Hi! I’m so glad you’re back :) I need your help for this.
I have an opening ceremony at the end of this month, it is an internship course but the president and government authorities are attending. I’ve never participated in something like this so I have no idea of what to wear, makeup no makeup, heels or not. It’s during the morning n in a tremendous hot weather. Could you recommend me something? Or an keyword to better ideas on Pinterest. Thanks in advance
Modesty and being conservative during an event like this will be the best decision.
light make up that doesn’t change your features but enhances it. I’d say a small winged eyeliner, mascara, powder products (blush, foundation) to prevent sweat - waterproof make up will be your best friend in case it’s too hot. Pick a lip colour that’s not going to smudge easily and is a perfect nude-ish pink for you.
hair up would probably be ideal because of the heat. Don’t do anything messy - if it’s a bun, a French bun could look nice. Or, you could search “classic hairstyle” on Pinterest.
outfits - definitely nothing two fingers above the knee, a lovely dress / blouse and a skirt would be feminine and elegant at the same time, heels not more than 3 inches. Colour wise, I’d recommend neutrals - go for a slate grey/ navy blue/ off white/ beige.
events like this I prefer being more feminine because they are generally more male dominated and it helps me stand out even if my outfit is simple.
simple jewellery like a tennis bracelet and solitaires would be enough.
carry a purse - blotting sheets for your skin in case you get too greasy, lip gloss/ lipstick, perfume, a notepad and pen, a protein bar and wet wipes.
make sure you eat a proper, filling breakfast before the event. Ensure that you’re at the venue 15 minutes before required. Do your research on the people coming, attempt to speak to them as many as possible and get their business cards. If you can print out your business cards with a QR of your LinkedIn- do it. At the end of the day, if possible, send them a thank you email. Prep beforehand about yourself - prepare a short 15-20 second introduction, learn it by heart so that you can potentially avoid a socially awkward moment.

In 2024, I will walk into a physical space—a restaurant, a hairdresser, an arts venue, an artisanal cheese shop—and instead of being handed a physical piece of paper with some useful information on it, or being told it in words, I will be shown a faded roundel with a QR code on it. I will hold my phone’s camera up to it wearily. Sometimes it will work, but the font on the menu or the information will be small. I’ll have to enlarge it and take my glasses off to read it, because I’ve reached that age. Sometimes it won’t work at all. Sometimes the information on it will be out of date.
In all cases, many people—some elderly, others with access needs, children, anyone who just doesn’t fancy constantly looking at their phone—will be pushed toward more useless screen time and away from the kind of brief, friendly interactions with other humans that help us all feel part of the fabric of life. We’ll have reached the point of overdigitization.
It's not that there aren’t more gains to be made in technology. Incredible things are happening in biotech, especially since the pandemic. The world of continuous glucose monitors and lateral flow tests (LFT) will keep growing. In 2024 we will see new kinds of LFTs that test for other infections and problems. We will see more useful work in truly personalized medicine. But in the UK, at least, the benefit of those innovations will be increasingly available only for those who can pay for it themselves. The division between the technological haves and have-nots will only continue to grow.
And although technology will continue to flourish, my guess is that the truly big gains in digital communication have now been made for a generation. If there’s innovation to come in digital communication it will be in the field of overdigitization, using screens where paper and actual words from real people both work better. We could—and should—use this next decade to shore up the gains we’ve made for all members of society. But I predict that, in 2024, we won’t. The Good Things Foundation estimates that 10 million people in the UK lack the basic digital skills needed to access the modern world. And 6.9 million people will continue to be excluded if they’re not given proactive help. But the current British government doesn’t seem much interested in raising the floor for the worst off.
These things can’t be done by individual companies, which come up with good-sounding ideas like, “why don’t we let people order a coffee while they’re getting their hair done, using a QR code!” It’s exactly the kind of things that incorrigibly urban WIRED readers like me think would be fun to use—but companies don’t tend to think about how to help people who aren’t going to spend money with them, or who are too put off by over-exuberant digital-everywhere to actually go into the shop.
Companies can look after their employees. And they can work to overcome that other half of the overdigitization problem: that many jobs are becoming more boring and isolated because they involve the equivalents of more pointing-at-QR-code-roundels and less actual interaction with people. But while companies can think about employees and about good customer service, thinking about improving equality and fairness is the job of government, not businesses.
There is of course one thing I can predict with total certainty for the UK in 2024: That the British public will get to have their own say on digital inequality and a whole host of other issues. Because, in 2024, Parliament will be dissolved in advance of an election.

the month ive been at this university has really made me confront the fact that it really is the people who are the most bourgeoisie who hate the bourgeoisie the most. like foucault is the archetype for this but reading kropotkin's speech at his trial in 1883 and then seeing his father was a royal officer who owned serfs in multiple provinces, descended from a grand princess, his mother was the daughter of an extremely prominent general and descendant of multiple noble families. and then u try to get to your bus stop and the guy with a vivienne westwood necklace and designer sweater from the revolutionary communist party is trying to get u to scan a qr code from his iphone 15 or whichever it is now to donate For The Cause. i never really fully understood why it's the raised catholic, wealthy, etc. people who hate the catholic, wealthy, etc. people so much but i suppose it is some mentality where you were raised so well behaved and privileged that it's the first instinct to rebel against it. and obviously like if you're recognising you come from an incredibly wealthy background and are using said wealth and said circumstances to advance your cause whatever it may be then have at it obviously but so many of these types (foucault ..... side eye....) try their best to hide it and never mention it
#also i really never realised how “poor” these people could consider me until i said i felt sick about spending 25 eur this month already on#eating out but the sudden weather change has made me very prone to getting a quiche on my way from school when it's dark and cold#and my italian friend said oh wtf that's nothing and showed me she spent TWO THOUSAND euros last month#like hey now. maybe i will let you buy me this coffee...#my other eastern european friend as well he bought a new jacket bc it got cold and i was like you cant just borrow one from your family?#nope. he came down with a new levi's fur-lined denim jacket. like alright#side note anyhow they;ve got to stop counting the iphones eventually and get more creative. like iphone 23 doesn't sound good. none of them#do except iphone 5 .

I was recently asked to do a panel event at a library in a neighboring county. The organizer said I could sell my books there, but when I inquired further she meant that literally, as they can't partner with any bookstores. I explained that as a trad pubbed author, selling my own books isn't something I can really do (at least not without a lot of weird financial/tax repercussions) and she said I could have people scan a QR code leading to my publisher's site to purchase and just provide them with book plates. I'm torn whether to do this event or not. On one hand, I'm sure it will be very fun, I do love supporting libraries, and I don't want to seem like a diva. On the other, I know that my time and energy are worth money, and I'd basically be doing this for free since I doubt I'll sell much via QR code. I am far enough into my career and successful enough that I'm not really interested in doing things just for the exposure. What would you recommend in this situation?
(ETA: sorry in advance, this came out lengthy, scroll to the bottom for my succinct answer if that's all you care about, OP!)
I think you have a good head on your shoulders, and it's smart to value your own time and energy. Yes, you should be paid for school visits and talks and that kind of thing, especially any that require travel, etc, UNLESS they are being sponsored by the publisher, like as part of an organized tour, and there will definitely be book sales, in which case, hey, you aren't going out of pocket and those can be QUITE good for sales.
But it is also a fact that sometimes, you will end up doing things for free, without remuneration and without a guarantee of huge sales, for any number of reasons: for charity, because you believe in the mission of whatever-it-is, for marketing/publicity purposes, or even just because it will be fun!
So you need to just do your own cost-benefit analysis. They'll do the QR code, which is nice, but you aren't guaranteed any sales, so let's say this event will definitely make you zero dollars. OK -- What are the Good Points vs Pain (in the Ass) Points?
For good points: Will it generate goodwill amongst your community or with people whose opinions you value? Is it for a charity or cause you believe in? Will there be potentially decision-makers there -- like librarians or teachers who might love your presentation and want to PAY you to participate in something later? Will it be FUN? Will there be other authors there that you want to meet / network with / hang out with / become besties with? How big a reach will this potentially have? (In other words - are we talking 5 people, or 500 people? Is it an event that might be covered by media? Because while you don't want to do things "just for exposure" when that exposure is dubious -- some great exposure wouldn't hurt!)
For PITA points: How much time will it take out of your life? (Include preparing for it, traveling to it, attending it, getting home, and decompressing from it)? Would it be costing you anything money-wise (gas money counts!)? Would it potentially take a toll on your health (mental health counts!)? Would you have to give up anything that would be MORE important to you in order to do it? (writing time, family obligations, time with your pets?) ETC.
The answers to these will be different from one situation to another, or even from person to person (after all, one person's "fun schmooze" thing is another person's "terrible chore"!) -- so weigh these options FOR YOU and see what you come up with.
Long story short:
It's good practice to say YES to anything that you can comfortably do to promote your book if you are getting paid for it or if the upsides outweigh the downsides.
But it's also healthy to have boundaries, and to say NO when that is not the case.
If you are going to say NO (again, a perfectly valid answer!), do so as early as possible, be extremely nice, and just say you are so sorry, you can't make it work, and best of luck with the event. DON'T frame it as "I only do PAID events" or anything like that -- that WILL make you sound like a diva from hell, even if that isn't the case! DON'T agree to it and then back out, because then you are putting them in the position of not having an event at all or having to scramble, ruining the thing they have spent time promoting, yadda yadda.
So in this case: If you haven't agreed to the event, and you decide the PITA points outweigh the good points, it's fine to decline. If you've already agreed to the event and it's happening soon, just suck it up and do it, lesson learned for next time.

Crypto trading mobile app
Designing a Crypto Trading Mobile App involves a balance of usability, security, and aesthetic appeal, tailored to meet the needs of a fast-paced, data-driven audience. Below is an overview of key components and considerations to craft a seamless and user-centric experience for crypto traders.
Key Elements of a Crypto Trading Mobile App Design
1. Intuitive Onboarding
First Impressions: The onboarding process should be simple, guiding users smoothly from downloading the app to making their first trade.
Account Creation: Offer multiple sign-up options (email, phone number, Google/Apple login) and include KYC (Know Your Customer) verification seamlessly.
Interactive Tutorials: For new traders, provide interactive walkthroughs to explain key features like trading pairs, order placement, and wallet setup.
2. Dashboard & Home Screen
Clean Layout: Display an overview of the user's portfolio, including current balances, market trends, and quick access to popular trading pairs.
Market Overview: Real-time market data should be clearly visible. Include options for users to view coin performance, historical charts, and news snippets.
Customization: Let users customize their dashboard by adding favorite assets or widgets like price alerts, trading volumes, and news feeds.
3. Trading Interface
Simple vs. Advanced Modes: Provide two versions of the trading interface. A simple mode for beginners with basic buy/sell options, and an advanced mode with tools like limit orders, stop losses, and technical indicators.
Charting Tools: Integrate interactive, real-time charts powered by TradingView or similar APIs, allowing users to analyze market movements with tools like candlestick patterns, RSI, and moving averages.
Order Placement: Streamline the process of placing market, limit, and stop orders. Use clear buttons and a concise form layout to minimize errors.
Real-Time Data: Update market prices, balances, and order statuses in real-time. Include a status bar that shows successful or pending trades.
4. Wallet & Portfolio Management
Asset Overview: Provide an easy-to-read portfolio page where users can view all their holdings, including balances, performance (gains/losses), and allocation percentages.
Multi-Currency Support: Display a comprehensive list of supported cryptocurrencies. Enable users to transfer between wallets, send/receive assets, and generate QR codes for transactions.
Transaction History: Offer a detailed transaction history, including dates, amounts, and transaction IDs for transparency and record-keeping.
5. Security Features
Biometric Authentication: Use fingerprint, facial recognition, or PIN codes for secure logins and transaction confirmations.
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): Strong security protocols like 2FA with Google Authenticator or SMS verification should be mandatory for withdrawals and sensitive actions.
Push Notifications for Security Alerts: Keep users informed about logins from new devices, suspicious activities, or price movements via push notifications.
6. User-Friendly Navigation
Bottom Navigation Bar: Include key sections like Home, Markets, Wallet, Trade, and Settings. The icons should be simple, recognizable, and easily accessible with one hand.
Search Bar: A prominent search feature to quickly locate specific coins, trading pairs, or help topics.
7. Analytics & Insights
Market Trends: Display comprehensive analytics including top gainers, losers, and market sentiment indicators.
Push Alerts for Price Movements: Offer customizable price alert notifications to help users react quickly to market changes.
Educational Content: Include sections with tips on technical analysis, crypto market basics, or new coin listings.
8. Social and Community Features
Live Chat: Provide a feature for users to chat with customer support or engage with other traders in a community setting.
News Feed: Integrate crypto news from trusted sources to keep users updated with the latest market-moving events.
9. Light and Dark Mode
Themes: Offer both light and dark mode to cater to users who trade at different times of day. The dark mode is especially important for night traders to reduce eye strain.
10. Settings and Customization
Personalization Options: Allow users to choose preferred currencies, set trading limits, and configure alerts based on their personal preferences.
Language and Regional Settings: Provide multilingual support and regional settings for global users.
Visual Design Considerations
Modern, Minimalist Design: A clean, minimal UI is essential for avoiding clutter, especially when dealing with complex data like market trends and charts.
Color Scheme: Use a professional color palette with accents for call-to-action buttons. Green and red are typically used for indicating gains and losses, respectively.
Animations & Micro-interactions: Subtle animations can enhance the experience by providing feedback on button presses or transitions between screens. However, keep these minimal to avoid slowing down performance.
Conclusion
Designing a crypto trading mobile app requires focusing on accessibility, performance, and security. By blending these elements with a modern, intuitive interface and robust features, your app can empower users to navigate the fast-paced world of crypto trading with confidence and ease.

THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO WATCHING MILGRAM (as of the end of the 2nd trial)
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3
Second trial
Official song playlist
2nd trial opening video Notes: Translation analysis
All-Knowing and All-Agony (Instrumental) Notes: Translation analysis (Some corrections: I believe that "I'll turn it around" should be "I have to make you turn around again" and "I'd rather give by taking", "It's better to receive by stealing")
Something interesting about the lyrics is that they contain relatively more kanji than Weakness, which makes the text look less childish, but it's not more advanced kanji. Of the kanji that Haruka uses, the one taught the latest is 降, from Weakness' "I was falling" line. This doesn't take into account the kanji in his own name, as that is generally one of the first things children learn to write regardless of the kanji used. Metamorphosis of the Weak (Text)
Tear Drop (Instrumental) Absolute Zero (Text)
Backdraft (Instrumental) Notes: All the cans read "pressure" in Milgram runes. The QR codes takes you to the voting page. Translation analysis. Baptism of Fire (EN) / Burning in the Welcoming Fire (JP) (Text) Notes: The English title is a reference to the idiom baptism of fire, while the Japanese title references Obon. There's a translation mistake at 2:01, it should say "This is what happens when you get stepped on with those safety boot-like shoes."
It's Not My Fault (Instrumental) Notes: Translation analysis. (Another way to translate the "relieved" line would be to take "shou ga nai" as something like "inevitable" and link it with the previous sentence, resulting in "I was relieved. It's just natural, right?"/"it can be helped that I was relieved, you know?")
Triage (Instrumental) Notes: The names on the cremation niches, color-coded by gender. Translation analysis. Aesculapius (Text) Notes: At 9:14, it should say "selfish" instead of "scientific."
I Love You (Instrumental) Love is [Un]Dead (Text)
Cat (Instrumental) Imposter Boulevard (EN) / Tracks of Deception (JP) (Text) Notes: The word "tracks" in the title is intended to be pronounced the same as "hope."
The Purge March (Instrumental) Notes: Translation analysis. There are several texts onscreen at 1:30: -Translation for the paper at the bottom with a photo -Text with big bold writting at the top: "Accept hardship. Accept trials. God watches over those who overcome them with strength." (Transcription sourced from these comments) -Torn paper. According to Hioki_MG, the long text is likely taken from this medical notice in Nagasaki Hospital. -Colorful pamphlet with mascots: The text is too covered up for full sentences, but the word written in the mascot's colors near the bottom is "happiness" Of blessedness and punishment (EN) / Of Happiness and Revenge and (JP) (Text) Notes: Like with Amane's first trial voice drama, the two words used are pronounced very similarly. The title is read as "Koufuku to Houfuku to"
Double (Instrumental) Notes: Onscreen text translation Neoplasm (Text)
Deep Cover (Instrumental) Notes: Onscreen text translation YONAH (Text)
2nd trial closing video Notes: Jackalope actually uses "dual personality disorder" in 6:21 instead of "multiple personality disorder" like he did on the 2nd trial opening video. Yamanaka said that the last, untranslated line doesn't contain the word "psychopath"
Portal (website version)
The project's official app. It also has a browser version. The first time you go in it'll show a big red screen with a red bar and white text below it; it's asking you whether to log-in or access as a guest. Click the white text. It'll bring up a box asking for your residence, birthday and gender. You don't have to fill them out, simply click the "I accept the term of services" square button at the bottom left and click the bar at the bottom.
Interrogations These are fan-submitted questions to each pair of characters to be answered during their trial periods. The groups are divided by prisoner number, so for example Haruka (prisoner 1) and Yuno (prisoner 2) share a set of questions. The exceptions are Mikoto and Kotoko, who due to productions delays didn't have overlapping judgements in the first two trials. The most complete list is this one which includes both trials but is missing Kotoko and Mikoto's second set. That can be found here in video form, translation courtesy of the Milgram Eng group and edited by ac. It's also in text form in Eng's twitter account. ac's channel also includes translations of the first trial interrogations done by the now-defunct Milgram Fancult group. They can be found in the wiki's interrogation pages as well, in the following format: https://milgram.fandom.com/wiki/Kirisaki_Shidou/Interrogation Lastly, milgrammer also translated some of the early first trial interrogations, up to the Mahiru-Shidou pair.
Timeline The app's timeline shows the last four posts for free, and requires a subscription for the full feed. There are two types of post: in-universe conversations, and comments about a new song from Deco*27 and either Rockwell or Teddyloid. For organizational purposes, the latter can be found in the Interviews and Commentary section. While the conversation are mostly for fluff/character exploration purposes, they do reference specifc events in the series, especially as time goes on. I would suggest to read everything up to Muu's 2022 birthday (July 5) after watching the first trial, then everything else after the second trial. A more authentic but also more complicated order would be to keep track of song release and interrogation dates and read them along with the songs and dramas. For that, I recommend this timeline of important events , as well as this chart of character's birthdays.
In terms of translations, the wiki gathers translations from a variety of sources, mainly rochisama , Maristelina, Tiramisu and Milgram Fancult (though many of the latter's translations were removed around September 2022, they can still be viewed in the page history). As of the time of posting, Rochisama's archive is the most complete translation archive, missing only the Mikoto's 2024 birthday convo (translated here by me), but they do sometimes fall behind on new releases, so feel free to check other sources as well.
Illustrations and Previews For subscribers, the app also offers art made by the staff and extra key animation frames a few days prior to the release of a new song (a few are released to all though the Twitter account), as can be seen in the Contents -> Report-> Advance tabs. Lastly, the day before a song's release, paid members can watch the first minute of it though the app. The song previews can be found here and the illustrations can be viewed here
Novels and Manga There are currently two novels: The Experimental Prison and the Maiden Jailer and Righteous and Justifiable Murder, with the latter being a direct sequel to the former. They're not necessary to understand the plot of the main project, but they share the same setting and may provide hints for future developments.
The Experimental Prison and the Maiden Jailer It has a finished novel and an ongoing manga adaptation. The manga adaptation can be viewed in Japanese here, and a fan translation is available here . There's also a chapter-by-chapter summary based on a machine translation of the original novel.
Righteous and Justifiable Murder Only available in novel form. You can read a preview of the first 56 pages here, and a summary of the full novel here.
A complete, human-made translation of both novels is available for those who can provide proof of purchase to Pai the Plushie. Those who preordered the manga or novel also received one of two short stories from the perspective of the main project's Jackalope, Top Secret Experiment Report side W or side S. Side W has spoilers for the main Milgram's second trial, and both reference events from the first and second novels. The translator for the extras requested that I don't link to them directly, but I can say that they can be found on Tumblr.
Minigram A comedy 4koma that's unrelated to the previous two works. It's uploaded on Twitter and Youtube's community tab, with the latter having official translations in the comments. Some fans have edited the official translations directly onto the panels. Merak's Twitter thread is almost complete, missing only the first chapter and the 61st one.

Researchers use liquid crystals that mimic beetle shell coloration units to create a more secure type of QR code
A research group led by Dr. Jialei He of Nagoya University's Graduate School of Engineering has developed a method for processing cholesteric liquid crystals (CLCs) into micrometer-sized spherical particles. CLCs are a type of liquid crystal that possess a helical structure, giving them unique optical properties and the ability to selectively reflect light. By combining spherical CLC particles with commercially available pigments, the researchers developed a unique anti-counterfeiting QR code that can only be displayed under a specific circular polarizer. The results were published in the journal Advanced Optical Materials. CLCs are an example of how nature can be used in engineering. If you have ever noticed the iridescent wings of butterflies or the glossy coating on the exoskeletons of beetles, you have seen what CLCs can do. Once identified, CLCs that mimic the units that generate the colors of the exoskeletons of beetles are synthesized in the laboratory because of their unusual colors and properties, which lie between liquids and crystals.

This is for sustained VTach:
Sustained monomorphic ventricular tachycardia (SMVT) is defined as a regular, wide (≥120 milliseconds) QRS complex tachycardia with uniform and stable QRS morphology at a rate of more than 100 beats per minute that lasts for 30 seconds or longer or causes hemodynamic collapse within 30 seconds.
â—ŹAll patients with SMVT should have a brief immediate assessment of the symptoms, vital signs, and level of consciousness to determine if they are hemodynamically stable or unstable. Differentiation between a hemodynamically unstable versus stable patient depends upon hemodynamic compromise, such as hypotension, altered mental status, chest pain, or heart failure (HF).
â—ŹPatients with SMVT who are hemodynamically unstable and pulseless, or who become pulseless during the course of evaluation and treatment, should be managed according to standard advance cardiac life support (ACLS) resuscitation algorithms, with immediate high-energy countershock and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Patients should initially be treated with a synchronized 120 to 200 joule shock from a biphasic defibrillator or a 360 joule shock from a monophasic defibrillator.
â—ŹFor patients with wide complex tachycardia (WCT) who are hemodynamically unstable, but still responsive with a discernible blood pressure and pulse, we recommend urgent cardioversion (following administration of sedation) (Grade 1B).
â—ŹFor patients with SMVT who are hemodynamically stable on presentation, after recording a 12-lead ECG we generally prefer to begin with an intravenous antiarrhythmic agent and reserve electrical cardioversion for refractory patients or for those who become unstable.
•If pharmacologic cardioversion is the chosen approach, we administer intravenous amiodarone, procainamide, or lidocaine.
•If electrical cardioversion with appropriate procedural sedation is the chosen approach, intravenous analgesics or sedatives should be cautiously administered if the blood pressure will tolerate their use. If the QRS complex and T wave can be distinguished, an attempt at synchronized cardioversion can be performed with a synchronized shock of 100 joules using either a biphasic or monophasic defibrillator.
â—ŹTreatment of underlying conditions associated with VT, such as myocardial ischemia, electrolyte disturbances, drug proarrhythmia, and HF, as well as decreasing the sympathetic facilitation of SMVT, are important components of the acute management of VT.
â—ŹChronic therapy of patients with SMVT usually requires utilization of multiple therapeutic modalities, including the implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD), antiarrhythmic drugs, radiofrequency catheter ablation, and/or arrhythmia surgery.
•In the absence of a clearly identifiable and reversible cause for SMVT, nearly all patients with a history of SMVT will be candidates for ICD insertion for secondary prevention of sudden cardiac death, unless the patient refuses or the risks of ICD insertion are felt to outweigh the potential benefits. (See 'ICD therapy' above.) •Nearly all patients who experience SMVT have an indication for therapy with a beta blocker, including patients with a prior myocardial infarction, patients with HF and reduced LV systolic function, etc. Beta blockers provide some level of protection against recurrent SMVT, primarily by reducing myocardial oxygen demand and blocking sympathetic input to the heart. (See 'Beta blockers' above.) •Antiarrhythmic drugs may also be used to improve quality of life in patients with frequent SMVT leading to ICD shocks, or in those patients who are not candidates for, or who decline, ICD implantation. Amiodarone has generally been the most effective antiarrhythmic drug for preventing ventricular arrhythmias (and associated ICD shocks). (See 'Antiarrhythmic drugs' above.) •For patients with recurrent SMVT resulting in ICD shocks despite treatment with an antiarrhythmic drug, we suggest radiofrequency ablation (RFA) rather than the addition of a second antiarrhythmic agent (Grade 2C). RFA is also an alternative to antiarrhythmic drugs as the initial therapy for SMVT. In addition, RFA, with or without antiarrhythmic drug therapy, is an option for patients with SMVT who are not candidates for or who refuse ICD implantation. (See 'Radiofrequency catheter ablation' above.)

The Limitations of Traditional Methods: Why Paper Coupons are Falling Short
For years, the event industry has relied on paper coupons and manual processes to manage admissions. While these methods may have sufficed in the past, they struggle to keep pace with the demands of modern venues. Let's explore the pitfalls of traditional approaches:
Security Risks: Paper coupons are highly susceptible to counterfeiting and duplication, leading to unauthorized entry and revenue loss. Tracking paper coupons manually is time-consuming and error-prone, making it difficult to maintain accurate records.

Unlocking Efficiency and Security with Asset Tracking Systems
In today’s fast-paced business landscape, managing assets efficiently is a priority across industries, from healthcare to logistics. Gone are the days when asset tracking was about simple spreadsheets and manual logs; now, asset tracking systems leverage cutting-edge technology to provide real-time insights, reduce losses, and streamline operations. This blog will explore the essentials of asset tracking systems, the technology that drives them, and the benefits they bring to modern businesses.
What is an Asset Tracking System?
An asset tracking system is a solution that uses technology to monitor the location, status, and utilization of valuable company resources. Whether it’s company vehicles, expensive equipment, or critical inventory, asset tracking systems keep businesses informed, connected, and in control.
By implementing an asset tracking system, businesses can monitor their assets from acquisition to disposal, enabling them to optimize usage, ensure security, and boost productivity.
The Key Technologies Behind Asset Tracking
Asset tracking systems are supported by various advanced technologies that allow precise tracking, automation, and data collection. Here’s a closer look at the tools that make asset tracking possible:
1. GPS (Global Positioning System)
GPS is a widely used technology in asset tracking, especially for mobile assets like fleet vehicles. It provides accurate, real-time location data, which is crucial for businesses with moving assets. With GPS, companies can track delivery trucks, machinery on job sites, or equipment in transit, improving logistical planning and asset security.
2. RFID (Radio Frequency Identification)
RFID tags are small devices that store asset information and communicate it wirelessly. RFID is particularly effective in environments like warehouses, where it can track inventory levels automatically, providing real-time data on stock and asset locations without manual scanning.
3. QR Codes and Barcodes
QR codes and barcodes are low-cost tracking solutions suitable for items that do not require constant tracking. With a quick scan, employees can update an asset’s status or location, making these codes ideal for smaller inventory or equipment in fixed locations.
4. IoT Sensors (Internet of Things)
IoT sensors enable companies to monitor a range of data, such as temperature, humidity, and motion, providing insights into how and where assets are used. These sensors are invaluable in industries with strict conditions, such as food storage, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing, where tracking environmental factors is essential.
5. BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy)
BLE technology is perfect for indoor asset tracking, offering a low-energy solution to monitor items in spaces like office buildings, hospitals, or warehouses. BLE beacons communicate with mobile devices, allowing accurate, room-specific tracking.
How Asset Tracking Systems Work
Asset tracking systems work by gathering data from tagged assets, sending it through a central network, and displaying it on a dashboard where companies can monitor, analyze, and act on this information. Here’s a step-by-step look at how these systems operate:
Asset Tagging Assets are tagged with a device—like an RFID tag, GPS tracker, or barcode—that transmits location or status data.
Data Collection and Transmission Data from tagged assets is transmitted to the central database through wireless networks, enabling real-time or scheduled updates.
Centralized Monitoring The data is displayed on a dashboard where managers can view asset locations, set alerts for unauthorized movement, and monitor usage patterns.
Analysis and Reporting Most systems include analytical tools that generate reports, helping managers make informed decisions on maintenance, usage, and future investments.
The Benefits of Asset Tracking Systems
Implementing an asset tracking system can have transformative effects across a business’s operations. Here are some of the primary benefits:
1. Real-Time Asset Visibility
With an asset tracking system, businesses can monitor asset locations and conditions continuously. For industries like logistics, this real-time visibility enables better route optimization and quicker adjustments in response to changes.
2. Loss Prevention and Security
Asset tracking systems can significantly reduce asset loss due to theft or misplacement. Alerts can be set up to trigger notifications when an asset leaves a specified area, allowing immediate response and reducing losses.
3. Increased Productivity and Efficiency
Tracking systems reduce the time employees spend searching for equipment, boosting productivity. When assets are easy to locate and always available, employees can focus on tasks that add value.
4. Data-Driven Decision-Making
The insights gathered from tracking systems empower businesses to make strategic decisions, such as retiring underutilized equipment, planning new purchases, and optimizing resource allocation based on data-driven evidence.
5. Enhanced Maintenance Management
By tracking asset usage, companies can schedule maintenance at optimal times, extending asset life and preventing unexpected downtime. Proactive maintenance also improves asset reliability and reduces costly repairs.
6. Simplified Compliance and Reporting
In regulated industries like healthcare or manufacturing, asset tracking systems automate record-keeping, helping companies adhere to regulatory standards and prepare for audits.
Use Cases: How Asset Tracking Transforms Industries
1. Healthcare
In healthcare, asset tracking systems are essential for managing medical equipment, reducing downtime, and ensuring life-saving devices are always accessible. Hospitals also track environmental conditions for temperature-sensitive assets, like blood and medications, ensuring compliance and patient safety.
2. Logistics and Transportation
For logistics companies, tracking systems improve fleet management by providing real-time locations and travel histories for each vehicle. This data helps optimize delivery routes, reduce fuel costs, and improve service reliability.
3. Construction
On construction sites, asset tracking helps project managers monitor equipment usage across multiple locations, reducing time lost to equipment transfers and theft. Tracking tools and machinery also ensures they are maintained regularly, reducing downtime and safety risks.
4. Retail
Retailers use asset tracking systems for efficient inventory management, preventing stockouts or overstocking. RFID technology, for example, can quickly scan an entire store’s inventory, saving time and ensuring accurate stock levels.
5. Education
In educational institutions, asset tracking is used for managing resources like laptops, tablets, and lab equipment. Knowing the location and usage history of each item reduces losses, improves resource sharing, and enables schools to maintain adequate stock levels.
Implementing an Asset Tracking System: Key Steps
To make the most of an asset tracking system, companies should approach implementation methodically. Here are steps to success:
Define Your Objectives Identify what you need from an asset tracking system. Are you looking to improve inventory control, manage fleets, or prevent asset loss? Clear goals will shape your choice of technology and features.
Select the Right Tracking Technology Choose technology that suits your assets and business needs. For example, RFID may be ideal for warehousing, while GPS is better for mobile fleets.
Train Employees Employees need to understand how to use the tracking system. Training ensures they can enter data correctly, use the system efficiently, and understand its benefits.
Set Up Alerts and Notifications Use alerts to automate notifications for maintenance needs, unauthorized movement, or environmental changes. Alerts help businesses act quickly and prevent issues before they escalate.
Integrate with Existing Systems To maximize efficiency, integrate your asset tracking system with ERP, inventory management, or other business software. This reduces redundancy and improves data accessibility.
The Future of Asset Tracking: Key Trends to Watch
1. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning
AI algorithms are enhancing asset tracking systems by analyzing usage patterns and predicting maintenance needs. Machine learning can also forecast demand, helping companies prepare for seasonal changes or shifts in resource usage.
2. 5G and IoT Expansion
The rollout of 5G will make IoT-powered asset tracking faster and more efficient, allowing businesses to monitor assets in real time even in remote areas. This connectivity boost will drive innovation in asset monitoring and remote management.
3. Blockchain for Enhanced Security
Blockchain technology provides a secure, immutable record of asset transactions and histories. This is valuable in industries requiring a high level of compliance and accountability, such as pharmaceuticals and finance.
4. AR and VR Integration
Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) are making waves in asset management. AR overlays can help employees find assets quickly within large facilities, while VR can be used for remote maintenance and training, creating new efficiencies.
Conclusion: Asset Tracking for a Smarter Business
Asset tracking systems have become indispensable tools for companies looking to streamline operations, improve security, and make informed decisions. The benefits of real-time tracking, proactive maintenance, and enhanced data visibility offer a competitive edge in today’s data-driven world.
Whether in healthcare, logistics, retail, or any industry where assets play a vital role, asset tracking is an investment that pays off in productivity, savings, and strategic agility. As technology advances, asset tracking will only become more powerful, helping businesses not just keep up, but lead in efficiency and innovation.
