Super excited to finally be able to share this with you all! The 2023 Afrika burn poster! I had so much fun creating this - partly because I knew I could push colours and play around a bit! The process behind this artwork was quite something- it is actually an etched brass plate, which I patinated, sanded, processed and I then had digitally scanned and then worked on the digital image thereafter. The theme for the 2023 burn 🔥 is space 🌙 💫 🌚 - and considering that a lot of my etched works have a cosmic fee to then already I couldn’t wait to get stuck in! Working with the theme of SPACE, i played with the idea of an alchemical interweaving of the very substance that is at the heart of the earth or, more mystically, of the cosmos. this scene appears to emerge out of a kind of interaction of the basic chemistry that defines matter ... We recorded this episode before leaving for this passage and we talk about how going to AfrikaBurn prepared us for sailing, cruising life , and crossing an ocean. Artist # 1: Daniel Popper: a 3D sculpture artists from Cape Town, South Africa.

- He creates large scale sculptures that are people who seem to be in a very earthy and naturalistic form

- Popper’s art has been showcased at top festivals : Electric Forest festival in the USA, Boom Festival in Portugal, and Afrikaburn in South Africa

- “UMI” is a maternal figure representing motherhood, while “Heartwood” depicts a woman’s face split into two, symbolizing the interconnectedness of humans and trees .

Artist #2: Chiharu Shiota: Japanese performance and installation artist from Osaka, Japan, but is currently based in Berlin

- Shiota’s inspiration is from personal experiences or emotion which she expands into universal human concerns such as life, death, and relationships

- She collects ordinary objects such as shoes, keys, beds, chairs, and dresses to redefine the concept of memory and consciousness

- For example, in her piece, "Me, Somewhere Else", she uses red yarn and a plaster cast of the her own feet to address the idea of consciousness as separate from the body.

Ed Noodle :

Deep grooves, bass and percussion blended in a tribal mix, that’s what gets Ed Noodle going. From downtempo sets at sunset or sunrise, to uplifting organic blends taking you into the night: in any case the goal will be to keep you dancing with prehistoric power.

Ed is at his best when he takes the time to tell a story, relying on the right tracks and buildup for that exact place and moment in time. A craft he honed at AfrikaBurn and Midburn, which fit his sound and energetic presentation like a glove. To top this all off, the experience of playing on the playa catapulted him to a next level. With more and more gigs coming his way, and setting the first steps into producing as well.

Besides being a DJ and producer Ed is also co-founder of Wolvenroedel, a movement he started with YOИDI to get people dancing.

Israel

The Midburn event is the official regional event organized by the Midburn community – the Israeli Burning Man community. For six days, a temporary city is set up in the Negev desert, creating a platform which will allow a communal lifestyle, creativity, art and radical self-expression. It is held yearly since 2014, in May or June, around the Jewish holiday of "Shavuot." The third Midburn event, in 2016, had an attendance of 8,000 participants. In 2017, more than 10,000 people attended, making it the 2nd biggest regional event outside the US, after AfrikaBurn.

Contraburn is an event organized by the Midburn community that takes place every year on the weekend of the Burning Man event. In 2019, 2,000 participants are expected.

Burnerot (translates "Candles Burn") is a weekend event organized by the Midburn community that takes place every year at the end of December, close to Hanukkah. In 2018 it had an attendance of 2,000 participants.

can we talk about the incredible pun game going on here? “midburn” is ABSOLUTELY a play on the word “midbar” (wilderness, particularly evocative of the desert). and “burnerot” plays on “nerot” (pron. nay-rote) which means candles, and its proximity to חנוכה (famously the holiday involving a fuck ton of candles) is quite clearly where the inspiration is taken from

I think if there was a burning man within a days drive of the major east coast cities there would be peace and love in planet earth.

ELEMENTRIC - MIND 

Today I speak about my twin flame journey with this beautiful soul I met at the Burn in South Afrika. I’m so thankful that I had the opportunity to meet him and fall in love with him. We shared a beautiful time together and I loved and love him still greatly. As I’m more than sure that my love for him will never leave but this time it is the purest love I ever felt. 

The universe had its plan and I separated from him, as the entire relationship and the entire journey was so taff on me and him. He tried to keep me happy and build up everything on lies in order to comfort me but all the trust is gone. So the moment I figured out, I left him. 

No, he did not cheat on me, so far what I believe, but I can ensure you once your partner cheats on you despite how far you will feel it. You should always trust your intuition. Anyway, it came to the point where I became very sick of the connection and had to break it off. So I moved on from him beautifully, and I hope he moved on too. 

Still we will share the same purpose in life, still, we will share a connection so deep it can’t be found twice. But overall as much I love him, I decided to leave him and let him pursue his life and so I pursue mine. Apart, I took the decision to work on myself and heal. Therefore, I just pray for him that he took the same step and I hope every time I cross his thoughts he shares a smile. 

Might you are questioning now, why do I left when this love been so deep, but I couldn’t cope with it anymore mentally and decided to attract my soulmate into my life in order to get the fairytale pink glitter farting unicorn love, I prefer. It is not selfish neither it is wrong. So I attracted this beautiful soulmate connection into reality and my boyfriend knows clearly about my twin flame journey and he knows that I will love my Twin Flame forever and there is nothing that can change it. But the love I still have left for my Twin is nothing like a romantic feeling it is a feeling of wanting that person to be safe and happy, a love which has nothing to do with desire. A love that is so pure is so unconditionally so clean. 

Love yourself greater than anything else you loved before.
