A Pirate’s Life for Me

Here’s a little terrohm drabble for @lilwitchybee​ :) Enjoy!

Brian was a merciful captain, and his crew was a loyal one because of it. They would follow him to the ends of the Earth if Brian asked, would jump in front of a cannonball for the man too. They all knew Brian would do the same for any of them. So, maybe that’s what brought them all here; a lonesome little island set out in the middle of the sea, covered in pearly white sand and littered with palm trees. Captain Hanby was currently kicking off his boots and was in the process of rolling up his pants when his first mate, David, sidled up to him and began to do the same. “Ye wanna tell us what we’re doin’ in the middle of the ocean, Brine?” David asked, eyes squinting against the sun as he looked towards their captain. But he just smiled- something bright and genuine as he headed for the edge of the ship, David close behind. “I know th’best treasure lies around these parts.” The crew all watched with various degrees of fascination as Brian heaved himself up over the side of the ship- and a moment later they all heard the telltale splash that meant he had hit the water. Like lemmings with a horrible curiosity complex, they all followed suit. Evan ended up face first in the water after Tyler pushed him off- the uproarious laughter drowned out by Brian, who was far too ecstatic for anyone’s liking as he waded towards the sandy shores. It was just their ship that was anchored to the island, so murmurs and questions spread through the crew like wildfire as they followed their leader. “Ye tink he finally got scurvy and has just gone mad?” David adjusted his now soaked hat and huffed when Anthony just shrugged. “Maybe he drank seawater, who knows.” “Aw,” Brock interrupted, his effervescent smile wide on chapped lips. “Be nice, Brian’s never let us down- he said it was treasure; maybe it’s a cursed amulet-” Delirious started jumping for joy, his ecstatic grin was covered in smudged makeup where the saltwater ran down his face. “Or-or-or-or-or- gold doublooms!” “Who knows!” The two shared a smile and laughed, Delirious leaning heavily against Brock as the two giggled with one another. Evan rolled his eyes and mumbled something about lovebirds before he stopped- dead in his tracks- brown eyes trained on where Brian was currently thigh deep in the water. And everyone else stopped along with him and stared. Brian’s heart was beating a mile a minute. “Hey there, sweet’art.” Warm arms were obviously soaked, but Brian didn’t seem to mind as he held his lover impossibly closer- fingers gently raking against silver scales. The mer giggled against the touch, face tucked into the crook of Brian’s shoulder. “Hi, Brian.” Eyes as green as an emerald with lashes as dark as sin. They were swimming with adoration as they trailed over Brian’s jaw. “You’ve grown some scruff, hm Captain?” “It has been a while wit’out me little treasure t’tell me I gotta shave.” Brian nuzzled his beard against Ohm’s face in retaliation- relishing in the squeals it got from the mermaid in his arms. But the giggles tapered down into a blissful sigh, and Ohm pulled back with a bright grin filled with sharp teeth. He pressed their lips together with fervor; warm and salty and oh so beautiful as the two reunited for the first time what seemed like ages. Perhaps there was a reason that Brian was always so fond of the sea.

Ten Facts Challenge

1. I love cooking and baking! I’ll try making anything at least once, and I love sharing what I make with people.

2. I’ve been out of the country four times to four different countries (Puerto Rico, China, Belgium, and The Bahamas)

3. I’m no longer sure if I’m a morning person or a night owl as I frequently do both (but probs a morning person).

4. Rain is one of my favorite sounds and smells of all time.

5. My style/preferences/aesthetics/etc. are extremely eclectic, I’ve almost never given the same answer twice (everything is pretty and/or cool, what can I do)

6. I currently have a vocal range of 3.5 octaves

7. I’ve been a Hellenic polytheist for about five months now and a practicing witch for only slightly less time.

8. I’m a pre-nursing student

9. I have a lab coat that’s dyed wine-red

10. I have plans for getting about a dozen tattoos (and counting, probably)

Get To Know You (Witchblr Edition)

How old are you? 19

What do you go by? Juno, Juni, Juniper, June, Junebug.

How long have you been practicing witchcraft? I’ve been practicing since late January! I’ve gotten into wandcrafting and tarot in the past month or so though.

What type of witchcraft do you specialise in? None in particular, but I do have a great fondness for kitchen witchcraft and sigils.

What aspect of witchcraft are you best at? Kitchen witchcraft and sigilcrafting.

What is a big goal you are working towards/have already achieved? Incorporating casual magic into my everyday life and (eventually) getting to a place where I can have established spaces for altars :0

Who do you worship, if you worship anyone at all? I’ve been a Hellenic for a couple of months now, and I mainly worship Hestia, Aphrodite, Persephone, and Athena, though Frejya has been reaching out to me lately.

What’s your aesthetic? I dunno! I’ve been told I can’t seem to decide on one, and it shifts every so often. I do like storms and space, but I also like the punk witch, vaguely princess-y, and serious business vibes as well.

What are some of your favourite smells? Rain, baked goods, cinnamon, cedar, aaand lavender.

Do you collect anything? I have a rock collection I’ve been steadily growing since I was little, and a bunch of dice but aside from that I have a small hoard of notebooks I plan on doing something with eventually lol.

What are you favourite tools of witchcraft? Tarot cards, my colored pens, myself, candles, and the wand I’m currently working on :0

What’s a non-witchcraft pet peeve of yours? Lack of respect for boundaries or not giving people space to be their own people. I’m not great at calling it out on myself but it’s a big peeve.

What’s a witchcraft pet peeve of yours? Absolutism. Thinking there’s only One Right Way to do things and shutting down others.

Good advice not relating to witchcraft that you can give?  Be forgiving of yourself. Things are going to happen that you can and can’t control, and it may end up sucking a lot, but it’s not a personal failure if something goes wrong. Be patient with yourself and keep moving forward, and know you don’t always have to do it alone.

Do you have any good advice pertaining to witchcraft that you can give? Be as specific as possible, but also use associations that are personal if you have them. As I’m currently learning, magic has a lot of potential for loopholes (for better or worse), and understanding exactly what you’re aiming to do is massively important. In that same vein, using personal associations are a way of doing just that!

Do you have a familiar? Not a... physical one I guess? If we’re talking animal friends I don’t rn, but I’d maybe want a cat or a crow :0
