're talking about," Albert denied as he grabbed the bags.
"(Y/N) is a reliable comrade to all of us,"
"Then why don't you let them stay in Durham with us?"
"Because their skills are needed in London,"
"But what if William asks them to stay with us?"
"Then there's no helping it, I suppose,"
"Oh?" William's voice cut through, catching everyone's attention.
"Then you finally agree to have (Y/N) stay with us for this weekend?" he asked, but Albert stayed silent as he kept facing away from the group.
"You seemed quite adamant about having them join you back to London mere moments ago when we were discussing in my office," William added, making Albert sigh as Sebastian and Bonde grinned from ear to ear.
"My, my, Al. How unprofessional," Bonde teased as he tried to see Albert's face, now contorted in irritation as he kept his smile.
"It seems (Y/N)'s skills are needed here in Durham more than in London," Sebastian added, wrapping an arm around Albert's shoulders,
"Such a shame..."
William chuckled as he walked up to the group, giving Albert a piece of paper.
"Here are the details for your and (Y/N)'s next mission in London. It seems (Y/N) is more needed in London after all," William innocently smiled, making Albert sigh.
"...I will make sure to visit again next week with them,"
"Thank you, Nii-san. And do not worry about (Y/N)'s affections," William commented, perking Albert's ears.
"I'm certain they also consider you one of their closest companions. But you must be more proactive if you wish for them to see you as something more," he reassured the oldest Moriarty, catching everyone's attention.
"That is not-"
"-The cab's here!" you announced as you hurried back inside, seeing everyone gathering around Albert.
"...What? Do we have another meeting before leaving?" you questioned, making the others share a look as they left, saying their goodbyes as Albert walked up to you with your bags and coats.
"What were you discussing while I was gone?" you questioned as Albert gave you your coat and scarf.
"Just..." Albert replied, looking down at the paper William gave him, "Have courage" written on it, "... Just the details for our next mission," he smiled, pocketing the piece of paper as he helped you with your scarf, careful not to touch you.
"...I shall tell you later,"
During the trip back to London, you noticed Albert has grown quiet, deep in his thoughts.
As you tried to ignore the man's change of behavior, he suddenly called your name and asked what you thought of everyone in the group.
Confused by the sudden question, you shrugged it off and answered honestly, seeing everyone as a trusted companion, possibly even family.
"Really?"
"Yes. Don't you see me as one?" you jokingly asked, making Albert smile widely.
"...No, I cannot say the same," he answered, shocking you. You quickly turned to him and saw him looking at you with straightforward eyes.
"You may have started as one of my most trusted companions, but I never saw you as family," he explained, straightening himself up as he grabbed the end of your scarf.
"But as a lover," he clarified, gingerly kissing the end of your scarf as he kept his eyes on you.
After his declaration of love, the trip back to London felt excruciatingly long.
Nonetheless, you admitted you felt the same you both agreed to take it slow.
Albert was a true gentleman in the whole relationship, making sure you were comfortable with everything.
He makes sure to spend time with you, whether it's just at home or out on a date, giving you gifts, and words of reassurance.
He would never make you feel you were lacking or guilty about taking the relationship slow.
He also never tried to touch you or force himself on you.
He might feel jealous whenever you and others hug, such as Bonde, Fred, or your close friends, but he won't force you to do the same to him.
"You will be gone for three weeks?" you repeated in disbelief as Albert nodded dejectedly.
"Yes, which is why we discussed that you should stay in Durham with the others in the meantime,"
"I see... If that's the case, I need to see some things before I leave," you muttered, trying to plan your sudden leave as you looked around the manor.
Albert breathed out a laugh as he let out a dramatic sigh, catching your attention.
"How cold... And I thought you would miss me more," he teased, opening one eye at you with a playful smile.
You scoffed as you walked up to him, cradling his cheek.
"You will be coming back home to me after, are you not?" you questioned, making him smirk.
"Always," he reassured, taking your gloved hand and kissing your knuckles.
You smiled as you interlocked your fingers with his, clasping it.
"Then I have nothing to worry about,"
"(N/N)!" Bonde beamed as he ran up to you, giving you a hug as he squeezed you tightly.
You giggled as you hugged him back, returning the same affection.
"You should go on more overnight trips, Al," Bonde joked, making Albert roll his eyes with a smile as he put on his hat.
"Next time, I shall bring (Y/N) with me," Albert mused, kissing your gloved hand again.
"Take care, Albert-nii-san," Louis smiled as Albert waved goodbye to everyone.
"Goodbye,"
"Take your time~,"
"Be careful...!" you warned, sighing at the memory of Albert returning home in a bloody uniform.
"Aww... Miss him already?" Bonde teased with a toothy grin, making you scoff and lightly push him off.
"Come on... I remember Louis saying we're doing some spring cleaning in the manor?" you reminded, making Bonde and Sebastian freeze.
"Oi! Keep your mouth shut...!" Sebastian shouted in a whisper as he grabbed your head, making you grin.
"That's right..." Louis started, a dark glimmer shining from his glasses, "I hope you two are done with your portions?"
It's been two weeks since Albert's trip, and he has been calling you every night and leaving short, sweet texts throughout the day.
But, you couldn't help but feel uneasy.
"Hey, (Y/N)!" Sebastian called out, snapping you out of it.
"Y-Yes?"
"William's calling everyone for a meeting," he reminded, raising a brow at you.
"What's wrong with you?" he questioned, making you shake your head.
"It's nothing," you faked a smile as you walked ahead, unsure if it was a topic you could bring up to the man.
As you walked ahead, Sebastian couldn't help but let out a sigh as he followed you along.
"Lovebirds... What a pain,"
"Well! This is new," Bonde smiled as he swirled his martini while Sebastian downed his third whiskey for the night.
"I didn't think you would be the type to offer free drinks, (N/N),"
"I'm not," you sighed, nursing your cup of water, "But I would like to talk to you both in private..." you muttered, looking around your booth for any familiar faces or peeking heads.
"Since you two seem the most... acquainted with this subject..." you added, fiddling your fingers as you stared down at your drink.
Sebastian raised a brow while Bonde furrowed his brows, looking at each other as if trying to figure out what you were alluding to.
"So... What is it?" Bonde asked, taking a sip of his drink while Sebastian tried to catch the attention of a nearby server.
You felt your face burn as you took a deep breath, gathering up all of the courage you had.
"How do you know when's the right time to be physical with your partner?" you asked in one quick breath with your eyes shut.
Sebastian froze while Bonde choked on his drink, making him cough.
"A-Are you all right, sir?" the server Sebastian called asked Bonde, who dismissed him.
"Y-Yes... I'm fine," Bonde coughed as you tried to give him your drink while Sebastian asked the server to just bring more whiskey.
"Thanks..." Bonde sighed, clearing his throat as he looked at you.
"(Y/N), by... physical, you mean...?" Sebastian asked in a hushed tone as he and Bonde leaned to you across the table.
You felt your face flush as you looked away, hiding behind your hands.
"L-Like kissing, and such..." you clarified, stunning the two men.
They both sighed as Sebastian leaned back in his seat with a hand over his eyes while Bonde had his face in his hands.
"That's what you meant..."
'It'll come naturally, huh...' you thought, remembering your conversation with Bonde and Sebastian.
You sighed as you focused on your chores and hoped for the best, just as they advised.
As you fixed the dinner table, you heard the front doors open, making you gasp and look back.
"I'm back," Albert announced, wearily putting away his coat.
You instinctively ran out of the dining room and to the entrance.
As Albert caught sight of you, he immediately smiled as you kept running up to him.
"(Y/N), I found-" you wrapped your arms around him tightly, sighing as your body eased up at his warmth.
Albert, on the other hand, was stunned as you kept hugging him.
"(Y/N)...?" he called out as he hovered an arm around you.
You breathed out a smile as you looked up at him, squeezing him lightly,
"Welcome back," you greeted as you cupped his cheeks, kissing his lips.
Albert blinked in surprise before wrapping his arms around you, deepening the kiss.
When you pulled back, you felt Albert leaning to you before opening his eyes, and smiling at you.
"I missed you too,"

Yandere morarity (Whoever) with a reader that escapes easily from their home/prison just to do little stuff like get groceries, buy flowers, etc.
I do this for Albert and maybe others later. Depends is this succes or not lol
Yandere Albert James Moriarty
This would happen after a legal kidnapping.
Albert calls it your marriage...
You would disagree.
Albert would be at work and you would be bored.
Most of the manor's residents were also busy.
Some joint plans for a better world.
They didn't interest you much.
You would choose to entertain yourself and try to escape.
For some reason, you had missed visiting the store.
A normal thing you weren't allowed to do anymore.
So you decided to do it.
What would be the worst thing that could happen?
However, you didn't know that Albert would come home from work earlier that day.
He would have a heart attack when he realized you were nowhere to be found.
Did someone steal you?
If you had escaped how?
Albert would start looking for you right away.
He wouldn't have time to find you.
Instead, you return with a bag of bread.
You will have a very long conversation.
Albert tries to explain to you that it's not safe to leave alone and you try to explain to Albert that you don't want anything to do with him after the kidnapping.
Communication problems 101

New Perspective - William Moriarty x Reader
Hey, ya'll! I'm back again. I took a really brief break because I had a mental breakdown, quit my job, got pneumonia, and I'm now prepping to go back to college in January! I'm going for a bachelor's degree in computer animation with a minor in creative writing! So, in honor of that, here is our sweet Moriarty boy's reaction to us ditching everything to go to art school lol
************************
Willliam is a man of science and logic.
He's been a genius since childhood. The youngest professor in the country. He's a prodigy in every way you can imagine.
Any you?
You're his fiance, miserable in a job that you can't stand anymore. You're an artist at heart. And, though it shames you to admit so, you're going to lose your mind if you have to put up with another day of these stupid accounting clients.
Hearing the front door slam shut, William looked up from his papers, noticing the furrow of your brow, "Y/n? What happened, dear?"
You'd truly been trying to hold the emotions in. He had enough on his plate. But hearing his concern, seeing him rush up to your side? Your walls crumbled immediately.
"I- I can't do it anymore, Will! I can't!" Your hands went to your hair, balling it into knots, but his own strong fingers brought them back to your sides.
"What can't you do anymore? How can I help?"
Your eyes focused on his. Dripping crimson filled your vision, and all you could do was continue to sob.
"My job! I can't do it anymore! I hate those people- I hate it all! The numbers, the forms, the laws I need to know..." You continued on, sinking deeper into William's embrace the more you spoke. Without even thinking it, you couldn't help but say what had been on your mind for months now, "All I want is to paint..."
William's hand was rubbing little circles into your back, listening quietly.
"Then quit."
You paused, drawing back to get a clear view of his face. There wasn't a shadow of anger, just compassion written on his soft features.
He chuckled at your confusion, "I am noble, my dear. I have more than enough funds to support the two of us."
You blinked back the last of your tears, "The only reason I took that job was because I didn't want to be dead weight. You work so much. You support me more than I can ever repay."
He shook his head, "And one day, when your paintings sell for thousands of pounds each, you can try to repay me. But truly, love, there is nothing for you to repay. I love you, and I can more than afford to help you."
His finger gently wiped a tear from your cheek, "Now, how about you get cleaned up a little, and we take you to one of those paint shops downtown?"

Prompt: 9) Showing up to surprise their lover when they’re in a long-distance relationship (Action Prompt #9)
Notes: The mentioned war in this is fictional. I don’t know exactly when MTP occurs, so I’m making this up.
__________________________________________________________________________
It was safe to say you were miserable.
William could tell.
Fred could tell.
Hell, even Moran could tell.
The only person who couldn’t tell was the only one who wasn’t there.
Of course, you had letters. You exchanged them as frequently as the mail system would allow. Still, you didn't get many with Albert overseas managing soldiers in the East. You kept said letters in a box by your bedside, reading them by candlelight when missing your husband got particularly bad.
Seven months, three weeks, and seventeen days since he had been gone with no end in sight.
You sigh for the umpteenth time that day, and Moran throws down his cards in frustration.
“If you’re not gonna play, then don’t play! I don’t want to play with you while you’re mopey and depressed!” He snaps, and you glare in his direction. He flinches at the frosty look and holds up his hands with a “geez, sorry.”
Eventually, you leave Moran alone, and he bugs Fred into playing a round of poker with him and Jack.
William finds you out in the gardens of the Moriarty estate.
He sits beside you without a word as you read through Albert’s latest letter. It had been delivered earlier that week. It contained the usual: whatever updates he could give you, responses to your letters, how much he missed and loved you, and asked the occasional odd question when he detailed what he had been doing since his last letter.
“I’m being insufferable, aren’t I?” You ask your younger brother-in-law, who simply hums as he watches a light breeze sway the flowers Fred worked so hard for.
“I don’t believe you’re being insufferable. A little tiresome to deal with, maybe, but everyone understands why so they don’t mind.” He says, and you look up from the letter,
“Except for Moran. I think he’s about ready to wring my neck.” William huffs out a laugh at that.
“Except for maybe Moran.” He agrees.
The two of you sit in silence for a minute. But it isn’t an uncomfortable silence. Instead, it’s warm and welcoming. It was something you sorely missed from Albert.
And something you likely wouldn’t have for a while.
“I’m afraid I must get back to my duties. With Albert gone, his responsibilities as a Lord have fallen to me.” William says and stands. He offers you a smile that has something concealed behind it.
What was he hiding?
You narrow your eyes, but he says nothing more, instead leaving you to your own devices as you trace the letters in Albert’s note with your thumb.
“They’re rather beautiful, aren’t they?” Comes a familiar voice, and your heart stops. You stand shakily, turning around to see your husband standing at the entrance to the gardens. He hadn’t even changed from his uniform, his medals decorating his breast and glinting in the sunlight. His hair was mussed and tousled from the wind, and running his hand through it. You swear you could see soot from gunfire staining his cheek. He looks tired as if he had come from the docks directly here.
He likely had.
You set the papers down inside the box of letters you had been carrying with you, all the while looking at Albert. He sets down his hat and opens his arms, and the floodgates burst open.
You crash into your husband and knock him to the ground in a bear hug. Your arms go around his neck, and you’re kissing him desperately. He cradles your cheeks, and you can almost taste the tears streaking someone’s cheeks. Whether they’re his or yours, you can’t tell.
But that doesn’t matter.
Seven months, three weeks, and seventeen days later, he was finally home.
